Ragtime is the perfect getaway to chill and get away from the craziness and pretentiousness of some of the more popular bars in the Courthouse/Clarendon area. The staff is super friendly, the food is above average and there's plenty of good beers on tap. The same regulars tend to frequent this place--it's definitely got a neighborhood bar feel to it. I really prefer this place on a weeknight or early weekend nights. There's live music that blasts late on Fridays and Saturdays and it can be really loud for such a small place. Probably because of the bands on the weekends, it can attract a more alternative/hippie scene some nights.  The place really isn't amenable to live bands so I'd just wish they ditch the music--that's my only gripe with this place.

Great food and service. Food quality was great, service just as good. We arrived on a Tuesday night about 6 and were seated immediately but I noticed it got very full within about a half an hour and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. I was with my 65 year old mother and 14 year old son and it was family friendly for dinner.  I suspect that it turns more into a bar atmosphere later but the crowd was mostly made up of professionals and tourists so likely not a crazy bar scene.

This place was a block away from where we were staying so that's how we ended up here. I'm totally glad that it worked out that way because I really enjoyed this place. It's a LOT bigger than it seems from the outside. There is a cute little patio to enjoy a drink and warm weather, but we sat inside. The restaurant keeps going and going. You can tell it's a old speakeasy too because of the way of the layout.
I kept reading reviews on the buffalo chicken wrap, so my husband had that. He LOVED it.
I had the crabcake sandwich, and it was pretty damn tasty as well.
We were there kinda early for dinner so we enjoyed some happy hour prices. I had a glass of the chardonnay and thought it was ok. The husband had some beer that I thought smelled like cat piss, but he seemed to like it.
Worth checking out if you're in the area.

I visited Ragtime for a brunch in mid-February and really enjoyed it.  It's a nice little pub with a southern feel to it.  You absolutely must order the jambalaya.  I ordered a cajun burger and a side of jambalaya and absolutely loved it.

The service at the restaurant was great and the pitchers of mimosas were excellent.

I'll definitely have to check this place out in the future, especially for one of their special events.

Came back to this dump for dinner. Why did I come back? Because it's obvious I am a glutton for punishment. Food still sucked and the entire place stunk like burnt oil. Our waiter had sewer breath, which I tell you is quite an appetite supressant!

    Never again, Gagtime! Never again.

    And the music still sucks.

This is the place to be on Tuesday nights.  They have a superb raw bar specials.  Beer specials are until 7pm.  The Buffalo chicken wrap is amazing.

I moved into the neighborhood about a year ago and was ready to make this my go-to neighborhood spot. The food was typical, both in taste and price, but the beer menu was quite good for a local spot. I've been here for brunch, dinner, sunday gameday, happy hour, and late night drinks. These have been my observations:

The food is decent, nothing special and a bit expensive for what it is.

The daily happy hour is hit or miss: beer specials aren't great and many nights the food specials are often entrees rather than appetizers for sharing--but, the wednesday sliders and friday wings are great

At this point I'd even give Ragtime 4 stars, but the service is awful.

The wait staff is the same 3-4 girls who are always scowling. In the last year I've been to Ragtime almost a dozen times and I've never had anything better than unwelcoming service. I've read several comments about the food taking a while, but the only thing I've noticed that's slow is an unoccupied host stand that is left unattended for 5-10 minutes. But, I do want to echo the point that I always get attitude when I ask what the specials are or what beers they have on tap. The waiters, without exception, want to take an order, deliver the food, and collect the tip while we're still finishing our meal (don't linger here after you've ordered your last items or the waiters will flash you dirty looks). Any question is met with an impatient look and unwelcoming response. I've brought friends, family, and dates here and every group I've been with has independently commented on the poor service. I'm not looking for my chair to be pulled out for me, but I don't think a neighborhood restaurant should make those of us in the neighborhood wish we had stayed in for the night.

