Based on other Yelp reviews, this place totally exceeded my expectations! After my experience last night, I am shocked to see ratings this low!

    Food:

There were plenty of good-for-you (vegetarian/vegan and supposedly organic) options to choose from. But, even my meat-loving boyfriend had rave reviews about this place.

-Soup of the day (Moroccan lentil): Very flavorful (the right balance of curry), with a nice texture (lentils were still fully intact) and ingredients. Served a bunch of tasty flatbread crackers.

-Fish tacos: Excellent!!! Your choice of flour or corn tortilla, we opted for flour. The fish was moist and well-seasoned, as were the accompanying veggies. Some of the best fish tacos I've ever had.

-Veggie hash (special of the night): Hash is misleading. This was more like a stir-fry/saute (is there a difference between these two?) that featured swiss chard but included lots of good, colorful veggies. While I can't say this was exploding with flavor, it was still pretty good and very healthy! It was served with brown rice. Tofu, chicken, or salmon were additional options, but I kept things simple and light.

-Chocolate mousse: Shooter-style. Good, but not sure you can mess up chocolate mousse (especially when dolloped with whipped cream).

-Vegan raspberry chocolate bar: Like a crumble bar. The raspberry filling tastes good, but isn't real whole raspberries. I like the addition of the chocolate chips. It wasn't too sweet, but enough to satisfy my sweet tooth and not feel terribly guilty.

    Wine:

Don't know anything about wine other than I enjoy drinking it. Seemed to have a decent selection (after all they do consider themselves a "wine cafe"). I tried 2 red wines, which were both nice and smooth.

    Service:

The entire staff was friendly. Our waitress was great. I wanted wine, but I am on the complete opposite end of the spectrum from a sommelier and can hardly articulate what I like to drink aside from red versus white. She described some of the more popular red wines to me and even brought me samples of a couple, both of which I liked very much with good price points ($7/8).

    Atmosphere:

During prime dinner hour on a Saturday, there were plenty of seats available. In our late 20s, we were quite obviously below the average age of the diners this evening. No surprise considering it's location in the Galleria rather than, let's say, Uptown.

Don't expect a super trendy atmosphere. It's no where close to as cute and cozy as French Meadows. It looks like a hybrid between an order-at-the-counter cafe and a full-blown restaurant. It lacks flair and is someone stark, but at the same there was some warmth to it (maybe the candles gave this effect).

    Price:

    Very fair!

My girlfriend and I have been here twice now and both experiences were under par. First trip was coffee to go witch tasted like burnt coffee it was supposed to be a salted Carmel latte but the salted Carmel taste was no where to be found. Trip 2 we went for coffee and desert after being seated at the worst table in the establishment we waited for about 10 min for our server. All the while four employees were standing around as we waited. We got up and made an exit. I guess you have to order all courses to get service here. Thanks for the warm welcome galleria we will not be returning.

I think this place is pretty good....so I'm a fan. It's an extremely lively place during the weekend morning hours and well into the afternoon. In the morning/afternoon you order at the counter, take a number, and go find a seat to wait for them to bring your meal out. At night, it switches to table service which seems like a nice touch.

I'm a huge fan of the People's Breakfast Croissant. It comes with eggs, bacon, tomatoes, guacamole and gruyere cheese on a buttery delicious croissant that's baked in house. Sounds pretty good, huh? The combination of them all made for a slightly tangy, smooth, and creamy sandwich once you have a bite. The side potatoes that it come with are also very good, but the star of the show is the breakfast sandwich. I would eat it everyday if I could.

I also got the iced salted caramel latte with hemp milk and it was a great pick me up that tasted delicious with the alternative dairy choice. I'd recommend getting it with hemp milk. That is if you like it. The server behind the counter said that his mom likes it, so I went with it and it turns out his mother and I have similar tastes.

Overall it's a great place to grab a fresh bite to eat if your in the galleria or looking for another option in Edina. They also have a decent variety of local tap beer for being a smaller restaurant so if you need a brew, you're in luck.

