Club Venus

The sad thing is, I would give this place 0 stars if I could--- BUT, the really nice bartender, waitress, and bouncer saved this review. They were all really friendly and hospitable--- the bouncer even went out of his way to find a booth for us to sit in...right smack in the middle of the club.

Found out about this place by "word of mouth" by some one dude who worked at this one store in Cincy--- I know, not exactly the most reliable source but the internet doesn't seem to be all that reliable around here! Mind you, we're originally from Illinois--- so I guess you can say we kind of had higher expectations? And have gotten so used to the nonsmoking law. We didn't realize this place was a "bikini bar" meaning girls in bikinis standing on the stage. Just that. Didn't note any private rooms for dances or anything. It said there was no cover on the internet so we were surprised by the $5 cover upon arrival. Top shelf drinks were $6, and wells $5.

The set up of the place isn't all that efficient. If you're sitting at a bar you have to poke your head around to get a glimpse of the dancer on stage. I think what really threw me off was this one "dancer" who spent the entire time she was on the stage complaining about how she doesn't feel like dancing and would just half-ass moves when she would dance. Girl--- you're on STAGE. A song is playing. Do SOMETHING! There's this awkward silence between songs and dancers. Those are always fun--- to look around awkwardly and avoid eye contact.

It was an interesting experience, nonetheless! Just people watching, and looking at each other's reactions. But unless you wanna go home or back to your hotel reeking of dirty smoke and really dry/sore eyes from all the smoke, save your $5...$11 if you got a cocktail drink...and just hit up the nearest Starbucks.
