    Great pizza!
Great location, great pizza! Love the crust.

The pizza is still delicious! This time around, the prices seemed decent.  However, the initial service (the host) was deplorable. Don't try to sell us that they can't seat us at a 4-top because of how busy they are.  The 2-tops are TINY, especially for a whole pizza and two plates. AND they weren't that busy; there were other SINGLE diners at a couple 4 tops. And the next party of two would have been seated at a 4-top.  I have been in the restaurant biz; I know how it works. Don't snow me. Our server was decent, and we still loved the pizza.

Always delicious.   I take my kids who are fairly picky about pizza and the chomp down a huge slice every time!

This place is called what?  Mellow Mushroom?   Are we seriously going in?  Oh, I am so glad we did!  It was a pleasant surprise for our first dinner in Denver.  We ordered the Holy Shiitake Pie which was a mushroom pizza ( portabella, button, & shiitake) with caramelized onions, a garlic base and spritz of black truffle oil.   Because we were starving we added sausage to our pie and I am so glad we did!

OMG - that was a damn good pizza!   The crust was perfectly chewy and you could taste the garlic perfectly mingling with the mushrooms and caramelized onions.  The sausage wasn't overpowering so with every bite you still remember you ordered a mushroom pizza.

Seriously Mellow Mushroom you made me a fan!  I wish you would come to the bay area because I cringe at the thought I will only see you in Denver for now....

I ordered the Tempeh sandwich with tomatoes and lettuce.  Both of these extras were $0.75 and the lettuce came out wilted and brown.  Rather pricey for a sandwich and not very good.  We also ordered the appetizer of pretzels.  These were pretty good, except a few had raw dough in the middle.  Other people at our table ordered pizza and other hoagies.  Everyone agreed it was just ok.

This place was great! I was on a business trip from California to the Denver Tech Center and decided to swing by Downtown Denver one night for dinner. Even though I don't like Mushrooms I decided to give this place a try :P It was actually REALLY good. We got a simple salad to start and then ordered the thick crust Kosmic Karma pizza and added pesto chicken to it. My boyfriend thought it was a little too much flavor, but honestly, I LOVED it. I really wish there were some in Southern California!

Having grown up in Georgia (the home of the Mellow Mushroom franchise), I've always been a fan of Mellow Mushroom pizza.  I was surprised when I saw the Mellow Mushroom in downtown Denver, as I didn't realize that the franchise had extended this far west.  While I generally tend to avoid chain restaurants, I feel like this Mellow Mushroom has done a great job of avoiding some of the pitfalls commonly associated with larger chain restaurants by offering high quality, fresh food with a local feel.

I often frequent Mellow Mushroom at lunchtime when you can get a large individual slice of cheese pizza for only $2.50.   I love MM's soft, buttery, garlicky, parmesan-covered crust.  I'm generally fairly boring with my pizza selections, but MM offers a wide variety of unique pizza creations and even offers gluten-free pizza (if you are in to that type of thing).  At lunch, I generally just sit at the bar where I can watch any number of their large flat screen TVs playing sports.  The bartenders are always friendly and quick to refill your drink.  I think MM is a great spot to get a quick, cheap, tasty lunch in downtown Denver.

I think one of the things that sets Mellow Mushroom apart from your typical large franchised restaurants is that they offer a great selection of local beers on tap.  MM has at least 30 beers on draft, which include a variety of seasonal and limited release brews from local microbreweries including Great Divide, Odell, and Boulder Beer as well as from other top microbreweries in the country such as Dogfish Head and Stone.  You can always find a rare, limited release Colorado beer on tap at Mellow Mushroom that you would rarely, if ever, find availalbe at local Colorado-born restaurants.  MM's wide selection of local beers gives this location a real local Denver-feel, as opposed to feeling as if some Southeastern pizza chain just dropped into Colorado.  They also have a wide selection of homemade flavor-infused liquors, including numerous different vodkas that have been infused with a variety of fruits (cherry, orange, raspberry, pineapple, and even pickle!! (as well as numerous others)), pineapple-jalapeno-infused tequila, and vanilla-infused whiskey.  I have yet to try any of the flavor-infused liquors, but they are always a pretty tempting sight as you witness the flavor infusion occuring before your eyes in large glass containers above the bar.