I'd recommend it to people and will be returning.

Went to Peoples Organic last night during our continuing Minnesota snow storm to seek refuge and a good meal.  Once again they came through with flying colors and didn't fail to impress.

If you are looking for incredible locally-sourced food, a wonderful atmosphere, good prices . . .   the whole package . . .   this should be on the top of your list.

Rachel has now been our server for several visits. She is amazing! We always get a warm and genuine greeting; she is very attentive to our needs; and she makes us feel truly welcome.  Kudos to her.

Don't change a thing.  You guys are great!

Love the concept of this place but food is just average.  Tried the veg-burger for lunch.  Liked the flavor but not a fan of the fall-a-part patty b/c it kept oozing out of the bun with every bite.  I ended up eating it open faced w/a knife and fork b/c it was too sloppy.  My co worker got the grass fed cheeseburger.  It was decent but didn't stand out.  We both could live w/o ever eating the cole slaw again.  The flavor was off and had a very creamy-milky texture, almost like it was drenched in generic ranch.  We did however, enjoy the coconut panna cotta.  In conclusion, I'd eat here again but it wouldn't be at the top of my list.

Mmmmm so good!  This place has so many great lunch food options, and being organic is a definite plus!  I had the chicken and goat cheese sandwich with a side of the tomato soup.  Both were super good.

The service was a little slow and hard to find a table, but I would definitely return!

Squash Curry Soup, with just a touch of heat.  Latte, served in a big tall glass. Overtly sweet Caramel Bar.  A comfortable tall table affording a break from window shopping the Galleria.  Not a bad way to spend an hour on a leisurely Sunday afternoon.

Stopped in after running some errands in the highfalutin Galleria in Edina. If you're hungry and want a quick, healthy bite then this guilt free place is just the spot for you. I ordered the, "Fresh Spreads" which included a generous helping of organic flatbread, baguettes, carrots, pea  pods, and two spreads: one cheese and one pepper. Delicious!

Friendly staff, ambient music, casual--lots of shoppers.

The menu is organized in a helpful manner--indicated whether items are vegetarian, vegan, or gluten-free, (obviously all organic.)

The prices are definitely on the mid-high end, but lets be real...you get what you pay for.  Healthy, organic, free-trade food.

They also sell their own loose-leaf tea!

I stopped in for a quick vanilla latte and I got a slow vanilla latte.  I saw the line but I figured it would only be about at 5 minute wait - just long enough to check my e-mail.  Unfortunately it took about 15 minutes to get through about 7ish people in front of me.  (I stayed because I was already committed after 5 and didn't feel like walking all the way to Starbucks.)

The latte was good but again nothing special.  I would get it again - hence the only reason for 3 stars instead of 2.

From the reviews below and my experience it seems like the managements priority should be to speed up the level of service.

Tonight we had super slow kitchen service, probably buried our order when the place started filling up.

I had biscuit & gravy which is not nearly as good as Bryant Lake Bowl's.  Other food in our party was just above mediocre.

Too bad. Good concept bad implementation.

maybe we came at an off time of day...
    or...
maybe the place is just a bit schizophrenic...
    but...
the whole experience was just a bit...
    odd...
on one hand it's a walk in, walk up coffee bar.
    yet...
turn and walk 10 feet and it's a bar...a wine bar.
    however...
if you stand at the counter to order something, they ask to seat you.
    i'm confused.
    and...
    i think they are too.
one girl said they could blend my iced drink...
    then...
the next one said they couldn't.
all of our drinks were fine...just fine...
    albeit...
    a bit spendy.
don't think any of it was really anything special.

I love. LOVE. that they offer a tap of sparkling water. They know their audience, and it is the kind of people who live in Edina and drink sparkling water. I will say pull the lever carefully and slowly as the water shoots out fast.

The food is always good, especially the zone omelet. The biscuits are also quite good. It is a great spot for mixed veg(an)etarian and carnivores.

