I have a part-time job over at Crestview and sometimes the Pub is just the thing after a long day at work. Their mozzarella cheese balls are amazing, the waitresses and bartenders are always friendly and they have a great selection of beer. Oh, and their fish and chips is delicious though they are a little skimpy on the chips which is a little off-putting for a carbivore like me.
Review Source:I've been going to this location of The Pub for years now. I started my experience there with participating and completing their "Beer Passport." If they still have this promotion going on I highly recommend it! That is... if you're an adventurous beer drinker. To complete the Passport you have to drink all the beers they have to offer (which is around 65). And when you complete this you get your Passport signed by one of the owners and you get $4 beers for life! Which is really cool considering their beer prices range, but are mostly around $6.
Soon after going there I became involved in their Open Mic Night (which is Monday nights). There is a regular group of musicians that faithfully come out to this every week. All really nice people and very talented. I've played there countless times. They even have a waitress that is really talented that will hop on the mic to play a few! I definitely endorse Open Mic Night. Not-to-Mention, it is also half-priced burger night. This is a great deal. It's around $4for any burger and fries they have. They are actually really good. They offer a burger with an egg on it! Definitely give it a try sometime.
You also can't go wrong with their Fish and Chips. And Their Fish and Chips are half-off on Tuesday nights during trivia... ALSO a very night to go to The Pub.
Pros: beer cheese app - freshsoft bagel twists and veggies with a cold thick beer cheese spread
Samuel Smith's Organic Cider
Cons: The hightop tables are really high and I had no where to rest my legs. I'm 5'5 and could barely reach the leg rest on the stool.
Other reviews have commented on the price. My friend and me had a craft beer each, 2 apps and split fish & chips. Our bill was $43
I felt like the prices were fine. Â Portions were a pinch on the small side but not enough that I would complain about it and it wouldn't keep me from going back. Us Americans could use a little smaller portioning anyways, :)
Stopped in for lunch as we have done before but this time the portions were like ordering from the kids menu. The price was a little steep for the portion you get. Â The service was not so good and could have understood it better if there were more people. Â We sat at the bar since normally the service is better at the bar but not here not this time. Once we got our food we never seen the bartender again. She served us and left the check at the same time and we never seen her after that. They do have the best ice tea in town and nice if you can get a second glass.
Review Source:I walked in here on a Saturday night around 10 ish and after standing at the door for a bit, the bartender told us we can sit anywhere; we weren't the only ones standing at the door. After we seated ourselves, I quickly scanned the menu because I was starving! The place was pretty empty, but it still took the waitress a good 15 minutes before taking our order. Starving I tell you!
Anyways, the food came quickly and I was happy. We ordered jumbo lump crab cakes, scotch egg, bacon wrapped dates, and chicken pot pie. As hungry as I was, I knew that what I was eating was good, but not amazing. My favorite was the crab cakes, I think they put jalapeno in it, which gave it a small kick, yum! They were cooked just right. I really liked the scotch egg too, there's a reason why it's a pub favorite! I'm not a big fan of bacon, but with the sweetness of the date, there was a good balance of flavor. The bacon was a little too crispy for me though. The chicken pot pie wasn't as satisfying as the other dishes, but it wasn't bad. It was served open-faced and there was some whipped potatoes that came with it, pretty good. I was not feeling the shell though, it had a weird taste.
I think it's really cute that they have a place like this here. The pub has British style, from the decor to the food. The food here is a bit pricey for what  they're serving. I think I would come back here if I couldn't decide what to eat. I'd think of it as paying for something a little different than the usual American fare in the area.
I've eaten here a few times. The food is ok.
I tried to order a sandwich without something on it once and was told they couldn't do that because the sandwiches were all made during the day for the evening. That kind of turned me off.
Service out of the kitchen was slow. The deep fried pickels were good. We got a couple of their special mixed drinks, they were a bit on the weak side.
