LOVE the Mission! The nachos and the bartender's margarita are the best!! Also, make sure you hit happy hour.

Good happy hour selection. I'm not a fan of shredded chicken, but it was still really good. I like the atmoshpere of this place most. Plenty of seating upstairs for larger groups.

I am really falling in love with this place. I have yet to have a bad dish, drinks are great and reasonably priced and the ambiance is great. I have to admit, I was not a huge margarita fan until I started coming here more. Now I am totally hooked. Not sure if that is a good or bad thing...

Either way, solid place.

We love Mexican and decided Mission was a must to try and we're glad we did. Though it's a little bit dark and cave like inside it was pretty quiet. Good happy hour food selection as well as prices. They had tv's playing sports which we're always looking for a good place to watch whatever game is on but that isn't necessarily a dive bar. The vegetarian options were delicious and my cod tacos were rich and delicious. Try the mushroom quesadilla, very tasty!

Having lived in THE Mission, it's insulting for this bar / restaurant in West SEA to carry the same name. I sure hope the intention of the naming was not related to what happens behind open doors around 17th & Guerrero.

The food here is just bland, banal, blah, boring, dull. And overpriced for what you get. The latest visit I had Adobo Pork which was such a small serving of pork, the chef must be on A Mission to control portion size for growingly obese Seattle. I mean tiny, little meal for $12. Check my 372 reviews here - this is the first time I've complained about a meal sizel. Crazy. Oh yeah, no comp chips & salsa either (for this reason alone, the name Mission needs to be deleted & replaced with something more Northwest like "Go Hawks Bro ... Where Did I Park My Forester").

The bar is OK. Nothing stands out though. Service is excellent.

Ambiance stinks. No windows. Not that no windows is bad (ya Apple!), but its feels like you are eating in a 40-foot ISO shipping container. The energy of the place just drives me to leave.

If you want mediocre Mexican bar food in West SEA, a couple blocks south is The Matador - basically the same culinary experience but in a nicer setting. If you want real good Mexican food, hop down to one of the nicest urban drives in Seattle, West Marginal Way Southwest to 509 / 518 to SeaTac. Board Alaska flight 340 for OAK. 90 minutes later hop on BART to 16 & Mission station and open Yelp on your Windows Phone (joking, who has a Windows Phone?) and search for Mexican Food. You will be a changed person (for the better). But if you call my old neighborhood "The Mish" don't friend me on Yelp.

Electric Wizard.

This place is amaze-balls. Paul is the best bartender in the history of bartenders. Makes me feel like I'm in a Cheers episode but with Danzig playing in the background and The Abyss playing on the television. I love this place. Come for the Nachos stay for the movies. I'm so glad that last review was just catching them on an off day.

The food was good, but not good enough to outdo the service we received. Although we were polite and ordered plenty of food and drinks during happy hour, the server treated us like we were pains in her side. Was it the worst experience? No. Was it good enough to return? No. My rating for this restaurant is mediocre, just because there are better ones out there and thankfully, I have choices.

Yet another place where I wish I could rate the food differently from the bar.

The outside doesn't look like much. They seem to have tried to make it look like a dive from rural Mexico. Not really needed. There are fancy places in Mexico too.

Amazing decor in the bar. The drinks were ok. They make homemade margarita mix, but how about making my high end margarita by hand instead of using any mix.

I left starving. My main course was tiny. They're serving rather cheap food. No need for the main course portion to be that small.

The natchos were ok. They're served on a small iron platter so they're served piled high, but that just means that most of them are plain.

The place has potential but the food is just not that good. The menu is way too damn long and to boot they had 6 specials. Really? I mean come on.

People have complained about the service, but the server was great. It's just whoever designed the menu really doesn't know what they're doing.

I was actually looking forward to going to Mission, but was really disappointed. I had been looking at their menu several days before, and was so excited to go there...