The only drawback is that like its big brother in uptown --french meadow--  this space sometimes gets a little confused. It is a quasi coffee shop, but not really, so when people linger to read or study they always seem a little bit out of place. That said, its probably replaced Good Earth as the best healthy eating spot in the galleria/southdale corridor.

I so wanted to be able to give this place more than 3 stars, as I adore the concept. Fresh, local and sustainable food thoughtfully prepared will always get my attention, and the menu was so full of things that I wanted to eat that it took me awhile to decide. I went with the Peruvian Chicken Soup and a coffee. The coffee here is outta bounds, rich and delicious, and they hand you a warm coffee mug when you eat in, which is such a great touch that so many restaurants overlook. The food? Just OK. The broth was good, but the chicken was overcooked and dry, and the avocados weren't quite ripe. They gave me bread with my soup, which looked and smelled great, but was really dry. This artful and caring concept needs a little more skill in the kitchen.

I love the concept of this restaurant.  It's hard for me to find places like this in my travels that really care so very deeply for the ingredients they serve.  The menu is terrific and well thought through.  I had a really hard time figuring out what it is I should try first.

I ordered the greek salad and added chicken for $4.  Lettuce, sliced cucumber, chickpeas, olives, feta, pasta salad, roasted tomatoes and a nice dressing.  I thought it was really good.  They killed the chicken breast though.  It had good flavor although they could have marinated it in something or seasoned it at all.  They absolutely dried it out.  It was just barely edible.  I also ordered a cup of coffee and must say it was one of the best I have had in awhile.

Miriam had the Peruvian chicken soup for lunch and thought it was tasty.  I tried a piece of her bread and it was stale and dry.  Too bad, it was a nice looking piece of rustic Italian bread.  I can see why, without reading all the reviews, that it has 3 stars.  I think with some execution and care, they really could be a 4 star place.

There's no service here.  You walk up to the register, place your order and sit down to wait for your food.  I'm ok with it, you just can't expect table service of any kind thereafter.

I've been in search of a cozy, quiet-ish place where I can curl up in a big cushy chair with a book and a glass of wine. You know, like a coffee shop... but with wine. So when I saw the name of this place, I just had to drop in for a drink and see what it was all about.

When you walk in, it's kind of confusing. There's what looks like a deli/cafe counter, with prices and selections in a big menu overhead, but then there's also a sign that says that you should wait for the host to seat you. So which is it? Do you get seated, or do you go up and order? We waited for the host, and she just let us sit where we wanted.

The servers were efficient and really friendly, but they seemed a bit bewildered that we were just there to have a drink. The place has a full menu, which looks really good, but when you bill yourself as a "Coffee and Wine Cafe", you have to expect the occasional person to come in and just drink a glass of wine, right?

The atmosphere is very trendy, but not very comfortable. We found the only "comfy" chairs in the place; they looked like living room chairs around a little table, and they were pretty, but not really the kind of chairs you could sink into and spend an hour or two reading your book. The rest of the place is tables and chairs... just a restaurant, really.

    My search continues, I guess.

Nice and chic cafe. Too crowded and always busy. Their bread wasn't my favorite, too bland and no texture..

There were three in our party. Two ordered the pulled pork, one the egg salad sandwich. The other pulled pork was later switched to an egg salad after one bite. I still ate my, though it was a little odd in flavor. It tasted as though there were toasted pumpkin and other warm spices in it. The egg salad was well received, and there were positive comments on the bread. We may try a breakfast item, should we return. If you're seeking a more traditional pulled pork, don't get it here.  The black currant tea was wonderful!

Looks amazing and super richy.  However, the coffee/tea/hot chocolate is like star bucks.  Other than the organic label and the posh location, nothing really differentiates this place from any other chain coffee shop.  I think take your money to an independent run of the mill coffee place and support a local business.

The one good thing I could say about Peoples Organic Coffee & Wine Cafe is I tried it and had a Groupon for it. Unfortunately, there were too many negative things here that won't make me come back.

Service was very slow the entire evening. We had to ask twice for water. The prices were reasonable and the food was okay, but you'll leave still feeling hungry.

