I've been to this bar many times. Â Mostly to play darts with the KCCDA dart leagues and last week was no exception. Â The bar is pleasant enough. Â Mostly, younger people, but, occasionally there will be a mix of ages, etc. Â This is the bar you go to, to watch popular TV shows or sporting events. Â They have a grill but I have not tried the food yet. Â When we were here, the bartender came out to our table several times to check on us and refill us and I appreciated that. Â This is more of a neighborhood bar and not fancy but it's not a dive either. Â It's clean and fun looking. Â Â It's nice to have a bar like this where a person can socialize or watch a special TV show or sporting event with a group of people or play some darts.
Review Source:For being a gay dude, I certainly don't go to gay bars very often. But when I'm in KC, if I'm going to head to a gay bar, it should probably be Outabounds.
This place really is more of a neighborhood bar then it is any sort of club or cocktail bar. Normally when I go out I drink either fancy cocktails or straight scotch, but here I'm ok drinking PBR directly out of a mini pitcher. When in Rome, you know?
People will mostly be either watching a ballgame... or The Voice. I mean, it IS a gay bar. The crowd has a much larger range than many of the other bars/clubs. You have hot young thangs, jocks, and creepy old dudes. All are intermixing with relatively little hassle.
What I really like about this place is the wide variety of activities. OK, i'm not a fan of bar poker, but I guess it's good that they have it. But they have plenty of dart boards, a pool table, and other random games. I will KICK! YOUR! ASS! at Silver Strike Bowling. They also do karaoke. I have to be pretty wasted for that. Â
Basically, this is just a chill neighborhood bar, but you might see dudes kissing each other. I like this place just fine.
Outabounds is a nice little "hang out" bar. Â The ownership recently changed and some improvements have been made. Â The Menu was overhauled and everything I've tried so far has been great. Â I really think they are trying to get this back to being mainly a SPORTS BAR. Â They have free poker on Thursday nights and the drinks are always priced well. Â
A new addition i noticed this week was that they brought in NTN Trivia. Â I was HOOKED, didn't even realize I had been there two hours until it was time to go.
The bartenders are always nice to you and the service is pretty good. Â I would definitely recommend this bar & grill to someone looking for a bite to eat, or even a late night drink or two.
We have been here several times. A great place to stop in for a quick bite if you are heading to the Uptown for a show. It is right across the street and has good drinks and ok food.
The staff is always friendly and they even remember you, even if you haven't been in for awhile. I have gone for Birthday parties and it is a blast.
Food seems to be frozen and cooked on site. Which is ok for bar good I guess, I just happen to like fresh made when you ask for it food rather than take out of freezer and throw on the grill.
The drinks are super cheap and I have always had a good bartender. A lot of people classify it as is a gay bar but they are open to anyone and everyone coming in. They don't judge you they just welcome you.
This bar is now one of my favorite hangouts. Â It's the kind of place you can go and not be stared at by creepy men when you're with your girlfriend. Â It's also the kind of bar where there's all kinds of gay people but little drama. Â For those of you in the community, I think you know what I mean! Â
Chiefs game days are always fun at Out A Bounds. Â They usually pass out free shots when a touchdown is made. Â There are plenty of TVs here, and the bar staff are always willing to change the channel if a game you want to see is on. Â I never have to wait very long to be served a drink here either. Â Beer is decently priced and they aren't stingy with their mixed drinks.
The food leaves a bit to be desired, as it is simple bar food. Â There aren't a lot of vegetarian options available either. Â However, the atmosphere here is such that you don't really care so much about the food because you'll likely be having a good time. Â There is always something going on here from karaoke, trivia, or Texas Hold 'Em. Â
This is the kind of place you can go and have a few drinks, relax, and watch a game without any problems. Â I like that.
I know I just reviewed this yesterday and gave it 4 stars, but I went last night and the experience was 2 star at best, so I'll revise this to an average of 3.
The experience was annoying instead of need-a-drink-after-work relaxing. The bartender on duty gave us gin instead of vodka, took over 15 minutes to make my 2nd cocktail which I finally just had to cancel so I could hightail my ass Out A There.
When driving through Midtown, Outabounds is EASY to miss. Â Don't let that fool you though. Â When you get inside you will find a quaint and friendly bar. Â It's one of the few bars I actually enjoy sitting at the bar. Â The bartenders are all nice and when you sit at the bar, you get fast service with a sense of humor and a smile.
The bar has the cheapest drinks in town and these drinks are GOOD. Â These are not drinks for beginners! Â Even the food is good and priced well. This is a great place to start out a Friday or Saturday evening -- get your drink on here and save yourself some money at other more expensive bars later in the evening. Â On Sunday, when most bars are closed or very tame, Outabounds is packed. People are there to party and they mean business.
In short, if you are looking for good drinks with good friends and you want to have a good time -- head to Outabounds. Â It's a great place that is easy on your wallet. Â Only got $10 to spare, you're in luck -- that'll get you a well cranberry vodka and something to eat off the menu and leave you a buck or two for a tip!