I also enjoy going to MM for happy hour.  They offer $3 pints on their draft beer during happy hour and also have various appetizers on special.  As many have mentioned, their bruschetta is pretty delicious.  It consists of pieces of garlic toast topped with diced tomatoes, basil, feta cheese, and seasonings and then drizzled with balsamic vinegar, which adds a nice contrasting element of flavor.  I also really enjoy their pretzels as an appetizer, which incorporate the same delectable elements of the pizza crust (dough, garlic, butter, and parmesan) into a delightfully satisfying companion to happy hour beers.

I'm very pleased that Mellow Mushroom migrated out west with the great pizza that I grew up loving back in the Southeast while adopting the local Denver culture that I have grown to love out here.

I was really built up for the visit here, as it has an awesome reputation from my friends.
The bar selection was diverse and interesting.
The pizza was very heavy, and just not overly flavorful.
They did have some interesting ingredient combinations, but it just wasn't awesome enough for me to come back when there are so many different pizza choices in Denver.

Brunch with an old friend today...I regularly visited Mellow Mushroom when I lived near one in the NW Florida Panhandle.  Absolutely loved it there...today I was less than impressed.  The pizza I ordered came out cool (not hot) and the pretzels were under cooked and doughy in the middle.  Maybe it was the Georgia bowl game that had the cooks distracted...or maybe it was just the normal service.  Next time I'm in town I might give it another shot but with all the other choices in Denver I doubt I'll be back any time soon.

i have eaten here many times while visiting my boyfriend at his office downtown, and it's usually his choice to get some pizza from here. it tastes pretty good, the crust a bit dense for me, but its edible. service is friendly but not so fast. even after waiting 30 minutes after calling in order and then trekking down there, i usually still wait a good 10 minutes or more.

I have always loved Mellow Mushroom no matter where it is. The food is always pretty consistent. I am not a fan of their pizza crust but I love their hoagies. My favorite menu items are the Portabella mushroom sandwich and jerk chicken sandwich.

I'll probably end up giving the Mushroom another shot, but it was fairly generic. I'd like to try one of their specialty pizzas, but the classic pepperoni tasted like a pizza you could get anywhere else. The wings were the real sad story though, as the thai chili sauce it was doused in was delicious, but these were the most miniature wings of all time. I've never seen chicken wings so small before.

Bonus points for cheap beer prices and a great beer selection though.

We came in around 10 pm on a Friday night after watching the parade of lights. Naturally, it was quite crowded, and we were quoted a 30-40 minute wait. We ended up waiting only about 15-20 minutes which we were pretty happy about.

I was very excited to read on the drink menu that they had Pyramid Apricot Ale (a favorite of mine), but was sad when the waitress said they don't serve it anymore. She did however make a suggestion of a similar beer (which I can't remember), which ended up being just as good.

We ordered our pizza shortly  thereafter....... and waited........ and waited....... and waited some more. Luckily we were among good company, otherwise I would've actually noticed how long we truly had to wait for our pies. Finally, one of the managers came over to the table. "Betcha wonder where your pizza is, huh?"...... actually.... yes! Turns out something malfunctioned with their ticket printer and our order never made it to the kitchen. :( They  ended up taking 50% off our pizzas right off the bat, which we were all very happy about. The pizzas were crazy delicious once they made it to our table. We got a medium Funky Q and a medium Thai Dye and it split pretty perfectly between five of us.

This place is pretty great and if it weren't for the caloric explosion that is a slice of pizza here, I'd probably have a hard time staying away!

I'm from Atlanta where I frequented various Mellow Mushrooms on a weekly basis. So when I moved to CO I was excited to see that there was a MM here. I don't know if the altitude, ingredients, or restaurant made the difference but I was disappointed by the taste of the pizza. As far as pizza goes, it was good and the service was great and fast. But I expected it to taste the same as I've always known Mellow Mushroom to taste, but it didn't. And the vibe was so different, very modern and almost like a bar, very unlike any of the other MM I've been to. I think I'll wait to eat at Mellow Mushroom again when I visit back home.

    Dear Jesus,

why have I not been here before?  The location is downtown but the secret is to park underneath it and get parking validated.  I didn't know this till after the fact so don't be spending $10 for parking downtown.