The kicker was two parents who wouldn't/couldn't control their kids from screaming and annoying everyone in the restaurant. I'm surprised the manager didn't say anything.

After a long time of waiting for our bill to arrive, I looked over at the bartender who had to ask me, "Did I give you your bill?" If you have to ask that, don't be surprised that your tip reflects the answer to your question.

Frankly, with all the places to eat at the Galleria and Southdale area, I'll be spending my money at an establishment that values my money and patronage, and where I leave feeling full.

If you are looking for a great breakfast / lunch spot this place is hard to beat. We have been there twice now and the food has been unique and delicious both times. And the that that it is Organic and local ingredients IS important to me unlike the other franchise factory food joint that is right by it. I have not been there for dinner but I would definitely try it. Prices are very reasonable as well.

I've eaten weekend brunch here, twice, and had great experiences both times. Coffee was good, carbonated water is a free option, and the breakfast dishes (egg/bacon/biscuit sandwich today, and an omelet, about a month ago), came out hot and with great roasted potatoes. My plate came out 5 minutes later than my dining partner's, but this is about the only complaint I have, aside from the restrooms being half a mall away and too little space around each small table (diners WILL have 1+ bags of loot from shopping in the mall).

I was shocked to discover this place is related to French Meadow, where I ALWAYS experience bigger complications with the service. I'll keep going back to People's Organic, whenever life takes me to that part of the metro.

Tried this suburban, new age spot recently for a week night dinner. Have to say wasn't exactly my cup of tea.

Geared more toward new-age, save the planet, vegetarian liberals. Odd that they chose to locate in Edina - perhaps uptown would have been a better fit.

I'm a dairy free person so I really appreciate restaurants and cafes that cater to my "kind". For breakfast, I decided to try the Hemp Seed bagel and subbed sun-dried tomato spread for the cream cheese. While I'm not sure what was in the spread, it made the bagel taste yummy!

Accompanying my bagel was a bowl of fresh fruit. I'm serious when I say fresh! It was a nice medley of strawberries, pineapple and lots of blueberries. There wasn't and melon at this party and that's just the way I like it!

My friend went for the Organic "Zone" Omelet. I didn't try the omelet but he was pleased. The little treasure with this menu item is the lightly fried potatoes it comes with. Those were something special.

Coffee was good and they had a nice variety of roasts from light (which was thick) to dark. Additionally, they had pure tap water and sparkling tab water on tap - self serve of course.

I brought my kids here on a Friday night at 6.  Service was slow-- as other reviewers have said, they seem understaffed for peak times.  The table next to me recommended that I go to the bakery counter and alert the staff that I was here.  When I did that, my waiter was quite good, and made sure my hungry kids were fed quickly.

I liked the appetizers very much, especially the sunflower seeds and cashews.  My son's grilled cheese sandwich (gruyere!) was delicious.  The salad dressing on my side salad was great, but I was disappointed by my veggie burger-- it was too mild and bland for my taste, and far too mushy.  I like a little falafel-like crunch to my burger.

Next time, I'd order a salad and come without the kids.  It's an ideal ladies' lunch place.   A little pricey for bringing the kiddos, and the tables are so close together that unless your children are on the sedate side, they will annoy the other customers.

I came here last week for an early solo dinner while doing some shopping. I looked at the menu & was a bit overwhelmed; it's pretty big. I picked the Rachel because I'm pretty sure it was the only sandwich made on sourdough bread (which for some reason was high on my list of criteria that day). I also got coleslaw on the side. I was given a glass for water & pleasantly surprised when I turned around to see they had both flat & sparkling water available.

I sat myself & a server brought my food out shortly after. I need to stop ordering coleslaw at restaurants, because when it doesn't taste like KFC's (don't judge) I get pissed. It may be really good for some people, but I didn't care for it. The Rachel was good; nothing better nor worse than I've ever had.

For some reason, I felt like $12 was too much for this experience.

