I came in from the cold on their first Sunday open in several months. The cafe is much bigger inside than it looked from the outside. It has a great coffee shop look with a tall ceiling that makes it look even more spacious. I came in for the Colombian coffee,  which was served generously in a giant mug (16 oz?). The staff was friendly and helpful in getting my phone recharged. They have free wifi, too. Score!

This is my usual spot for business lunches downtown or a place to do sidework if I'm not feeling particularly social. Mrs. Potter's gets busy during the lunch hours, but otherwise is a pretty quiet, relaxed & spacious environment (if I want to be social I'll go to any of a dozen cafes in the Highlands). Plenty of places to plug a laptop in, though the wifi is a on the slow side.

Their lunch is great though; I'll often order the special and an iced coffee and I'm good for a few hours or more.

On vacation - in Louisville just one day and stopped to see a museum. Pleasant surroundings and nice staff.  Excellent flatbread pizza and decent sandwiches.

Prosciutto and fig jam, ham and Brie, roasted peppers with goat cheese...three of the many panini sandwiches offered here that we tried. All were excellent. We did lots of sharing. Side salads were also great. Sat outside since it was shay and still cool enough. Service was very good; friendly. If we weren't visiting town we'd eat here all the time.

My first visit to Mrs. Potters a few months ago resulted in a trip to the grocery store to stock up on apples, bacon, cheddar and brioche bread in attempt to recreate the bacon with apple panini...that attempt resulted in a few more visits back to Mrs. Potter's to get the real deal. They don't sell hearty slices of bacon like they serve at Mrs. Potters--love it!

Of course I didn't go back just for the lunch; I had to try out the coffee shop on the other side. Selection of teas and coffee drinks is extensive. Plus, I am so thankful that they serve cold-brewed iced coffee (as opposed to espresso shots over ice otherwise known as iced Americanos but surreptitiously served as iced coffee like Vint and Java). And they'll even make an iced cafe au ait, which is not on the menu!

The service is friendly and offers an appropriate amount of attentiveness--it never seems to be very crowded. Other notable bits of awesomeness at Mrs. Potters are the outdoor seating, happy hours from 4-7pm M-F and the option to do work on your laptop in the restaurant area where there are ample outlets. They are lacking on the outlet front in the coffee shop side.

My reason for not giving Mrs. Potter's 5 stars illustrates in itself that it should be a 5 star establishment, but it is because of their hours. They close super early. 3 pm closing time on Sunday? C'mon...

Even though I spent just two days in Louisville, I ended up at Mrs. Potter's three times. Yep, three.

There isn't much to complain about, so I'll give you my personal highlights:

    1) The biggest breakfast paninis. They are magnanimous. Beautiful and as big as your face, stuffed with various combinations of egg, cheese, meat and/or veggies. I was particularly fond of the egg, cheddar and tomato. Simple and delicious.

    2) Yogurt and granola. Add fruit if you can! Super fresh with the perfect amount of sweetness.

    3) Iced lattes. Get one. Get two and give one to a friend or a random stranger. I was a big fan of these cool, dreamy treats. There are plenty of syrups to choose from, too!

    4) Every staff member I ran into was incredibly sweet and helpful.

    5) Dining room is very spacious with plenty of places to hold a meeting. The coffee area is quite a bit smaller but you'll still find a smattering of chairs and couches to get the job done.

Thanks for a really good run, Mrs. Potter's. I'll be sure to visit again next time I'm in Louisville.

My local coffee shop (aka Central Perk).  They serve delicious local roasted Sunergos Coffee and have a ton of great foodie options too, like fresh made scones and soups.  It's a great meeting space within walking distance to most of the downtown businesses so busy most weekdays.  Also there are a few coveted outdoor tables, so make sure to get there early to claim yours.

I was on vacation in Louisville when I happened upon Mrs. Potter's Coffee.  The outdoor seating lured me in, and I noticed the strong, rich, wonderful coffee smell. I ordered a coffee and homemade blueberry muffin - with real blueberries.  Both were elegantly presented and very good.  My companion ordered a panini with turkey, cheddar, and bacon, served with a green salad.  Everything was very fresh and high quality.

Improvement areas: Service is slow, so make sure you have time to relax.  I would have preferred a larger breakfast selection - a few more options and a wider assortment of pastries.

Overall, a nice experience.  Check it out!

Needed a good cup of coffee and some breakfast while I was at work, so I made the quick walk here from my office, and I'm glad I did.

I opted for the "bold coffee of the day" and a bacon, egg and cheese panini. I wasn't expecting to have multiple coffee of the day choices, so I just made a snap decision to go for the bold coffee, and it was a good choice, and so hot that I actually had to wait a few minutes before I could drink it.

My panini was easily the size of two regular sandwiches, and the fluffy eggs and gooey cheddar were perfect. The bacon, however, was a little on the weak side, as it's obviously pre-packaged thin and crispy bacon.

