This is one of the greatest places you can ever go to meet up with a large group.  There is plenty of outdoor seating, quick service, and the clientele is always open to welcoming newcomers.  On of my favorite summer hangouts!

This place will definitely take you off guard. I thought I was going to a fancy upscale club on the river. I ended up really like the casual, tropical theme they've created there. It kind of reminds me of Phoenix Hill Tavern in Louisville, KY. They have reasonably priced drinks and specials. On weekends, they have live music. It a great place and you really get to enjoy the river scene while having a great time with your friends.

I was there several weeks ago with some friends that really enjoyed the place the last time they were there.   Service was poor at best, our waitress kept forgetting drink orders and did not know what beers they had.  I finally went to the bar and looked at the list.  We when asked for Killian's and she told us they did not serve Killian's.  First beer on the list Killian. They do not have a beer list with the menu.
Food okay, but what really got us was our waitress gave us our bill on a post-it note with just the total, and both of our totals were even dollar amounts.  How fishy is that.  We asked for and itemized bill and she could not do it.   There are plenty of other places to go on the river.  The Sunset grill on the river in Warsaw, Ky it a great place.

The Ludlow Bromley Yacht Club is already one of my favorite places in Cincinnati, and I've only been there once.  When you want to show out-of-town guests (who are not from poor-rich river towns) something they haven't seen before, take them to the LBYC.

First of all, the LBYC was packed on a Sunday, which is rare for any place in Sabbath-Savoring Cincinnati. Granted, there just happened to be a "Bikini contest" happening, but that seemed to only appeal to those interested in both bikinis AND contests; this mainly meant older men with traveling wives. One thoughtfully yelled to a scantily-dressed contestant, "Your mother would be proud of you!" Maybe that was her father yelling.

The real charm about this place, though, comes from the contradiction between its concept and culture. When you think about yacht clubs, you imagine sweater vests, white pants, and umbrellas in martinis.  When you get to THIS yacht club, you see white beaters, cut-off jean shorts, and buckets of canned beer. Class Class Class.

For food, I had the Grilled Ham and Cheese, which was good, but no Tom+Chee.  It's best food put forth is probably its burgers, but I didn't have a chance to try them.
There were no drink specials, but a bucket of CANNED coors light was $12, and that was priced at retail.

It's super casual, very cheap, and sits on a bouncing dock at river level. LBYC is far from the highway, though, so if you're coming to check it out, you've committed for the night. That'll be just fine, as you long as you bring your overalls and your fun face.

Awesome atmosphere. Cook your own steak is cool, reasonably priced but, definitely not top notch yacht club though. The view being right on the river is gorgeous. Not too much else to say.

LBYC is pretty much what you might envision of a Kentucky Yacht Club. This is not what you envision a yacht club to be- there's nothing pretentious or fancy about it. It's basically a huge covered deck with a bar and food. And a little beach area by the river. Drinks are... pretty mediocre at best, though cheap. You'll be hard pressed to find any non-fried appetizers, or really anything very healthy other than salad on the menu. And cash only (there's an ATM). I can see how people enjoy the near-kitcshy environment, especially after some, or many, drinks on the boat before docking there. As for me, it's a shrug.

Some places just are what they are. A bar/restaurant on a river barge with good wait staff, cold beer and mediocre food. The mushroom swiss burger is more like a meatloaf and the mushroom sauce is gravy. I was excited to hear the grilled grouper came in a wrap but was disappointed that the wrap was of the doughy, bread variety. I ate the fish and left the wrap. I wouldn't go back for the food but would for a cold beer on a summer afternoon if we're in the area.

my absolute new favorite spot within 10 minutes of my house.

if you haven't been here - GO.

HUGE bar ON the ohio river.  excellent wait staff - really, really good bar food (the cod sandwich will rock your face and the bacon mac n chz that comes with it?  get outta town).

chicken wings are meaty but not fatty.

palm trees line the patio - views of the ohio side are gorgeous - and the prices make it so that you can still go out afterward because you aren't broke.

LBYC has almost reached legendary status in the Cincinnati/NKY area.  We had driven by it many times and pulled into the parking lot (only to find it full) a few times.  When one of our favorite bartenders said she had started working as a server at the Yacht Club, we knew it was time to check it out.  It was sunny, but a bit chilly the night we went so we chose a table in the sunshine.  This place is definitely like the slightly seedy waterfront bars that we love to find when we're visiting Florida.  It was ribs night so we gave them a try.  Not smoked, but not bad.  The beer selection is very average, but the growing number of beers available in cans now apparently has boosted their number of beers.  We'll be back to try again very soon.

