One of the worst and most confusing dining experiences I've ever had.
We went here for DineLA and a couple of people in my party ordered the Chicken Kale Salad because it got rave reviews. First came an appetizer cup of soup (regularly $4 on the regular menu).  Then the Chicken Kale Salad came and it was the really tiny plate that was really more of a side salad and also they forgot the chicken part of the chicken kale salad.  We asked the waiter and he confirmed that it is the DineLA portion which is smaller but he brought the chicken after most of the salad was eaten. On the regular menu, the small chicken kale salad was $10.  So add that with the soup, the meal would've cost $14.  However, the DineLA price for the meal was $20.  Dessert wasn't included. Now how does that make sense? DineLA is meant to be cheaper than the regular menu.  What's the point of ordering off the DineLA menu if it's more expensive for the exact same thing?  When we asked the waiter, he didn't seem to understand our explanation and so he got the manager.  The manager came and took off one of the chicken kale salads and said that we were indeed given the wrong size salad and it should've been the bigger entrée size.  We tried explaining to the manager that the DineLA deal isn't really a savings at all.  Even if we did get the larger entrée salad.  It only costs $15 on the regular menu.  So including the cup of soup, it would've only cost $19 at the non-DineLA price.  Instead, it's $20 for DineLA. All the manager could say was "i'm not sure what to say...that's just how it's priced."
It didn't really make sense to us how the waiter did not know that he gave us the smaller version (especially after he said he confirmed with the kitchen that we got the right one). Â I'm sure we weren't the first ones to order this salad as part of DineLA so you'd think he would've noticed if we got a smaller salad than normal. Â
Also, I ordered garlic fries as a side and those didn't come out until I was pretty much done with the meal.
I'm giving this place 2 stars because the food is actually pretty good. Â But otherwise, it would've been just one star. Â If you go to this restaurant, just don't order the DineLA menu. It's a scam.
I would die over and over again for their kale salad. I actually get cravings for it, and I'm not a big salad person. The parmesan and lemon vinaigrette is wonderful and the golden raisins are a touch that I would never have thought to add to a salad, but it really is wonderful.
Please, even if you think you don't like salads, just try the kale salad. You don't even need the chicken, it's so good.
Their pre-meal bread is also wonderful. It tastes like my mother's homemade pizza.
As for parking, use valet. It's far and away cheaper than using the parking garage.
I've been here a few times for happy hour and experienced both levels of service - good and not so good. Sitting at the bar was definitely much better than at the outside patio but during the summer... where are you going to sit - outside!
If you're watching your calories there's not too much to choose from off the happy hour menu but if calories are of no consequence to you, then it's a pretty decent menu.
Stick with the wine during HH. I've always enjoyed what I've got but as far as cocktails go - I'm not a fan of cheap well brand drinks so I just can't go there. I had one sip of their sangria, as that was why I primarily went there, but it was awful. It was made with white wine & cheap vodka (aka gasoline) and after one sip my stomach felt like it had a hole burning through my the lining - for hours.... Maybe I'm a sensitive sole but there you have it.
I really enjoyed my Pinot Noir and fish tacos which was the most calorie conscience item available.
THE WORST.
My wife and I went in at 9:00 PM on July 3rd. Â The place was dead, so we sat in the bar area and ordered beers that came right out and chicken wings that didn't. Â After a long wait (our beer glasses were nearly empty), the waitress came over and said, "your chicken wings will be just a few more minutes."
"What?" we balked incredulously. Â "What's taking so long? There are more people working here than there are customers."
"I don't know," she said. Â "I'm sorry. Â I don't know what to say. Â Sorry."
In a few minutes, the wings did come...very hot and overcooked. Â Then my mussels arrived. Â I pried open one shell to find a puny little mussel inside, consisting mostly of the gristly stuff that secures the body to the shell. Â The next one was like that, too. Â And the next, and the next...
I called the waitress over and showed her the problem, sending the dish back. Â
More apologizing. Â "I'm sorry. Â Can I get you anything else?" Â
"Yes," I said. "A meal at a decent restaurant." Â
My wife's burger was fine, so we shared that and left. Â The waitress removed both the wings and the mussels from the tab, visibly upset that we had such a bad experience. Â
We left her a nice tip, paid for the burger and beers...and left...never to return.