I got the chicken pot pie for my main. The puff pastry was really flaky and light, but the chicken stew part of it had a sauce skin on it from where it had been sitting in the window. The peas were a bit too underdone and the dish was under seasoned. I had to add salt and pepper, which is generally not a good sign for me.
My wife had the fish and chips, which she's had there before. The batter coating on the fish was a bit doughy in a couple of spots.
I'll go if I'm with someone who really wants to go, but I'm not going to suggest it.
Only reason we ended up there last night was because our 1st and 2nd choices of restaurants were packed.
I used to love this place for the beer selection and wide variety of food. But the last few times we've been here the management has been rude, the food takes forever to come out and when it does, it's cold or not prepared properly. I'm over The Pub and it's food. But I might still stop in for a beer while I'm running around Crestview Hills.
Review Source:I am not commenting on the food, because I've never had it. I don't believe in eating at places where the bar is obviously a much superior way to spend calories.
That said, this bar is lovely. I'm not big into beer either (omg, why am I reviewing this?), but their martinis are absolutely to die for. Pineapple Upside Down Cake, and whatever their chocolate one is, are both perfect. This pub is exactly what I imagine the Winchester in "Shaun of the Dead" to be like. And you KNOW if there was a zombie apocalypse, I'm proposing we all go here.
Ah the Pub. Â You will usually find me here on Tuesday nights with a frosty pint in hand and a frustrated grimace on my face for finishing second in Trivia. Â Throughout my two years of frequenting here, The Pub has undergone some changes, some good, some not so good, but all in all it is still a classy joint to enjoy an eclectic pint and, most importantly, is still home to one of the best trivia nights in the Tri-State.
When it comes to Americanized versions of a "Pub" you can't beat this chain of restaurants, which are usually found in "lifestyle" centers in Kentucky, Ohio and Florida. Â Having been to London, they get the decor down pat, the beer selection is good, the fish and chips are also great, and heck the prices and hours of operation (closing around midnight) are very similar to London. Â This aspect is not so good, but you are paying for authenticity and the premo locations.
The hallmark of the Pub is their beer selection, which includes over 30 various taps and whole host of bottles. Â During happy hour, 4-7, many of drafts are 4 bucks, and I think a dollar off bottles. Â I usually stick with the drafts, which usually range in price from 5.25ish to 7 bucks. Â Granted this is usually out of my price range, but I partook in their passport program a few years ago where I have locked in 4 dollar pints for life. Â They have actually scaled back on their tap selection over the years, but it is still a pretty decent selection.
Other pluses include the burgers and fish and chips. Â On Mondays the burgers are at a discounted price. Â The best burger they offer is the Young Double Chocolate Stout burger. Â Smothered with onions and their specialty Young's BBQ sauce, made from the delicious brew. Â It creates an unholy mess and you might need a fork and several napkins. Â Also request some extra Young's BBQ sauce, great for dipping your chips and crisps!
Tuesdays are Trivia Night. Â Trivia Night at the Pub is what keeps me coming back week after week after week. Â First off you have half off fish n chips, then you are asked 20 general knowledge questions and 10 questions in a music round, smathered in between are raffles and a bonus round. Â This trivia is fun, moderately challenging and FAST!!!! Â You start at 7:30 and it wraps up at 8:30ish 9ish. Â Don't get me wrong, I love trivia, but some other trivias take way too long, and this is not one of them.
All in all this is a great place to play some trivia, eat some burgers and fish n chips, and drink some eclectic pints. Â It is never too raucous and you can usually find a seat, save during the trivia hours. Â So stop in, grab a beer and revel in the closet thing to English Culture aside from supermarket tabloids focusing on Will and Kate. Â Cheers!
I have always enjoyed the Pub, this location and others. Â We have gone for dinner, drinks, and their trivia night on many different occasions.
