I see all of the rave reviews, but the food was really not very interesting. Being local ingredients does not make a dish good all by itself. We had the Chef sampler, the roasted beets, and the potato skins. The sampler did not blow me away. Of the three, the beets were best. For a main course, we had the meat loaf and I can hardly recall the other dish. Very unmemorable other than having an overpowering wild rice. I like good food; this was just boring

Note: the 5 stars assume you're a foodie willing to pay over $20 for a great meal

My friends and I tried Local 127 out after I found it on my searches for restaurants using fresh, local ingredients. I must admit that we almost walked out after seeing the menu - only 6 or so entrees, each costing over $20. And based on the fancy descriptions, we expected the portions to be small as well. But we stayed (largely because it was pouring down rain), and I'm glad we did.

We all got something different, and we all LOVED the food. It was so unique, fresh, and flavorful. Definitely the best meal I've had in a long time. I will definitely be going back. It's certainly expensive, but the food is truly an experience you won't find elsewhere (innovative and of great quality), and you really do get a lot. I also like supporting local businesses who really add to the community.

Some things I really liked (aside from the amazing food):
- The chef was flexible. He made a vegetarian dish for my friend and substituted a vegetable for me since I try to minimize carbs. And they weren't just quick swap-outs: the results were totally new, fabulous dishes

- The serving sizes were a nice surprise. I brought some food home, and my friends said they wish they had - that they ate it all because it was so yummy but were uncomfortably full.

- The amazing muffins before dinner and the chocolate chip cookies after were very pleasant surprises

- When they boxed up my leftovers, they included every last drop. I usually ask to box the food up myself - because many places just drop the meat in a box, leaving behind vegetables and sauces.

This was my first time dining at Local 127 and already looking forward to a return visit. We did not have reservations on a Friday night but were graciously seated immediately. Our hostess and server were both very friendly and knowledgeable. Because of Lent, the dinner options were limited and we were in the mood for pasta. Our server suggested several options, but in the end we asked for Chef to surprise us. Wow! We were served a pasta dish with a white sauce base mixed with perfectly cooked vegetables and topped with an egg. Absolutely delicious!

If I could give this place a 3.5 stars, I would. The food is just too pricey for what's it worth. However, the food is good. I had the porkopolis, and it was an interesting combination of different pig parts, but I preferred my friends meal and she had the meatloaf, which was laid on top of Mac and cheese. Very good, but again, kinda pricey at $21.
I should mention the service was fantastic and they took the time to explain about each meal, how they valued local food sources, and also raved about their "master chef." All in all, I think it's a good option for anyone looking for new American cuisine.

Found this place through yelper of Cincinnatti.

Food: I ordered the chef tasting platter; the waiter walked through the dish and explained everything; rabbit tourraine, pork tourraine , smoked trout, smoked confetti wing. All good and taste great but the platter portion size is too small for $14 dish... Really one piece of wing in the entire platter?! - 3/5 It was a bit over priced appetizer
.
Got the lamb duo w shiitake mushroom- great dish, it had a bit sweet and salty sauce mixture cooked w the mushroom. The lamb meat balls were very seasoned. I wish this dish had a bit more lamb chops rather than 4 small pieces. Overall, it's great dish - again wish the portion was a bit bigger with more shittake mushroom for $27 dish. 4/5 Overall for the food, its quality and its prices is a 3.5/5

Good services- 4/5 ; the waiters and his helpers explained everything throughly. the restaurant was full with customers. I have no complain because the service was quick and fast. Servers were very knowledgeable.

Atmosphere - Small cozy local place. Very cool modern layout; except for that weird pic of a can of sweet peas .... anyhow, overall decent open space place. . 4/5

Overall the restaurant is well managed, a bit over priced, but it does have a great quality of food.

One of my favorite restaurants in Cincinnati. The food here is delicious, gourmet, and reasonably priced. Local 127 uses local foods and cooks with interesting methods (sous-vide for example).

My favorite dish is Porkopolis. There are several pork meats cooked in different ways, all of them delicious.

Ambience: it's a very nice dinner place. Located next to the square downtown, it is a short walk from several parking garages and other things to do after dinner.