The food was actually good (but I've had better) and the atmosphere is interesting (albeit a small space). However, the customer service was what really detracted from my experience at Mission. I would not recommend going (when there are more friendly Mexican places in West Seattle, like Cactus, with a much nicer staff). I called a couple days prior to book a reservation, but Mission doesn't take reservations for 4 people or less. The wait for a seat/table took a long time, but I was willing to wait.

While standing in the bar, my guy friend had to wait a long time before the bartender acknowledged him. The beer he ordered was delicious though. Once we did get a table, the waitress had an attitude. Maybe she was having a bad night...who knows. It was a busy, but just because it's busy, it doesn't mean that good customer service should be forgotten. I believe the waitress' name was Christie (can't remember at this moment). When we finally asked for our bill at the end, and we asked if it would be okay to split amongst us, she refused. I thought she could have refused in a different way that was less harsh. She avoided my question and just said in a condescending tone, "you can write how much you want to put on each card," and walked away. I felt like I was being reprimanded and I was inconveniencing her instead. If she had just told me: So sorry, we can't split the bill - if you write down the amounts, I'll get this check processed for you as quickly as possible, I would have been okay with that. I didn't really need an attitude.

I will honestly not go back again - It's too bad since I was so excited to go...

I will never go back here. While the decor was cool and the food had good flavor, the quantity and service was kind of pathetic. I went there for happy hour. I was excited to see the good prices and was looking forward to the food. The one item I will discuss here is the beef skewers. I don't know what I was expecting but certainly not 3 huge sticks with 1 small piece of chewy meat on the end! I was with another person so at happy hour, you often share food. I saw the people's order of nachos next to us and is consisted of about 10 chips and a 1/2 a cup of beans. Yum. I am sure the 5 of them were full off of that feast. The portions were not big enough for one person, let alone 2!

I left hungry and annoyed. Not a good combo for repeat business from me.

This place just gets it. Great food, GREAT Service, cool atmosphere, clean bathrooms, and the food isn't over priced and pretentious. We live in West Seattle and frequent a number of restaurants in the neighborhood. Mission is solid, and never disappoints. Their staff is as professional and on top of it as any restaurant I've ever been to.

My feedback for change is that they need to sweep up the front of the restaurant more regularly. There are cig butts there constantly and often times litter on the ground. While I know they can't control how it got there, they can make the front of their restaurant clean and more welcoming. It looks shabby when there are cig butts and garbage outside. It will take a staff person 5 minutes a day to sweep that up.

Go to Mission. It is an absolute winner. The Ahi Tostada is killer.

My last review for Mission was almost four years back now. I have read so many uncharacteristic reviews for this place that have been written since, so I figured to set some stuff straight.

In those four years I have brought many friends that are from Venezuela, Nicaragua, Mexico and Peru to get food and drinks here. That does not mean they've "been to/lived there for six months/know a guy from there/seen these places on a globe", but seriously had to learn another language when they moved to the Seattle area because they are FROM there. They honestly loved this place. They told me how there are things on the menu that are the same from back home, and how they couldn't find it anywhere in Seattle that was this good. Yeah, I know there are also things on there that aren't authentically Latin, but they are delicious- and I'll take delicious TexMex any day of the week. Do you also notice how most bad reviews about it being "Not Authenitc Latin Food" for this place are written by folks with the least Latin names? Tell me more about how this isn't good Carne Asada, Keith.

The service is awesome, always has been, and most likely always will be. There's also little turnover here. There's really nothing else to say about it. I also just noticed that if people have to explain how they recieved poor service probably did something to deserve that type of service and are trying to argue their way out of it. If a server is a jerk for absolutely no reason, I'd just write "server was a jerk, no idea why, but it was pretty funny how angry they were for no reason.". So to reiterate- the service here is awesome.

The bottom line is this- this place is fantastic. I've stopped eating food at Cactus and the Matador because of it. For the same(or less) money, go to Mission and eat good, real, authentic food (or TexMex) they made there instead.

My suggestion? Sweet Papas - Pescado Tacos - Flan and a scoop of Coconut Ice Cream. Can't be beat.

