La Mama's Pizza

Hm. La Mama's Pizza is not exactly Noli's. Or it's the same as Noli's but the quality has slipped. It's still good but not drive-clear-across-town good. I think maybe a 3-1/2 star rating could be in order (if there were such a thing) but I'll have to try the pizza one more time to see if we need another downgrade to three stars. What a shame they couldn't sustain the quality.

I can't keep up with the name changes, but I call this the Albanian Pizza Place, or Noli's.  The owner was Noli last time I checked, and he is from Montenegro.  I always go here for their European style Burek, which is very close to Turkish style tepsi burek.

In my opinion, this place has the best PIZZA in Chicago.  It's made to order, with very fresh and natural ingredients, it has a hand tossed crust with puffy edge, their sauce is amazing and they actually put enough sauce on the pizza, and it's topped off with 100% real cheese and fresh vegetable, olives, and meat.  I like the Mediterranean and the Vegetarian, but they will make anything and are very accommodating.

Students get a discount, and they have cheap slices for $1.50.

So we waited for their delivery. And waited. And waited some more. And then it came. So was it worth it? Oh yes! This looks like the pizza from the first Home Alone. The sauce is great,  the cheese is tasty, and the crust is crisp yet not too greasy. It is the perfect combination for a great pizza!

Order when you're just sort of hungry, because you will be starving by the time it gets there. But there is none better when it finally does!
