Twin Bistro

I was looking around for someplace new to try at around 9AM. I decided to jump on Yelp and see what I could find that was open.

I have driven by Twin Bistro on 4th Street for a while now, and never stopped in. After reading the previous review, I thought I would run down and try it out.

The restaurant is located inside the Panorama Apartments in Covington, KY. Panorama is a Senior Apartment complex. Upon entering the lobby, the place just didn't smell right.. When I went into the bistro, there was one employee tucked back in a corner table on a laptop.

She noticed me walk in, I noticed her sitting, while 3 tables have glasses on them, and most of the tables could use a wiping down.

I ordered a Bacon, Egg, and Cheese Croissant with an order of biscuits and gravy.  

Everything was really bad.. Honestly, it tasted pretty much like bad cafeteria food..

The biscuits were really bad tasting. They had both a strange flavor and texture, and they looked like standard bulk pack fare. The gravy tasted like it came straight from the can, to the microwave, to my plate..  It just wasn't good at all.

How do you ruin a Bacon, Egg, and Cheese sandwich? Well, you start out with a croissant that is smashed and compressed to the thickness of single piece of bread, you toast it till it is crispy and nice and burnt on all edges. You then grab some petrified bacon (I like crispy, this was painful to chew) that has been sitting around a while, and lay on top. Now you fry an egg and toss it into the mix. Add a piece of cheese and really smoosh it all together nice and tight..

I won't be back. I hate to poo poo on a place, but wow..

This restaurant, owned by husband and wife team Avram (the chef) and Kristin Steuber, has been open for almost a year and continues to do well.  The food is made to order, inexpensive, and delicious.  It is located in the Panorama towers in Covington in a simple, no-frills setting and the food is served in the same manner:  nothing pretentious but just good comfort food.  Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.  Additionally, they offer a good selection of coffee and also have a thriving catering business as well.
