We ordered dinner via GrubHub. Over all, the food was pretty good, though the lentil soup needed seasoning added. It was seriously bland.
I got Christopher the shawarma dinner. He said it was pretty good. Mom and I shared a family style dinner combo. It was fine, but it is a good thing I am an adventurous spirit because there is no description of what is in the dinner. Mom asked me what we were having. I said "I have no idea". Well, it was a whole lot of rice and an assortment of meats. I enjoyed it, but Mom found the chicken a tad tough.
I want to try Milo's again sometime soon. I want to check out some of the vegetarian options.
I have ordered take-out several times and have had a meal in their restaurant once or twice. The employees at Milo's are always very nice and the food is a good deal  for the money. This is one of my favorite kabob places in the city and a close second to my number #1 favorite -  Shawarma Inn on Lincoln Ave.
The restaurant itself could stand to be redecorated (its really dark inside) and I think that may be the reason it never seems to attract a lot of walk-in traffic. I wish more people would give this place a try, because it is really a hidden gem in the Devon Avenue area.
I am giving Milo's 4 stars for having very reasonable prices, good food, and free delivery. Good food at a great value!
Yelp, you done me wrong. Â We had a spectacularly mediocre lunch. Â The lentil soup was underseasoned. Â The beef shawerma had dry and flavorless meat with some iceberg lettuce and tomato, inside thin, chewy bread. Â Boring, lame. Â Chicken shawerma was less dry but equally without flavor. Â Hot sauce helped a little. Â Overall, hugely disappointing and far below the vibrant flavors, freshness, and quality ingredients at SP Kabob, among others. Â Prices are low, at least, and people were friendly.
Review Source:I loved it! The food was incredibly fresh, I had chicken shawarma lunch combo with hummus and the salad. It was fantastic and my server was so nice and very attentive. The chef also came out to introduce himself and asked how I liked the food : ) I thought they were closed at first because it was kind of dark but so worth pulling the door to see. I would highly recommend them!
Review Source:OMG. Â SO MUCH LOVE.
Ordered from Milo's for the first time last night. Â The delivery is free, and even though it's aways, they delivered to us in Albany Park with 15 minutes to spare before the estimated delivery time.
This. Â Hummus so good I could cry. Â Gigantic portions for a really good price. Â Everything was well-seasoned. Â Big tender chunks of chicken kabob, hot and tasty rice, great lentil soup, I could go on. Â Boyfriend got a huge shwarma sammich that he absolutely inhaled. Â
We also tried the cheese bourek, FOR SCIENCE. Â I would eat them every day forever if I didn't concern myself with calories or my cardiovascular health. Â Good thing everything else was pretty healthy...
So. Â We had two apps, a full entree, and a sandwich which came to $25 with tax and tip. Â And I had more than enough leftover for lunch today. Â
Only concern: Â The salad with my entree came dressed, and there was too much food so I stuck it in the fridge. Â It got soggy overnight (ate it anyway, shhhh.) Â So FYI, if you want dressing on the side, order it that way. Â The more you know.
I absolutely love Milo's!  Hands down it is the best Iraqi food in all of Chicago!  It is a family owned restaurant that takes pride in it's delicious food and has wonderful customer service.  Everything is made fresh to order so there can be a bit of a wait sometimes, but its totally worth it.  The portions are huge and the prices are more than reasonable.  The combination platter is an excellent way to sample a large portion of the menu, and at $6.99 its one of the best lunch specials around.  Milo (or another one of the family staff members) greets all customers that walk in and often gives first time visitors  a free plate of hummus.  He explained to me that the dolma's (stuffed grape leaves) were handmade daily by his mother.  They are out of this world!  I seriously crave them several times a week.  No other grape leaves compare.  Don't let the empty restaurant fool you guys!  This place is popular with the locals and does most of its business via delivery and carry out (they also cater private events).  They are open super late and offer free delivery, which is a major plus.  Who else is willing to deliver a falafel sandwich at  1am??  If you are really looking for a treat order the masgouf.  Masgouf is the national dish of Iraq, and Milo's takes special pride is serving this up.  I'm not a big fan of seafood, but this catfish was phenomenal.  My boyfriend, a regular foodie, ordered this our first time at Milo's and he said its the best fish he has eaten in his entire life.  Milo's is my favorite place to eat in all of Chicago (seriously the dolma's are that good!), and i have turned several of my friends into regular customers.  As long as this place stays open, I will continue to come back again and again!
