Hi Dive Lounge

This is a fun bar.  I was hoping for more of a "dive" than what it actually is, but it's fun, cool and tasty.

I don't think Hi-Dive warrants the "divey" classification. In my opinion, it isn't divey at all.  It's too "pretty" to be divey.  The place is really nice looking with an open feeling.  

Regardless, Hi-Dive does have a good BLT.  Even though the bread could be a bit less oily, the bacon is cooked well and the pesto mayo is a nice compliment.  The fries were some of the best I have had.  They were perfectly cooked, crispy and seasoned well.  Yum!  

Now as to the dive part of the description of the bar.  To me, dive bar means cheap.  Hi-Dive's prices are not cheap.  At least not for beer which I assume runs equal to the hard liquor.  

Would I go back?  Definitely.  I appreciated the TV's to watch sports but I don't think they're intrusive.  They are there for the ones who want to watch sports.  If you don't, there is seating without having a TV in your face.  Because I like to watch sports I would go back to try the apps, have cheaper beer out of the old style soda machine and kick back.

Since this place is new, looked interesting, and is "within staggering distance" of where I live I had to go there. And I will be back again, just not immediately or all the time.

The atmosphere was cozy, the service attentive, and the appetizers (didn't order dinner this time around) quite tasty. The drinks were also reasonably priced all things considered.

This place really did remind me of a smaller version of Beer Kitchen. Nothing wrong with that -- I like Beer Kitchen -- but not really what I was hoping to find. I guess the whole "dive" part of the name led me to believe otherwise. I wouldn't say the prices are unreasonable for what you get, however I was hoping to have a new place where you can order a few beers and a couple of cheap appetizers without spending $50+.