I was so disappointed when I got the "Carne Asada plate" they said or I'll just quote....
'Marinated 10oz NY Steak grilled to temp, topped with chimichurri sauce and served with red rice, sautéed plantains, and warm flour tortillas' - the red rice....never again...and they didn't have plantains...again not happy...and honestly the ONLY reason they got 3 stars is because the steak was good, and again it was a steak and not the Carne Asada steak. I don't think I'll ever go back.

The atmosphere and food are awesome. We love to go during happy hour and get a bunch of apps to share because everything is delicious! It's a great place to take friends, parents, etc.

I give this 3 stars because my husband loved his carne asada. I had chicken tacos, and wasn't that impressed.

Let me back this up. We started with the queso fundido. Definitely not traditional mexican queso fundido - it was more like artichoke dip. We were happy we had added the Chorizo to it to give it a little more variation.

I ordered chicken tacos, and was interested to try the homemade corn tortillas. Before biting into the whole taco I tasted solo chicken. For how caramelized and seasoned it looked, it really lacked flavor. So, on to the full on taco experience. The tortillas were so oily I really had a hard time finishing both tacos! It is hard to say if they were this way from the dressed, tossed greens on top of the tacos, or if it was because the tortilla shell was slightly fried before making its way onto the plate... I dunno. I could tell that if the tortillas weren't so oily they'd be tasty.

But, that said, the ambiance, location and other interesting menu items will bring us back.

I so desperately want to love this place:
- Absolute WIN location
- Friendly server Kristina (get her as your server if you can!)
- Second to none decor, setup, and ambience

But sadly, the actual food (minus one dish) completely misses the mark.

We started off with Spicy Pineapple Shrimp, which were supposed to be tiger shrimp, which are normally large, however these guys were pretty small. They were right on the border of cooked, and needed more time. They were passable as a dish, with the sauce being an afterthought. The pineapple was far too firm and not sweet, almost as if it wasn't cooked in the sauce itself.

Next the kiddo had a kid's cheese quesadilla - a huge hit for any two year old.

For our main dishes, we split the Sweet Potato Tacos and the carne asada. The tacos were *amazing* - serious win here. Flavorful, great use of ingredients, huge win.

However, the carne asada was the exact opposite. The meat was not marinated at all-as in zero seasoning. The rice was dry and clearly not fresh, and we ended up with zucchini, not plantains....? However the worst part was the guacamole - due to allergies, I cannot have guacamole on the plate. Kristina was nice enough to note it, but when it arrived there it was smack in the middle of the plate. I nervously ate around it.

Finally we finished with molten chocolate cake. Although it took 10 minutes, the cake was not flavorful, or even a hint of sweet, instead coming out like bread pudding. And the ice cream had ice crystals in it - signs of either leaving out your ice cream adn refreezing it, or a bad freezer.

All in all, Kristina and the decor are not enough to keep my from coming back. Fix the kitchen and I absolutely will :-)

The Mission is a favorite date place close to home. The atmosphere is more quiet than the other mexican food choice in WS (Matador) and super romantic :)
Entire wall that are candlelit, good music and great enchiladas all in West Seattle... no reason to go anywhere else.
They also have an upstairs that would be perfect for birthday parties or other gatherings.

This place is great.... if you like over priced, bland, latin-wannabe food.

The fajita plate was mostly vegetables (which is nice... except when you order the fajita steak).

I will definitely give it another go, but order something completely different.

My friends picked this place for their birthday dinner yesterday, so I decided to look it up on yelp before I left. I was a bit nervous when I saw some of the poorer reviews, but I thought everything turned out pretty great!

The atmosphere is really relaxing. It is pretty dark, with pops of light from these cool iron lamps and a ton of candles. There is a whole second level, so there is really no problem getting a table. Great place to plop down in a comfy booth and grab a seat at the bar!