I hope the ownership reads this: I live 2 blocks away and wanted to frequent this place 4-5 times a week, but I haven't been back in 3 months because I don't appreciate paying for someone to roll her eyes at me.

Kindof seems like a hole in the wall from the outside but a cozy feel on the inside. I went here for trivia, which is easier than most and there's kindof a funny layout inside for trivia.

Other than that, drinks and food are standard.

I'm a big fan of Ragtime.  It's a great place right off the of the Courthouse Metro near the AMC movie theatres.  Ragtime has a good New Orleans feel to their menu with some different creole offerings like Jambalaya and po boy sandwiches.

My favorite thing to order there is the steak salad.  It's priced at around $10-12 and it's definitely worth it.  It makes a good, quick and easy lunch during the day.  The only reason I gave the 4 stars is that I went for the slider special once and tried the BBQ pork sliders.  They were drenched in sauce that you couldn't even taste the meat, if there was meat in the sliders at all.

Parking is available on the street or in the paid lot by the courthouse and again, it's right near the Courthouse metro - orange line.

Stop by this place if you're looking for a quick bite during the day, a drink and happy hour after work, or if you're craving that great nola food...

I lived right by Ragtime for seven years, so I have a bit of a soft spot in my heart for it.

That said, for what it is, I don't think you can find much better.  The food is VERY good for bar food, and whether I was ready to chow down on several dozen wings or I was in the middle of an attempt to eat well and drop a few pounds, I could always find something good on the menu.  I highly recommend the buffalo chicken wrap - one of the best I've had.  The weekend brunch is excellent, as well.

The service was usually quite good, though as anywhere, it will have a few ups and downs over time.  They do have a lot of live music, though I don't think it's best suited for that.  What I liked most about it, though, was that it is a comfortable place that I could pop on by anytime and always feel relaxed.  If you have no attachment to the place, I wouldn't trek halfway across town just to come here.  However, if you happen to be in the Courthouse area, it's definitely worth hitting.  And if you live in the Courthouse area, it's worth making your "home bar."

Cheap wings and beer after work on Fridays - great! What else can I ask for? Well, maybe some personality and atmosphere to the place to earn the 5-stars. Decor is pedestrian and the crowd is generic - just like the restaurant is.   I know it's supposed to be NOLA-themed, but there's just no spirit to the place. Maybe I need to check out the live-music.  Regardless, I didn't come here for the theme, and I doubt anyone does.

It's not hard to mess up chicken wings, but the Chipotle BBQ flavor I ordered my first time here were overcooked, grainy, and just not good overall.  My friend convinced me to come back the second time around and I ordered the regular buffalo flavor. This time was a success, and I enjoyed the wings, although they were nothing to write home about.

The staff is pretty good, although I saw someone order a whiskey with water; the bartender must have misunderstood and mixed it in a pint glass and filled it with water with a shot of whiskey in it.  Good thing I ordered beer.

My experience here does not inspire confidence.  I wouldn't recommend this place unless you know what you're doing.  But you'll probably see me here after work once in a while enjoying a couple pints of Miller ($2.50) and buffalo wings (50c).

Me and a few friends came here last night to eat and enjoy a few beers. After a horrible experience I will never go to Ragtime again!

    1. Service was horrible! We waited forever to have our drink orders taken, for our food to come out, and for the check. A few times I had to eventually stand up and search for our waiter in order to ask for silverware, plates, and napkins. Maybe if our server actually had the courtesy to ask if we needed anything or ask how everything is.. I wouldn't have to go looking for her.

When the food eventually came out (after 20 minutes prior to ordering) the server stated that they ran out of crabs and only able to bring out not even half of our order. The server/manager couldn't come tell us that from the beginning!?!? I'm sure they knew when the order was submitted to the kitchen that they wouldn't have enough food. No apologies, no visit from the manager, NOTHING! Not a care in the world for their paying customers!