However, with that being said, I'm sure I will come back & give Peoples another shot. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here (esp. since I live closer to French Meadow), but if I'm in Edina I can see myself coming back to try something else.

The food was awesome. The service was subpar. We were served our appetizer - edamame dumplings that were in a broth - with no plates or utensils. The girl who brought the food out asked us if we wanted a serving utensil. We asked for EATING utensils instead and then for small plates. My husbands fork had white stuff stuck to it so he asked the server to take it away. My son had a jelly sandwich and applesauce and I guess the restaurant's standard is to not give a spoon. When she put his plate down, I started looking for a spoon and then asked if the wrapped utensils had spoons. She asked me if I needed one. How does a four-year-old eat applesauce!?

My husband's beer order was messed up (he was brought the wrong type from the same maker) and my second one was messed up because I asked for the same one I just drank and she brought me what the same beer as my husband.

This place is a great concept and we really loved the food, but the service ruined it for us. Little things like utensils and listening better would have made our experience better.

If you plan on dining at Peoples Organic because you are a fan of French Meadow let me save you a trip. While many of the menu items resemble things you can get at French Meadow the comparisons stop there.

We were so disappointed in our food, both in the quality and the taste. What's the opposite of homemade? And I guess I get it now. If they were going to open a restaurant of the same caliber as the French Meadow, wouldn't they have just opened another French Meadow?  If French Meadow is Broadway, then Peoples Organic is Off-Broadway, WAY WAY off Broadway.

I love the concept of the place, and it provides a great atmosphere. I had the bison burger with melted provolone.  It came out medium rare, juicy, with a perfect combination between that satisfying biting into a good burger and that happy chew.  My complaint with the burger would be that it was lacking a zest, a bite, or acidity that would bring it from good to addictive.  I craved for some bleu cheese crumbles or arugula to bite into on the burger.  The bison was soo savory and the melted provolone so rich, it was rich savory over rich savory.

The dessert was a chocolate and espresso pana cotta.  Again it lacked the depth of flavor I was hoping to get.  Didn't taste the espresso, and it tasted more sugary than chocolately.

Overall, it was a good meal, great atmosphere, but the flavors were slightly lacking.

I love that Peoples Organic Coffee & Wine Cafe exists in the Galleria in Edina!  The soup and salads are fresh, organic and unique, I enjoy them each time I eat in.   My personal favorite place to go when I want a consistently good latte made with organically grown espresso beans is The Wedge Co-op in Mpls.  Living in Lakeville People's Organic is closer for me.
However, People's Organic  coffee bar is for the most part conscientious about the quality of their ingredients, they have been known to be inconsistent, just yesterday, I ate in and left with the mocha hemp... latte it had bits of coconut floating around in it, tasted like it was for surely missing the hemp and only had the coconut milk.  Did not enjoy it enough to finish it.  When will they improve their coffee bar, 75% of the time, the coffee bar is inconsistent even with special requests like ex-tra hot, no foam...

I discovered they are owned (due to yelp) by the same group that does French Meadow which means...they have my favorite soup; chicken and wild rice.

Spending almost all of February in the Minneapolis area for business while living in a hotel with no kitchen made it challenging to find delish, healthy, & fast options for food.  Peoples was a great find.

I had to give them -1 star as I was asking about the taste of several of their goodie items such as the lavender cupcake & other treats...no one had tasted any of the items...not good.  I am a big believer in asking your waiter or counter staff what their favorites are...not one person of 3 could give me any recommendation per soup, sandwich, or baked goods...I found this rather odd and quite different than the staff at French Meadow whom generally tend to be overly enthusiastic cheerleaders for their brand.

On the bright side they are new and have time to improve...I think.

If you are going to the Galleria, I think Good Earth is better than People's Organic.  The burgers were small, but juicy (bison & grass fed) & they didn't even have ketchup!  The wait was long & the people were totally confused!  $30 for two for lunch is $$, plus they didn't accept their groupon since it was between 11am-4pm! (Thanks for the fine print, groupon!)
It was nice that you could just order & sit, but we waited 25mins++ for 2 burgers & if you wanted refills, you had to wait in line again!
I like to support local and organic, so I will go back again.