Their food is fantastic. Â You can't go wrong with their fish and chips! Â My wife has always enjoyed their salads and chicken sandwiches. Â If we are there just for drinks and a snack, their chips (fries!) hit the spot. Â They also have a number of great deserts. Â Prices are reasonable for a typical chain restaurant.
Service is generally efficient, ranging from basically professional to friendly. Â I don't ever remember having a problem with how long it took me to get my food or refills of drinks. Â
If you are a beer drinker, this is the place to drink it. Â I love Young's Double Chocolate Stout or a Guinness. Â Their selection of beer is incredibly extensive and has something for every taste. Â My wife does not drink beer, but they do have a full bar and a decent wine selection. Â
I highly recommend their quiz night! Â It is a great way to get you and your friends together on a lazy week night.
The Pub is a cool joint but once you get past a lot of the over-the-top British decorations and kilt dressed waitresses, it's nothing special. Everything is really new which is a positive to some people but it lacks the personality of Molly Malone's or even Gladdagh.
The liquor/beer menu is excellent however with a huge selection to try from. A bit pricey but if you are a whiskey connoisseur it's a great place to relax and sip on a fine drink. As far as getting hammered though, I wouldn't suggest it. The food is very sub-par, I'd avoid it if at all possible.
Overall it's a nice little spot and by far the best place to drink if you are limited to Crestview Hills.
Full disclosure: I am a regular at this establishment, and am very much treated accordingly. I fully admit that much of the superlative service I get here is due to the fact that several servers and managers know my Dad and me, and the rest of the staff can recognize us on sight.
That being said, I do consider this a great place to meet friends for drinks and conversation. The drink selection is good and the prices are reasonable. The music is never too loud, and some nights you'll hear some really great tracks. (Other nights, not so much. Personal opinion, but the Dave Matthews Band has little to no reason to be playing in a pub.) The food is good, not great. Although I do love their ham-and-cheese on pretzel loaf. But then, I love pretzel loaf, so who knows.
The bar area is still a smoking section, so that might discourage you from going. I have smoker friends, though, and it's nice to see them treated like humans and not have to go outside like a dog to feed their habit.
Clean, spacious, and not too dimly lit - I like The Pub a whole lot. And if you get Kim or Lauren, tell them Adam sent you.
I came to The Pub on my most recent visit back to KY in January with my mom and brother, and we were all very pleased!
I had the pumpkin soup and hot spinach and artichoke dip and they were both really great...especially the pumpkin soup. Â I only got a cup, but had I known how awesome it was, I would have gotten a bowl. Â Mom had the sliders and we all loved them, and bro had the fish and chips. Â I believe his exact words were, "This is the best piece of fish I've ever had." Â So, there you go. Â
I will definitely add this place to my list of places to eat while I am back in the bluegrass.
Definitely a great place to check out for a special occasion (meeting/date), maybe not a low key "beer-or-two" kinda night...
My coworkers and myself enjoy an occasional "Morale Meeting" (yeah It's not "morality" as I first thought, Georgeann G.). These morale boosting reprieves usually consist of myself setting a mouth speed record  with beer and making as big a jackass of myself as possible.
I was happy to find that the food was fantastic and the selection of rare beers kept a nice variety throughout the night. I enjoyed a few different beers (see above), so I can't list all of them but the food quality was particularly surprising. I tried a few hot-wings and had a lamb burger with steak fries and everything was just excellently prepared.
The only complaint is that the prices are kinda high, but I don't mind when the food and service are deserving of the cost.
The Pub at Crestview Hills is a favorite spot of mine for several reasons. Â Despite the fact that the place itself does nothing amazing, it does everything pretty good and the consistency shines.
I have been really into the Young BBQ Burger lately, get it with the pretzel bun, very tasty. Â The fish and chips are alright, nothing amazing, but decent as well. Â
As a cigar smoker, this is one of the few places I know where you can smoke a cigar inside still, so I take advantage of that in the winter when I can. Â Although the last time I was there they asked for an ID to have a cigar ashtray. Â I guess alot of people were stealing them.
