Good cheap draft beers and a strong college vibe....

It's obviously really crowded on Tuesday night for Pint Night with something like $2 pints and $5 liters of beer. To be honest, I've never actually gotten beer at Pint Night. You really have to catch the attention of the bartenders... even when they say they'll be right with you, they either ignore you or take forever to get back to you. I hate being rude trying to catch them, but you really have to go for it here.

Get in line before 10:30! The security guards will let a lot of their friends (mostly big groups of girls) through even when the line is long, so that's pretty shady. If  my friends and I get there before 11, we order some drinks at the main bar, and then go downstairs where there is a little more space and you don't have to wait as long for drinks. It gets hot down there, don't bother dressing up cause you'll be sweaty. Of course it's a great college spot--a go-to for UCLA students. Pretty dirty and dank, nasty bathrooms. Since I've graduated, I've come here once a month at most to catch up with friends who still go there. It's one of those spots you just can't avoid even though it's not that great.

Came this Tuesday for pint night.  $2 beers you can't beat that.  But when this bartender who serves me doesn't say thank you when i receive a tip.  Later, I am waiting for 15 minutes to be served a drink.  I see this new guy come to the bar next to me and gets served within 30 seconds by the same ungrateful bartender who ignores those who give him tips.

I later asked to speak with the manager.  Unfortunately, he was the manager.

Super crowded the times I went, but fun for college students.

Kind of a random review bec a friend and I had been at Gypsy Cafe, then Diddy Riese, and since I had never been here before in all my years at UCLA, I decided to see what it was like on a Friday night at like 12am.

    First off:

    1) very crowded in some parts such that you could barely move through
    2) very white LOL ... lotta "American" college girls and guys, which is cool, but not a lot of diversity. I had heard that the foreign students learning English in the village would go there, but I didn't see any foreigners besides a group of Saudi guys :)
    3) Didn't buy drinks, so dono abt selection or prices
    4) MUSIC: we struck gold here bec I was in the mood to go out dancing to a club earlier in the night, but that plan was foiled. so when we got to o'haras and realized there were spots where it was empty and we could dance, that's what we did in front of one of the big flat-screen TVs... so we hung there for about an hour just dancing and goofing off and people-watching and it was fun!
    5) Note: lot of people ppl making out and dirty dancing :)

This is a typical college bar-- kind of dank, but unpretentious and unassuming. It's a pretty good place to be if all you care about is hanging out with your buds at what could be your second living room. There's a bar right smack in the center and if it weren't for the rowdy crowd, the place actually looks pretty collegiate with the wood timings and bookcases. The beer selection is typical, nothing surprising there. The great thing is that they offer liters for $10! It's a good deal if you plan on having more than 2 pints anyway. They also have a cocktail menu. The laid back lemonade and the tennessee iced tea were downright tasty. The food is also pretty standard. The burgers were cooked medium. Fries were good. Nachos were a good portion. Good place to watch a game.

Dim lighting, sticky floors, dirty tables, really terrible service (why does it take 20 minutes for me to get a drink when it's not even that busy? why do you insist on holding credit cards hostage after we've asked for them back? why do you make me wait in line forever?) But then again. $2 beers on pint night. Although...terrible sound and music, stuffy downstairs dance floors, pretty creepy bathrooms. The crowd whenever I've been there could be described as a bro-y sausage fest with a weird mix of wasted sorority girls and awkward international grad students.

Definitely not the place to go if you want to be able to have a conversation with friends, or gourmet food and drinks with classy people, and BrewCo tends to have a way less creepy vibe... can't say I'll miss it when I graduate, but I made some hilarious college memories here! It definitely has character. P.S. don't call it O'Hara's unless you want people to assume you're not from around here...

It's a dirty, dark, hole filled with undergrads. Perhaps I could appreciate it as a 3am last call dive, were it not for the fascist alcohol regulations in LA.

I've had fun there when I've gone with a good group of friends. But how many bars is that not true of?

