My favorite gastro pub on the Upper East Side. Any place that can serve up authentic fish & chips, wins my heart. It doesn't hurt, also, that their sticky toffee pudding is quite bluntly put, orgasmic. Place can get ridiculously crowded over the weekends, but definitely worth the wait.
Review Source:First off I have wanted to stop in and see if the majority of the Yelp reviews, which are positive, would hold up for me. The bar area is well done and comfortable. From this point in the review my scoring begins to slide a bit. The staff were pleasant at first seating but seem to spend a majority of time interacting or was entertaining each other. A bit of more attention to the guests, at least this guest, would have been appreciated. Service is the low point of the review for me. The beer selection is broad and a highlight. The bar menu and food from the bar menu that I tried this evening was good/very good. The wine selection that others wrote about here is reasonable in my view but you can do much better in total selections and price points along 2nd Ave. All told a solid 3 star review for a local neighborhood bar.