Menu is full of gluten and vegan options!  Sandwiches, local beers, salads, hummus, desserts, and of course pizza.

Their "single" serving is a thick crusted, huge 4 pieces of the pizza of your choice.  The buttery crust...the ooey gooey cheese?  The heavy toppings?  I was in heaven.

The place has plenty of seating but gets packed!! Tons of guys too...so if you're single and ready to mingle...or if you just wanna go stuff your face this is the place to be.

Great place and I will be back again!

As a gluten-free peep this place rocks! Their choices are amazing, their service is fabulous and the vibe of the spot is super groovy!

As a GF freak it is hard to find good pizza but this place does it! Their hummus is also amazing (they gave me celery and carrots to enjoy it). While I couldn't eat the bread in the brushetta I did enjoy the topping - defnitely worth checking out.

If you want a fun spot with delish food, check it out.

I always enjoy visiting Mellow Mushrooms wherever I find them, and having visited more than 10 different MM locations, this one stands out.

Beautiful, brand-new location with great decor, modern and stylish seating and bar, and a very inviting dining area. The usual super menu of fresh-made gourmet pizzas, subs and salads, and of course, the BEER: no less than 38 beers on tap, including over 30 craft brews from around Denver, the state and as far away as Hawaii and Vermont.

Mellow Mushroom is a great place for lunch or dinner, or to just enjoy some really, really great craft beers and watch some sports.

Horrible. Super greasy and made us sick. Sauce tasted like ragu. Cheese was bland.  If we weren't starving and tired if waiting, I would have sent it back.

There's lots of seating here and really comfy booths.  It has more of a sports bar feel than hippie feel which was unexpected.  However, a lot of hippies work here.  I didn't see a problem with the service as most of the reviewers here.  We were served in a very timely manner.

For food, we ordered the stuffed portobello appetizer and the small House Special pizza sans olives (because olives are disgusting).   We also ordered cocktails.  The stuffed portobello is served on a bed of greens so it's like an appetizer and salad in one.  It was good, but a bit too tart for me with the balsamic glaze on the mushroom and the vinaigrette on the greens.  The pizza was delicious and the perfect size for two people (four slices).  The cocktails must've really filled us up because we could only eat one slice of pizza a piece.

The only downside to this place is the price.  The pizza is good, but not that good.

Thank you fellow Yelpers for rating this restaurant. I landed in Denver just a few hours ago and was looking for a spot to grab lunch and you all came to the rescue! My friends and I are from San Diego and wanted to try something different and Mellow Mushroom definitely hit the spot.

I got the tempeh pita sandwich and hummus which were absolutely delicious. My friends both got sandwiches and a slice of pizza and I have to tell you - we were all smiling at the end of our meal.

We'll be here another three days so we might go check it out again before we head out.

Went here to watch the first NFL game of the season since I was staying at a hotel across the street.

The bar was kind of empty but I don't mind that, so I was able to sit down without having to wait or a huge crowd around me. The bar is surrounded by multiple big screen TVs, so you can catch any game you want that is on.

It was happy hour, so all local brews were $3 and they have 30+ to choose from.

I ordered the Magical Mystery Tour pizza, it's a pesto based pizza which is always different but has a ton of flavor. The crust was crunchy but not burnt and the flavor was exactly what I was looking for.

The outside seating is awesome for a low key drink and the melontini was yummy.  Inside, it's definitely a restaurant first and foremost.

We came here on a Saturday afternoon, having been a couple times before and enjoyed the food. There were tables open outside so we asked for one of those and were seated right away. Then, the trouble started. We were sat next to a table with a crying child, which didn't help, but were completely ignored by the waiter finishing up with them. Then came a waitress who also ignored us and wore a skirt so short we got a view of her underwear as she gathered up plates. Thinking they were both just busy finishing their tables, we waited patiently. Over the next 15 min we were ignored completely by both of them once more and finally just walked out without so much as being asked for/brought water. The restaurant wasn't even 75% full! Extremely disappointing and we will be taking our business elsewhere in the future, despite liking the food. We've had better service at the DMV.

After a depressing lack of quality pizza in Colorado Springs this place was a much welcomed reprieve. It was great!