Great spot in downtown Cinci! Good local far, creative menu, extensive craft cocktail list. Loved the deconstructed Mac & Cheese, walleye, and charcuterie. It was quiet for a thursday night, but we walked in at 8:30 and as we were finishing our dinner around 10, we learned that they usually close the kitchen at 9! The staff was great about it and hadn't rushed us at all. Definitely worth a try!

I was in downtown Cincinnati for a night and needed a drink. The bartender was knowledgable and helpful, but none of the staff seemed particularly happy. They were professional, however, so maybe it was just the gloomy weather that night. I also had their apple dessert, which was good, but it wouldn't order it again.

Since moving here in September (and travelling here often prior to that), I have been less than excited about the quality of meals in Cincinnati for the price. (Yes, an over-generalization, but not far off the mark.)

Then, we found Local 127.

This place is doing it right. We started with the proper charcuterie plate (of which I enjoy making myself) - a terrine, pork heart and smoked trout. This is one of a few restaurants that serve trout that is not overly smoked. Very moist with a touch of earthiness from the smoking. Very nice.

They have a number of small plates, but we moved right on the large ones. I had Porkopolis, which is pork served three ways: this evening included a rib, a loin, and a fennel sausage with what must have been the fennel bulb, as it was light and fragrant (vs. most sausages that are overpowered with fennel seeds). On a bed of wheatberries and turnips, a touch of mustard and reduced wine, every bite was very flavorful, yet well balanced.

Let us not forget our fine bartender (who made me a "Liberal Liberal", a cross between an Old Fashioned and Negroni) and servers (Nick and others, well done!), all of whom actually knew the courses they were serving and explained them with passion.

If I had to make one critique, the time between the courses were a little longer than optimum, which seemed to cause a bit of a backup at the reservation area with not turning over tables as well as they could.

However, the best meal in Cincinnati to date... I hope there are more to come.

Great food, and even though the area is smaller, the noise level stays down enough that you can hear yourself.
Our server was really friendly and helpful about making suggestions and pairings. We split some of our plates and they were really accommodating about that.
The charcuterie plate is not to be missed!

This restaurant was not the place I had hoped it to be. I envisioned more of an American Diner. I guess I should have read the reviews closer. While I would not discourage someone from trying it I would recommend reading more reviews before visiting it. I tried it for lunch while in town on business. The menu had 9 or 10 total items on it with several of them being salad, soup, and appetizers. I ordered the iceberg wedge. It came with a (raw?) egg on top. It was just a little too different for me. It's difficult to describe but this is a very different restaurant. The staff were very friendly and I didn't encounter the delays others have reported.

Wow! This restaurant is amazing! I came across this place on Facebook, and saw the reviews were good. My boyfriend and I wanted to splurge a bit, and wanted to have a new experience. Every dish we got (we ordered a lot) had a beautiful presentation. The ingredients were fresh and local, and the staff explained the food on the dishes, so you knew what you were eating. I 100% plan on coming back!

P.S. if you order dessert, get the ice cream sandwiches!

I ate here 3x while visiting Cincinnati for a conference. Everything I tried was great - burger, veggie sides, butternut squash soup, and salad. Entrees looked great as well. My only gripe is that on one visit we were offered still vs sparking water. We chose still with the expectation that it would be tap. Instead it was a $4 per person bottle of spring water. Misleading service.

One of the best meals I've had this year, and that's saying a lot cuz I've eaten every day this year, ha ha. No seriously, I had the meatloaf ($21) and it was ridiculously good. I know that the price is rather high, but for a special occasion, I would heartily recommend 127. I aslo complimented my 'loaf with a cocktail from the bar. The Bourbon Flip - Maker's Mark Bourbon, Lemon, Sugar, Egg, Stout ($10) If you like bourbon and a hint of stout, this will be a nice beverage for you. While I was waiting, a nice server dropped off a complimentary cornbread muffin which was a nice surprise.

I was rolling solo and w/out reservation so I sat at the bar and this was fine although the bar height makes you look a little silly when you cut your food. No biggie. Check this place out and I hope you have a great an experience as I did.

*I hear the desserts are to die for so I'll have to grab one the next time.

