This place was a complete joke. Pathetic outside area for this 'luxe' establishment. It was hot. It wasn't comfortable. Checked in on Yelp, received the free drink offer, and the bartender wouldn't honor it. The workers seemed snobby and I felt off the whole night because of the bouncer's smug look when I went in.

Last night Luxe hosted the RAW Artists event. Prior to this I have only been to Luxe a handful of times. Whenever I've gone it's usually been for some type of VIP event. The VIP areas are a nice enough size and the servers are always extremely nice. I prefer this type of set up, because when I go out my main focus is to socialize with my friends.

I thought it was pretty cool that Luxe hosted this event from 8pm to midnight on a Friday night. The space wasn't the most accommodating for an art show, but they worked with what space they did have and it was manageable. A lot of people showed up, so that was another reason there wasn't a lot of space.

If you're looking for a place to get VIP for a birthday party or event with a few friends I would recommend Luxe, but maybe not if you're expecting a large amount of guests.

Not horrible, but after being shot down for a "check-in" free drink special elicits a less than favorable review.  Overall: hot, loud, slightly annoying, but at least their drinks are decently priced, you're going to need one... or ten.

Luxe is re-vamped and looking good! I recently went in there for their cigar and bourbon tasting this Monday (the day the Reds ended their 10 game streak :( ). For $30, you got 6 premium cigars and 6 different bourbons to taste! The staff and management were great to talk to and very friendly. The atmosphere gives it a really trendy/upscale feeling to it. Great place for a private event.

I should admit upfront that Luxe is so very NOT the kind of place we would normally frequent. The whole nightclub thing is several decades behind us now... but I have to say "Thank funk it is!"

This was a horrible and disgusting experience. And let me say I can set my "horrible and disgusting" meter pretty low when I have to.

We were paying ($15 cover!!) guests of one of the photographers showing at a "RAW: natural born artists" evening there and we immediately felt very sorry for our friend. Whatever a classy gallery show is, this was the exact opposite.

Now, I don't know if it was the fault of Luxe or Raw but I would imagine the primary factor in appreciating any kind of art is that you can actually SEE it?!! However, on this night almost every piece in the show was forced to be hung in the dark or, at best, shrouded in some kind of dimly lit mystery.

What WAS definitely the fault of Luxe was the surroundings. I can't imagine the owners of this place EVER mop or clean the floors. On the main level we were sticking to the floor with every step either of us took. Worse waited up on one of the small carpeted riser levels where - and I am not making this up - we both stuck and squelched our way across it. *UGH!!*

The bathrooms were no better. Dirty, unkempt and located so that whenever the doors opened anyone stood at a urinal can be viewed by people on the main floor. If that's your kink, fine, but for most normal people it's a major turn-off.

To the chagrin of our friend we lasted no more than 15 minutes in the place, the thought of just how disgusting the floor was paramount in our mind. At least we worked out why they keep the lighting so dim... they obviously don't want you to see how filthy the place must really be.

Another yelper described Luxe as "a decorated shed". That just about sums it up

New owners! New Style! I met the owners and they seemed like legends, and I have a pretty quality legend detector. For a good time in Cinnci, I would certainly bring the party here!

If you want to dance, platy trivia, listen to live music, or karaoke, Luxe is your place. They have gone under new ownership since I last reviewed them with 2 stars.

Under the previous ownership it seemed they were confused about what type of venue they wanted to be. Dance club, premier bar, corporate event venue....

The new owners have gotten it under wraps by hosting something fun each night they are open. They have a trivia night, as well as a karaoke night. On Friday's they have live music and Saturday's they have a great DJ to dance to.

The bartenders that I have came in contact with, guys and girls, are all very nice. They are also equipped with a quaint patio for any smoker's that are interested in visiting. The cover is low at $5, which is great, especially if it is a good band on Friday night.

The best part is they offer a free cocktail/wine/beer check-in offer on Yelp!

    What are you waiting for?!