Great atmosphere. Â The dinner menu offers a great selection/variety...and everything seemed to be very well made. Â At our table we each ordered a separate entree and we shared some sides. Â I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of all the dishes. Â
For appetizers we tried the Crab Cakes, Kale Salad, and Peaches and Prosciutto...I normally LOVE prosciutto-- this particular dish had great flavors but I didn't care too much for the texture of the meat...difficult to tear/cut, and it was sliced fairly thick for prosciutto.
For entrees/sides, we tried the: Seared Ahi, Branzino, Salmon, Alaskan Halibut and fries and sauteed spinach. Â All super satisfying and seasoned and cooked perfectly.
Dessert: Â Butterscotch Bread Pudding and Chocolate Marquis....both okay. Â Great wine selection, too! Â
Not floored in amazement, but definitely thumbs up :)
I've been to Napa Valley Grille on many occasions- my undergrad graduation, Easter, HH, when my parents visited me, etc. It is conveniently located to UCLA. It isn't a 5 star place, the food is okay, but definitely a nicer place to take visitors in Westwood (3.5 ish). My friend just finished her phd! This is a HUGE deal! We're so proud of her. So I wanted to make sure we could do a special lunch for her. I remembered when I graduated and had my lunch here they brought a piece of chocolate cake out, beautifully decorated with 'congrats!' written and a candle! So I thought, wth, this could be a cute place for our research group to celebrate. I called to make reservations a week before and I was told that my server would be notified about the special occasion and would call me the day before to confirm. This didn't happen. The day before I had to call and no answer. I called again, 3 times (first time no one answered, second time I left a voice mail which wasn't returned, and third time got through) the morning of the lunch to confirm our reservations and make sure they knew this was for a very special occasion. We showed up at 1pm and were seated right away. Our server still had no idea it was for a graduation celebration. I was very disappointed in the communication between me, the phone receptionist, the host, and our server. Our water glasses frequently went empty and I was the one who refilled our champagne glasses multiple times. The crab cakes are always a great starter here. Big lumps of crab and beautifully garnished. However the rest of the meal was nothing extraordinary (which I expected). I didn't care for the desserts (lemon tart and corn crepes, neither tasted very great) and ended up going to diddy riese after. The chef walked by to see how the food was, but our server was definitely MIA for most of the meal. Nothing special was done for our graduate, despite all my attempts. Overall, I'm very disappointed with our experience, especially since I tried so hard to make it wonderful for our new phd. Help from the restaurant was expected and would have been appreciated.
Review Source:One of my favorite places in Westwood for Happy Hour! Happy Hour is 4-7 p.m. and 9 p.m. - closing. You can just walk in and get one of the little tables before the dining area or at the bar. The tables are pretty big, not like cramped spaces at Palomino's.
Wine and cocktails for about under $6. They change their cocktails every so often, like their margaritas and sangrias. All are delicious and lovely--they pair very well with the seasons!
Every time I come here I get the kale salad. You HAVE to try this! This dish was the first introduction I ever had to kale and since then I was hooked! It perfectly seasoned, fresh, sweet, salty, crunchy...what's not to love? I have never found a kale salad at another restaurant that is as good as this.
There's some street parking around the area (sometimes hard to find) and valet parking. Usually we walk there so it's not a problem. If we're bar hopping and drive here, we'll park in the Broxton parking lot. It's free for 2 hours before 6 p.m. and a flat fee of $3 if you come in after 6 p.m.
I've been here several times and it's a restaurant I constantly return to when I want to be a little fancy in Westwood. The service is super attentive and I like the atmosphere too, definitely very welcoming.
The food I have to say is not extremely special. There are some dishes that I really like, (their Ahi Tuna) and some that I don't like as much.
The portions are pretty generous, again this depends a little on what you order, but in general they are.
The downside I would say is their desert though. Maybe I was unlucky every time I went there but their pastries were always very flaky.
Regardless this is somewhere I return from time to time.