My first Yelp review, so want to set one thing straight. I judge each restaurant according to who I think they want to be. So, if they are trying to be the trendiest new place using the farm to table concept, I will judge them on that basis, as opposed to just a casual pizza parlor, or a family friendly diner, etc. Based on this, I gave local 127 4/5 stars. We went out with family for my birthday and it was a great meal. However, there were a few things that could be improved.
Let me start with the great things: The table favorite were the cheezy grits, a surprisingly yummy dish that everyone loved. It had enough zing from the hot sauce to accent the incredible cheesiness. Second place starter dish was the pork terrine where even the potato salad included was top notch. For Entrees, the house smoked burger was a surprise. It actually goes down as one of the best burgers I have had, and I've had my share. Of course, I am a sucker for smoky, but the temperature was cooked right, so it was very moist and had lots of flavor. The rest of the entrees were as expected, not mind blowing, but definitely nothing wrong with them. I had the duck and enjoyed it, but have had better sauces before.
What could they improve? Their handcrafted cocktails were, meh...my brother had a Moscow Mule that was low on ginger and didn't have the proper copper cup. What else? The service was good, but it was slow, almost it seemed intentionally slow so that you could savor each course, but we were left to sit for a while with just drinks.

When all is said and done, I am definitely looking forward to going back and trying some other starters and maybe the short ribs. You should give it a shot too!

Enjoyed the appetizers more than the main dishes. Highlights: Grits were stupendous, faux gras lovely pairings.

While servers were very nice, serving style was a little strange. Long wait between cocktails and apps - then a serving ambush of clearing. Then a long wait, all is presented at once and then a frantic clearing again.

After several more visits to the (not so) new location on Vine Street, my review rating continues it's slow slide to now 2 stars. Prices are high, but I haven't had anything that really impressed me in the last few visits, so they're no longer worth it. Also, the length of time it takes to dine there is absolutely ridiculous--I haven't gotten out of there in under 3.5 hours for dinner yet. They make a point of asking if you have any "time restrictions" when you make a reservation and I mentioned that several of us had babysitters we needed to get back for, but either that wasn't a good enough reason or there's really no difference no matter what you say because service was painfully slow.

I got the steak special last time ($34 for ribeye) and it was fairly good, but I've certainly had many better steaks for the price (and less). I should have known to request otherwise by this point, but didn't and the steak came out pre-sliced--something I have no idea why they do--so the meat is stone cold after a bite or two. Entrée sides are more like garnishes and the a la carte sides are $7 each. Also, the servers are trained to explain each entrée AFTER it has been delivered, a perplexing practice that is unnecessary and rather annoying. I already ordered it, I don't need an explanation, it's finally in front of me, I just want to eat it now!

There are a few nice touches: a yummy complimentary corn muffin to start and mini chocolate chip cookie per person with the check. But all in all, I want more bang for my dining dollar for a $100+ per couple meal.

Jessica and I had dinner here on Monday night and it exceeded all my expectations. We made reservations that afternoon for an early dinner at 6:30. Thankfully we had reservations b/c they were turning people away at the door as they were fully booked. You know a restaurant's doing something right when they can sell out on a Monday.

We chose this restaurant because they allow you to bring personal wines - for a $25 corkage fee. As the long as the wine retails for more than $50, I consider that to be a very good deal. We have a boatload of Nickel&Nickel and Far Niente (my favorite wine club) - and don't cook nearly well enough to rationalize opening those bottles at home, so this is a nice way to do it.

The service was fantastic... very professional, timely but unobtrusive, and knowledgeable beyond belief. I enjoyed hearing the back-story on where the duck breast was farmed, how they source their scallops, etc. The food was phenomenal, as expected. We started with the smoked trout, which I'd strongly recommend. Next was the grits - also a good choice. For entrees, we went with the scallops and the duck. Note that the online menu is not entirely current and some of the preparations have changed. Both entrees were absolutely amazing. For dessert, we had the sour cream cheesecake - served deconstructed in a mason jar. It was fantastic.