I'm not gonna bash this place on the grounds that its basically a frat party at a bar because chances are, thats what most people come here for (Tuesday night in particular. It seems like the bar might be under new management because all of the bartenders are new (none of them wear uniforms anymore) and the service is a lot slower than before.

I'm actually one of the "loud Jets fans" the other reviewer speaks of - but I also used to go to this bar before it became a Jets bar ('12 season). There are plenty of TVs that show other games, the girls who work there are super nice and the beer is cheap. Yes, it's hot and sometimes it stinks and yes, when a bunch of fans get together they/we get loud.. .. it's bar. Come on, what do you expect?

Two years ago I would have given this place 3 stars. It used to be a halfway decent college bar that could maintain service despite being overcrowded. My last visit proved that this is no longer the case.

My friends and I got a table and ordered a few beers and a bite to eat and sat down to watch the Olympic opening ceremony. I was immediately taken aback by our waitress's nasty attitude: she asked us if we wanted drinks as if we were inconveniencing her by being there. My girlfriend ordered at Fat Tire, which was never brought. The waitress finally informed us they were out, so we ordered a blue moon... Which was also never brought. Eventually we just had to go directly to the bar to get the drink.

We decided to leave early. When the check finally came the waitress tried to charge us for BOTH the beers, along with a slew of other drinks and dishes that were supposed to be on our friends' tab and not on ours. When we tried to explain this to the waitress she sneered at us and said that she "knew the check was wrong, and that we should just forget it and pay what we owe." I have never been so shocked by bad service before. After much confusion we finally got out paying for only the two beers we ordered. When we stood up to leave the waitress almost ran into us carrying some shots, and she sneered at us one more time saying we almost made her drop them (we were stone-cold sober by the way).

I wish this is where the dissatisfaction ended... More than an hour after returning home, my friend who stayed at the bar called me and told me that they were trying to charge him for the beers that I already paid for. I almost had to go all the way back down to show my receipt and yell at them. Finally the management realized I was not bluffing and they let my friend leave.

Are you looking for a mediocre dive bar with bad service that may try to use their muscle to cheat you? Then this is the bar for you...

    O'Hara's.  Maloney's.

Whatever the name is, Tuesday night Pint Night's the staple.  I've been here twice, three times?  I don't even know.  Either way, it'll only increase.

To be honest, I don't really care for this place.  It's dim as hell, crowded with people who do not know how to MOVE, and it can be hard to flag down a bartender for your $4 liter of Coors Light.

There are lines, which is kind of annoying.  Sometimes there's a line to get in and it's not crowded at all.  Other times, there's no line and it's overcrowded.  Do not understand.

This place is cool for playing quarters.  But since I suck at the game, I don't particularly care for it (joking), still doesn't make my opinion of Ohara's/Maloney's any better.  Unfortunately, I just found out that they removed the tables so you can't even play quarters anymore.  Sad day.

Other than that, $4 for a liter of beer is nice.  But that's kinda it for Maloney's.  Yes, MALONEY'S and NOT O'Hara's.

This place is a college bar - sports playing on tv's - skinny hot sorority girls with frat guys preying on their victims.  In other words, pretty fun.  Sure you can get your date rape on if that's your thing.

Last night I went, one of several time I've been, and it was packed on a Thursday.  More girls than guys and I got to watch the end of the Celtics/Bulls game before the show next door at The Improv Space.  I ordered a vodka on the rocks and it came in a huge glass filled with vodka for $12.  I tipped three and stumbled my way over to the show.  Pretty good night.

Oh, Maloney's, how you have enriched my senior year at UCLA. Thank you for giving me the college experience of a college-town dive bar with sleazy guys and gals getting too drunk for anyone's good and for the creepers that just don't belong there. I've spent many a Pint Nite and Friday Night here with any one of my sensible girlfriends just catching up and gawking at the spectacles around us. Don't get me wrong - Maloney's is basically a sure-fire way to have fun on any given night of the week and every girl is guaranteed to get hit on by at least one creeper who doesn't even go to UCLA (what are they doing there anyway?).

