This place made my girlfriend sick. Never ordering here again.

The food is so-so. About what you can expect from a grease pit. But the service is terrible! Our order was messed up and they didn't apologize or offer to make it right. When asked to talk to a manager they hung up on us. Forget that nonsense. There are a dozen other places nearby serving mediocre hot dogs.

I've ordered the gyros plate, cheeseburger, and the hot dog special...pretty good! Fresh ingredients, food cooked to order, clean and friendly staff. Char grilled burgers is a huge plus. They've won my business!

I've been here a few times before the move. The prices are decent cheaper than Wolfy's. I would buy the polishes here but not the fries. If you're around here, it's a good choice/ If you have to travel far to get here, skip it.

I've only just visited this place for the second time. and I can only kick myself for not coming sooner. my whole life, I've lived in this neighborhood and I never even knew the place existed. it took the advice of one of my old schoolmate's fathers to come visit here. my second visit and I've already been ranked as a regular. that's something else I'd say. I will definitely be coming more often and I'll even bring my girlfriend Sarah along. maybe I'll even get to eat here with some friends sometime.

OoOOk .. so here it goes.  Prepare for a doozy (sp??).  My boyfriend and I ordered from here via grub hub one night a couple of months ago.  The gyros were good and so were the fries.  We did the 2 gyro special.  I also got a strawberry banana milkshake which was delish!  The delivery guy was cool and although the food was luke-warm and we had to reheat it we didn't mind too much.  So .. "Hey Desiree, why the one solitary star then??" you ask?  Well my friend, I'll tell you why!

After making a trip to home depot to get some moving supplies I convinced the boyfriend to fore-go the yummy hot dogs I usually get there for Maxwell's Grill.
After reluctantly agreeing he slowly (and sad faced) put back his can of Hawaiian punch he was set to get.  So Yay!  Excited, I hightail it 5 minutes down Devon to Cali.  I park in the parking lot and we're feeling excited.  Andrew starts looking at the pictures in the window debating what he wants as I practically run in.  After much debate I decide on the gyro since it was a safe bet.  My boyfriend goes for the Italian beef.  And here's where it all starts to go down hill.  First i get 2 dollars worth of change back in quarters because the cashier didn't have singles.  Ok .. fine .. no problem.  We take our cups to the pop machine (yes I said pop) Andrew goes for the lemonade, which turns out to be tea.  Ok ... so then he goes for the root beer.  Oops .. all out .. Laughing at him I go for the cherry coke .. alas .. the joke is on me because the cherry coke is a no go as well.  We let them know "Excuse me, your pop machine is sans pop."  .. So the girl goes outside and gets some guy (an owner??) he comes in and starts fiddling with the machine.. Uh oh .. it doesn't work.  Just greeeaaat!  No root beer no cherry coke ..we are now stuck with the only 2 acceptable options .. orange Fanta and regular coke .. bleh .. still we do not complain.  I hop over to ask for a cup of cheese and after paying .82 cents I am informed that "umm .. I have to fix it ..." ...

ok .. more waiting.  We get our food (Andrews beef is missing the fries for now) .. I dig into my gyro meat, I always eat the meat before the pita .. hahaha the beginnings of a bad joke?? not so much =/.  The girl brings my cheese which is watery and bland :(  Do I complain?  Nope .. cuz I'm a good and understanding customer.  But THEN Andrew takes a bite of his beef.  He cringes and states "this beef is too dry" .. no I did not step into a Goldilocks skit so I taste it.  Yup .. it is way too dry and the meat tastes old.  Portillo's or Jay's it is not.  He goes up and lets them know.  Ooooh boy ..here is where it REALLY gets interesting!  The girl makes a phone call and comes to our table and tells us "My manager said to just give you your money back.  We aren't going to offer you anything else because if you don't like it we don't want to waste." .. OH WOW! ... ok .. that's fine .. I simply nod and smile and say "Ok, that's fine." .. Andrew is pretty mad but I convince him that it's ok, we'll pick something up on the way for him, in the mean time he has some of my gyro meat and is satisfied.  Du du du ..more eating .. then a man walks in with a cocky little sway in his step.  He walks behind the counter, talks to the girl .. and sways his way toward us but not near us .. he yells "hey, what was wrong with that Italian beef?" .. oh I'm sorry .. are you belligerently addressing us?  My boyfriend answers "Hey .. it was dry and the meat tasted old."  I chime in and agree.  The man states .. with his cocky little swagger still in hand .. "Yeah well I don't know man, I order all of my stuff fresh.  So you can pay for the fries and soda you got." .. Ok WOW!!  I said "that is perfectly fine ,no worries."  ..My boyfriend was livid and i had to talk him down.  "Oh he wants us to pay for the fries I'm not eating and the soda I didn't want in the first place?" .. Eek .. "yes honey ... that is exactly what he wants" .. =/ ... The man sways his behind back out the door to disappear into that void that only certain douchebags come out of with their douchebaggery shenanigans and we finish our meal .. seething a bit.  As I get up and walk towards the door the girl reminds me I have to pay .. (yeah thanks .. I didn't forget toots.) So I pay her the 3.15 from the 6.29 she gave back for the entire meal and tell her to inform the owner that he needs to take classes on how to provide better customer service or even how to speak to people . We then pit stop at Villa Palermo's and go home.

As someone who runs 5 retail stores in Chicago I was highly offended. He was belligerent, cocky, offensive, rude, and down right offensive (wait did I say that one?). Obviously he had never heard of "The customer is always right ..even when they're wrong."  Maxwell's Grill ... you make me happy that I am moving back to my beloved, and customer friendly, Logan square/Wicker Park area. And THAT my friends ... is all I have to say about THAT!

It can be hard to find a burger and fries around Devon and California. Maxwell Grill fills that need! The food is good and the service is friendly. Also, the place itself is comfortable and clean.

I have eaten here many times and always enjoy the food. I mostly stick to hot dogs and burgers. I really want to try the ribs though. Maybe on my next visit.

The food is not 'dirt-cheap' but it's not expensive, by any stretch. It's good quality food (no mystery hot dogs) and I am happy to pay a smidge extra for it.

Great food here, the beef is always well dipped and juicy. Fast service and always a warm welcome.
I also would like to recommend the cheese fries.

It is nice to have this kind of grill in the neighborhood. Sometimes ya just want a beef sandwich, or some fries and this place fits the bill. Yes, I have had better, but this was just fine for a neighborhood grill.

The fries are good. They were very hot and crispy. I was not overly impressed with the Italian beef, but it was ok. Chris really enjoyed his cheese steak sandwich.

They seemed to be doing a good business there. I hope they will be successful.

Absolutely delicious double cheeseburger! Not many places to grab some old fashion burgers and hot dogs on Devon and Maxwell Grill has stepped up to the plate. The menu includes gyros, ribs, chicken, philly steak, kabobs, eggplant, hot wings and my favorite FRESH CUT FRIES!!!!! Oh and free refills is so awesome when you are eating there. Did I mention the place is huge, plenty of seating and presentation...very clean. I can't wait to try their dinner plates...thats next on my list.

Plenty of parking in their private lot too, no worries about paying for those silly meters in the street.