I'd been meaning to try Local 127 for some time now. It's convenient for those of us that live downtown and you might even get lucky enough to snag a parking spot right in front of the restaurant as we did. The food is amazing and the service couldn't have been better. The pace of the meal is perfect if you're trying to savor a romantic date or linger through a business meeting, but it might be too slow for children or people in a rush. We were there for almost 3 hours.

The food was delicious and the service was great. The mac n cheese was very rich and delicious, the beet salad was great too. Interestingly one of us ordered a salad which was supposed to come with green beans which were praised by the waitress, but they were nowhere to be found in the salad! The cocktails were tasty too! I recommend this place over the generic steakhouses in the immediate surrounding area.

Note: There are no private rooms in this restaurant for private parties.

Dinner here was amazing. Complimentary cornbread was so good that we asked for more! We cheesy grits and squash soup are must order apps. For entree, I had porkpolis which I felt was a bit overkill with the meat but that was my own bad. They ran out of scallops and I heard the meatloaf was amazing too. We had the sour creme cheesecake for dessert which was appropriately portioned and amazingness.

In addition to the amazing food, the service was proper, yet unpretentious!

I went here with my mom and grandma for a late lunch. Even though we showed up at 3 (a very weird hour), we felt welcome and got great service. I Ioved everything I ordered, but I thought the proportions were a little small for the price. That said, I didn't leave unsatisfied.

My mom is a mostly vegan, and they were very gracious in making her an amazing salad with some of the ingredients she spotted in other dishes on the menu (roasted beets, etc.) I really appreciated that because I know it's probably not a restaurant's dream scenario.

The highlight for me, apart from the cheesecake served in a mason jar, was the bartender who graciously answered all my mom's questions about their homemade bitters and made us a cardamom bloody mary that was quite certainly the best bloody mary I've ever had. The cardamom clearly came through, but did not dominate. A perfect drink.

Once again, expectations are everything, and it's possible that this meal was disappointing merely because I was anticipating perfection. That, and I'd forgotten to wear underwear.

PROS:
1) Decor is very cool
2) They play good mo-town music, but could play it louder to inject energy into the ambience
3) Chef's Cured & Pickled Assortment - {description of pickling: http://en.wikipedia.org/… ; description of curing: http://en.wikipedia.org/… } Not necessarily the kind of dish that's going to jump off the menu because of its description, but still this is the best I've ever seen this dish done. If you've had the same thing at 1215 Wine Bar in OTR, this Local 127 version is MUCH better
4) Their gourmet version of Tomato Soup was good. But nothing INCREDIBLE.
5) Salad with Goat Cheese and Green Tomato was good, but I'm not typically big on salads. Again, quality of ingredient was high.

CONS:
1) Chicken Two Ways was, for lack of a better term, floppy. The Chicken was floppy, and it was also floppy for the Chicken with Pesto, which a friend had ordered. I wish I had taken a video to better explain how floppy it was, but if you're still unclear, try googling "floppy meat" and hope for the best.
2) Food was not super hot; this can be related to the waiter's timing of knowing when to pick up ready food from the kitchen, so don't assume this will be an issue every time.

The best way to explain this place is that it's like the restaurant version of Whole Foods; ingredients are carefully selected for their quality and farmer morality, but you're not going to be overcome by the desire to give your dish a standing ovation for flavor.
If you genuinely think Whole Foods' ready-made food is DELICIOUS, then this place is for you. If you respect Whole Foods' wholesomeness but can notice its flavor shortcomings, you'll make similar observations with the offerings at Local 127.

The house wines at $4-5 are a great value. Duck breast medallions in port wine reduction sauce with pistachio and cherry quite good. Husband's 4 scallops in three over fussy sauces that competed with one another another story at $25. Waitress did not offer credit when she arrived after dinner to check " how things are". Cherry gelato and chocolat custard good, but not even close to Jean Ro's pot du chocolat.
Cheesy grits ok, not fab. Not sure it is worth $85.

They sure are creative - I wonder if their chef has been on any reality tv cooking shows! Chopped, maybe?

To take the same ingredients over and over and innovate constantly into a dish and an experience that makes it a pleasure to dine sure takes some skills!

The only one star they didn't earn was service - because it was SOOOO slow!

I'm not sure where to begin this review... Stellar service, amazing food, cute setting... WOW!