This joint is definitely a dive bar with its mixture of multiple TV screens that run various sports highlights, bros stuffed in around you like sardines, insufficient lighting (so you can't see that you're dancing with your TA from your PhySci class), and loud music (which is usually a toss up between AT40 hits or retro 80s tracks). Also, beware of the lure of Tuesday Night's Pint Nite - you'll more than likely be stuck waiting in line outside as if it's some Hollywood night club - and it's true that it's barely even full when you make it inside.

Bottom line: I think it has a decent selection of beer and a definite promise of entertainment whether you're shootin' the shit with some rando who stumbles your way or just gawking at the frattiness going on around you.

Maloneys is a dark and dismal spot. Maybe that's because I always associate it with day-drinking...

Whatever, I still love to go here. Pint nights are awesome. There are always creepy guys around buying girls drinks...in other words, this bar is a pretty standard place.

Maloneys, sorry it changed to Oharas and it will never be Oharas to me, got me through law school.  The end.

I had to find a place where the tunes played loud and drinks were cheap to drown out the voices of my law professors and the fact that I had switched to the other side of the tracks.  I was a Trojan in Westwood, but this Trojan found kindred spirits at Maloneys.

They have an awesome and interesting book collection for excellent drunken photo taking.  This is a Dive Bar, don't get it twisted.  Order well drinks and I probably wouldn't eat here. Do not come here for an elegant experience unless you have just turned 21, but if you are quite a bit older, then come for the nostalgia and to watch the youth in the mating season.  Also drink a lot, the bathroom is not up to KT's seal of approval even despite the renovations.  I think it's the extracurricular activities and the  faint smell of vomit.  It's all part of the drippy dive experience, folks!

I have always had a theory, always have a friend who drinks a lot and acts a fool, so you always fly under the radar no matter how foolish you act.  Maloneys is this friend in bar form.  My law school buds and I still meet here to reminisce about when life was simpler and billable hours did not exist.

If you come here on any national days of drinking (read: St. Patrick's Day, Cinco de Mayo, etc.) come early to ensure a seat.

P.S. They do a power-trip thing by always keeping a line even when it's near empty inside.  Ugh.  Stop it.  Still it's cheap drinks, good tunes, and let the drunken times ensue.

This is the quintessential college bar with terrible service. Definitely a dive bar that tries to be a club. Biggest pet peeve? Unnecessary lines when they aren't even at capacity.  Unless you are a football player, with a football player, or know the bouncers, you will wait in line. I generally avoid Maloney's and only stop in when I'm dragged there by friends. Sorry--I'm one of those people who cut, but let's be honest, who really cares enough to wait more than 15 min to get into Maloney's?!  I'd much rather leap over to Brew Co, which has much nicer and attentive bartenders, stronger drinks, and a half decent beer selection (but that's for another review).

Also, wayyyy too loud. More of the place to see people and get drunk instead of a place to have a convo. I think I've contracted laryngitis on multiple occasions from trying to yell above the noise. Needless to say, I lost that battle.

The one thing Maloney's has going for them is a beyond cheap happy hour from 3-9pm, I believe  $1 cheese pizzas, $3 pints of any beer on tap, and $5 burger and fries.  During this time, Maloney's isn't half bad and for that, I give them 2 stars.

    SHORT STORY:

    Pint Night (Tuesdays)
    - $2 Miller Lite pints
    - $4 Miller Lite liters
The latter option is wayy worth it.

    LONGER STORY:

My friends and I got here around 9:30 on Tuesday night. Maloney's wasn't quite full yet, but the night was just getting started. We arranged the tables to fit our group of 10, and everyone ordered their own liter. I'm not sure if it's just my girl friends or me, but either they can't drink (and get superrr buzzed from one liter), or I have a much higher tolerance than they do (it's probably the former).

Once it hits around 10:30/11ish, it gets pretty loud and pretty full. It's pretty fun though, especially when the music gets going. No dance floor, but we make do :]

This is your typical, annoying college bar. Honestly, this place is a dump. I like bars a lot but this place is ridiculous. There's a line to get into their famous pint night, and once you're inside it's just chaos. It's not chill or anything. There are a bunch of college idiots running around inside acting a fool.