Review Source:This place is legit. I probably eat more middle eastern food than any other non-middle eastern person, and this spot comes through every time. Don't waste your time with that pita inn garbage, I have no idea why people consider that quality middle eastern food. Sorry pita inn, but you guys need to start taking notes from Milo's.
Review Source:Good service and prompt. Ordered online and no problem at all. I ordered the chicken shawarma and it was delicious. I also enjoyed the rice. It also comes with a salad and soup for a good price. From what I read, this place also opens late. A good place to try and a good place to order from again. Parking maybe difficult since it's on Western.
Review Source:I've never visited Milo's in person, but their late-night hours are convenient and free delivery is a nice perk, so I've ordered dinner from them twice. I was pleased both times, and would love to try the lunch special, as it seems like a great deal. The only issue I had with the food is more a matter of personal taste than a complaint; they use a very thin, leathery wrap for the sandwiches and dips (I think it's lavash) and it's so chewy that I keep having to check and see if I bit off some of the outer paper. Not only is it dry and tough, but with scoopable appetizers like hummus and baba ganouj, it runs out very quickly, probably because I'm folding it. I ordered a gyros last time, and it was served on softer, thicker bread, like a normal pita, so maybe in the future, I will ask about substituting. Bread notwithstanding, this seems like a nice place, with good food and friendly service, so I'm quite happy I found them.
Review Source:Milo's Pita Place is my favorite place for Middle Eastern food in all of Chicago, and trust me there are a ton. Milo's has Amazing food, top notch customer service, and well priced. I also order form here when I have a large group of people coming over, a few family sized trays and my guests are happy, and full. Whether you want a quick Shawarma sandwich or hosting a party, Milo's Pita Place is the best place to get Middle Eastern food.
Review Source:The food was good, and for an excellent price. I ordered a combination platter. All of the meats were delicious (grilled chicken, steak, beef shwarma type of pieces and ground lamb, i believe.
Even though the place was quiet, and sorta creepy and dark towards the rear of the dining area, the food is what's most important to me. I would have given it 5 stars if the atmosphere was a little more welcoming with either a TV on or some music, also if rice was less dry (some of it was crunchy), although I did come in at midnight on a Friday.
We ordered online through Grubhub. It took nearly 2 hours for our food to get to us. By the time it did, my wife's falafel and rice were cold. The falafel were soggy and flavorless. My hummus and chicken were still warmish, and very tasty. The salad and soup included in our meals were nothing to write home about - mostly iceberg lettuce and a few chunks of uninspiring tomato, and your standard issue lentil soup. I also ordered a piece of baklava, which was tiny for the price and pretty unremarkable. Based on my entree, I'd probably eat Milo's again, but would definitely do carry out or dine-in. My wife has declared that she has never been so disappointed in a meal, though, and refuses to order from there ever again.
Review Source:Ok I was a bit concerned when we got here, and only went as we were in the area & they had great reviews. Â When we walked in at 6:30 on a Thursday night there were NO customers & they had just gotten their delivery, I guess, as there were boxes stacked up in the middle of the restaurant. Â It's generally not a good sign when you walk into an empty restaraunt in what should be the dinner rush, but I'm glad I didn't high tail it out of there. Â The staff was great - since it was our first time there they brought us out a free bowl of hummus (some of the best I've had), and very attentive (although we were the only ones there). Â But the food is where this place shines, and it is crazy cheap. Â Best value I've found in the city, hands down. Â I hope people find out how great this place is & start going so they can keep their doors open...
Review Source:So there I was, walking down the street with the bf, looking for a place to have some dinner while our laundry was spinning away at the laundromat.
I wanted something halfway healthy, and looking at the menu, this seemed to fit the bill. The ambiance was not particularly flashy, but it was very clean and it had a good vibe. (And I've often found that indicates really good food.)
I am so very glad we wandered in!
The menu had a very nice spectrum of food. All your typical Mediterranean food, and the prices seemed middle of the road. But they had some unusual stuff like quail and grilled fish. They had fattoush AND jerusalem salad too. It took a while for our food, but that's because they made for us as we waited. Hot and fresh!
The service was friendly, as they took pains to explain to us what the composition of the food in the combo platter was. It's very obviously a family business, as there was a child of one of the owners sitting at the front counter and quietly amusing himself with a handheld video game. I got the vibe that this place is popular with the locals.