    2. The food was okay from the very little I had to eat. I was only able to eat one crab leg and some shrimp. It probably would taste better if I had a full meal!

    3. We saw two MICE running around our feet and other customer's on the outside patio!!! WTF!! I live in Arlington and have ate at many establishments in Arlington and DC and have never experienced MICE running around my feet!! Very unpleasant experience when trying to eat!

#3 alone should be enough to stir you away from stepping foot inside this place. If I only had the option to give Ragtime negative stars I would.

I have been here about a dozen times now and have found that the food is pretty bad in general.  The only thing worth eating are the wings in my opinion.  I still love the bar and the trivia night is fun and the music is usually good (with the exception of catching one guy faking playing the guitar).

The bar tenders are really hit or miss. there is one in particular that is down right mean.  Everyone knows who it is.

Food needs an overhaul in a bad way though.

Ragtime is a couple of blocks from my house so I decided to check it out for dinner. I sat outside on the enclosed patio which was cool but they probably need to either get rid of the hanging flowers or hang them higher as I'm tall and kept bumping my head.

I had the surf and turf sliders which was okay. I prefered the cheeseburger ones over the crab cake sliders. The prices were reasonable. They had Trivia night which I didnt partcipate in but I thought it was cool so I may next time. Overall I will return.

I was "forced" to get a hotel room in Arlington and ended up getting a room at the hotel next door to Ragtime. I went in there on a whim and was absolutely blown away by the quality, amount, and taste of the food. The selections were great and very filling. And also the food was at a great price.

If you're in the Arlington or DC area, stop by Ragtime. A great meal, great scene and at a great price.

What do I enjoy?  Well I enjoy the sauce, jazz, and bacon.

Luckily for me, Ragtime had all three.

The lady and I went to Ragtime for brunch as I noticed they have a waffle and omelet bar for a decent price.  One price gets you as many waffles and omelets as you want, along with home fries, bacon, and sausage.  The omelet fixins were actually quite more varied that what you find at your usual omelet station too.

We arrived shortly before noon and had to wait about 5 minutes to be seated, it wasn't crowded but definitely congested.  I wouldn't recommend a big group to visit here, at least nothing bigger than 5.

Something really cool that I didn't now about the place going in is that they have a live jazz trio performing tunes.  Makes sense right? A place called ragtime with brunch has live jazz to go along with it?  I know, it hit me like a bag of hammers too.

Service was decent, I felt they could have been a bit quicker but it was by no means terrible.

    I'd definitely go back.

Chill spot to enjoy the game.

I went to Ragtime for the first time earlier today and all and all a good time was had by all.

Perfect place to kick back and watch a football game or I'm sure any other sporting events. There were plenty of TVs that you didn't have to be all crowded into one room to enjoy the game.

As far as the food goes, I mean it is what it is, perfect acceptable bar food.

I had the surf and turf sliders, basically two hamburger sliders and two crab cake sliders, the hamburger sliders were far superior to the crab cake sliders but both were good enough for what I needed at the time.

Sweet bonus is that during football games at the start of every quarter they spin a big wheel and whatever it lands on that will be the special until the quarter is over. For example I arrived in the middle of the 2nd quarter and the current deal was 2.50 Miller Lites, they respun at the start of the 3rd and the deal was a 1.25 sliders. So it's a way to mix the specials up throughout the night and have some fun.

Service was cool, we finished eating midway through the 3rd but the waitress didn't keep hounding us to buy more stuff or try to get us to leave because we weren't eating or ordering anything at that particular moment.

All in all, there is nothing special about Ragtime. It knows it is a sports bar but it does it best to be the best sports bar it can be. Next time I'm in the area I could totally see myself stopping in again.

    - not particularly crowded or loud
    - food is good but not great
    - conveniently located

This is one of the most low-key bars in Arlington. It is never crowded, the food is good and the service is great. There isn't anything specific that sticks out about Ragtime, it really is just a great, quiet neighborhood bar. I suggest going on a nice night and sitting outside. It's also the perfect location for a quick drink or bite before/after a movie since it's so close to AMC.