There's usually music playing loud so people can have an excuse to be rowdy. The bartenders take forever and there's so much spilled beer in this place it wreaks!!!

I wish I could be nicer about my undergrad's go-to bar, but give me a break. Not to mention there are A LOT of people who don't even go to UCLA but creep around this bar (i.e. older, nasty guys & grads who still don't have a life). I would not waste your time at this place!

O'Hara's (or Maloney's, whatever) is your typical college dive bar, except it's kinda boring.  I give them 3 stars for super cheap food.

$1 for a full cheese pizza.. what?!! Yeah, it's on a cracker crust, no it's not amazing...but it's ONE DOLLAR.  I mean...as a poor grad student, that is a pretty freaking good deal. They also have a $5 cheeseburger & fries combo that tastes decent, maybe about the same quality as a Barney's $5 burger.

They have some pretty good drink specials, though beer and liquor selection is very limited.  Not really a fan of their mixed drinks, so I'd stick with beer here.  This place is really empty most nights, except late on Tuesday nights and on weekends - then it gets uncomfortably crowded.  There is often a line out the back on weekends, which doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me because O'Hara's is pretty much just a sh*tty bar, so why wait in line to get in... lol, to each his own I guess.

Overall, the only reasons I come here are for the cheap food, convenient location, and to watch a game when Barney's is too crowded or charging cover.  In short, O'Hara's is A-OK (before 10pm).

    Dear Maloney's,

I want you to know that you have made my college experience infinitely better just for being the way you are. I know I only became acquainted with you my senior year at UCLA, but we're so connected I feel as if we must've known each other in another lifetime. And I'm positive it was Descartes or Nietzsche or someone really profound and deep who said "the most life-changing relationships are made when you're 21 and drunk during your senior year at a sketchy bar on a Thursday night". Philosophers are always so right about these things.

Sure, your misleading "Pint Night" consists only of Budweiser and Corona, but it's OK. I understand that it doesn't matter, because most people spill half their drinks or forget they bought it anyway. And yes, you did ignore me the 5 gigabillionhertz times when I requested "Got Money" by lil' Wayne and every single time you would play "A Milli" instead. But I forgive you, rap songs can be hard to discern at times, even for an incompetent, amateur DJ that you have. You made up for it by being just the right amount of dim, blurry, greasy comfort, with mediocre long islands for only $7 that soon made me forget these trivial matters.

You are so much better than Brew Co, you have the perfect decibel of loud, techno-wannabe music blasting so that I feel as if I'm almost going deaf but not quite, and I cannot possibly have a normal conversation without screaming. That way, I can't hear myself think. Which is all the better after a week of hard work on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights. And Monday nights. and Tuesday nights as well. Also, thank you for all those nights when you made me wait outside in ridiculously long lines in the freezing cold. You built my endurance up, I know you were only trying to make me stronger. Always watching out for my health, you located yourself so close to Taco Bell and Buck Fitty, making sure I had enough oil-drenched carbs in my stomach to soak up the alcohol at 2AM so that I don't wake up with hangovers. Only you would be so caring and considerate...

You taught me that the range of sleaziness can vary in degrees I never could even have imagined, showing me how valuable lessons can be learned even my brain cells are dying. I developed enhanced physical stealthiness from acrobatically maneuvering between drunk college students to reach the bartender, and I know this survival skill will come in handy later in life. And don't worry, I will never refer to you by that not-to-be-spoken name O'H***'s, even though all the bouncers wear it on their shirts. Maloney's rolls of the tongue and sounds so much seedier, just the way you'll always be remembered in my heart.

You exposed me so many new experiences. Like how it feels to be rejected from a "faux-private party" with a "faux-dance floor" and how it feels to be "faux friends" with the bouncer. I established so many meaningful relationships here, especially all the people I will never recognize in full daylight, or probably even if I saw them at Maloney's again.