So I came here for dinner only - and if I could, I'd give it 3.5 stars. What pushed it down half a star is that I think it's closer to A-OK than saying, "Yay! I'm a fan!"

I came here with 2 other adults and one child. I ordered a turkey bacon sandwich on ciabatta. My friends ordered a beet salad, some chicken wild rice soup, and a grilled cheese sandwich for the kid.

Overall, the sandwich was good, the bread was buttered and the whole sandwich was heated up nicely. The beets in the salad were pickled and fresh tasting. The soup seemed a little bland to me, but it wasn't cream-based and if I was expecting more salt, it was a welcome change from the usual overly salted soups of the world. The grilled cheese was done perfectly.

After we ate our dinners, I went back up to get a sea salt caramel latte and a Victoria Island bar (thin layer of chocolate over a layer of cream over a crunchy chocolate bar with walnuts and coconut in it). The dessert was good, although I wish the chocolate bottom layer was softer. The latte was not nearly as good as everyone else thought it was - but that's coming from someone who almost never orders lattes.

What brought it down from a 4 or 5 star rating, then, was the feel of the place. It felt like a confused concept. The menu was overly large, but there was a lot of reading to do if you really wanted to weigh your options. And since you order one or two at a time before sitting down, the line never really went away. Even when I went up to get the latte and dessert, choosing a moment when the line was at its shortest, I was still waiting for over 5 minutes.

But even if the line doesn't bug me, the use of space there felt like they were trying to do too much with not enough real estate. I think that if it was me, I'd expand the bar, take away the croissants, cookies, and soups, and offer more table service.

And while I applaud the effort, I guess that for a place with Organic in its name, I was hoping for more local and organic menu items - instead of just really expensive drink options and food items that are not really all that imaginative. Perhaps a situation where they change their menu options to reflect the changing seasons in Minnesota would make me believe they were actually organic, instead of just a more expensive Galleria version of French Meadow.

P & I were finishing up the last of the discount registry shopping today.   So we decided to have brunch at People's Organic.    We really enjoyed it.  First the coffee is amazing and we have always liked it even when going to French Meadow.

The menu is a smaller version of French Meadow with pastries.   I had the egg white omelet with rye toast.   Extremely filling P had to finish it for me.   P had the veggie croissant breakfast sandwich.   I know he really likes something when it is gone in less than 5 minutes.

We both agreed this is a place we will be returning to when we are shopping in the Galleria.   Prices are good and the food was great.

This is the new coffee/wine-bar venture from the creator of French Meadow and it's a definite step up for the suburbs. Located in the Galleria Mall, Peoples Cafe offers foods and drinks that you can't easily find outside of Minneapolis or St. Paul proper.

I came here twice and got to sample their breakfast and lunch offerings.

First, we tried both of their veggie burgers (both of which are vegan and cost $10 each). The "Peoples Best Veggie Burger II" is made with chickpeas and cashews and is easily the best veggie burger in the Twin Cities. It's savory, hearty and downright fresh and tasty. I especially liked the sunflower sprouts (they look like alfalfa sprouts on steroids) and the tomato tofu mayo, both of which were improvements on the normal song and dance of lettuce and tomato.

The Veggie Burger I was also good, but not nearly as good as II. I think the mushrooms, walnuts and lentils created a somewhat sour taste that grew on me with each passing bite, but still didn't match the great flavor of the II.

The home-made kettle chips that came with both burgers were awesome.

I'd love to see a seitan burger as well as a tofu patty breakfast sandwich, given that they do a tofu scramble as well.

On the second visit I had their tofu scramble ($10) which sounded great in theory, but was only decent in reality. This dish was suddenly yanked from the menu, though you can still order it by special request. I think the dish was under-salted and the spices they used ("Himalayan spices") didn't feel integrated in the dish. I liked the use of bell peppers but the best tofu scramble in the Twin Cities still belongs to Pizza Luce.