One more thing: order the taco salad with shrimp. It's delicious.

This place has been around for a while, but I only recently heard that it has a live jazz brunch on the weekends. Because I have a number of friends who live in the Court House neighborhood, I decided to go with them for a brunch. They have a pretty decent menu and pitchers of mimosas--how can you beat that??

Although I didn't try it, one of the first things you see when you walk in the door is a big omelet station. You can't really go wrong there, so next time I hit this place up I'll probably get an omelet, especially because a mimosa or bloody mary is only something like $3 more with that meal.

Another unique feature of Ragtime is its live music, which has been talked about in other postings. At first I was reluctant to sit where they were putting us because it shared a wall with the bass drum of the jazz ensemble, but they'd play a couple songs, take a short break, and then come back and jam some more. Looking toward the back of the place I noticed what I thought was a sports schedule of whatever professional had teams that you could come and watch, but no, it was a schedule of the local jazz bands that would be playing.

The portions are rather generous and the prices are even more reasonable, which is becoming more and more of a rarity on the Wilson Boulevard corridor in Arlington. It is an older building and the decorations are a little campy, but it's a nice escape from all the new, bright, and dazzling restaurants out there. Definitely worth going and kicking back a couple drinks or for brunch.

Ragtime is my Cheers.  Well not exactly, the only people who know my name there are my friends.  But they're always posted up in the back room and they usually remember my name.

I've been to Ragtime mostly during World Cup but also for NBA games and most recently for the Superbowl.  During the World Cup it was ridiculously packed, but it's usually not like that.  There's a big tv in the back room so if you want to get your friends together to watch the big game, you don't have to invite them over to your house - just reserve some tables in the back room of Ragtime.

The food is decent (they have a brunch buffet too apparently), the service is great, the vibe is homey.... so yea, I love Ragtime.

I met two lesbians here, so yeah I have a favourable opinion of the place. To balance that out, I have also spent a birthday here getting very hammered solo.

Reasonable bar, with some live jazz once in a while, surprisingly decent food, and a fairly large crowd over the weekends.

I think the location is the owner's ultimate pun, it's in the basement of a police station, surrounded by blue and white arlington cop cars, and an easy walk to the county jail in case of public disorderliness.

One must try their brunch and bloody mary bar on the weekends. Contrary to popular assumption, they do not place a large plastic bottle of aristocrat vodka, rather a really good collection.

Decent drink specials, and competitive raw bar specials.

On Tuesdays from 4 PM till close, $3.45 will get you your choice of 1/4 lb. steamed shrimp, 1/2 dozen raw oysters, 1/2 dozen steamed clams, or a dozen sauteed mussels. If you're into snow crab, $7 will get you two clusters of crab.

Service was a mixed bag. Out front, server Al helped us. Good guy. Unfortunately, we had the one sourpuss of a bartender later that evening who was far from friendly. Must've been his time of the month, but we ignored him and just ordered more. Alcohol kills spit, anyway.

Have a large group? Take advantage of their rear private room.

Ragtime is convenient to the Court House metro, and is worth a try.

Suprisingly good, cheap raw bar. Tuesdays all night.
Now, I know you're thinking, Virginia and seafood? Whaaaaaa?!

$3.45 Shrimp, Mussels, Clams or Oysters
    $7 Two Snow Crab Clusters
The mussels definitely are worth it (a dozen, get extra bread to mop up their salty garlic sauce) as are the raw oysters(1/2 dozen for $3.45).

Ragtime is a jazz and New Orleans themed bar that has a regular raw bar, but it's super cheap on Tuesdays all night. Never overpacked and with a nice speakeasy ambiance, it's a good place to kick back after work (or after going home to change, then come back). Super close to Court House metro, and a little tucked away. Usually they have live music too.