Oh, Maloney's (sighs). It'll have been a year since I last corresponded with you. Maybe even longer. I lose track of time when you're not around. I'm so ashamed, I feel like I just used you and threw you away. Please don't be hurt. I may come back to you but I'm not in college anymore now and it would just be embarrassing. I want you to know that I'm grateful for everything you've done, and that it's only because of all the wonderful memories you've given me, that I might be able to get through difficult and strenuous times. I don't know what I would have done without you.  Don't ever change.

    - Your loyal friend and patron who will never betray you by going to Brew Co, unless it's a slow night or when your faux-dance floor is closed

I miss student life and living in Westwood.  Even when I did live there a few years ago, I didn't go to Maloney's, I mean O'Hara's, that much.  I thought it was smelly and the crowd was weird.

A friend was in town and wanted to meet up here, so I found parking right on Weyburn/Gayley (yay, paid parking ends at 8pm) and walked in.  On a Tuesday night at around 9:30pm, the place was empty.  People were just sitting around having a drink, and/or a conversation, and/or watching the games on tv.  It wasn't smelly.  I had a $2 beer (wow) and was having great conversation with my friend as we caught up.  I was thinking that I liked the place now.  I was wrong.

They turned the music up once.  They turned it up again.  They turned it up 3 times total!!!  The lights went down.  Are you doing this so we can't talk to each other and so must just drink more?!

    We decided to leave.

Next time I will demand that we go to BrewCo, Barney's, or Palomino!

I still dont know why they changed the name.  it will forever be Maloney's.

i see a lot of people have already said it, but this really is your run-of-the-mill college bar.  look to stand in line on the busy thursday and friday nights.  it gets crowded with the usual college kids. if you like that sorta thing, go for it.  dont expect anything fancy shmancy.  its dimly lit, and fill of drunk college people drinking away.  they have your typical bar music and that people sing along to.  Its one of the few bars in westwood, and this is a popluar one cuz its the closest to campus.  A lot of Frat and sorority people here, so some say it might seem a little douchy.

I came here all the time with a group of friends.   the drinks are ok i guess.  sometimes its tough to get the attention of the bartender.

if you want the college bar life experience, this is the place to be.

As a student, I came here on a monthly basis on what was formerly known as Maloney's. A lot of the original stuff are still here, like the old paraphenilia on the walls, but coming in here tonight as O'Hara's wasn't the same as it used to be.

When you walk in, you get that smell like a wet-dog or wet-carpet smell. Kinda weird and just a bit off. Very dark and the only lighting available was from the many tv's.

I ordered the Stella, but it was questionable. Tasted like Bud Light. Just wanted to confirm with the bartender on the beer and he said it was a Stella. Hmmmm. Interesting, but couldn't prove it. Oh well, I'll flush out the bad drink and go somewhere else.

What in the world did I just step into?  A drunken college party on a Tuesday night at an actual establishment... I think there's a reason why I never tried this place, and now that I have, I don't plan on coming back.

This bar is pretty much for anyone that wants to hook up with a random stranger while being squeezed by hot, sweaty undergraduates from the best public university out there (okay, that doesn't sound too bad).  But this place had a few points that I wasn't particularly feeling: loud, dark, and way overcrowded.

Luckily my friend was tall and was able to wave down the bartender for some Irish Car Bombs.  Yeah, they definitely weren't bad, but the whole atmosphere inside was just too much for me to really enjoy it.  None of us could find any seats, and we couldn't even find people we recognized.  We decided to bounce quickly after and head to In N Out because we could barely breathe inside...

I only stepped into the restroom once before walking out... it's quite a show inside to say the least.  This is definitely a place for college students.  If you don't fit that description, I say go for the other bars in Westwood (or you can come in and relive the good ol' days).

Okay, so let me break this down.  Back in the good ole days this tavern was known as Maloney's and I refuse to call it by any other name even today.  That said...

Maloney's isn't a "I'm just around town and looking for a bar to have some drinks" place, this is an "I'm a UCLA student and want to go to a place where I'll recognize half the people here from classes, frat parties, and similar encounters."

The line outside is stupid long on Thursday nights so unless you want to spend two hours waiting in the cold, suck up your pride and get there no later than 10.