Service was, as others have said, a bit on the slow side. It took a minute for the barista behind the counter to even notice I had come in, and then there was a wait of several minutes for my panini.

Definitely a place worth visiting if you want coffee and breakfast, but have a few minutes to wait for it.

Good coffee place near the museums in Louisville. Had a red eye (sunergos blend with espresso shot).  Was very tasty.  Place also had a nice atmosphere.

Great atmosphere.  Great panini.  Also, table-side s'mores.  Yum!  This is easily my most favorite place for lunch during the work week.

Something about this place just makes you feel comfortable.  It is cozy, relaxing, like your Grandma's kitchen...well except there are decorative skateboards hanging from the walls!  Guess maybe a hip grandma's house??

If they were to add come couches and a local jazz band, this would be the most perfect coffee/diner ever.  Just a thought.

I just left with a big Meh.  The coffee was decent, but the location was small, the service was medicore, and the prices were a little high.  It has a nice downtown location.

I will admit that my wife enjoyed it more than I did.  So she might have given it a higher rating.

After a visit to the Louisville Slugger Museum on a cool fall day, this was the perfect place for a group of grown ups to stop for coffee and a quick bite to eat.  I checked out the area on Yelp and once again was happy with the recommendation!  Mrs. Potter's is only a few doors down from the museum so it was convenient.  Service was great. Prices were fair.  I ordered the roasted pepper panini and was happy.  Side salad was healthy mix of greens.  Quesadillas had apples slices that were pretty chunky...I'd have sliced thinner, but it was an interesting use of ingredients.  Also onions and peppers on another quesadilla would have been better if sauteed.  Please note, everything was tasty so I'm not complaining, just informing. Atmosphere was trendy and relaxed. Art on display showcased some good local talent.

Yum, yum, yum. There are three things that I really like...panini's, pesto and chicken and Mrs. Potter's supplies me with all three of these combined!  I love the tomato pesto panini and I often craving multiple times during the work week.  With Mrs. Potter's being just a hop, skip and a jump away from my office it is a great lunch spot.

I will warn you though, the service is not always as speedy as it could be so if you are needing a fast lunch you might want to try something else.

Your drink will come in a mason jar, super cool. The food is fresh and tasty.  Also, with a relatively inexpensive menu, one can afford to go out to lunch here.  Also, the coffee is pretty good.  Why not grab some lunch and pick up a coffee to go as you head back to the office for the afternoon?

Starbucks done Louisville Style...this place has the perfect venue.
Coffee and Dining separated by a wall with a walk through space, you can enter one door and get your bagel and Barista on or enter through there main doors and try a cocktail and a crafted panini.

This larger then expected shop has outdoor seating and indoor local artists. Rotating about every two months they will allow local artists to put up work to sell, which continues to change the vibe of the interior. Sometimes they will even host shows and music.

This place now delivers downtown! With a fantastic light menu selection that will fill you up, because there is no skimping on portions here.

My ONLY compliant is the hours. This place could easily move into a competitor for dinner and weekends, but the hours are so random, the happy hours so short, and the weekends just not supported. I wish they would invest the time and service staff to make this place go from great to local favorite!

Located in Museum Row you will find just a couple tourist in town dining, but they have a perfect location on main to catch any locals or tourists.

It has always been a perfect place to sit, relax, and enjoy my preferred libation and snack. All the staff are friendly and will get to treating you like a regular before you realize you are one.

Amazingly fresh ingredients for the flavorful sandwiches with side salad or whatever suits your fancy for under 10 bucks. This is my fave downtown lunch spot.

I also really like the atmosphere. It is pretty in a simple cozy kind of way. Almost sheik, but too understated to quite qualify. It is a great spot to grab a coffee, a great alcoholic beverage (I'm a fan of these precious champagnes with blackberry or whatever flavor you want.) Next friend that gets married, this is where we'll be for the bridal lunch or whatever those things are called.

So food suggestions. The spinach dip in the bread bowl is INCREDIBLE! I also loved my tomato basil mozzarella sandwich. It kind of rocked my world. I got a tasty side salad with it for 6.95. Winning.

I also totally dig the Apple Walnut salad with some chicken up in there. Healthy. Filling. Tasty. Cheaper than going to Panera and not much more than a salad at Micky-D's.

And I haven't even tried the table side smores yet! Since it is getting cold this is a must do on my list. And then maybe it will go up to 6 stars, oh wait. It will just prove my point on the initial review :)

Good place to grab a coffee if you're staying at the 21C Museum Hotel... it's a few store fronts down. I had a banana and some tea. Loose leaf tea offered - tasty Hibiscus tea. Someone else in my group had a muffin and someone else had a breakfast panini, all was tasty and a good option if you don't want a big breakfast at Proof in the hotel (though Proof is delicious too, more expensive of course).