I ordered the chicken with hummus. The chicken was wonderfully spiced, in what looked and tasted like curry sauce, which was arranged over an extremely generous portion of hummus.
Being a bit of a fire-eater, my eye was caught by the hot sauce they gave us. It was like nothing I'd tried. It seemed to be made of hot cherry peppers and vinegar. A bit of tangy heat that was a perfect mix with the hummus and chicken.
At first I thought the price was a bit high, till I saw what came with the food. Each entree came with a pint of lentil soup, a salad, tahini and pita. It was a huge amount of food for the price.( We couldn't eat all the food at one sitting, so we'll be having soup and salad for lunch today!)
Definitely go check it out!
So I decided to give Milo's another try....or 4 haha and I wanted to change my rating, since my opinion about this place did change. Â Milo's really has changed for the better ever since the first two times I have been there. The proportions have improved and the price is a lot cheaper than a lot of the other places. This is my favorite late night place. I have gotten the beef/chicken shawarma, sauteed beef/chicken, greek salad, falafels, hummus, bourak, and labneh. I prefer the beef in both shawarma and sauteed entrees. All of the entrees come in a large round containers, side salad in a smaller round container, and a larger container of lentil soup (definitely the bang for your buck). I like the feta in the greek salad, so that is one of the things I'd always get. The falafels are alright. I like the chicken bourak more than beef. The labneh is good. Not a fan of the gyros or lahm bi ajin at all. I also like the hummus and shawarma better than the hummus by it self.
Previous rating-Why such the high ratings?  Is the owner bribing you with the mediocre food for the five stars? Not to be too harsh but the food was bland. Perphaps it could be that it was at 2am when i got my food for pick up that it wasnt the freshest or tastiest. It was a disapointment when i got home with my family combination platter to open it up to a depressing 6 pieces of luke warm meat served over a bed of not so fresh rice. The positive was the owner was super friendly and he seemed genuinely concerned that we left with our food happy. The food is nothing special but may be good for a cheap late night meal since its open late. I'd rather go a couple blocks down to the under rated habibi  that gives you fresher, tastier, and a larger amount of food then to go to the overly rated milo's for their bland food.
I started reading the reviews as I parked in front of Milo's and wasn't sure which way it will go and happily it way exceeded my expectations.  Milo was extremely pleasant and explained the different dishes and although I'm quite familiar with Middle Eastern food, I wasn't sure on the subtle differences of Iraqi food.  I ordered four different plates for the family, Hummus, Beef Shawerma, Fish (Masgouf) and Shish Kabab.  The Hummus was as good as it gets, beef shawerma was a bit on the dry side but still good.  Shish Kabab was well prepared and seasoned nicely and then  the Fish, words just can't describe it. This dish is hands down the best I've ever had in a Middle Eastern place and candidly in any restaurant ever.  You have to try the Masgouf to really appreciate the talents of the chef and this restaurant.  i'm so happy they are close to my home and the prices just makes it that much more compelling to visit them on weekly basis.
Review Source:Milo's is pretty darn good. I would actually be more at 3.5 stars, but it just didn't have enough to be 4.
I ordered for pickup on a cold afternoon. I was in a mood for a variety of stuff and to last me a bit. So, I did an order of beef and chicken shawarma. Both of them were really good, my only disappointment was that there wasn't as muchc meat as I would've wanted in either. There was a lot of rice, which wasn't a problem, I just wished for a bit more meat.
I also got the lamb bi aijn. This was great. It was ground lamb on flat bread and almost like a pizza without sauce. It didn't last long around me and considering that it's only $2.99, you can't go wrong at all. The falafel was pretty good too. They did taste a little too green for me, but I didn't exactly have a problem polishing them off either
Milo's was pretty affordable. The food was very good and the portions were generally just right. The people were real nice there, which does make one want to come back
Hubbie and I just had Milo's for the first time. We found them on Grubhub and wow ... the food was excellent. I had the falafel plate, which included lentil soup, rice and salad. My husband had the gyro plate, which included the same side dishes as mine. And, we had the hummus appetizer. These were tasty dishes seasoned to perfection and extremely satisfying. Delivery was prompt and what more can I say, but try them. You'll love it!