I have had some amazing nights here and some mediocre nights here.  I probably won't find myself here too often now that my UCLA days have passed me by, but Maloney's will forever have a spot in my heart.

    Ehhhhhh...

It's not quite a dive bar, at least not when you factor in prices.  I came here on the 4th of July when it was the only bar open in Westwood, and returned yesterday when my brother came to town.

The big perk for J is that they have these giant mugs of beer.  But like others have said, they may have a bit of a funky taste to them due to improper washing.  My brother liked that they had some more craft brews.  I was going to take it easy and get a shirley temple though the waitress got me to order it "dirty."  Bad idea - tasted like a liquid jello shot.  For our three drinks (one big-ass beer, one craft beer, one dirty Shirley) our tab came to $20.

The crowd is kinda lame...  sports fans who get mad at outcomes and blame us Jews on the losses (no joke)... and even on a Friday night it didn't seem nearly as full as BrewCo or Palomino.

If it weren't for the multiple large screen televisions, friendly bartenders, and its location the Stinky Foot, as my co-workers and I so affectionately call it, would be a complete waste of corner space.

If there is a game on, the place surprisingly livens up and isn't a terrible choice to grab some grub and a pint.  Just don't expect to have fun once the sporting event is over...

There's definitely two different sides to this place. Overall, it's tolerable before 10pm, and the bartenders are nice people who are genuinely pretty friendly.

Before 10, Maloney's (excuse me...O'Hara's) is an average sports bar. On a regular day it's pretty quiet so you can come in, grab a beer, and watch a game no problem. Drinks are average price too for LA, so you don't feel you're getting swindled. Decor is nice to look at, and everything looks pretty well kept. I also like the bar-in-the-center look as opposed to off on the side somewhere.

Once it hits 10 o'clock though, it becomes a whole new place. Lights shut off, music goes from a dull roar to mind-numbingly loud levels, and about 100 people come in all of a sudden for a dance party. You can't see, you can't hear anyone trying to talk to you. And, you know, that's not my thing. Not my crowd. Not only that, but it becomes way too hard to get any more drinks. Booooo

And one last gripe: the specials there are not nearly as good as Brew Co's

It's a typical college bar. Some reviews call it a dive. Maybe I've been to some extreme dives, but this place was too well kept to be considered a dive to me.... Anyways...

It's a cool casual place for guys and girls to chill, drink some beer, watch the game. It seems to be mostly the local college crowd, maybe a little bit older. I've only been here on a Saturday late night, and the music is pumped up real loud and it gets pretty crowded. It's not bad, but it's hard to hold any conversation inside, and you can't really hear anything that's playing on on the multiple tvs.

    Maloneys--

Typical College Dive Bar. Security stinks--they need to really lighten up, look we all know it must be a shit job to monitor college kids--but hey, no need to walk around with a stick up ur arses! Inside, drinks are pretty standard, cheap. If you like sports you might like it here--i dont so i found it pretty boring.

They have a dance floor but the dj is a total prick and wouldnt change the music after polite asking. Seems like everyone has a stick up their butts at this joint! Boo for Maloneys! Bring back the old management!

I understand what this place is, and I get it.  I also think there is far better in LA.  But as a student, it must do.  Decent drinks at a decent price
Definitely a place to go for a group of 3 and under.  Any more and it is just too dark, loud, and crowded.

    I will defend this bar.

    Cheap drinks.
    Good bar food. (underrated imo)
Great place to watch a game.
College Bar Atmosphere. (that's what it is)

Anyone that complains about O'Hara's/Maloney's (there was never a change in ownership just in licensing fees) obviously has a hard time taking things for what they are. I don't think it attempts to be anything that it is not. The lines are long because there are over 10,000 students at UCLA over the age of 21, go early, the evil evil bouncers tend to cater to the 100 or so regulars that go there 3-5 nights a week.

So if you'd like to revisit your undergrad in a sloppy 'has been' kinda fashion, or even if you want to watch an off sporting event such as a Champions League match that is on FSC or Sky Sports then you will enjoy this fine establishment for what it is.