We had reservations for 7, and only 6 were able to join in this fabulous evening of culinary awesomeness! We were greeted by a welcoming hostess who had our table reset and then quickly sat our party in Taylor's section.

Everything that we had was excellent. We all enjoyed the crisp white wine chef recommended to start. The evening's sweet cornbread was a blueberry. Being allergic to blueberries, I asked if there was anything else that they had available, (I love me some cornbread,) they graciously made two, hot cornbread muffins for me sans blueberries. (I only asked for one, but ate both because they were AMAZING!)

I split a Waldorf bib salad which was perfectly dressed. The riesling raisins were a great complement to this light salad.

For my entree, I enjoyed the duck. Chef has an amazing knack for preparing foods in a way that is both flavorful, but remains true to the natural flavors of the ingredients. The duck was perfectly cooked and served with duck confit and kale and wild rice side. The plate was sauced with a wine and cherry reduction that highlighted the duck's natural flavors.

Dessert was equally fantastic!

My only criticism about this restaurant is that it is located in Cincinnati and I am from Boston.

The meal was outstanding. Better than many I have had in other "fine dinning" restaurants. The waiter was personable, and chef came to the table. The fantastic meal, combined with the relaxed and comfortable atmosphere made this experience truly outstanding.

Bravo!!!

I stopped in for lunch knowing nothing about this place. The food and the service were both excellent. I had the (free range) glazed chicken wings and the roasted beets with goat cheese and prosciutto.

Lunch was so good that I went back the next night for dinner. I highly recommend Local 127.

This was my first time in. I sat at the bar and had the smoked trout, scallops, and cheesecake (deconstructed). The trout was good, but was lacking something. . . maybe some shiso leaves? It was almost a sushi dish & perhaps should have been served with chopsticks. The scallops were PERFECT! Perfectly cooked, which is very difficult to find as so many places will overcook them. The bartender was quite knowledgeable with recommending the appropriate wine pairings as well. The deconstructed cheesecake was perfect!

Overall it was a wonderful experience; although the first two dishes were done well they still lacked a certain element of structure. A good saucier might be their answer.

I took my wife and two adult daughters here for dinner after paying $4,000 on a car repair. We were looking for a way to improve our day and Local 127 really helped.

The bar is extremely well stocked and nice and quiet. The wine list is extensive with all of the usual flavors (domestic and international). The restaurant is new American specializing in local ingredients (not so different anymore). The staff and service was exceptional. They were knowledgeable and able to give suggestions when asked. The menu has several small plates that can be combined for dinner or paired with a large plate for a more substantial meal. The plates are presented in a gourmet manner with portion size being appropriate for the price. Overall we had a very enjoyable evening. Thanks.

We had a really uneven experience here. We eat out at places like this all over the country as we travel for work and our m.o. is to get a few things to share. We started with the French Onion soup and chefs tasting app. The French Onion soup was great with a super rich broth. The tasting was smoked fish, salumi and two pates. All were good.

And then we ordered the grits and the chicken and dumplings. Maybe it's because we are used to eating southern version of these dishes, but we were thoroughly unimpressed. So much so that we skipped orderping dessert.

Service was slow - maybe we should have told them we had a show to get to (since we were asked a few times).

To leave on a positive note, my friend's old fashioned was perfect and they have a great beer list.

Amazing, delicious food. My boyfriend and I came here for dinner on a Saturday night at 7:00pm, and it wasn't too crowded. (We made reservations beforehand, just in case.) The hostesses were polite and took our coats. The wait staff was professional, if a bit lanky/young/boyish.

We ordered the potato skin (smaller plate), the sea scallops, and the short ribs (an off-menu special), as well as a Kentucky Bourbon Ale. My boyfriend was excited that they offered it, since its not the easiest beer to find. Everything was perfectly cooked, plated, and incredibly tasty. I recently dined at The Palace in the Cincinnatian Hotel, and had scallops there, as well. Local 127 takes the cake. I would eat here every night!

Had dinner with my partner at Local 127 on Saturday evening. Overall the meal and service were good. I just wasn't wowed.

The bar has some good beer options and the Liberal Liberal cocktail was an excellent choice if you are a bourbon fan. I found the wine list be a little lacking - particularly the offerings by the glass.

