A smaller, more intimate feel at the bar, and somewhat "private" seating area allows this venue to play a perfect host for a party, meeting, and anything between.
Courteous staff, and attentive owners ensure that your needs are met, and drinks are in-hand. Â
The real appeal of Three Kings Bar are the concepts of Art & Music, which become the centerpiece of the bar. Â Hip hop, dance/electronic, and the like can be found, along with local NKY and Cincy artists, who you will definitely find among the crowd on any given night.
If you're seeking a nice chill spot, decent DJ's, and some excellent Local artwork, you're going to want to stop in, have a drink, and enjoy the work adorning the walls of Three Kings Bar.
Bonus: Â If you like Tequila, and you can find Ty, you'll be in for an excellent Margarita!
Formerly known as Clique, Three Kings recently opened their doors on Pike Street. I'm not certain as to what theme they're going for; it's a hole-in-the-wall that is going for the upscale club audience.
The bar area is bright and modern with all of the standard liquors. The beer selection left something to be desired, as did the knowledge of the bartender. I asked what local beers they served. Her answer: "Budweiser." She rattled off the stocked beers, all of which were the big name nationals. The closest thing to a craft beer was the Sofie by Goose Island. I ordered that. The bartender mentioned, "I've never heard of this before, so you'll have to let me know how it tastes." I raised an eyebrow.
In the back room, there were plenty of plush booths lining the perimeter of the wall. There was also a DJ spinning hip hop, something that didn't really go with the rest of the theme of the bar. With only a handful of people present, the music overwhelmed the space. My friends and I were having to shout at each other.
Then of course came the big downfall: Kentucky allows smoking in bars. I saw two people with cigarettes, which again for the small space, completely stenched the room. My friends and I had planned to stay longer than a half hour, but we ended up leaving after our first drink.
The bar has a lot of potential and I look forward to seeing them evolve as they find their footing, and hopefully change their outlook on the smoking policy.