There were four of us and ordered the 16" Mighty Meaty and it was delicious. The crust was cooked perfectly and while there was some grease, it wasn't that bad at all. Just enough to really let you know that the calories you're eating and worth every delectable bite.

Good prices, nice staff and a relaxed atmosphere...we'll definitely be here again next time we're up in Denver.

My wife and I were in Denver for a few days. We were walking the 16th Street Mall and noticed this place. It was around lunch time and seemed crowded but we got right in.

The pizza was very good and the beer was super cold. What more could you ask for in a pizza place. There were large screen TV's everywhere and it was kind of loud but very nice.

We would definitely go here again if we are in the area.

I've eaten at Southglenn twice, and the downtown location twice.  The beer selection is great, the pizza is very good, the salads are average.  Haven't tried anything else.  I'll continue to eat there, but I gave a two-star (should be 2.5) rating because our service downtown today was ridiculously awful.

The waitress was really nice, she would be a good friend - but forgetful.  I'm not exaggerating when I report that we received our beers 25 - 30 minutes after ordering them.  We had water right away, but our beers arrived after our pizza!  Never seen anything like it.

She brought our salads, but no utensils.  After 10 long minutes we walked to the next room to ask her for them.  Other than those two major snafus, she was pretty good.  I try to be understanding because if I were doing that job I'm sure I would forget things.  What is inexcusable though, is if you fail to bring someone's beer for 30 minutes, or if they can't eat their salad for ten minutes, perhaps you offer them a small dessert?

We tipped her 12% instead of 20%.  I felt it was important to write this review because she didn't learn her lesson.  5 minutes after she forgot our utensils, she served salads to a couple next to us, and they had to walk up to the front of the restaurant to ask for forks and napkins... bad times.

Several days after posting the previous review, David Hayes (the GM) reached out to me in regards to the experience I had at Mellow Mushroom.  This was an incredibly nice gesture, and I was really impressed with the level of professionalism that he put forth.  Not only was David truly apologetic, but he sent me a gift card to Mellow Mushroom as an incentive to give the place another chance...so happy he did!

The few times we ate food from Mellow Mushroom we did takeout, and every time the pizza has been great.  My favorite is the Redskin Potato Pie, followed closley with the Funky Q Chicken (I think that's what it's called).  The third pizza which we have tried was a veggie pizza, which was also very good (very fresh) but nothing compared to the other two.  As far as service, well, seeing as we did not do a sit-down dinner there I can't comment. I can say that we will be back though, but as we live down the street we may just stick to out takeout.

It's been far too long since I have enjoyed a Mellow Mushroom pizza but that finally changed this past Friday night when I cashed in my Groupon and had my first Colorado Mellow Mushroom experience.

I had the 10" Mellowterranean pizza and Mr. P. went with his old favorite House Special pie.  And I remembered what I love the most about Mellow Mushroom:  the hand tossed, light and airy, crispy, chewy, perfectly seasoned crust sprinkled with a hint of Parmesan cheese.  Excuse me while I wipe the drool off my chin.

The restaurant itself is quite large and comprised of two indoor levels and the patio.  There are plenty of booths and tables and TVs everywhere.  The finishes are sleek and modern, including the space-agey glowing bar and the two gigantic shiny subway tile columns topped by rounded lit tray ceilings that are reminiscent of mushrooms.  The space has the same kitschy psychedelic vibe that permeates every Mellow Mushroom location I've visited.

I'm not a big beer drinker but I noticed a large selection of local craft beers on the drink menu.  I enjoyed the $4 house wine.  A word of caution on the liquor drinks:  if you order a double, you will be charged not for a double but for two single drinks.  We were not told this until the bill came.  Somehow, though, we ended up with a free drink delivered to our table, which obviously didn't make up for the disappointment and confusion, but hey, free drink.

As Mel O. Mushroom says:  Keep on shroomin'.

My favorite part about Mellow Mushroom is when they close THREE HOURS before they are supposed to on a SATURDAY!!!   There was even a member of the waitstaff outside.  I asked them what was going on and they just blew me off with a bad attitude.

    Never. Going. There. Again.

My favorite pizza in town. If we are going for dinner it is the buffalo chicken pizza with extra blue cheese dressing. The crust is awesome.

If for lunch, I share a greek salad and usually have a slice of pizza. Lunch time is great as they do pizza by the slice. And trust me you only need one slice. Two is too much.