The food and drinks were really tasty. I had a couple of the house margaritas and thought that they were just how a margarita should taste. I usually like girly drinks, but when it comes to a margarita, I am a purist. I hate when you go to a restaurant and they ask you what flavor margarita you want - here their menu even says that they only serve traditional lime margaritas, so if you are going to be a big baby about it, order something else. I tried a couple of my friends drinks and was less impressed - kind of felt like drinking booze and gnawing on a chunk of sugar cane at the same time. I ordered the mushroom and cheese quesadilla and it was awesome. Stick to the basics and you won't be disappointed!

The thing that I was most worried about was the service, since I had read so many reviews saying that the service was awful (especially since we were a large group and you can get neglected when there is automatic gratuity added to your bill). Turns out our waitress was pretty wonderful. She was very polite, got us our drinks right away and took our food order, and made sure to keep checking back to see if we needed anything. She was also pretty nice when it came to paying for our large group and we handed her a bunch of cards. If you are in a hurry, I don't know if this would be the best place, but we were just relaxing, so it was completely fine that we were there for several hours.

I am going to go back, but probably during happy hour so that I can save some money.

Mission is a place I like going back to again and again. Part of what draws me in is their twice-daily happy hour, every day, from 4-6 and again at 10-12. Best bets at happy hour are margaritas, tacos, and possibly the nachos. Unfortunately, only a couple of their draught beers are on special at happy hour, like Dos Equis and perhaps the other "latin style" beers, which is too bad, because the better, local beers are not.

The nachos used to be my favorite in town. Why "used to be" my favorite? Well, the first few times I had them, they shot to the top of my "nachos I love" list, with their black beans and chopped tomato and crema fresca and the little skillet they're served in, fresh from the oven. So far this year, though, I've had a couple orders that have seemed less consistent than I remember them to be. Maybe they're the same as they always were, and my taste in nachos has just changed. It's possible. They're still good, but I have since had nachos elsewhere that I enjoyed more. But if you find yourself at Mission, you could do much worse than to order a plate of nachos, especially if you're sharing them at the table and they can all be eaten while still hot from the oven.

One of the other dishes I get somewhat regularly--because they're also on the happy hour menu--are the sweet potato tacos. They're really good, especially when drizzled with the green habanero hot sauce (bottles of El Yucateco brand, that is). However, I have to say that they're really good "for sweet potato tacos." See, I'm not huge on sweet potatoes. There are a couple other taco options available at happy hour, but none that I eat--I do wish there were some shrimp or fish tacos on the happy hour menu, but they're only on the full-price menu.

The full price menu is notably costlier, but also more varied. I've enjoyed all the food I've had here. It's not the end-all, be-all of anything, I don't think, but it's relatively solid. The shrimp fajitas are mm-mmm good and so are the chile rellenos. They have a tamale del dia, a burrito del dia, and a stuffed jalapenos del dia, so there's always something new.

The space is great, though it's not necessarily a place you'd want to go on a bright sunny day, since the interior is somewhat cave-like. That's great for rainy days or nighttime, though. It's got a cool, quasi-sexy vibe. I love the rock wall and wood, and the candles catch your eye and soften the mood. The high ceiling opens the place up, and the mezzanine upstairs not only creates additional seating and semi-private event space, but makes the booths downstairs feel cozier because they're built underneath.

I can't speak for the entire staff since I mainly come when Paige is working, a delightfully sassy and sarcastic barmaid who makes great margaritas, interacts with her customers, and keeps her cool even when the place is jumping. I don't know if it's her or Mission itself, but there's a sense of loyalty amongst regulars--I see the same faces time and time again. There's a neighborhood bar feel here as much as there is a "Latin eatery" feel.

There are a couple televisions above the bar, and they'll show high-profile sporting events when the occasion calls for it, but usually, they're showing movies, silently, with subtitles. It doesn't sound like anything special, but I have come to appreciate it. Sometimes I catch old favorites, and sometimes it's something bizarre, depending on the mood and tastes of who's working the bar. Last night, for instance, Paige's selections were "From Dusk Till Dawn," and "Sheena." The movies spark occasional conversations with other patrons--more than once a conversation has been started with the patron next to me (both of us sort of drawn in by the movie) with the question, "What is this; do you know?" or a comment like, "I didn't realize he had a role in this movie." The movie thing is a nice touch, without being overbearing or distracting--because they're silent.

