As Gary B. pointed out, K's was a lot different before the 20th moved their precinct house to north Lincoln Ave. and this place stopped being their 2nd home after shifts. There's still some early A.M. regulars but mostly retirees and Swedish Covenant staff who seem to be a much more benign clientele.

I see Kathy and Patti more than anyone else when I come in and they're not only easy on the eyes, they're on top of their game. Gradually over the last several years there's been a few upgrades to go along with the competent eye candy behind the bar. There's more taps, more craft beer both on tap and in bottles, an expanded bar stock, and more TVs.

There's a counter with a handful of barstools next to the back window and pool table and they've put three dart boards (real ones not plastic machines) on the east wall. There is a Spiderman pinball machine in the corner if the darts or seven foot pool table is too strenuous. There's a brick area outside the back door with a couple benches for the smokers (watch the stairs, they're steep). There are plenty of windows including some nice tiffany glass on and next to the front doors so the place isn't a dark hidey-hole from the middle of the last century.

Apparently some of the youngsters in the area have started to find K's and infused it with a little new life. Good for them and good for K's. It's a very nice neighborhood bar with reasonable prices and everything but food to make it a comfortable spot to sit for awhile. A high three stars.

its a neighborhood bar...i wouldnt come here expecting much

theyve got pool and serve u snacks while u sit and watch tv

its always super empty when i walk past and when i stopped in the other nite it was no different

service is decent but i have enough problems of my own...i dont really need to walk into a bar and have to listen to the bartender complain the whole time im there

also got a grumpy look and a curt reply when i cashed out...sorry buddy 2 beers = 2 buck tip

ill give 3 stars and another chance for now...

I have to say that I have avoided this place for many years do its close proximity to what was then the local police station (it is now gone).  Past experience in my early days taught me that cops+drinking=no good and I certainly wasn't going to go and drink in "their" bar.

Well the cop shop closed and started seeing some upgrades and more "regular folk" from the neighborhood going in and out of there.  Lots of tv's playing a variety of sports, good and sizable draft beer selection and some snacks.

The bartender was very friendly and held her own as the bar was fairly full prior to our group stopping by.
