Everything that I love from the Hell's Kitchen Craft Beer Mecca on the Upper East Side.  Now, if you're the type of person that's gonna balk at a $6 beer, are too afraid of trying a beer you've never had before, or gasp! you're a fan of domestic bro type swill, this is not the place for you.  You're gonna have a bad time!  

The Pony has a pub like feel to me that I love.  You order at the bar.  They have cask beers.  There are two big flat screens with the current beers on tap.  What I really love about the Pony is that I get to see all my favorites like Ballast Point (all over town), Stone, Abita, Dark Horse, Oskar Blues and Magic Hat.  But, it's not gonna be the flagship brews that you'll see from these brewers.  What you're more likely to find are the deep cuts.  Be adventurous and try something new.  The Stoudt's Heifer in Wheat that I had during my recent visit rivaled any of the good German Weisbiers I enjoy this time of year.

I love good beer with competent descriptions in an unpretentious setting more than I can explain. This place hits it. Go during the week or early on a weekend so you can enjoy the beer while the decibel level is still reasonable.

Great Idea, Spotty Execution.

Lucky for The Pony Bar I love good beer more than I hate spotty and lame service.

First off, I am a native Californian, here in NYC for a 12 month contract. Please weight my revue as your judgement dictates.

Great Idea. A rotating selection of beers from all over America. Wide variety, always a tough choice of what to try first.

They always have 1 (sometimes more) beer on cask condition drawn up by a beer engine. Love those cask conditioned beers. I have had many over the last years, never disappointed. Beer at The Pony Bar is spot on.

Had the food once. Not bad, not great. It was satisfactory. You to The Pony Bar UES for beer.

Service is a hit and miss affair. Some times I have had to sit at the bar and wait. And wait. Then wait some more. The staff is busy chatting with a friend sitting at the bar. Some times they are gossiping with other staff members. I am close enough to hear the conversation, not close enough to get a beer. I had to wait while the staff did something with their phone. This has happened about 3 or 4 out of about 7  times I have been in The Pony Bar. Never did I wait due to the staff helping other customers.

Beer Great.

Food Acceptable

Service sometimes OK, sometimes aggravating.

I will go back, many time more times.