That's good, because I wouldn't want the relatively welcoming and convivial vibe to be disturbed here. Mission will remain in my rotation for the foreseeable future.

This place is definitely worth a visit. It's bigger than it looks, which isn't saying much, since they've packed a lot into a small space. The second floor also looked promising, but we were down near the bar. And the bar is very cool: it's a wall of tequila. The ambience is dark but friendly, and they've gone to great lengths to get the touches right (iron work, mission style furniture, interesting artwork, etc.).

The food was great. We ordered the sweet potato tacos, which is a great mix of salty, spicy and sweet. The nachos were top notch. The pork adobo was solid (I was mostly excited that they had the option on the menu). But I might try the enchiladas on a future trip.

Happy hour looks like the best time to visit. But if you like tequila, take the time to look through the menu. There's plenty to choose from.

We came here based on a friend's recommendation and don't get me wrong, the food was absolutely DE-LISH!

Their service though was AWFUL. In some ways, we felt as if we were being "discriminated" because we were younger, which is *not* a good feeling. At the beginning of the meal, my friend informed our server that we'd have separate bills because we've heard that's just the nice thing to do. She said it's fine, but it was her tone that came off as "OKAY WHATEVER!" The rest of the night, we felt like we had to flag her down or else she'd never come by. At one point, the fianc got up and grabbed the water pitcher to pour his own water because NO ONE would come by to fill it up for any of us.

Maybe it was an off-night. Who knows. As much as I enjoyed the food itself, I'm such a stickler on service, my rating went down because of it.

I would give Mission 1 star, but the atmosphere warrants a second. I have gone here 3 times, I am done, never again.

The service at Mission really sucks, I am a server by trade and have been most of my life, and it is truly some of the worst service I have gotten anywhere. The first time I went I thought maybe it was a fluke that we waited for a beer and a vodka cran for 25 minutes after we ordered it. The second time I went I thought is was a coincedence that the same thing happened again. The 3rd time.... you are out!

Last time my friend and I went to Mission (on a slow weekday evening) Every time we ordered a drink it took at least 10 to 20 minutes to get it to the table. I don't know the it was the fault of our waitress or of the bartender, but it was so bad we had to start ordering our next round as soon as we took a drink of our current one.

Holy cow is this place expensive!! Last time my friend and I had 1 cosmo each (and ordered a shot of vodka to put in them cause they tasted like straight cran juice) 2 vodka crans, 2 shots of patron and 2 appetizers, the bill was $130.00!!! We were truly shocked. I will never go there again.

I am usually a laid back person, and was a waitress in the past, so I consider myself a pretty compassionate judge as far as service is concerned.

Last weekend was my second visit to Mission Restaurant, and will definitely be my last.

The food was OK, however the service was UNBELIEVABLY BAD. My waitresses' name was Lauren and she had a terrible attitude. Everything that she stated was in a condescending tone.

There were 6 of us. We ordered drinks, appetizers, and entrees. Everything took much longer than anticipated, I believe we were there for over 2 hours.

The waitress ignored us for 30 minutes at a time, leaving us parched at times.
My appetizer arrived after I was almost done with my entree, and she of course charged me for it. The entree took over an hour to arrive so it's confusing how stuffed jalapeños would take over an hour, except unless the server forgot to enter them into the system.

After all was said and done, the waitress refused to split checks for us and added gratuity to the bill automatically. We paid the bill and all swore we would never go back.

VERY DISAPPOINTING.

I really enjoyed my recent small group dinner with some fellow yelpers here last week.

The nachos certainly lived up to the good things I'd heard about them, as did the margaritas.