Note it does get pretty crazy during the week for lunch with plenty of business people so get there early.

My son and I visited this place for the first time last week. (On prom night - big mistake) ... so the wait was pretty miserable and as someone else mentioned, they don't really have great accommodations for people who are waiting for tables. You either have to stand awkwardly by the host station or hang out in the walkway upstairs.

I was worried that this experience (long and unorganized wait) would ruin the experience for us, but honestly the service saved it.  Both the hostess and our server were patient and attentive. Our server both promptly and bravely warned us about the wait time for anything made with their dough (considering how long we had waited already I had to give him props for this - zero excuses, just kind honesty)

The pretzels and the meatballs were AMAZING. I'd go back just for those. True story.

My son ordered a pepperoni pizza and I ordered a veggie calzone (I forgot the exact name)... I didn't try my son's pizza... and he said it was good... but he's also only seven and a half and all pizza tastes like ambrosia to him unless it's truly terrible. So I can't really speak to that. The calzone... I'm super sad to say was just a bit... blah. It didn't have nearly enough cheese and it seemed like the insides hadn't been cooked enough? I couldn't tell exactly WHAT was off but something just didn't flow. But I'm also super picky about calzones so.... take this for what you will. But the brownie & ice cream sundae made up for it.

We'll definitely be back to try out more items on their menu!

Four stars, purely for their Thai pizza!

Looks like an adult Chuck-E-Cheese when you walk in, super casual. But all I have to say is that the Thai is a perfect blend of succulence, curry-ish, and sweet on top of doughy bread. The small was around $13 and fed my friend and I each with three slices.

The fire alarm in the entire building went off while we were eating and absolutely no apology or explanation. Kind of annoyed, but we let them slide for their Thai.

Came here for the first time because I bought a Groupon and had been really wanting to try it. They also hooked me up with two free drinks via twitter, so I walked in feeling pretty good.

Nice beer list, I tried a couple new beers. They have a beer club (that I forgot to sign up for). Split hummus and a pizza with my friend. The pizza was SO GOOD. I really can't wait to go again and try a new kind of pizza. They have a kid's menu too, so my son got his own little pizza.

Our server was super nice and took good care of us. The place is a little funky, not quite as "mellow" as I was expecting (I think it's the lighting but I LOVE the walls), but cool. The bathrooms are really cool too, you should check them out while your'e there.

I'm not a big fan of LoDo, but I'll come back for Mellow Mushroom.

Stopped in the Mellow Mushroom for the first time ever to play trivia.  I think it was a Thursday night.  Ok, I checked.  It was definitely a Thursday night - starts at 8pm.

Anyway, very nice establishment.  Staff was very friendly and attentive.  I guess I was expecting, based on the innuendo of the 'mellow mushroom', that the staff and clientele would be of the stinky hippie persuasion.  No so.  Very clean facility.  Great beers on tap, and while I have yet to try it, the pizza looked great.

I will be back for sure to sample the food stuffs, and will update this review...

Cute location, down below 16th st, large bar area.

Magical mystery bus tour - mmmm - portabello and jalapeno! Woot!

The 10 incher is a little big for 1 person, so bring someone to share with

We have also been able to rent this place for a private party for a pretty reasonable price. So keep that in mind if you need to hold a party!

I came here for my birthday dinner a few weeks ago and I was blown away by the service. We reserved a big table in the back and filled it up with over 20 people. We only had one waitress and she killed it all night. Everyone had their drinks and water glasses refilled promptly and all the pizzas came out pretty quickly as well. I ordered the Kosmic Karma with sun dried tomatoes, spinach, feta, roma tomatoes and pesto and it was delicious.

My one issue is that the beers (and all booze in general) is super expensive. $3.50 for a Coors Light and $4.75 for a microbrew is pretty ridiculous in my book.

What you need to know about Mellow Mushroom: the service sucks. Hard.  You really should ask for your check the second you order and pay when your food comes if you have any hopes at all to be out w/in an hour. If you do not heed this advice you will hate this place.
I've always enjoyed the pizza, I mean it's not like the best pizza ever and you would for sure know this is not your typical NY pizza joint, but for a not too expensive downtown spot that won't make you run to the restroom in pain then they got you covered.