Their food is suprisingly good for bar food, and not too overpriced (except the nachos, sheesh). Besides the raw bar or normal greasy spoon choices, I liked their spicy gumbo and jambalaya. It might not be all authentic N'awlins, but it was solidly good food. Plus for mardi gras, their crayfish etouffee (basically a rice and seafood dish) was solid.

Their beer specials are ok - usually something local or seasonal on special for $3, the bottles are $5 and up usually, and rails are $6. Their selection is pretty good though, so I usually can find something I like. The service here has always been good too, even when it gets a little busy.

Will definitely have to try their Jazz brunch on Sundays or strip steak specials on Mondays. And half price wings on Fridays. woohoo!

I've worked across the street from this place for 2 years and never thought to go in.

Well, a co-worker convinced me to try the place and the food I had was great! I had the wrap of the day which was a jerk chicken wrap with feta cheese, sliced grapes, red onions, etc. So good! I also had a side of fries (which turned out to be great smaller waffle fries) and a coke.

While the place isn't chock full of ambiance, it was much better than eating at the same fast-food establishments day in and day out. As a place for a filling, tasty lunch, it's a winner.

    I will definitely be back.

Cool place, off the beaten trail (somewhat....) from the other spots in Clarendon/Court House.  It's a great brunch spot, usually complemented with a New Orleans jazz band.  The food is pretty typical pub fare, but they have these chicken fingers-on-a-stick appetizers with a delicious batter crust that took me back to my Krunch Pup days at Arthur Treachers when I was a kid.   Not the best for the diet, but once a year won't hurt ya.
Good selection of beers, slightly unusual bar set up, and outdoor seating for warm months.  And if it gets too rowdy, the police station is right around the corner.
Drawbacks:  Difficult parking (WHY can't you park in the Court House lot on Sundays????), and it can get quite packed in here after work.

I was at Ragtime for a party - apparently, they rent out their back rooms at no cost and allow hosts to provide food and a cash bar.  Additionally, hosts can choose which sporting event is on the big screen.  It seemed like a pretty great deal.

The drinks were really reasonable and the location is decent - close to the Courthouse metro.  The quesadillas were pretty delicious, as far as bar food goes.

I like Ragtime, but I don't love it.  The food is good but not great for a bar.  I liked the Buffalo Wrap I had but didn't love the Jerk Chicken Eggroll Appetizer, which felt like it was reheated from some frozen variety pack you could get at Costco.  Drinking wise, it is a cool spot because it is a little bit off the beaten path and doesn't tend to get slammed with people.  It's a manageable crowd; the perfect amount for a local hangout rather than a destination bar.  And, in an area that is low of local hangout type bars that make you feel comfortable, that is saying something.

I'm intrigued by the 'raw bar' happy hour specials, but rarely can get out to Courthouse in time during the week to get in on it.  I wonder how they can churn a profit offering oysters for so cheap.  But I'm not gonna complain.

Bumped up a half a star for having an outdoor patio area, even if it's small.

Finally made it here for brunch this past weekend.  I've been wanting to check it our for awhile now because supposedly they have a Sunday jazz brunch.  When I first arrived around noon there was def no jazz music playing so at first I was disappointed.  But it was a nice day so I sat out on their patio which was great.  After a little while I did start to hear jazz music playing inside.

It did take me awhile for someone to acknowledge me and get me a seat but once they did the service was great - everyone was very friendly and chill.  I did not have their buffet but it looked awesome.  I ordered the eggs benedict.  Nothing spectacular but it was good.  I think next time I will order the buffet.  I also overheard someone talking about a bloody mary bar - I will def check that out next time.

Overall - good food, pleasant experience, good place.  If I didn't live so close I don't think I would put forth the effort to come back but since it is very close to me I will likely be revisiting rag time for brunch.