I should also mention the alcohol selection is very good as well. Â Great place, and I certainly recommend it.
I normally frequent The Pub in Rookwood Commons, so I was curious if my experience would be the same.
The wait staff was excellent, friendly, and efficient. Â That, to me, helps make or break an establishment. Â I'm a die hard Fish and Chips fan, so that's what I ordered. Â If you like over-battered, kinda gooey fish n chips, this is the dish for you. Unfortunately, that's not to my liking, so I was very disappointed. Â And they don't sell ANY root beer, which is my only beer of choice. Â They say they used to, Â but I guess it wasn't popular. That's another strike against them.
They are not my first choice of eatery, but I wouldn't refuse to go if you asked.
I've had nothing but great experience at The Pub at Crestview Hills. The staff is friendly, the atmosphere and decor is fantastic, their drink menu is impressive, and the food is delicious. You can't ask for much more than that!
I've been here a couple of times for lunch with coworkers, Tuesday night trivia with friends, and saw a World Cup game with a handful of buddies, too. No matter what the occasion and regardless of the company I'm with, it's been nothing but good times all around.
My only complaints are these:
- No lunch-sized fish & chips. If you want fish & chips for lunch, it will be the usual huge piece of fish and fries... I wish there was a smaller portion!
- The lighting inside. It is SO dark! As if the dark wood didn't bring down the brightness enough, there are barely any lights coming from the few bulbs in the place!
Best Feature: GREAT food, awesome service!
Worst Feature: Can't stay too late
So I am a huge fan of The Pub - both the Rookwood and Crestview location.
Everytime I've been there, the service has been fantastic! The food is quite excellent as well, and I've tried a few different dishes. I love their drink selection, and they are great about giving information on their drinks/food! They even have a sampler - you can pick a few drinks to try!
The only issue I have with The Pub is their hours - I have a busy workday and a lot of times I try to invite friends out for a later weeknight. They are not open as late as other locations (e.g. Highlands Coffee in Clifton), so often times I have to find another place to meet up with friends. Sometimes I've been able to make it, but it really does clear out around closing time so I make sure to check out on time. Of course, for most people, that might not be an issue.
I definitely love to come to this place when I'm looking for good drinks and food - it's a bit pricier, so be ready to spend $10-20 on food for one person. It's worth it to me, though, as I love the events and specials they offer for customers. This place is great for groups or dinners out with friends - not sure I'd bring my family here, though.
I also love the location - it's not far from major highways, so it's fairly easy to get to. Plus it's right in the major shopping places in Crestview, so it's great to walk around and check out other stores in the area!
I definitely recommend this place - I've never had a bad time here!
There's one major reason to head to The Pub: the giant selection of beer, many on tap. If you're a beer snob in northern Kentucky, you need to be here. It drives me nuts to go into a place and only be able to get Bud and Miller products, or maybe a Sam Adams or Guinness if you're lucky. The Pub has a great selection of brews, and even the snobbiest of beer snobs can find something to their liking here. The food is average to slightly-better-than-average (especially for pub fare). The ambiance is accessibly British and very warm (we've even re-done our basement to be a bit like The Pub), and the bar in the center of the room is absolutely a work of art. But, let's face it... if you're here, you're here for the beer.
Review Source:This place is definitely an anomaly in the shopping area that it's located in. Â They done a pretty good job of setting the mood inside of an English pub or rather what people in the South thinks an English pub should look like. Â Either way, it's cool with a nice big bar.
We stopped in here after dinner to meet up with some really cute girl friends of my buddy's wife and have a few drinks. Â I went with a Harp and they had a very nice selection of beer. Â
Here's the kicker: Â My bill was a total of $34.50 and that's with my two beers and the two beers of my buddy and his wife's wine. Â So cheap!
All of the servers wear kilts which adds to the English pub mood.