The service was bad. Â A special lunch was kind of tainted by the bad service. Â Because this business pays for their Yelp account, this review will probably be filtered out. Â But if not, here is the deal:
We tried to get our waiter to bring the cheese course first, let us eat it, then bring us our main course. Â All the food was brought at once, and there wasn't even room at our small table for everything. Â
We decided we would eat our main courses, so they would not get cold. Â The bussers kept coming back and back and taking our food plates. Â I literally took my meal plate back from the busser, as he took it and stacked it on dirty dishes. Â We told them time and time that we were not done (we had only been seated 20 Â mins before our food arrived and they tried to take it, it is not like we were there for hours), but they insisted and took our food, our cheese plate, even our bread plates mid-meal. Â
Overall, very rushed service and unprofessional staff.
Great happy hour!
Nice food selection - not a huge selection - but what's on the menu is sure to delight. Get the chicken chop salad, the fancy mac n cheese.
Go for a great cocktail...it is happy hour after all!
Perfect walking distance to all Wilshire/Westwood restaurants:)
Friendly manager.
Will go back again!
We had the pleasure of finding this restaurant last Wednesday afternoon. It was a lovely day so we sat outside. We started with the Artisan cheese plate which was delicious. It came with delicious bread. I then ordered the hamburger. Nothing else really interested me though the menu was fine. The burger was good and so were the fries. We had a nice afternoon sitting out on the patio. Good service.
Review Source:Came here for weekend happy hour (a +1 star in itself). Happy hours are Mondays - Saturdays, 3-7pm & 9pm - midnight and Sundays 3-11pm.
They served a pretty good selection of food with an even nicer selection of drinks, all reasonably priced.
Food
+ Kale Salad $4.00, with grilled chicken $6.00 - Quinoa, toasted almonds, parmesan cheese, golden raisins, lemon vinaigrette. Easily my fave dish!! Probably way too much cheese and dressing for me to be able to justify this as a healthy dish but it is gooood, definitely a must try.
Duo Fish Tacos $5.00 - Beer battered fish, pickled onions, cabbage-escabeche, chipotle honey. Really liked the pickled onions and the chipotle honey gave a slightly sweet flavor... but they are not the best fish tacos you'll ever have. Doesn't hurt if you're in the mood for em.
French fries with Chimichurri $4.00 - Frankly this was my first time trying chimicurri so I'm obviously not qualified to judge the taste of that aspect of this dish... but overall I thought these were pretty decent, crisp fries. I couldn't taste anything special about them though, given that the chimchurri was supposed to be directly on the fries themselves... oh well. Decent good fries, but prob wouldn't choose this again
NVG Turkey Meatballs $6.00 - tomato fondue, white cheddar, herbs. A decent meatball with a good sweet taste to it, but not worth six bucks for four little meatballs. And btw the "tomato fondue" is pretty much marinara.
Drinks!
We ordered a carafe ($12.50) each of the mango margarita and the basil pineapple sangria, rather than doing glasses of each ($5). For someone who is an ok drinker looking for a fun-filled happy hour, I thought we made a decision. They probably served up about the same amount - 2.5 glasses in each carafe. I preferred the sweeter, more straightforward mango margarita.
One thing to note: Â this place definitely has an older crowd than your average UCLA student/UCLA grad. And by that I mean the mean age of the non-Happy Hour dining area was roughly 75, no exaggeration.
My sister had her rehearsal dinner here and it was nothing but short of fabulous! Their salmon was seriously good. Crisp skin (although it was skinless) and tender center. It melted in my mouth! I had a few bites of my sister's steak and that was pretty phenomenal as well. The steak was perfectly seasoned and a perfect medium rare. The whipped potatoes it sat on top made the perfect bite when I slide my steak through it. I'm a fan of restaurants that slice your steak for you. It showcases how spot on their cooking is. When I see pinkish and a little red center, my mouth starts to water.
I can't say much else of the menu, but our salad with roasted tomatoes was a nice start. It had a smoky fire roasted taste that really worked well with the lightly dressed mixed greens. And the trio of desserts was a nice finish. Rich little bites of heaven. I especially liked the lemon tart. I'd definitely come here again.
I was extremely underwhelmed with my experience here. I'm sure I didn't order the right thing; however, if you're going to have something on the menu, it should at least be somewhat tasty, right?