The hold back, mainly, for me, was the lighting. I get it; ambiance, mood setting, all that. Really, I do. But I am "night blind". I really cannot see well in the dark. And certain light levels over others are the *worst*.
When I walked in looking for the group (who I knew was there, the host had *just* stolen my parking spot not 5 minutes earlier) I couldn't see a bloody thing farther than a few feet in front of me. Navigating that in a full bar while intoxicated would be the death of me, and anyone in my falling radius.

Overall, though, it was a good evening getting to know some new (to me) yelpers and seeing some veteran favorites again.

I'd do an event on the "upper deck" level of the place, and I'll try and trek it out to WS again to sample a bit more of the menu.

As often happens on my West Seattle excursions, the scene is as follows: there is a beer festival of some sort or other at Beveridge; I have partaken; hunger and a need for sustenance ensues.

This time, I wanted to check out Mission, which has been on or slightly under my radar for years. We arrived about halfway through the daily happy hour, and despite having sampled two trays of barleywine between the three of us, we hadn't imbibed to a margarita-preventing level...so promptly ordered a couple. Plus two plates of three tacos (shredded chicken), a couple of orders of chips, pico and guacamole, and some sweet pappas (roasted sweet potatoes with a bit of crema, some crumbled cotija and green onion atop) to share.

The dishes were your standard American-Mexican fare, meaning that if you're a haunter of taco trucks whenever possible, these won't be your thing. So they weren't mine, but they were fine (especially for the price!). The shredded chicken was mild, the guacamole a bit dry, and the sweet potatoes a world away from the sort of patatas bravas that stir my Latin-loving heart.

Nevertheless, the platters arrived promptly and with a smile, and the margaritas were impressive: heavy hint of decent tequila, without the cloying, artificial sweetness so prevalent in bars 'round the world. It's the rare spot that makes me want to return to taste tequila, but Mission might be one given their expertise with a lowly happy hour drink.

I can't say anything about the rest of the menu since I only tasted the aforementioned happy hour offerings, and I know that many bars and restaurants excel elsewhere. But for what I refer to as Mexpensive, I might be more inclined to head to Barrio (for inventive/Americanized) or El Mestizo (for vibrant/traditional) in my neighborhood if I'm craving some Latin flavor. Nevertheless, I look forward to a return to Mission: the interior is pretty sexy with the low-lit booths, prayer candles (they work, I swear!), hanging paper lights and the lovely brick-backed bar.

And then there's that little matter of the many pages of tequilas....

I like MIssion pretty well. Been here lots of times, inclduing the night I finished my bar exam to do some shots. It's worthy for a meal or to get drunk in on a special occasion...just sayin.

Tonight I met a couple of friends. We shared the nachos, veggie enchilada (one of my favs), the Little Green salad (try the cumin dressing) and the chocolate cake....everything was good, and they were very accomodating with sharing plates. It's Friday, so they were busy but there was still attentive service. We even got free ice cream. :) Try the mexican chocolate or the vanilla bean to go with the molten cake...

Oh, and I'm a sucker for anywhere that incorporates sweet potato into dishes...the veg enchilada or tacos are perfection. That and Margaritas served in pint glasses = awesome.

You gotta love the atmosphere at this place, the dark lighting on a stormy night, the quality of the food and the Happy Hour, too. Give it a shot if you're nearby!

I am a nacho fan through and through. My quest to find fantastic nachos is a never ending search. I have a strict criteria I maintain as to what I want and don't want on my nachos. Number one on that list is no meat, coming in at a close second is no chili and third is real cheese. None of that nasty Velveeta mess they have at Taco Bell or 7-Eleven. Yes, I am picky but I demand only the best be placed on my tongue. I don't want my tastebuds assaulted with second rate nachos.

My desire for beer and food at happy hour prices had me considering visiting my go to place for cheap beer and stellar nachos: Matador, but I decided to take a leap and try something new. I had been to Mission once before but had never ordered the nachos. I decided it was time to size up what Mission had to offer in terms of one of my favorite connoctions on the planet.