I can see why some people may be turned off by the fact that they call themselves a yacht club. They are by no means a yacht club and don't have room for a real yacht to pull up.

What they do have, however, is sunshine, cheap beers ($11 buckets), and fresh food from the grill. I went on a Wednesday, which is their pork chop night. I didn't know this coming in but realized it as soon as I walked on board and saw a giant grill covered in thick cut pork chops. They had some standard picnic/bbq sides laid out in trays as well. I got the double chop meal for $13 w/ cheesy potatoes and green beans. I thought it was delicious. The caesar salad should have probably been skipped, but I don't know why I ordered that in the first place.

I've heard that they have a cover charge for bands on the weekend. They certainly don't on the weekdays. I'll probably be back for their steak mondays. This place is definitely worth a visit as it's completely different than anything else around here.

Definitely a fun place to hang out in the summer.  Sit outside on the river and have a drink.  The drink prices aren't too bad, and they are a decent size.  Service was fast.  The two negatives (big negatives for me):  cash only and cover charge on weekends.

As I walked down the plank to meet my sister and my brother-in-law following my nephew and elderly father, I thought I had gotten one last reprieve from the end of summer bummers. The sun shining and the breeze blowing through this " bar on a barge" and the signs for fish and shrimp specials made me think of similar dives in Florida and Virginia Beach.
I was enjoying the feel of sitting on the deck and the lapping of the water, when I suddenly noticed that the floor was moving from under me! I realized that I was feeling queasy. I had gotten sea sick from the boats jetting past
Needless to the say the food was decent, at least the food I could stomach. I had wisely ordered a hamburger and fries. My family enjoyed  their shrimp and fish combos, because none of them had the nausea that I did.
There were a few problems getting  the waitress to bring me a drink too. I waited over 20 minutes for the Diet Coke I ordered and received a regular Coke instead. it took the delivery of the food for the waitress to come back to the table and find out the mistake.
I really enjoyed the view. The food was not half bad and the service was not horrible. However, I would warn anyone that has seasickness when getting on any type of boat that they may not feel well soon after arriving.

We have been to the LBYC several times in the past. Tonight was the first time this season. In the past we have always enjoyed the food and the environment. Tonight not so much.

The sunset was beautiful our table was sticky and the Juke Box way toooooo loud. Casual conversation was impossible. I ordered the LBYC Salad a chef salad and it was pretty good. My wife ordered a Mett fries and slaw. The fries were saturated in grease looked like maybe she got the bottom of the fryer fries. Tasteless crunch sticks. Service was okay although we had to remind the server to wide the table and bring a side item twice.

Too bad because we were looking forward to a relaxing evening on the river. Instead we left as soon as we were finished and had a bad feeling about the whole experience.

Feel like a vacation but don't have the time or money? Go to Ludlow Bromley Yacht club for dinner. The restaurant is all outside so make sure the sun is out and enjoy a burger in paradise. This restaurant is off the water and always packed on a nice day. Don't expect anything fancy here, just some tiki huts and plastic tables and chairs with country music playing in the background. On another note, this place feels a little conservative, as a lesbian couple we are so use to being stared at we don't even notice (sad I know) but at this place there was no denying we confused the regular patrons who arrived via Harley. While the patrons were a little.....weird....our server was awesome. At this restaurant the servers do not have sections; it is more of a free for all. This scared me and my gut instinct was that they were going to be unorganized, but she had it together. Our water glasses were always full and she made sure we had everything we needed.

On to the food- This is a burger and fry kind of place, so that is exactly what we ordered. The food came out hot and greasy. They were super yummy. We have decided that they were not the best burgers but pretty damn good especially with some cold beer.

Paying the bill was a little tricky. Since this place is outside---BEWARE OF WIND. I set down a 20 dollar bill and got caught in conversation and didn't even notice that it flew away! Thankfully one of the staring patrons saw the 20 dollars right by my shoe and was able to lean down at an awkward angle to get it for me.  (Do I think he was trying to see up my skirt....let's give him the benefit of the doubt, after all he rescued my $20)

Yikes!  Read the headlines about how this place has been dumping raw sewage into the Ohio River?  As if this place wasn't already a barge of floating irony.  Told a buddy of mine about this, and he responds "And the Pope is Catholic."

