Mike Kelley's Westsider

Had never been inside until I started working in the neighborhood recently.  A. Mazing food!  The burger is one of the very best in town!  And home made fries (regular or sweet) complete the meal.  I'd love to see them do some more creative specials, but the menu itself is a great bar menu.  Oh...and lest I forget...Mike's ruben would give the Peanut's ruben a fight worth watching!  DELISH!

Okay for drinks, but the food is way good. The reuben sandwich is one of the best in town. Good burgers too, made from scratch. Tasty fries. Decent prices. Try it and see for yourself.

It was Friday and my husband was craving a fish fry (lent). Since Kansas city isn't famous for fish fries he consulted Siri (stupid). She suggested on multiple searches that the Westsider was the place to go. We knew of the place, but thought hey maybe this Irish dive bar is the perfect sleeper Friday night fish fry place, why not?  Well it isn't. The fish is obviously mrs. Paul's or Gortens frozen from the grocery store.  The fries (chips) are pretty good. But the fry oil probably hasn't been changed in a while due to the very deep brown color of the fish and potatoes. Cole slaw was ordinary (not good). So yeah do not listen to Siri. How much do you have to pay to come up first on those searches anyway?  The boulevard wheat beer might need it pipes cleaned too. (funky taste)