Don't forget that people still can smoke inside, so choose your seat carefully.
I'll give The Pub credit for providing a somewhat Americanized - English pub experience. Â The real draw (besides the waitresses dressed in cheeky unifroms) is the hand crafted bar. Â The best time to go is on Monday nights at 7:30 for trivia night and the half-priced fish n' chips. Â Gather a team up for a good time and some challenging questions.
Review Source:NOTE- Whenever I eat at an establishment I look at the following factors: quality of service, quality of food, price of meal, portion sizes, and the restaurant ambiance.
Located in Florence KY, in a mall parking lot (of all places) is The Pub. Modeled after authentic British pubs, the proprietor, Nick Sanders, says he liked the traditional pub feel with the modern colonial influence. In the center of The Pub is a large well-crafted and ornate wooden bar. From here you can sample one of many beers. On draft, The Pub offered English, Belgian, Scottish, Irish, and local specialty beers as well as assorted bottled beers. I had a sampler of four quarter-pints. Nicely done, these four glasses allowed me to try several flavors for the cost of one. They were presented on a sheet of paper titled "Beer Sampler".
I tried the English Boddington's Pub Ale, the Belgian Stella Artois, the Bellhaven Scottish Ale, and the Irish Smithwick's. While all were good beers my favorites were easily the Bellhaven and the Smithwick's.
The food selection was above notch for the usual pub. They included appetizers, soups and salads, hot panini sandwiches, classic pub fare, main entrees, and desserts. I tried the more traditional meal with Bangers and Mash. The sausages were good although they both seemed peppery. The server had told me one was sweet and the other was to be spicy to even out the flavors. I did no find this to be the case. The peas and carrots were of the grocery store frozen food variety and not fresh. They included a nice little salad on the plate with balsamic vinegarette - a refreshing addition. The potatoes were advertised as "chive whipped potatoes" and they were. The chives added a bite to the mash that, with the spicy sausage, seemed to overwhelm the dish.
The Pub menu was fun, conversational, and informative. They included witty quotes, beer definitions, a Monty Python drinking song, and English/Brit word equivalents. As Mr. Sander's letter to patrons commented on the back of the menu, the atmosphere was fun, friendly, and one of conversations and relationships.
I think I'll have another Bellhaven!
I have been there a few times now, and each time i found the wait staff slow to respond. Â The last trip i made there I actually had to call the bartender over to order an appetizer, and in trying to call her she just waved back at me. Â Then I pointed to the menu before she came over (this was about a half hour after we had asked for the menu in the first place). Â It was kind of expensive for what we got. Â would i go back? Â Yeah, but it wouldn't be my first choice.
Review Source:We discovered The Pub somewhat by accident, but it was certainly a nice surprise. We were headed to a more expensive type restaurant in the Crestview Towne Center and thought we were in a more casual mood. Now we consider The Pub, both at Crestview and Rookwood, one of our favorites.
The fish and chips, salads and sandwiches are consistently tasty. The servers are attentive, but not hovering, and always sport company T-shirts with catchy slogans. The portions are very generous and the prices are reasonable.
Being a pub, of course they have an excellent beer selection and other drink options.
We showed up here on an off night for a few drinks before they closed and it is very cool on the inside. Â I noticed a very interesting "King's" type table towards the back of the place that seemed interesting. Â Other than that they had a very good selection of beers on tap which is always a nice thing.
Also you have to like the kilts on the wait staff... but I always dislike the smoking in bars.
The Pub's fish and chips are amazing--truly reminiscient of London. The batter is crisp and the fish firm--probably the best I've ever had in Cincinnati. The Pub has excellent happy hour deals that include 1/2 price appetizers. With an extensive beer and scotch selection, The Pub is the perfect place to bring a group of friends after work.
And if you fancy yourself and your friends as fairly clever, test your wits against other bar patrons during Tuesday's Quiz Night. Just don't act like David Brent!