This nonchalant attitude to a major health code violation kind of sums up the Ludlow Bromley Yacht Club.  This place can be a floating heck hole, with overpriced drinks, cash only, crappy bathrooms, and serves as a miniature reunion for most of the area's high schools each weekend in the summer.  Despite these things, or rather because of them, people flock in droves to this place every weekend despite the lack of yachts and, well, a properly working sewage system.

The whole idea of a yacht club conjures up the idea of exclusivity, however this place is one of the most democratic and welcoming establishments in the Tri-State.  Each weekend the parking lot will be packed and this floating wonderland is filled with peoples of all ages and all walks of life, usually listening to cover bands and enjoying a nice domestic can.

The "member fee" of course is the cover you pay on the weekends and the exorbitantly high price that you pay for domestic cans.  I mean come on, 10 bucks, or more, for 5 cans is not a good deal anywhere, but you are paying for the privilege to be on the water.

A few tips for those who want to become members:
    1) CASH ONLY.  There is an ATM on there somewhere, but I think the fees are high
    2) Don't look at the moving parts of the boat, because you won't be able to not focus on the movements and you might get seasick, arggh!
    3) Best night at the Yacht Club is grill your own steak night on Mondays.  Yes this is a real thing and it is awesome, even for "high class" snobs like myself.  For around 13 bucks you get a decent sized steak, baked potato, roll, greens, and free use of three propane grills to grill up your own masterpiece.

So in short you don't need to be a millionaire or have a boat to become a member.  Boats can dock there, but the only boats I have ever seen are the over-sized SUVs in the parking lot.  Regardless, if you have not enjoyed this summertime tradition, it is a must, no matter what your scene is.  Please check it out and revel in the funny stories and wasted money, just hopefully by then they have fixed the whole sewer thing.  As another buddy of mine said, "Knowing that place, I am sure there are at least 100 plumbers around here who would fix it for free!"

A really great location, with a classy, yet fun atmosphere. Plenty of open seats, a place to dance, a place to drink. It really is the kind of place that has a little bit of something for everyone. It is quite loud and the beer is a bit pricey, but for this kind of place that is quite understandable. If you're looking for a club/bar/sit down place this is the place to go and is great if you've got a diverse group where some people want a night club atmosphere and others want a bar atmosphere.

It's funny that this is a yacht club. I guess it has all the necessary equipment, but maybe it would be better classified as a low-end speedboat club. Not in a bad way though. I had lunch here at the end of summer with some friends. It's an open air floating restaurant/bar so that worked out just fine. The salad I had was fresh and everyone else's meal looked straightforward if not just prepared as SYSCO (a food distributor) intended it to be. No complaints - but no pizzaz.

Bottom Line: I might be back if friends insist we go in nice weather.

This place is honestly indescribable. I could tell you that they serve beer, make good food, and have docks for boaters to tie off and join the fun. I could tell you how they don't accept credit cards but have a conveniently-located ATM for everyone to use. I could tell you how every time I've been here, it's better than the last time I went.

Bottom line: go here, especially in the summer when you can appreciate the river, the cool refreshing breeze, and the great carefree attitude that can only come from a yacht club in warm weather.

My favorite summer night hangout spot. I always have a great time here. Really friendly crowd... everyone and anyone will talk to you, so be prepared to be chatted up. I haven't experienced the food, but one friend rated dinner 'ok', another said 'really good'. By getting there early to eat though, they were able to avoid the $5 cover. Or you can arrive by boat and avoid it that way, too. Another reason I need boat-friends!

    Other important tips:
*On really crowded weekend nights, save the headache of driving in circles around the crowded parking lot and just park on the street and walk.
*Ladies room - if the line gets really long, have someone washing their hands check to see if the private bathrooms on either side of the sink are open.
*Bring cash or your debit card for the ATM

"A Yacht Club? ... In Kentucky? ... On the Ohio River? And you want me to go?"

This is the question everyone inevitably asks when the place is mentioned, either out of angry disbelief or shocked confusion. I know I was amongst them. What kind of fake-snooty ass place is this? Seriously? Come on...

Still, everyone always gets psyched about it when it's mentioned, so when I had a chance to go to a friend's birthday party there this weekend, well, I was ready to check it out and get my class on.