I hit up this downtown hotspot's latest interpretation on opening weekend.  With a mix of a great location, a large potential space for dancing, a large bar that should be able to accommodate the appetites, and a name that might indicate an upscale experience, I can imagine you might expect a really good time from this bar.  If I had to pay to get in here, I certainly would.  You would likely  be disappointed.  Despite a fresh face, this bar is the same overpriced, over-decorated den of bad music, weak drinks, and over-anxious patrons gathered on the edge of the dance floor waiting for the party to start.  If that's your scene, this is your bar - it's not mine.  I won't be back.

The place that goes THUNK at night!

This is one of those relatively boring culture creatures that dwells under the veil of exclusivity.  Some are fooled by queues and velvet ropes, bouncers and cover charges, and a shiny new sign spelling out some sort of remotely alluring or forbidding name.  Fooled into thinking they are getting something special.

Don't be one of the fools.  This is a decorated shed.  This is a bar in a dark room where college-aged thousandaire yutzes go to rub their bodies on one another and pretend they are millionaire trust fund socialites.

I saw a decent band here the other night, but to me it's just not worth it to make this a regular stop.

I've got mixed feelings about this place but overall, it was a fine place to start my weekend. I am sick of Cincinnati clubs trying to project some kind of upscale-we're-better-than-you attitude. (And Luxe is not the only guilty bar downtown) There's a reason why they have such a short lifespan and places like Arnold's have been around for over a 150 years. Alright, so the interior of Luxe is, ready for it?, pretty  luxurious and upscale. I am not the biggest fan of paying covers to get in to a place where I will then pay for alcohol or food, so I recommend trying to get on a guest list or something. *Advice: call ahead and (don't lie) tell them you are thinking of bringing a decent number of people and see if you can get on the list.

The band we saw were turned up way too loud as was the DJ music that played between sets. This isn't a surprise as every club plays their music too loud for conversation and safe listening levels. If what Alycia says is true about Luxe wanting to be some kind of hybrid venue, good luck. It sounds like Play's m.o. and I think it just dilutes your brand and confuses (potential) customers. I would love it if there was a place downtown where people actually danced and had a good time. Simple. I miss the crazy awesome dance mania of Have a Nice Day Cafe and Bar Cincinnati, etc. (sorry for showing my age....now get off my lawn! :) )

The bar staff were good and quick to serve all the thirsty people. Good staff will make or break this place. As far as the doormen are concerned, I don't mind as I know better than to show up to a place with this reputation in shorts and sandals. You come dressed to impressed and hopefully will not have any problems.

Luxe isn't for everyone, heck, it's not really for me now that I'm not in college or in my 20's, but if I want to be in a fairly swanky place and maybe start or end a special occasioned evening, I think Luxe would be ok.

Ok, so the management is new, ownership might be new?
We went in to catch a live band, and it wasn't horribly crowded so the experience wasn't terrible.  The wait staff was on top of things and I was able to get a drink, and the bartender didn't have to keep asking me if I had a tab.  ALways a nice touch.  5$ for a guiness is about a dollar more than I like to pay at a bar, but you are paying for atmosphere, so take it as that.  We were on the guest list so we didn't pay a cover, which is always something I hate to do, so it was nice to get in and just enjoy the band.  Nice place, couple of good looking bar tenders, but yea, too loud to talk if that's what you're looking to do.

Luxe is a typical downtown Cincinnati bar/club. I wouldn't say it worse than any other club downtown, but I wouldn't say it is particularly any better then the next bar.

Like many of the 'clubs" they will charge a $5 cover on the weekend which I despise especially since I typically will not stay here for much longer than 90 minutes and $5 is a 5/6th of a Jack and Coke here. Covers cut into my drinking (my liver loves covers).

Luxe has a dance floor, VIP section and a bar in the center of its space with typically 3 or 4 bartenders working it and it has lasted longer than the previous occupant of its space, Passages.

This is just another run of the mill "pop collar" place that people call a bar or a club. This is just not my scene.

While the service is bad, the set up wasn't horrible. It takes a while to get a drink, you feel like your going to get mugged by the doorman, and the atmosphere doesn't really let you strike up a conversation with your neighbor.

This was a disaster before and it's a disaster now.