First off, our waitress was extremely friendly, so I have no complaints about the service. Although, my co-worker may have a different opinion, in that, he specifically asked if the tomato soup contained cream and the waitress assured him it did not. However, the soup did in fact contain cream. We were also warned that it takes forever to get your food, we can now confirm that this is true.
I ordered the lunch trio:
Tomato soup (this was the best tasting thing I ordered)
Half a chicken sandwich - brie and roasted tomatoes (extremely bland)
Arugula heirloom tomato salad (I don't like my salads saturated in dressing, but in this case the dressing was non-existent)
For the price, I can think of much better places to eat.
I've been here once in the past several years ago. Â I didn't remember the interior looking so nice.
I came for Happy Hour and the menu didn't have many items I was excited about ordering. Â I ended up with the spicy Mac and cheese with chorizo along with a thyme lemonade with vodka while my friend ordered the kale salad, turkey meatballs, and a beer.
It took awhile before someone came over to give us menus or to take our orders. Â However, once our server appeared, she was bright, attentive, and helpful.
Valet parking is $4, but I lucked out and found a metered space up the street.
They have a nice enclosed patio area, but it was a bit breezy to sit out there. Â All in all, I wouldn't rush back for Happy Hour although maybe coming for dinner would be better.
Came to the Napa Valley Grille for a special St. Patrick's Day drink and ended up luckily at happy hour which is probably the best reason to come.
Happy hours are from 3-11PM on Sundays and from Mon-Sat - 3PM-7PM and 9PM-midnight. Â Drinks range from $4-$8 with some inventive cocktails mixed in there to wine/sangria choices. Â The St. Patrick's Day martini was fascinating (seasonal) and the blood orange margarita was pretty solid. Â The food items as well range from $4-$7 each which we had a good mixture of from the mac & cheese to the kale salad and the oyster mushrooms/fish tacos. Â Interestingly, the vegetable dishes probably came out best so something to keep note of. Â
The decor was definitely nice and the bar area was easy to get into and find a seat on a Sunday. Â Street parking was a toughie as is around Westwood but valet was fine (paid around $4 I think?) with validation from the restaurant and service wasn't too bad. Â
Again, Napa valley Grille wasn't a great food experience to be honest with interesting presentation and the taste not matching up. Â However, the happy hour is hard to beat and with a daily happy hour, there's no reason not to stop in here if you're thirsty and wanting a small, cheap bite.
This place is great for a business lunch/dinner or if you wanted to have drinks with your office buddies.
The food is very unimpressive but the service is better than average. Their appetizer menu is very limited with average quality; if you must get an appetizer then the house cured salmon stands out. From their grilled section, the branzino, the filet, the pork tenderloin and the rack of lamb are definitely home runs.
Came here for the Happy Hour which is M-F 3-7PM and 9PM-12AM and Sat/Sun from 3PM-11PM. Â Early happy hours don't usually work for me so I was pretty excited that Napa Valley had a later happy hour. Â By the time we walked in, it was close to 11PM and with only a few tables occupied in the bar area.
We tried:
Kale Salad - $4.00 and what a salad this was! Â The parm and kale just worked perfectly together and the little golden raisins were a nice touch. Â Absolutely my favorite dish and for 4 bucks?!!
Chimichurri Fries - don't expect the gaucho grill type of chimichurri. Â In fact, fries were so so...i didn't taste ANY chimichurri. Â i LOVE fries but not exciting.
Mac N Cheese with chorizo - Not bad....was pretty happy with this
Oyster mushrooms with prosciutto - prosciutto was too salty but the oyster mushrooms worked well.
overall, i'd def be back for this kale salad. Â it was sooooooooooooooo yum
White wine sangria, I would marry you if I could. Â But you're only around in the summer time, so I'll just have to think about you longingly for 8 - 9 months out of the year. Â It's like "The Notebook." Â We'll be reunited every couple of seasons (hopefully). Â Though if Ryan Gosling comes around, I might still ditch you. Â Maybe.
Kale salad is good too. Â Add chicken.
