I have been to the Blue Bar before and enjoyed my evening. My last time there wasn't so pleasant. I was on the party bus for Gay Pride and when we pulled up everyone on the bus wondered if they were open. I was happy to see they were open. I ordered a beer, they have a decent selection. I was half way through my beer when I realized it was not quenching my thirst, it was hot as heck in here. One of my peeps asked what was up with the heat and the employee said the air wasn't on. Are you kidding me?  It is July! We left and walked to Bar Monet.

Although the neighborhood seems a little sketchy at times, Blue Bar certainly isn't. They recently repainted and rehabed the interior. It's alot more "trendy" now than it had been in the past. The service has been and still is very good for a bar. They seem to bring in new drinks every now and then just to bring some flare.

It is typically dead during the week but the weekends seem to bring in some decent business. There is a patio area that I didn't know about so hopefully I will get to check that out this summer. All in all its a decent place to grab a drink with friends. It would definitely be my recommended gay bar in Covington.

When I was 18 and hanging out in Covington, Pike street was usually avoided unless you were a career alcoholic, seeking help from the halfway house or visiting the local drop in center. These days the area is a continuation of the the revitalization going on throughout the Main Strasse district and up Madison Avenue. I've also found Covington has quite the vibrant GLBT scene, barely bested by Northside. Blue Bar seems to be most recent bar to open with a queer twist. I drove past it several time on my bicycle before looking up reviews myself and dragging my girlfriend there.

The space wonderful, very bright (maybe too bright) and when we visited it was full of women of all shapes, sizes and ages. We were in true character with our quiet complaints about the digital juke box and photo booth (Can someone tell me again when quick developing film and jukes with compact disks become antiquated) but everything was clean and the service was good. The second room has several large pool table and lots of electronic dart boards. The decor is shabby chic, plenty of raw brick and rough flooring in lovely contrast with the fabric blocks on the walls and the plush church pew. I'll often a make harsh judgement of a restaurant or club based on the state of the restrooms. This one was nothing special but was clean a comfortable, I'd happily offer them an B+ for their facilities.

I will visit again for sure but the seats were a little too stiff, the prices a little too high and the lighting a little too bright for me to rush back tomorrow. Regardless, It's been wonderful seeing the area continue to embrace it's queer community.
