Maxwell's is a fine place for a drink and a bite to eat after work.
We met up with a group for a co-workers going away party. Â The staff at Maxwell's was great- for our group of 15 they "reserved" the back part of a decent sized room (plenty of tables, booths & bar stools available) and offered up an extended happy hour and the waitress stopped by often to take orders. Â
We ordered up some guac/chips which were pretty standard, and a whole bunch of flatbread pizzas- the most popular being topped with bacon. Â Yum! Â Apparently the mushroom flatbread was pretty good too... but bacon totally won over our group.
I didn't drink so I can't comment on the cocktails but the rest of the group seemed to love the wine selection. Â Happy Hour runs everyday from 4-7 so the chances of me stopping back to try some of those drinks is very likely. Â Who wants to join me!?
The place itself isn't very nice. Might have been empty except for this one group of about 15 military students or whatever they're called visiting manhattan from West Point. Other than that not sure anyone else was there...
But the bartender Paul was SO nice. (Don't want to get him in trouble) but I told him 3 of the people I met there could order drinks on my tab. I think I had four drinks and he charged me $16. That was the price of only 2, and I had also ordered a beer for one of the girls I met.
Don't want people to get the idea they will walk in with a guarantee of free drinks; my point is the bartender was very welcoming and the only reason I would return. This place would have gotten one star if it weren't for Paul.