There are a few things wrong with this place. Primarily, it serves no purpose. A running theme for me is that I complain about the volume in the bars downtown and Luxe is no different. A bar should either be one you can have a conversation in or can dance in. You can do neither in Luxe. The dance floor can hold about 20 people on it yet the music is pumped so loud that you can't hear someone next to you.

Can you meet people by standing next to them and nodding? No. So Luxe fails miserably. It's amateur. Luxe SHOULD be a club like Lunar or Bartini (not saying either of those are great, but they're have legitimate dance floors) and it SHOULD have music blasting, but it's laid out like a bar. This is no place to meet people. Then again, the people here typically aren't worth meeting.

Of course, the last time I went in less than 20 people were there, so we could all have fit on the dancefloor...

Despite the name, there's no class here. It's a step above Whisky, which was a lateral from Cadillac Ranch, which is the last place you'd ever want to meet someone.

my very first one star review.

    not a good place.

walked in to try something different.

walked out when we stood there for 5 minutes and NO ONE showed up to take an order.

i give this place another month or two and then it's gone.

Just another compilation of douchery that people like to call a bar. Or a club. Either way, it's not my scene.

The set-up isn't awful, but the service leaves much more to be desired. At one point I waited nearly 10 minutes for a drink -- it was not even 11pm and it wasn't all that crowded. Thankfully, I wasn't there long enough to have to use the restroom, though I'd like to hope that it is at least cleaner than Cadillac Ranch's.

The decor isn't terrible but it could just as easily be FB's or the upstairs at Mainstay. Basically, it's just like every other bar-wannabe-club downtown.

I should know better going into these places and take them for what they are, this is just a meh venue all around. Let's just say I wouldn't have even stepped foot into this place except I'm a good friend and went as part of a birthday celebration.

I am writing this review as a service to all man kind.

I had hands down the worst customer service experience in my entire adult life at Luxe Nightclub. First of all, I was reluctant to even go in because of all the bad things I had heard about it already and it just opened up. But I was meeting a friend that I hadn't seen in a long time and she insisted.

First off they greet you at the door like you stole something. I literally got arm-barred from the huge security guard, like the cliche in movies.

I walk up to the bartender and order three beers at $3 a piece. My total should be $9 dollars (stay with me). So as I am waiting for my receipt the bartender is asking me how my night is going etc. He slides me three shots across the bar and says to my and my girlfriends, "here these are for you..." and then say's "Oh, and I am keeping your card here with me, trust me, you will have more fun this way."

I don't know what this guy was thinking, I had asked to cash out before but maybe couldn't hear me above the music I don't know, so I ask him again, "Can I please have my receipt? I would like to cash out please." He say's "Why didn't you take your shot, you really need to lighten up." For the third time ignoring my request, he says, "I'm keeping your card, go have fun." At this point I am irate, and I turn to my friend, and say he won't give me my card back. She goes to find a manager.

Finally he reluctantly gives me my receipt and I see that he had charged me $15 for three beers ($9). I ask him why he charged me $15 and he says because he gave me three "free" shots. (I am pretty sure he just assumed me and my friends were drunk and that he could charge us and just get away with it.) I say to him, if my bill is $15 when it should have been $9 then they obviously were not "free."

Meanwhile ALL THREE shots are still sitting on the bar, none of them had been touched. He and I both knew that I did not order the shots in the first place. I am so completely annoyed at this point I just say you know what forget it. I sign the bill for $15 and tip him $1. When I look back at the situation I have no idea why I even tipped him! I think it was just out of habit. I slide him the bill, and no joke he holds the bill up to my face so I can see it and says to me "ONE DOLLAR? You tipped me one dollar? I gave you three free shots? and all I got was one dollar? Where is the other money I deserve?"  (All three shots literally still sitting on the bar.)

This ladies and gentleman was the most disgusting comment/gesture I have ever witnessed.  After this my girlfriends pretty much flung the shots at the bartender, said a few choice words, and we got the hell out of there.

Word to the wise, this place is anything but "luxe." This establishment is an embarrassment to Cincinnati and I give it two months before it closes down, just like its predecessor "Passage."