I've been here for happy hour several times and lunch once. I can never get over the feeling that I'm being vaguely dismissed. Once, I walked in with a colleague, stood in the entrance for a few moments, and the two guys at the host stand never stopped conferring with each other to acknowledge us. The place was not busy at the time. Kind of inexcusable. The servers have always been nice, but they take a while to show up to the table. So more than once I've had the experience of sitting in a mostly-empty section, wondering if anyone knows I'm there? Not cool.
As for the food, I do really like the kale salad and tacos on the happy hour menu. I don't remember what I had for lunch here ages ago, but I remember enjoying it. And I love the glass-enclosed outdoor patio.
Overall though, I don't tend to choose this place. I think it suffers from the lack of effort that occurs over time when you're well-established in the neighborhood and have a guaranteed stream of business.
If you know you are coming for lunch, make reservations as this place is popular  with the business lunch crowd.  We didn't have a reservation thinking arriving at 11:45am would avoid the lunch rush, but the hostess politely informed me that they were fully booked with upcoming reservations when I voiced my doubts as the restaurant was empty (only 3 parties seated.) She invited us to lunch in the bar area (serves same menu) or on the patio.  Since it was gorgeous outside we had our pick of the patio/bar tables and ended up basking in the So Cal sun.
All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed a quick lunch here today. Our server Sean was exceptionally friendly and professional. Â He didn't blink an eye when I wanted to split the full order of the Chicken Kale salad with my friend. Â (We're eating light today.) Â
After all the Kale recommends, we had to try it - and were not disappointed by it. Â I would absolutely come back for it. The bread and tapenade in olive oil was yummy too.
When Sean checked on us to be sure we were happy, I took the opportunity to ask him how the Kale salad was prepared as I wanted to attempt it at home. Â He gave pretty thorough instructions... though now all I can remember is being wowed at hearing that the raisins are rum soaked. Â say what? Â The black kale is massaged and the quinoa is soaked in something delicious too. Â You know what, I'll just come back for it instead of trying to re-create all those steps. Â
And you know, within an hour, all the tables WERE full.
Valet folks in front of the restaurant are the nicest I've met too. :)
$4 for 2 hours.
NVG is a near weekly stop for us for either happy hour or weekend brunch.
While the happy hour is not all day like Palomino's across the street, it is generally much less crowded and you can actually find a seat at 6pm. Having a great outdoors area during the warmer month is also very enjoyable. I personally think the happy hour drinks are stronger here and I'd have no complaints about the food selection. I only wish they would bring back the mac n cheese with short ribs, which was much better than the chorizo version they're serving nowadays.
While brunch food is fairly standard, they all come in tapa's size portions which is great for sharing and trying out literally the whole list. I'm quite particular to the steak hash and crab benedict. They also have regular lunch menu with salads and sandwiches. So our standard regimen is 3 brunch tapas and 1 lunch entree to share.
Racking up opentable points with every visit helps too =)
This is really a 3.45. I had a great time with a friend at Napa Valley Grille.
We went Dine LA and enjoyed the salmon special and kale salad, not overwhelmingly good, but a solid A-. Â The happy hour cheese plate was an afterthought, not well done at all. For a good Cheese plate, go to the Fairmont. The fish tacos were tiny but very tasty. prosciutto my friend was happy with, but the mushrooms, while excellent, lacked seasoning. Wine was good as expected. I actually ordered some spin off of the Russian Mule, it was bourbon based and in a glass cup, nothing like a mule but tasty. apple galette, good but not as good as the one I make at home, my benchmark. Service excellent.
For happy hour, you will leave hungry and will sit there wondering where you'll go next to fill up.
While it is a nice restaurant with an outdoor patio seating and heated lamps, it doesn't compare to the happy hour at Palominos across the street which is significantly cheaper. The portions are so small and the happy hour isn't much of a deal. The Kobe hot dogs were very good, though! I just needed 2 more orders to feel satisfied. The other items weren't as memorable.
However, if you get treated to a lunch/dinner or get to order catering without having to pay, go for it!
It kills me to give NVG anything but a five. This restaurant has been me and my wife's go-to for a nice dinner out, taking out-of-town guests, grabbing a drink and appetizers before an event near Westwood, etc. I'll mention some positives first:
-Excellent food and great selection. I can always find something on the menu I love. Delicious options, many of which have a slight original twist to them.