Not too bad. I wasn't expecting much from the way it looked outside but it was a cozy little spot with an eclectic mix of people from a range of ages and backgrounds, which is always nice.  We walked in and there was a $3 cover, I joked with the door guy asking for an unemployment discount and he gave it to us :) He was very nice and right away I set him apart from the typical door guy attitude you run into in D.C.

There were no seats available but plenty of floor space to wander around (Friday @ 9:30pm). There was a band there playing island music which was fun and different but I hate to admit it slowed me down more because I was exhausted from the start of the night. Everyone there was friendly and welcoming too. I have yet to eat here but my girlfriends said the food is pretty good. So I may have to make the trek back here to enjoy a full night of hanging out. Love the atmosphere but hated the thick smoke, that's the only down side.  Will probably return

Ragtime is a solid bar.  Just all around solid. There's no cover (even when there's a sh*tty band) and there's just enough room to not want to stab the drunk ogre next to you.  The mix, depending on the day and time, is old (say 50-ish) guys catching up, just trying to get out of the house, and young (27+) Arlingtonians, looking for a bar that easy to walk too.  There's never any attitude here.  Their bartenders are pretty nice to you, and it's easy to get their attention even when it's crowded.  Ragtime has a back room that you can reserve or just show up early and grab money spots for major game days.

Now, here's the real reason I like Ragtime: every Christmas, I ditch my family for what is known as "Orphan's Christmas."  What can I say?  I'm an ungrateful child.  I've been to a few different locations in arlington, but Ragtime's is the location that is always bumping from the start.  It's like everyone else in the area gets the same idea and looks to Ragtime to comfort their daddy issues.  It's amazing!  I've never had a bad time at this place.

This place isn't very good, but in Arlington, a large crappy bar is a blessing in disguise.  Beers are expensive, the burgers taste like they were made with the frozen patties you buy at Costco, and the late night wait staff can be surly.  But, as a result of these things (I'm assuming), the place is usually not particularly crowded so you can actually move around and hear what the people you came with are saying.  Their beer pricing was pretty odd - Shiner Bock was somehow cheaper than Yuengling.  There's really not a lot to say about this place.  I can't imagine hating it or recommending it.

edit: my early ratings were way too generous.  lowering from a 3 to a 2.  this place sucks and there's no reason to come here.

For someone reason, my friends in DC differentiate Ragtime from the other Arlington bars they scorn.  I'm not entirely clear on why.  Don't get me wrong, Ragtime is a fine time.  It has an older, more mature vibe to it, and they often have live music.  It's a dark, cave-like interior that fills with smoke worse than any other bar in Arlington.

It does seem to attract a slightly preppier crowd than, say, Mr. Day's, but really isn't all that different.  The bartenders are quick considering the length of the bar they are covering.  If you are sitting at a table, expect reasonably slow service from the staff.  The food is all around mediocre, and I'd avoid the burgers if I were you.  Beware on Saturday's during college football season, Ragtime fills up with West Virginia fans.  Like filled to the gills.

The back bar is a nice respite, and does feature Big Buck Hunter.  Ragtime also often features the musical stylings of JP Hyland and his band Ferocious Newborn, which always guarantees a good time.  Other than that, Ragtime is thoroughly ordinary.

I used to hit this place up a lot when I worked in Arlington. Haven't been there in a while since I work and live in DC and don't find the need to Metro it out to courthouse just for a drink and food. But...I might have to go out there on a Tuesday night for their Seafood Happy Hour.

Clams, oysters, shrimp and muscles and they are pretty cheap but really tasty. I like the clams and shrimp best. The beers are also pretty cheap. The Happy Hour pitchers are a good buy.

If you're not going here for happy hour, drinks are about average for a restaurant/bar.

They have a pretty decent Sunday brunch, or at least used to, and their lunch menu is pretty good. Honestly I think their menu is just their menu but at lunch I always looked at sandwiches which leads into my next statement. Get the club sandwich. It's quite good and comes with waffle fries! I love waffle fries with honey mustard in place of ketchup.