As for the food, the smoked and cured appetizer was excellent. The rest of the dishes were hit or miss; the onion soup has an excellent crouton but the flavor tasted a bit too much of wine - really wanted some beef flavor, the beet salad was nice but some of the beets were hard as a rock and some were incredibly soft so it was a little inconsistent. The chicken on the chicken and egg was good but the egg part with the foam was a little bit much - I wanted more yolk and it sort of got lost in the foam. Also, it's a rather ugly looking plate and there was a fried green tomato on the bottom that didn't seem to go well with the rest of the dish and totally overpowered the grits. The Scallops with bacon and lentils was quite good - perfectly cooked scallops, nice add with bacon but not too much.

The citrus desert was quite refreshing and a nice end to the meal.

The service was quite eager - at times this worked an at times not. One issue with the service is that we waited 20 minutes between the second course and the entree.

Over all it was a good solid meal. I like the idea of of farm to table so would probably go back and stick with smaller plates in the cured/pickled section. As for entrees, I believe there are other restaurants at this price point that offer a better overall product.

I'm very surprised to read about the mixed reviews for Local 127. My experience was terrific.

We had a reservation and were seated immediately upon our arrival. I guess they get a lot of people who come here before a show because we were asked no less than 3 times if we were. We were not and let them know we were in no rush. The staff was very attentive, knoweldgable and knew the menu extremely well.

We started off with various appetizers of the chef's selection of smoked and pickled items, the "faux gras" and chicken with dumplings. All were fantastic.

I was a little disappointed that at 6:30 they were out of the beef of the night. What? How could that be at 6:30? In any event, 3 of us got the duck and 1 got the suvee (? don't know how to spell it) chicken and egg. Well maybe it was a good thing that they were out of the beef because the duck was one of the best duck dishes I ever had. The chicken was terrific also but just not something that I would order.

Deconstructed cheese cake for dessert was out of this world but the chocolate pot of cream was just ok.

All in all, it's the best dining experience I've had in Cincinnati and will probably make it a regular destination each time I'm in town.

I had heard about Local 127 because they are a Farm to Table restaurant, which means that most of their ingredients are from local farms. I personally love the idea of that.

Upon entering we were immediately greeted and I noticed the nice atmosphere right away. It had the perfect balance of class and casual. The water in a mason jar with the nice cloth napkins, and Dr Seuss pictures on the wall. Our waiter was very friendly and helpful. He brought out cornbread before our other food, and let me say it was the BEST cornbread I have ever had. Then I had the Confit Chicken Wings and fries. The wings were so tender the meat just fell off the bone and the fries had a great seasoning on them along with homemade ketchup (amazing).
Then after our meal I tried their own house blend of coffee, which was the perfect end to a perfect meal.

I loved every thing about this place and I will go back.

I was a tourist in town for work, and I needed a good meal to ease the pain of air travel and missing my family. I first stopped at Mortons but as I expected, the service was awful and the menu was ridiculously overpriced. The glass of wine could not end soon enough.

Yelp to the rescue. Guess what was a few doors down? Local 127, which prides itself per the menu "as providing the freshest ingredients, prepared with a respect for tradition using innovative tools of today." Now that is a swell motto for a restaurant.

Focusing on local ingredients and and supplies (except, I later learned, the beef, which is from a small farm on the west coast), the menu is an eclectic mix of such creations as woodlands mountain ham with candied watermelon rind and parsley to homemade meat loaf with potato foam, yellow squash, mountain gravy and house made ketchup.

I kept it simple and ordered a steak.

To drink, I decided to start with a beer to wash away the overpriced glass of wine from Morton's. The choices were overwhelming. For a guy from Memphis, I was at a loss. Mt Caramel Amber? Kentucky Bourbon Barel Ale? Founders Porter? Nothing I knew so I went with a Stone IPA in honor of my wife, who loves IPAs, and it was terrrific. I also got a sample of the bourbon beer, which I am glad to have tried, but am glad to never try again.

While waiting for my meal, it gave me a moment to enjoy the surroundings. The bar is welcoming for a drink or a meal. Tables were filled with business dinners, date nights and families. This is a happening place for a cold November weeknight.