Mission and Matador are one in the same when you get down to it. Both venues are dark, have wooden seating, and well, feel like a church. Am I here for mass or am I here to drink? What sets Mission apart from Matador, I feel, are the Dia De Los Muertos (Day of the Dead for those that aren't in the know) decorations. I am partial to the figurines being Mexican and all and I just find them so darn cute. While the decorations are scarce, you see most of them in the entry way, they are a nice touch. There is an extensive collection of vodka along the wall of the bar which I found myself in awe of. Too bad I'm not much of a straight vodka drinker but more visits may make me change my mind.

At about 5:00pm the place is dead. I walk on up to the bar and am the only patron in that section. I am quickly greeted and order a Manny's and the nachos. Being the computer geek I am I visited the website to find out what kind of nachos they served. Come to find out they serve skillet nachos. How delightful.

Soon after my nachos arrive and I am excited. While not as plentiful as the Matador nachos they are the perfect size for a solo diner such as myself. The tortilla chips are simply garnished with black beans, cheese, and pico de gallo. The mound sits atop a black personal sized skilled. I pull off a chip trapped in a vat of melted cheese, slip it in my mouth, and the crunch that resonates in my head is heavenly. Just the right amount of grease and crunch has got this girl hooked.

I continued to snack on my nachos and drink my beer. The bartender was attentive and regularly checked to see if I was doing alright. With these nachos I am doing mighty fine my dear sir.

The Mission nachos passed my test with flying colors. The rest of the place ain't so bad either.

I love, love, love the atmosphere of this place. Candles climbing a brick wall, strikingly gorgeous blue wall with prayer candles in shadow boxes, second floor overlooking entire restaurant, iron railings, cozy booths. and some heavy tunes blasting through the speakers. Love it!

Great tapas menu. Had the white fish ceviche, calamari, and chicken flautus. All were very good and fresh. Calamari is not fried, which I appreciated. Chicken flatus is a hearty serving of 3 pieces and I could have easily downed 10 more. Very good! House margarita was good and strong, but not exceptionally great compared to other margarita options in the city. But still very good and hits the spot! I want to go back and try other items on their large menu!

I love the venue, absolutely. Dark wood, azul walls, brick, candles and lanterns for lighting. Dia de los Muertos paraphernalia. Love it.
The margs were great - the house mix is perfect. We shared tapas - my favorite way to dine - and enjoyed the white fish ceviche, calamari and chicken flautus. Good balance of fishy, crispy, pico flavor. The calamari is delicious, but I just can't eat a whole baby squid without getting queasy - I can't! The texture? The lifelessness? Not that I'd want it alive, it's just there, legs - body and all in your mouth... can't do it. I tried, I swallowed. Just one.
Other than that, I really liked it and would definitely cross the bridge for another solution to a Mexican craving. The rest of the menu looks very enticing!

I got drunk at Mission for the first time in over a year (see: pregnancy, motherhood). The last drink was tasty, but the first one was perfect.

Main dishes were pretty good. It was nice to do Mexican without feeling my arteries clogging through the whole meal. I felt very daring ordering a seafood burrito, but it had a great mix of flavors and wasn't nearly as heavy as versions I've tried elsewhere.

The desserts were hit-and-miss. The fry bread was huge but kind of boring; the molten chocolate cake had a weird texture and weak flavor. I'd head to Cupcake Royale instead.

The atmosphere was a bit loud, but conversations did occur. Service was friendly, fast, and (my husband's standard) attractive.

But the main reason I'll return is that I can get $25 Mission gift certificates for $10 on http://Restaurants.com. WOOHOO!

Hands down the best Mexican food I've had in Seattle.

It's like gourmet Mexi-goodness. I think you have to be 21 after 9 pm. Sorry kiddies!

Anyway, the atmosphere is awesome...very loungy. A great place to take a date. Not formal or anything, but nice enough to show that you have some taste. The food is incredible and affordable. You can expect to spend about $14 per plate. I highly recommend Mission... especially if you're a CA native that is tired of force feeding yourself Washington-style Mexican food (barfed in my mouth a little bit).

