My husband and I stumbled upon this place on a recent trip to Honeymoon Island. We were hungry and had our 60 pound Golden Retriever with us. We spotted this place because of the outside tables. We went inside to ask a server if we could eat with our dog outside because no one else was there and it was way too hot to leave her in the car. He said it was fine and brought her a cup with some water when he brought our menus. That immediately won us over. He brought us some extra water in case she ran out. We each got fish and chips. They were very good. We would return because of the food alone, but the service is what really stands out. Sometimes when you eat outside and no one else is there the server tends to forget about you, but this was not the case at all. He was very attentive and quick. He chatted with us about the area quite a bit, as well as the Spring Hill area (where we're living and where he used to live). He was nice to our dog and said hi and pet her each time he came out. We will definitely return.

Awesome fish and chips, probably the best it in the area.  Surprisingly good beer selection, and fun atmosphere.  Did get a little loud later in the evening (music, not live) but overall a great experience.

Yummy, yummy food! Have been here multiple times and never a bad experience. Huge portions, enough to share or have again as lunch the next day. Service is always friendly and go out of their way to make you happy. We always bring out of town guests here and have never heard a complaint, only compliments.

Our favorite local pub and eatery in Dunedin. We are here on a weekly basis. Huge portions of the best food in town with a great, laid back, sports atmosphere. Only place in town with a happy hour until 9pm

Tucked away in a shopping strip, Cricketer 's is truly a hidden gem! Tiered dining room and generous bar setting ensure good views of the multiple flat screen TVs for sports fans, including cricket matches BTW. Happy hour lasts until 9pm. The best part? Great food! Yes, really well prepared, generous portions. 24 beers on tap and a full bar. Worth stopping in! Friendly, helpful servers, too.

A friend of mine who lives out in Dunedin wanted to take us out here, as it is one of her favorite restaurants. Well, I know why now. This place was fantastic - great atmosphere, staff was fantastic, and the food... Oh, the food.

Had my first shepherd's pie of my life here. Don't really know what all was in it, but after eating it (er, half of it. Took the other half home), don't really care, because I'll definitely get that again. Portions are HUGE. my fiancee got the fish and chips; just might do that next time. Prices are a bit high (entrees can run you $11-16 before drinks/etc) but you could probably split one with someone. Unless you're really hungry. Then the potion size would be perfect!

Definitely coming back here, that is for sure!

Great selection of (real) beer at just the right temperature...friendly service and fabulous steak and kidney pie! The Cornish Pastie on the 2nd visit was disappointing in shape, taste and content, however, the beer was every bit as good.TH

good authentic Brit pub food and lots of it.  We had fish and chips which was a huge order of pollack and chips. I had a Cornish pasty which was enough for two.  some Brit beers on tap and by the bottle. More of a sports bar than a pub and the local barflys seem to hang here in the afternoon, but not a bad place to grab a bite and a brew.

Bangers & Mash with Guinness Gravy, Shepherd's Pie, Fish & Chips, and Boddingtons Pub Ale on draft. Huge portions. This is just one of our neighborhood pubs. The service has always been great and the atmosphere is laid back pub. What more do you want on the way or coming back from Honeymoon Island? Every night is a good night to visit...but give yourself at least a day in between to recover! :)

My girlfriend and I went here for lunch on a Saturday and overall we were very pleased.  The service was a little slow and it was a little pricy (we spent about $50 on lunch with the tip) but other than that, it was outstanding.

The blackened fish is amazing and the fish and chips are pretty tasty too.  We had a sampler platter and really had no complaints.

I'd reccommend this place to anyone who's craving fish and chips or a good pub experience....just don't faint when the check comes.