My steak was exceptional. It was cooked right, the sides were also prepared well, and it was served with a smile. The red wines by the glass did not complement a steak very well, but I did the best I could. It was still better than that glass from Morton's.

Highly recommended.

I had a groupon for here, so I called one of my best gal pals and took her out for the evening. I don't think we saw the best side of Local 127, though, which was unfortunate. When we arrived, our table wasn't ready, though we had a reservation. We sat up at the bar and ordered some creative and overpriced cocktails. The drinks were delicious, and the bar had a great atmosphere. However, the bartender was just not very welcoming. One of my favorite things to do at a nice restaurant or bar is strike up a conversation with the bartender, tell him what I like and have him suggest an interesting cocktail to me. This one seemed bored and not very knowledgeable. Now, I know for a fact he was extremely knowledgeable, because he mixed me a fabulous drink. But it just wasn't the same without the conversation.

Once seated, the waitstaff seemed to forget about us. We sat for about twenty minutes without any waiter stopping by the table to take our orders, and that was a second disappointment.

Our food was good, but one or two of the dishes did not fully live up to the description or the price. Still, that disappointment would have been minor, if it hadn't been for the other inconveniences.

Ultimately, I'm hesitant to return, even though I think I just had a fluke bad experience. Here's hoping I can go back soon and enjoy it far more.

I haven't been to the Local 127 since they moved over to Vine st., but this was, at one point, my (and my two girlfriends) favorite restaurant. Any time there was a celebration, this is where we would go. Sometimes we made up an occasion to justify going. I couldn't go as much as I wanted since the dishes are fairly pricey.

The first time the three of us went was magical. We each chose different dishes and loved them all! No complaints, whatsoever. I had the sea scallops and they were amazing!! By far, the best dish I have ever had, anywhere. As a matter of fact, I believe it is the dish that is the first photo for Local 127's Yelp page.

We stopped going after Chef Geddes changed the menu (I'm assuming it was seasonal) and that was the last time we went. None of us likes our dishes at all, two of them I recall were the Porkopolis and the Chicken two-ways.

I definitely will go back, but only if the sea scallops, meatloaf w/ ptotato foam or the chicken two ways is offered. I love to try new things, but not after such a disappoint previously.

To end on a good note, I have not had one dessert that I didn't like. The cheesecake is delicious and get the coffee before you go!!

My feelings about Local 127 are mixed. First gripe is that, while they claim to source much of their food locally (and I'll believe them), the menu doesn't focus at all on seasonal ingredients. In fact, I don't think I've ever seen a tomato featured, even in the heart of August. They also position their cured meats and cheese platter as being updated regularly, but it's been the same each time we've ordered.

That said, the food tastes delicious. We most recently went for restaurant week. The aforementioned cured meats and cheeses were good. Squash soup had a terrific balance of flavors. And the trout entree was also yummy. Because of a long wait for attention when we were first seated, we were treated to a complimentary cheesecake, also great.

The new location is far more suited for the 'local/casual' concept. But I still visit the Wade's establishments begrudgingly because I've consistently heard rotten things about their management, even outside the very visible bout with Jean Robert.

New location is on Vine St across from the Westin.

Great food and ambience. Went here for Downtown Cincinnati Restaurant week. 3 courses for $35.

Started with the chef's choice of cured stuff. I think it included trout, pork belly, pork shoulder, and a terrine. All very tasty. Then had the butternut squash soup. Also a great course. FInished with the chicken mac and cheese. Definitely not your mom's mac and cheese. Interesting flavors. Chicken two ways, bot excellent. Fried green tomatoes also. Great contrast of textures as well great flavors. FInished with their sour cream cheesecake in a mason jar. OMG, this was also great. Grahm cracker crust, blueberry preserves, reisling-soaked raisins, cheescake foam. They actually offered us another one because they mistakenly made one, but we were too full, and the cheesecake was pretty rich that we had to begrudgenly turn it down.

Our waiter was excellent. He really sold the courses and meal to us. Great description of all the courses.

WIthout the restaurant week discount, the meal would be pretty expensive. I would definitely come back though.