Review Source:Great tasting Gyros sandwiches, tasty hummus (the small is a 6inch plate!) falafel is great, chicken schwarma is okay, the kefta kabob is great. The best part of this place? The owner, Milo, is a really nice guy. The first time I ordered, they ran out of falafel. Milo called me and offered to replace it with another sandwich. I chose a chicken scwharma, which was slightly more expensive and he threw in a free appetizer to make up for it. My food arrives quickly, and Milo even delivers it himself! He threw in a free cheesecake one time, just to say thank you for ordering. He even thanked me for the positive feedback on Grub Hub. Who does that? This guy actually cares about his customers' satisfaction. He wants his new restaurant to do well. And he is on the right track. If you want to support great tasting food and awesome customer service, give this place a try!
Review Source:I kept hearing about this restaurant through friends and of course I said to myself. I have to try this place out from all the feedback its getting! Mind you, I'm a late eater and you can never really find a place open at 12. Fortunately, Milo's Pita Place was open! Great - I get to eat and try this place out.
It's a quaint restaurant with bright lighting and great ambiance. I was told that it was going to be remodeled so don't be scared of the appearance! The owner Milo is super friendly as well as the staff! They're confident in their food and I love that about chefs!
It was my boyfriend and I and we were craving some chicken! We told one of the chefs whose name I believe was Mikey, (Very genuine fellow) and he told us he would take care of us for the night. Boy oh boy was he a man of his word! DELICIOUS is all I can tell you.
He first brought out the complimentary Baba Ganoogh (roasted eggplants) which was devine! After was the lentil soup (Edes) which was peppered perfectly. (Some restaurants tend to over do it) Also, a regular cut green salad with couple tomatoes wasn't the best salad but it worked. Finally, he brought out a tray of fresh steamy golden rice with perfectly tenderly cooked chicken cutlets on top and grilled tomatoes which we loved! I died for their hot sauce! Finally a restaurant that respects the word hot when it comes to sauce! We didn't expect such a large dinner at such a time but before we knew we had devoured most of the tray due to its delishness! They weren't cheap on the portions at all which I love. Most places count their grains as its on the tray!
I highly recommend to come to this place. I've come here now multiple times each time trying something new. I haven't been disapointed yet! Â Keep up the good work boys! You're on the road to success!!
So my girlfriend and I were wondering what was open in Rogers Park on Friday at midnight and we happened to stumble upon this little place on yelp. Now, I'm not usually one to leave reviews but I just had to for these guys. We walked in and the servers were completely accomodating. Right off the bat with hummus and bread. We ordered the Combination Platter for 2 just to get a little taste of everything and the food was so fresh and awesome! Nicest people in the world. Gave us things on the house, so we were sure to leave a fat tip for everything being so affordable =) So glad we went out of our comfort zone and decided to try this place. Mike is awesome! Milo's is definately worth giving it a try! ...and coming back for more!
Review Source:Usually when you get one of those coupon mailers its an attempt to save a dying restaurant with crappy food IMO. Â Well we received a coupon yesterday to Milo's and had a craving for some hummus at the same time. Â Enter Milo's and their delish Hummus. Â They recently opened, and are still getting the decor straight. Â The cook/owner-I dunno actually stopped by and said "we are still renovation, its not much to look at". Â My reply was "I could care less, your food is awesome". Â
Reasonable prices, and good food is what to expect. Â The felafel actually has flavor and they made it to order. Â For $9 you get salad, soup, entree. Â Best Humus I have had in a while. Â Quite pleased they deliver for free over $10 as all the way to Andersonville.
I will go again for sure.
I've been waiting on a place like this to open for quite sometime. I no longer have to go drive to the burbs to get Pita Inn and I can finally go somewhere to eat good food that's in walking distance!
The Shish Sandwich was like 5 something ? and it came with a drink! That's a deal to me!!!!!!!
Right around the corner from me was this absolutely lovely restaurant that I didn't know existed, but when my roommate offered to buy me dinner, I couldn't pass it up. Their hum as was absolutely fabulous, and their shawarma sandwich was absolutely fantastic! The service was wonderful as well, so friendly and nice, they even threw in an order of hummas with pita for free, it was delicious, too! I will definitely be going back!
Review Source:My boyfriend and I just got home after eating at Milo's. It was the  restaurant's first day and Milo and his dad cooked us both a delicious late night dinner. We started the meal off with pita and hummus and some salad and waited for my shawarma and my boyfriend's kifta kabob. Both were very savory and we'll definitely go there again! The place itself doesn't look very fancy, but don't let that fool you. Milo's Pita Place is a yummy place to go for a midnight meal!