Here's the thing no one told me about The Yacht Club ... the name's ironic. Or at least, in cheeky fun. You can indeed drive your boat right up there and park, since it is on the river, but that's where the high-society part stops. This is, in fact, an all-night party spot full of loud, awesome bands, cheap, awesome drinks and good, awesome people.

You get to the parking lot and are greeted by a giant angry shark put on a pike, glairing down at you. Oh my. From there it only gets better. You park in a gravel field and walk down a long plank into the club, which feels like a backwards bar lost somewhere on the bayou. Everything is wood, the back deck is just as large as the inner rooms and everyone's drinking and dancing and enjoying the night.

They've got a crappy selection of beer, only in bottles or cans, and some bar food. It's fantastic. What's that? A credit card? Oh no, this is not a place that takes credit cards. Put that crap away, you're embarrassing yourself here.

The ONLY problem I had, which knocked it down from a five-star experience to a begrudgingly still awesome four-star, was the cover they charged. This is not an all-the-time kind of thing, and only happened because there was a band playing that night. Don't get me wrong, it was a very good band, however this is a punk-ass low-class high-fun bar and you're going to charge me to get in because some cover band happens to be on your deck? I cry fowl, sirs!

Still, the night was awesome and I finally get the appeal of a place called "The Yacht Club." If only there was a website that could have told me what this place was like, maybe with real reviews from real people, I might not have dismissed it for so long. Oh, if only a website existed like that, this would be a better world!

Love the open air atmosphere of this place!  The way that the deck where we were sitting outside the main bar area rocks a little bit due to the wake of passing boats.  It is so reminiscent of what I miss about coastal Florida bars.
Be prepared, they don't take credit credit or debit cards (but there is an ATM on site) and don't expect the latest in micro-brew beers, there are no taps; beers come in a bottle or can.
Bar food options are available, I understand that the Grouper sandwich and the hamburgers are solid choices if not 5-star quality.  The name is more tongue in cheek than pretentious; this place does not pretend to be something it is not.  It is a top level "dive bar" and for me, it was love at first sight.  I will most definitely be back, again and again.

The food is what I'd call high end bar food, that's not a slam, just reality. And I get cravings for battered fish all the time, and they're the first place hit the mark for exactly what I want in battered fish.

A Yacht Club? Really? On the river? In Ludlow???

Okay, so the image I had in my head and what I actually saw when I arrived at Ludlow Bromley Yacht Club were as different as can be.  But that ceased to matter the minute I set foot on the floating bar.  All I could think was, "I'm home!"  You see, I grew up in Florida, and have frequented many a beach dive bar. This place had it all. From the terrible decor to the palm trees to very poor drink selection.  In fact, if you are going for a fine beer or cocktail, you're going to the wrong place.  They just don't have it.

What they do have is atmosphere.  Coming out the wazoo.  You can't help but relax and have a good time with friends.  It is truly an oasis on the river.  And for me, a reminder of my roots.

Upon arrival, it looks as though one would be approaching a junk yard. The Shark-adorned sign gaudily welcomes its patrons. Their watered-down-RC-inspired "diet Coke" is sub-par. They serve said pop in styrofoam cups. And if you happen to get an ice water, it looks kind of mucky, as though your server scooped it straight from the Ohio.

Yet none of that even matters. Somewhere between its spray-painted truck trailer facade and uber cheesy decor, the ambiance really is unparalleled. Ludlow Bromley Yacht Club (LBYC or "the Yacht Club" for frequenters) and its laid back atmosphere are some of the biggest components of summer that I look forward to come every April (or May, depending on when they decide to open). I absolutely love this place.

On the boat there is a large bar and plenty of seating to enjoy the beautiful river views. The food on their menu is pretty decent, and they have outstanding daily dinner specials--the Monday night grill-it-yourself Steak dinner is a favorite. You really couldn't ask for a more inexpensive, wonderful place to eat dinner and hang out with friends, especially after a long, hot day of boating on the river.

LBYC also features Sunday brunches, live bands, and the convenience of only accepting cash.

"Hey Mike, we're going to head down to the Yacht Club tonight. It's this place along the Ohio river"

"Oh... wow! Alright then, see you there"

Then I proceeded to wear nice slacks, a button up shirt and tie, along with a nice hat. As we are making the drive there, I'm starting to realize this Yacht Club is not in a neighborhood I would consider Yacht Club Goers material. Not to rag on Ludlow - it's a nice place. But you know what I mean.

