The Rake's End is a dive in Brighton, which has recently developed as a burgeoning arts neighborhood. Â The bar hosts live music several nights a week - no cover bands, mostly local and underground - including punk, metal, and indie. They also offer a DJ night where they spin nothing but psych and shoegaze. The art is weird/awesome, the bartenders are easygoing, and the vibe is unpretentious.
Review Source:Brighton has been begging for a neighborhood bar, especially since the galleries have been drawing crowds on selected Saturdays. Â This small "speakeasy" as they refer to themselves is open selective hours as of now. Â Saturdays from 9-2am are the hours you can count on, but Brittney, the upbeat bartender will be happy to tell you other upcoming nights that the doors are open like this Wednesday evening for example. Â This small bar-length drinking hole is everything I'd hope for in a neighborhood bar and more. Â Good drink selection with good prices - my New Castle was 3.25, and Maker's on the Rocks was 4.50, though a little shy. Â Even better, the band that was doing their thing on Saturday, was good. Â They were local, but not new to the scene. Â Ohhhh and bring your Ipod/MP3 player! Â They are more than happy to hook up your favorite jams to the speaker system. The crowd was very mixed, diverse in age and interest. Â Check it out, so we can get the doors open regularly!