We also had a vegan raspberry bar ($3) and a pot of unusual oolong tea ($4.50). The raspberry bar was smooth and soft and much better than French Meadow's raspberry bar, which tends to be harder and more acidic. The tea was great, though, and the pot they give you is enormous (we got six cups total between the two of us), to say nothing of second steeps.

On the second visit I had an almond milk nutmeg steamer ($3.25) which was tasty, but super over-priced considering the quantity. For $3.25 you could get a full container of almond milk, or even two; here you got a tiny cup. Peoples has a wide variety of cool-sounding coffee drinks made with either hemp, coconut or almond milk (I can't think of any other place in the Twin Cities that offers such a variety of non-dairy milks). My friend enjoyed her coconut mocha which had actual pieces of shredded coconut in it---nice touch.

All in all, Peoples is a cool place. It's kind of a coffee shop, kind of a bar, and kind of a bistro, but it comes together fairly well and the service is friendly and knowledgeable. Best of all, to see the word "vegan" in the suburbs, with unusual and thoughtful foods, is always a pleasure and a step in the right direction. If Peoples had more vegan offerings and upped the quality on some of its dishes, I'd give it another star.

I don't know why I have such a different experience from everyone else below, but let me tell you why I thought People's Organic was amazing.

Wandering through the Galleria on a weekend before Xmas (wasn't as busy as you'd think, but a good amount of people) I didn't want to do just any old place for lunch.  I'd never see People's Organic before, so we strolled in for some lunch and were very impressed by the decor first.  The smell of soup broccoli cheese soup filled the air, and made my tummy rumble.

They've got an interesting way of ordering lunch.  Some pre-made meals that can be easily heated in an oven behind them, pressed on a panini iron, or served cold.  They also have a menu on the wall where you can order custom made sandwiches, etc.  I opted for the grilled tuna - I wish I remembered all the ingredients to make this at home myself, but it was divine!  Caramelized mushrooms, some sort of cheese, and I want to say there were sun-dried tomatoes in there too!

The staff at People's were very friendly and made good suggestions on dessert.  I came back the next day while some friends of mine went to a movie, and enjoyed the wine bar while doing my xmas cards.  Afterwards I pulled out my laptop and found they have a very strong wi-fi signal.  Love this place and will certainly return.

So I hate to dog out a new place... but I think there is some major room for improvement for this new Galleria eatery.  The organic concept that they have going is great if it was executed differently.  I stopped by for a quick coffee and salad to take with me to work.  The coffee was great, I would go back just for that. (Caramel sea salt latte... inventive and satisfying.)  The salad however, was quite the opposite.  When you think of an organic restaurant, you think quality, fresh, and flavorful ingredients, (Ok, so at least I do) , but the salad was most obviously prepared the day, if not two, before and the lettuce was wilted and turning brown.  The other ingredients were nothing to write home about either.

Major disappointment when you are paying the organic pricetag...

It's horribly cold in Minneapolis so we decided to stay in the Galleria area for dinner.  Crave was busy so we tried People's.

I think that this place has the potential to be decent but they seriously missed the mark on several things:
    1. The food in their already prepared foods counter display looks old and dingy - thanks for letting me know that you're just going to nuke my lasagna in the microwave... keep it in the back, it looks gross (it tasted less gross, but still...).
    2. We ordered wine. It was 9.50. There was, literally, 1 inch of wine in the glass until I complained and then there was 1.5 inches in the glass.  The glass was not oversized.  It was apparently 5oz.
    3. They were REALLY disorganized.  The "servers" didn't know what was going on and we had to ask for things more than once (e.g. water, utensils, pepper) on more than one occasion.
    4. The photos on the wall are just disturbing.  There are black and white photos of child labor, basically.  How is that promoting organic?

I hope that they've just not hit their stride yet.  I recognize that they've been open for a week, but I was disappointed enough to never try it again even though I stay in the Westin across the way.

There was a decent crowd in there and I hear that breakfast was really good... but I didn't eat breakfast and was totally unimpressed with dinner.