When we pull into the gravel lot surrounded by pickup trucks, it pretty much clinches it for me. They use the term "yacht" very liberally. By very liberally, I mean "here's some old boats we stuck in the water". I can say with 100% certainty I was the best dressed bloke there.

Ah well, I could ditch the tie. And sticking out a bit is good, ya know? So I went to get a beer. No credit, flippin' fantastic. That limits my alcohol choices to 1) Cheap 2) Free. They were all out of #2, so I stuck with #1, a Budweiser. They handed me a can. Really? A can? Inferior taste to bottle aside, I can't be rocking this nice hat while holding a can! It's just not done!

I was expecting to get more attention than I did with my fancy ensemble. Maybe you're expecting a fancy story? I'm sorry to say, nothing of the sort happened. One guy complimented me on my hat, but other than that, I felt like everyone was in a social clique I was not a part of. Let it be known I did go back again wearing a flannel and cargos, and sort of felt the same way.

Maybe you have to be a regular, or it's not my kind of place. Regardless, I just didn't really seem to fit in at the Yacht Club. I also felt their alcohol was a bit overpriced, especially if they're just handing you a can out of the 24-pack they picked up at Krogers prior. If I'm paying that much, you could at least make a token gesture and open the can for me.

I give it a point for ambiance, it is pretty cool to be hanging out on a boat. While we were there, another boat full of people sailed on by and we exchanged drunken yells - can't beat that. Not really my scene, though I'd be willing to check it out again if they made the alcohol a bit more affordable.

Over the weekend I took my wife to see a movie on the levee and then we headed to Ludlow-Bromley Yacht Club which is ON the River. When I think of a place on the river, I think of a place like the cabana bar or hooters, but neither of those places are LITERALLY on the river. It took some time getting use to sitting at our table while waves would take us up and down and up and down. I didn't know if I could handle the movement, but I soon got use to it. It was strange because I never get motion sick and I love being on a boat. I think it was because I didn't expect it and possibly because I was very hungry.

We ordered up an appetizer and a bucket of beers. We got Potato "Chips" instead of skins, loaded with cheese and bacon. They were so good and hit the spot. They were thinner cut than potato skins which I thought was better because it was less potato and more cheese and bacon. Next time I could probably just get some of those and their onions straws and drink some beers and call it a night.

I got a beer battered cod while my wife got the grilled grouper (which I should have gotten, I was even told by our waiter to order the grouper). Mine was good, pretty basic, but I couldn't complain. I got the chips that come with the sandwich and my wife got the onion straws knowing that we would share both. The chips were just your basic lays potato chips, nothing fancy, but the onion straws were delicious. I am yet to have bad onions straws though. These weren't as stringy as the boathouse's onion straws and they weren't as thick as white castle's onions pedals. They were more like french fries and they were very good.

We got there around 7PM and we sat ourselves pretty close to the river. Live music starts at 9PM and they are open till 2AM every night. I would love to go back with a group of friends to just sit out by the river and drink some beers and order up some appetizers. I don't know if I would ever really go there just for their food, but the whole experience is awesome. Can't get much better of a view and it is very calming (once you get use to the movement of course). We didn't stay for the music, so I am not sure what kind it would have been. I do know that you need to bring cash or you will be stuck with a $3 ATM fee to get some cash out. But even with the $3 fee and tip, we left with only spending $43 for the two of us.

I am excited to have a new place to go to that is outside with a view and I am glad the prices are a lot cheaper than the cabana bar. We will be sure to be back and next time it will be later in the evening so I'll let you know how the music is.

I had the Cuban burger and it was pretty good. Monday is steak night so its super affordable and delicious. Its definitely a party scene, bring your bikini and lay out on the deck on the Ohio River! BUT CASH ONLY! Leave the plastic at home.

When I invite people to the Ludlow-Bromley Yacht Club, they are often hesitant.  Their first response is always, "a yacht club?"  I have to explain that yacht is a loose term here.  There are cans of beer coming out of Styrofoam coolers.  They don't take credit cards.  And while there is a fair share of people who gladly refer to themselves as hillbillies, there's also a college/YP crowd, senior folk- like Sara Lee, nobody doesn't like LBYC.