Mrs. Potter's Coffee is apparently a coffee shop, a bar, and a café. After a long day of traveling to Louisville for a conference, I was desperate for some lunch. Someone suggested I try Mrs. Potter's and I'm happy I followed the suggestion. The place is split with the coffee shop on one side and the bar and café on the other side. I had quite the late lunch (around 3 o'clock) so I was actually the only person there at the time. That being said, I don't think I got the most generalizable experience, but some of my experience must be true to the usual. The service was pretty good and the food was tasty. I had a chicken quesadilla that was served with sides of sour cream and chipotle ranch dressing. With a coke, my lunch cost me under $11. Reasonably priced. The menu has a number of options including a selection of soups, salads, paninis, and wraps. And of course, there is a full bar too. If you're in the area, I definitely recommend walking down West Main Street and stopping in at Mrs. Potter's Coffee.

This is quite possibly my favorite place to schedule a work or casual meeting, because they serve phenomenal coffee- and, if you're in the mood, lunch and some local craft beer.  The red pepper sandwich is by far the best sandwich on the menu.

Perfect spot for a freelancer to grab a great cup of coffee and get down to business. Staff is beyond knowledgeable about their product and they're super friendly. I got a wonderful lesson on iced coffee during my last visit. I've never tried the food, but it looks quite tempting.

If you're looking for a true coffee shop that you can sit in for hours (literally), this is a great place make it happen.

(Can't forget that free WiFi )

Very good dark roast. Green tea quality was excellent but water temperature was too high. Should be 170 *

I like a lot of items on their dinner menu, but the service can be slow. It's one thing if the place is busy, but even when it's quiet, I'm waiting a lot. The hours are also unreliable as the place seems to close randomly. Good spot for a light dinner downtown and a drink, when it's open. The coffee is very good.

Having been a lead barista at a high-end coffee shop for years I roll my eyes while reading some of these reviews: "coffee tasted burnt... went to Starbucks."

Having seen the baristas at Mrs. Potter's at work creating indulgent lattes with painstakingly elaborate presentations of latte art I seriously doubt it was the coffee that was crude, but rather the palate of the consumer ("ew, this doesn't taste like my 7-11/Dunkin' Donuts/Starbucks sugar-free french vanilla no foam latte, the coffee must be burnt.").

The baristas were considerate without being overwhelmingly bright-eyed like their corporate coffee equivalents. They told me a bit about downtown Louisville (I'm here on work, looking for things to do with my free time), but were distracted a bit by the focus they were placing on pulling my shots (a very good thing).

I found my beverage to be carefully prepared and well-balanced, while it delivered a strikingly full presentation of the nutty acidity one would expect while tasting high-quality Colombian arabica. Notably: this is not the experience one would encounter while tasting "burnt" coffee.

That said, having visited eleven independent shops in Louisville so far, I've found Mrs. Potter's to be one of the best, and on par with top-tier shops in Chicago and Miami.

Better coffee than Starbucks, friendly staff, and the homemade bourbon balls are outstanding.  The breakfast panini sandwich is big enough to share.  Things could have gone a little more smoothly in terms of getting the order right and getting correct change, but I'm not sure if that was me or them the (early) morning after St. Pat's.

friendly, efficient staff. prices are right - especially the half-price mexican hot chocolate in honor of dia de los muertos. i wasn't about to tell them that they were a couple days off if it was going to save me a buck...

my companions said the coffee was better at the place down the street, but i enjoyed the vibe of mrs. potter's for the 4-5 minutes we were there. didn't hit the bar, but the vibe seemed pretty laid back, and they offer $1 off for foursquare check-ins, which is a nice perk.

i'll go back the next time i'm in louisville, which i hope is soon.

Downtown Louisville and I couldn't find a Starbucks.

My coworker had stayed at the hotel adjacent to this so we came here to grab coffee and breakfast.  The bananas were all brown so I passed.

Cute assortment of hand crafted stuff - from t-shirts, to jewelery to hand made pottery mugs - many bearing the name of the establishment.  My soy mocha was served piping hot - though a bit bland and weak.  My coworker said his coffee tasted burnt.

We ended up driving 15 minutes out of the way to locate a Starbucks for pastries .... lame huh?

We walked into Mrs. Potter's expecting to get a quick cup of coffee before heading back to our hotel... instead we saw a bar(!!!) and ordered a mint julep (my *NEW* favorite drink) and a couple of glasses of local craft brew. Our server was super sweet and she knew a lot about beer. The rest of the staff was friendly and they seemed to have a good camaraderie. The atmosphere was welcoming an the drinks make you want to stay for hours. Good quality, great prices.

The coffee is good and the type changes daily. I had hummous wrap that was nice. Also cute people work here, you may wish to oggle them while your drink is being prepared.  I like to support independant roasters, so go here.

The service there is friendly but everything else is straight up, Yelp-indicator "meh." Had the turkey panini for lunch which was basically toasted white bread with slimey packaged turkey and some cheddar cheese slices. Nothing else to it, and they didn't even have mustard to add to it so it was dry to boot. The mozzarella and tomato panini looked a little better but still on bread that should not be part of a "panini." The tea list is good though and it is cozy in there. The food however, is pretty inedible.