This is a small bar located in Westwood at Gayley and Weyburn, right by Coffeebean and Gushi's. There is a private parking lot you can find parking at. I believe there is a small fee. You can also pay a $3 flat fee after 6pm at the parking structure on Bronxton and Weyburn, across from CPK.

Many UCLA students frequent this bar, especially on Thursdays, "the" party night. I went here when it was still called Maloneys. Cocktails are about $8-10. I'm not quite a fan. It's kind of dingy and mellow. And DJ? What DJ?

O'Haras' is the more notorious of Westwood's horrible selection of two bars (the other being BrewCo).

Personally, I don't think it's all that bad of a place.  For one, it's far cleaner than it used to be back in the day.  There are ample TV screens for watching sports, and the atmosphere is really laid back after work, but has enough people to make it feel like the world is alive.

For UCLA employees like myself, there's no better deal on a Friday night than downing a 33 oz draft beer for only $7 with other University colleagues.

College bar with lots of frats, athletes (football, soccer, and baseball), and a lot of people who don't even go to UCLA. All of the above consists of guys just looking to hook up, and don't get me wrong, a lot of girls in the above category want to do the same thing. A lot of the girls that come here look like they really should be clubbin' (makin love in this club) in Hollywood.
I prefer a more low key spot like Brew Co. (which is down the street and around the corner) because the crowd there is a lot more chill. I'm a junior and I feel too old for this place. This is definitely an undergrad hangout.

BUT, O'hara's is the closest bar to campus and to most college student residences. This is probably the only reason it fills up and gets a line. I recommend getting there early on Thursdays, otherwise the bouncers go on a power trip and don't allow entire groups of girls or guys to go in. They'll say "Ok, you plus two"...which sucks, because there is always at least one more person with the group.

Bartenders are whatever, but they definitely get busy.

The walls are lined with TVs, books, and artist glam shots.

So why do I occasionally come to this hotbed of hormones?
This bar is (1) close to my apartment and (2) chill, in the sense that there are huge tables for large groups to just sit and talk over some drinks. Which means that I treat it as a mere setting for huge groups of cool friends. Whenever you're in a huge group of cool friends, you can really be anywhere and have fun. O'hara's is just a convenient setting for this.

Note: There is no dancefloor. And, unless you already live in Westwood, parking will probably be terrible, unless you park in their lot. However, I recommend parking on Broxton (which will immediately put you closer to Brew Co. and Palomino's...go there, instead. Haha)

This is the typical college bar.  Lots of TVs, lots of frat guys, and lots of spilled drinks.  It may have changed its name from Maloney's, but its still the same place.

BrewCo is much better, and its not even that great...

This place is miserable unless you go to UCLA.  I don't, so I hate it.

The music is so loud you can't hear the person next to you.  The patrons bowl you over multiple times a night (whether its to go barf in the bathroom or hug a newly arriving BFF!!).  The bouncers give preferential treatment to athletes (who I couldn't pick out of a line up, every college needs their idols I guess).

I will say that the bar has nice pub/moody decor but that really doesn't matter when you consider all the other problems.  Avoid this one if you want to enjoy yourself.

So O'Hara's is the new Maloney's....
same bar, same douche athletes, same wannabe hard asses, same review:

    "YAAHHH BRAAAAAH"
    "THAT WAS SWEEET DUDEE"

Are just a few things you will hear at O'Hara's as you are trying to forcibly make your way to the bar. A typical college bar with your standard wanna be 'alpha males" and athletes.
The liter of beer is priced well, around 7 dollars, and there are nice television screens around the bar with sportscenter on.

Its usually overcrowded and the line compares to clubs in Hollywood or Sunset blvd.

Never have i seen so many popped collars in my life..."EPIC"

This place is a total dive college bar in the heart of UCLA's frat row, adjacent to the Whole Foods parking lot.

Had one of the silliest, funnest nights EVER here. Still smile thinking about it. It might have helped that we were in halloween costumes, slightly drunk and thought we were back in high school sneaking into a college club with the "bad" high school boys. Nothing like Halloween to turn full grown women into giddy, giggling high school girls with crushes on the bad boys...