-The lead chef often says hi and asks how the food is. That's awesome. Really cool gesture that implies the restaurant really cares about the customers' experience.
-Good wine selection.
-Very attentive staff. Friendly and knowledgable.
-Killer charcuterie options for those who love appetizers or a good meat/cheese plate.
-Bread and olive oil - yum.
-Patio is really beautiful, spacious and heated.
The reason I didn't give NVG a five is because of my New Year's Eve experience this year. I'm thankful I have a wife I always have a blast with no matter the circumstances, because Napa Valley really blew it. The food, I will say, was pretty good, but seemed a heck of a lot heavier/greasier than usual. The service was HORRIBLE that night. Every other time I've been there the waiters have been very knowledgable, friendly and attentive. This guy could barely focus and would disappear for 20 minutes at a time. A couple at a table next to us got up and went to the same waiter and said "I've had it. I'm over this. We've waited forever" and walked out. The waiters seemed disengaged, disorganized and generally disinterested. They were standing around talking, the service was slow and apathetic. Really too bad - they need a reality check on whatever happened that night.
I'm still going to go back soon because I've had so many good experiences there. I just hope the didn't drop a bunch of the staff they used to have (which I heard a rumor they did).
I have been wanting to try this place since I saw it on The Millionaire Matchmaker. Â Everyone at my job raves about it, and people are often shocked when they discover I had never been there. Â Well, now I have.
First, let me say the dineLA menu is not worth it. Â For $20, you only get a 2-course lunch, with the option to pay $6 for a "supplemental dessert." Â The two appetizer options are mussels and clams or the white bean and proscuitto soup. Â The white bean and proscuitto soup is $4 for the small or $7 for the large. Â The mussels and clams are not listed on the regular menu, so you don't know how much it costs normally. Â The main course options are the mushroom agnolotti, which also appears to have disappeared from the main menu, or the chopped chicken kale salad, which is around $8 for a small or $14.75 for a large.
My co-worker ordered the soup and salad from the dineLA menu. Â The soup was in a pretty small bowl, and we were unable to determine whether she got the $4 soup or the $7 soup. Â Let's assume she got the $7 soup. Â Together with her $14.75 chicken and kale salad, she only saved $1.75. Â She also ordered a pomegranate tea that cost $6 and came in a bottle. She said her meal was okay but that she would rather have opted for a $20 menu item and skipped dineLA altogether. Â
I opted out of the dineLA option and ordered the cioppino for $21. Â The price was on par with most other cioppino prices. They did not skimp on the seafood either. Â I had a sufficient amount of mussels, clams, crab claws, and shrimp. There was no white fish, though, as there typically is in a true cioppino. Also, the "broth" wasn't very soupy. Â It was very thick--like, marinara sauce thick. That said, it was pretty flavorful. It was nicely spiced, and the grilled garlic bread that came with it was a nice treat to scoop the sauce with. Overall, it wasn't the best cioppino I've ever had, but it was good. My fresh lemonade was $3.50. Â It was pretty watered down - not sour, not sweet, not particularly lemony. I wouldn't order it again.
Our service was fine. The waiter was very friendly and helpful until we told him we had a discount card for $20 off. His expression turned very sour upon noticing that, which I can only assume was because he though we would tip on the discounted price. Unfortunately for him, we were going to tip him 20% of the pre-discount total until that point. After he got sour, we dinged him about 2% (which is still a decent tip on what would otherwise have been a $55 lunch).
The parking situation here is not bad. Â They have valets out front, but you have to drive up to their valet stand. Â They can't park your car if you pull into the garage. Â They also have a self-park option in the garage. Â Me? Â I just walk. Â
The atmosphere is very nice. Â It's a classy place, though, I did see Mike Brown (former Lakers coach) dining with some women wearing adidas track suits. Â They must have been associated with the LA Sparks. Â Everyone else had on nice slacks, suits, power ties, the works.
I booked Napa Valley Grille for a dinner for work associates when we had a meeting at the Hotel Palomar nearby so this review is for the private events services. Â They did a fantastic job!