If you're not a club sandwich fan, the french dip is good as are the fish and chips.

Their soups change daily but I remember a few being pretty good.  The lobster bisque stands out the most.

If you go around St. Patrick's day the place is crazy packed. But I'm a sucker for a green beer so I've made the trek out for that.

Ragtime is a very casual bar near Courthouse Metro.  Shorts are okay.  PBR's are okay.  Mullets okay.

It's a big bar and is pretty good for groups. There's limited outdoor seating in front.  They also have live music on the weekends as well as some enticing specials during the week.

But don't go here looking for beautiful people.

For starters... A couple of these reviews are WAY off base. Fake hippy crowd? The crowd here, like most of Arlington, is made up of young professionals who tend toward the preppy side if anything. Interesting that after 6 months of yelp membership, this guy only has two reviews which are both 1 star reviews against Ragtime and Rhodeside Grille, which are owned by the same people. Sounds to me like someone  has a personal vendetta.

And yes, this is the bar the WVU alumni association goes to to watch football games. If you don't like WVU or their fans (I know I certainly don't) then don't go during the three hours on Fall Saturdays when the WVU game is on tv. It's pretty easy to know when this is happening as they put a giant WVU flag out in front.

As for my review... I lived just a block away from Ragtime for over a year and its convenient location made it a frequent stop for me when I needed a quick bite. There were a couple occasions were service was a bit spotty, but I generally received very good service.

The menu is pretty standard bar food. Burgers, sandwiches, and the like. All good stuff. The waffle fries are especially good.

Half price burger night on Sunday is great. You get a big, quality burger for cheaper than you would pay for a burger at Wendy's just down the street. Brunch is also pretty good. Try the Eggadilla.

If my friend didn't work there this place would get 2 stars.

The bar is located in the Courthouse area of Arlington on a side street and its near a police station, which is appropriate because its known as a WVU bar, and we all know how WVU students and alumni get when they have had one too many shots of moonshine.

The one time I ventured here, I was with about 30 of my closest VT alumni friends to watch the ACC title game in the backroom where there had a nice little set up for some Football watching.  I ordered a club sandwich which was a......club sandwich, but I don't really remember how the food was because I got trashed.  VT proceeded to stomp BC, win the ACC title, and shots around ensued

After the game was over, my few remaining friends stuck around to celebrate and the WVU crowd started rolling in to watch the WVU vs. Pitt game, a WVU victory would send them to play in the National Championship game and they were a 30 point favorite so a victory seemed likely.  In case you didn't know....I would consider the VT - WVU rivalry as one of the fiercest rivalries in all of college football (it's a shame that we don't play on a regular basis anymore).

As the game started, and while the WVU fans were sober, there was mutual respect and we were friendly to each other.  We congratulated each other on the wonderful season we've had, VT was the ACC champs and WVU was soon to be playing for the National Title.  But as the game unfolded, WVU was unable to hold on to the ball, turned the ball over several times, their QB suffered an injury and they ended up losing the game in a heartbreaking fashion.  The once friendly WVU fans became very agitated.  In the mean time, we were laughing it up and mocking the poor Mountaineers, fortunately we escaped the bar unscathed.

After the game, we got Rastafarian and watched a pretty good local Reggae Band there.

I have mixed feelings about this place.  I love the outdoor seating but sometimes it gets a little too loud inside the place when they have the live music.  The burgers are fantastic but the brunch is overpriced and not very good.  The staff is awesome and they always have good beer on tap.

Overall I would give it 3 1/2 stars. Just skip the brunch and come back later in the day for dinner and drinks.

Heh. This used to be my spot when I lived in Sheffield Court. The food is your basic bar menu type stuff: mini burgers, skins, and wings. For entrees the jambalaya and the BBQ Sandwich are good. The big draw, however, is the jazz brunch. Hello? A omelet AND waffle bar? Sold!

There's live music on Wednesdays, usually jazz or blues acts.