Whaaaa? I cannot believe I've yet to review Mission!

A friend of mine recently asked, "Katie, I'll be in West Seattle for a date.. Where to go for drinks and/ or dinner?" My immediate response, without hesitation: "Mission!"

I was a patron of theirs early on and have always had great food, great service and good drinks each and every time I've been in. While I'm a big a fan of their Mole and their margaritas, the main reason for my returns is usually the plantain chips & guac... they're just so good!

They've got a great cocktail list as well. While the place can get busy on any given night, it's still some seriously sexy atmosphere and makes for a great date spot. The rock wall behind the bar is impressive and even more impressive is the tiny tea lights that it houses.

Hand's down, the best date spot in West Seattle. Take the lady/ gent there today.. it won't disappoint!

When Mission first opened a few years ago I use to go all the time because it was new. Than one day I ventured across the street to the Admiral Pub and discovered fried mac 'n cheese and never looked back until recently.

The food is tasty, I enjoy the guacamole with spicy plantains, if you order this take the plantains out of the guacamole right away otherwise they get soggy and I soon discovered I don't like soggy plantains. The queso fundido is a fun so say as well to eat and the three cheese and artichoke dip accompanied by chips to use for dipping is tasty as well. Their mission nachos are know to be crack to some.

Their service can be hit or miss, if it's a big group I don't think they know what to do with themselves but if just you and a friend or two things seem to go ok but not always so consider yourself warned.

They have happy hour everyday from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm which is nice because sometimes you need a happy hour on Sunday, unfortunately they only have drink specials no food specials but the food isn't outrageously prices so it's not bad plus they have Mexican ice cream for dessert, yum!

West Seattle is actually winning my cold heart over, but don't tell Ballard, for she's a jealous bitch.

Great interior, good HH beer prices, tasty 3 cheese artichoke dip and guacamole with plantain chips...

Cranky pissy waitress who copped attitude at my request to separate my tab out before the impending mob of people showed and proceeded to leave it at the bar for me to fetch instead of dropping it with me. You can suck my imaginary left nut.

******UPDATE 4/9/2008: Meh. I was hoping to increase the stars given for Mission, but I still haven't tried their food after going there for HH last night. From my perspective, the servers were less than friendly and they attempted to make the group close their tab when we moved from the bar to a booth and then from the booth to the couches upstairs. For large parties they will split the bill onto no more than 3 cards and the slap the gratuity on there automatically. The food still smells delicious and there did seem to be a decent sized crowd that accumulated as the evening progressed, but I can't get over the servers with permanent stink-face.****END UPDATE****

Okay, maybe I went here on the wrong night, though you'd think SATURDAY would be a good night to see some action. I'm hoping that it was the rain that kept people away....

We didn't eat, but the food did look and smell good...I'll definitely be back to try it - maybe some time when I don't feel like hanging out with people on a Saturday night.

The highlights:

The bartender was nice and the drinks were strong.
They were playing Talib Kweli and other hip-hop that I can definitely hang with.
Nice decor and a casual atmosphere.

The low-lights:

The high occurrence of bleached blond in the VIP area upstairs was blinding myself and the friend who went with me.
There was practically no one there, except for within said VIP area.

We ended up just heading across the street to the Admiral Pub and then took our sober selves to the Hurricane for some bitchin' grub at one in the morning.

I'll go back to re-evaluate and try the food - hopefully this place will be able to garner some extra stars from me.

I rarely make it over to West Seattle, but I had a gift certificate for $100 for Mission. Typically you can't find good Latin/Mexican food at a high class place. The best mexican food I've ever had was from a lunch truck in Eastern Washington...but I digress.

Mission's food was superb. Not out of this world, but very solid. Make sure you get the Corn on the Cob tapa as it is simply amazing. Probably the best corn I've had on the West Coast.

Didn't try Wi-Fi, so I have no idea about that here. We also happened to stumble upon Kung Fu night. It's pretty surreal to be in a Latin/Mexican place in Seattle watching Kung Fu movies.