We started with appetizer selections: fig and prosciutto with burrata or blue crab cakes. Â I had the blue crab cakes and they were very good.
Then we had a choice of salads: a chopped kale salad with lemon vinaigrette or butter lettuce salad. Â I had the chopped kale and it was awesome - I'm going to try to replicate the recipe at home, loved it!
For mains we had the choice of salmon or steak. Â I had the salmon which was good but needed a starchy side dish, it only had some fancy greens.
For dessert we were each given a chefs sampler trio. Â I can't remember what exactly was on it but all 3 were yummy :)
The service was spot on and they kept our wine glasses full throughout the service.
Highly recommended for a business diner!
Came here for a boozy bourgie brunch in good ol' Westwood.
What to know: $12 bottomless mimosas is NOT bottomless.
We came here after doing some research on places with bottomless mimosas and originally we were gonna hit up Soleil, which offered bottomless mimosas at $15 with a 2hr limit.
We switched gears and ended up here at 1030am...when they open at 11am. Â Note to self: in the event of changing restaurants for brunch, make sure to look up when the restaurant opens.
In terms of the bottomless mimosas, it's made fresh. Â Our waiter popped the champagne right behind our table and made a fresh batch each time we needed a refill. Â We were capped after the waiter told us that we drank about a bottle per person. Â You'll see the pitchers come out less quickly and less frequently as time goes by. Â Quite unfortunate because I could've easily continued drinking these babies and after a trip to the restroom toward the end of the meal, I went from unsober to instantly sober. Â We were there for maybe two hours so I guess it makes sense they'd want to kick us out.
Brunch serves small plates so order two of them if you're hungry, otherwise go for a lunch plate. Â I had the Smoked Salmon Benedict with a side of Potato Hash, which were both delish. Â I really liked the benedict and I liked that it wasn't a huge portion--just enough.
Waiter was nice and attentive...minus when we wanted more booze. Â And the chef came out to check up on us from time to time, nice guy.
Would I come back? Â Maybe for happy hour and possibly a couple more times for bottomless mimosas, at least I know now they're not bottomless--still worth the money I'd say.
Came here for a business lunch today. Great place for a business lunch. Very spacious, LOVE the ceiling decorations. I ordered the
BUTTERNUT SQUASH SOUP: really yummy with some pepper and the bread they provide. the spiced pepitas are a nice touch too.
BRAISED SHORT RIB SANDWICH: the root vegetable chips are REALLY GOOD. The sandwich itself was alright. Didn't have as much flavor as I'd like and was slightly on the oily side.
CHICKEN KALE SALAD: I tried my coworkers salad and definitely made a note to myself to order that one the next time I came here. It went really well with the vinaigrette.
BUTTERSCOTCH BREAD PUDDING: The favorite of the table. The pudding was warm with a nice hint of butterscotch, topped with a dollop of marshmallow.
3.5 Stars.
I plan on coming back here to try out their happy hour.
HAPPY HOUR REVIEW
Nothing too special, just got a beer ($4) and fries (~$4) with the coworkers, who also got a beer and a dirty martini ($7). The fries were pretty good actually.
However, I do know that my supervisor and boss both hate this place for poor service. I didn't experience any of that during happy hour. Ambiance seemed good, service was ok. Nevertheless, there def are other places to check out after work.
**GOOD SPOT FOR BUSINESS LUNCH IN WESTWOOD**
3.5 stars.
I've eaten here twice for lunch and both times, solid, but nothing OMG.
ORDERED:
TRIO ($14.50 for all three lunch items)
*BUTTERNUT SQUASH SOUP
Soup was warm and tasty. I enjoyed it with their provided table breads. I am a dipper.
*HEIRLOOM TOMATO SALAD
Fresh, nothing memorable. Solid with the bits of heirloom tomatoes. Dressing was also average.
*CHICKEN SANDWICH
Half sandwich was *ok* at best. I didn't care for it and took off the bread top, so it was *open-face*.
The place was spacious, so plenty of room to move around and discuss business.
The service was friendly, but not overly.
Again, a good spot for a business lunch but not for a hot date.
Will return for Happy Hour.
RECOMMEND.
