Three & a half skewing positive...I came to this townie bar with a Newton bred friend on a Monday night during a Bruins playoff game and the atmosphere and crowd instantly had this Long Island native feeling nostalgia for the townie bars I grew up frequenting and having the requisite love hate relationship with. Â That wouldn't necessarily be enough to recommend it much, but fortunately I sampled the wings, which were very good, considerably above average. Â I tried the house special "Cherry Tree Variety" which was a creamier variation of the traditional buffalo style and quite delicious. I thought this sauce to be very unique but oddly enough the next day in Somerville at the Boston Burger Company I ordered a grilled buffalo chicken sandwich which was topped with a remarkably similar sauce, suggesting this might be a somewhat common regional variation. Â Whatever the case may be it would be a very good one. Â Beyond the good sauce the wings were perfectly crisp, which is key in judging wings in my opinion. Â Most all of the tables were ordering the "boneless wing" variations but I don't usually roll like that, I guess I am a wing traditionalist. Â This place is certainly a solid choice if you find yourself in town and want some excellent wings and legit local flavor.
