I haven't been here in a little while, but it was a favorite of my dad and I for quite awhile. Our burger place, and one of the few that could really deliver. It's probably the only place in the area where if you order a rare hamburger... It comes out mooing! I love that! Great burger, and just reviewing it now has given me a hankering.
Review Source:I had last eaten here about 20 years ago. Â Patchogue thankfully is a different place, but Reese's is the same wonderful pub! Â My husband and I sat t the bar to eat and the bartender could not have been nicer! Â Still the same wonderful coleslaw mins the celery seeds? Â And the great selection of pickles. Â A very nice touch! Â The burgers were as great as before.
Review Source:I finally had the chance to go to Reese's 1900 after hearing so many positive things about this pub/restaurant. Â I have to say I was not disappointed. Â Nice atmosphere, great choices and on the menu, Â and the food was great! Â I had a marinated NY strip that was excellent. Keep in mind that I eat at all the great steak houses (Morton's, Flemmings, Palm, Capital Grill, Uncle Jacks etc.) and the quality of my steak was great. The vegetable tower was a nice surprise as an appetizer also. Go there, relax, have a drink, chill and have a great meal. Â I'll be back!
Review Source:A visit to Reese's is like stepping back in time. Â Everything about the place is lovely, in that its authentic, well done and loved by the locals. Â Anytime I'm close by I stop in for lunch. Â The food is well done and priced well for the quality. Â
I always end up with the same waitress and she is always very attentive and patient with my children. Â They don't have a kids menu, but they are very accommodating. Â
Its important to note that they are closed on Sundays and I guess that's one of the reasons that their staff doesn't change much. Â
Stop in and make sure you try the Cole Slaw - there is none better!
Very warm welcome, with a room-full of regulars every day. Â Aside from that, this place is all about the burgers. Â They are simply terrific. Â Same goes for the homemade fries and coleslaw. Â I've tried a few other menu items (all very good), but I just feel compelled to order the burger with each visit because I know I'm just not going to be able to duplicate it elsewhere. Â Go and enjoy, but be prepared to wait for a table.
Review Source:Reece's is a very cool, cozy Irish pub. Â Standard beers on tap, but oh boy do they know how to pour a Guinness! Â We got cordon bleu balls and blackened Tuna for apps, both were delicious. Â 3/4 of us got the 1900 burgers and there was a lot of humming and smiles. Â I got the Rachel...amazing! Â Definitely recommend this place!
Review Source:Cozy place with a retro feel to it. Not a place I would hang out at all the time (due to the usually older crowd), but I have been there a handful of times. The menu leaves something to be desired, as I find it to be small and somewhat boring. That being said, whenever I do eat here I'm satisfied.
Review Source:Mainly a burger review....
Generally not a fan of thick Burgers, but ill be the first to admit that this is one of my favorites in all of Suffolk. The homemade potato wedges that come along for the ride are pretty good as well.
Ive also tried their loaded chili which was pretty good but definitely not the healthiest app/meal on the menu.
Since moving to Patchogue a year ago, Reese's became a quick favorite. Many different kinds of delicious indulgent burgers and sandwiches (Their crabcake sandwich is my favorite from anywhere). And there's always something eye-catching on the specials menu. The food is great and the atmosphere is quaint.
The drawbacks to Reese's would be the size, as noted in other reviews. However, you can call ahead so I would recommend doing so. Also they refuse to split credit cards at a table and only write one check per table. So when you go in a group go with cash and you'll save yourself a headache.
Don't let that stop you from enjoying Reese's. They're a real treasure!
3rd stop on Patchogue Halloween Spook-o-Rama Pub Crawl.
What can I say, Reece's is a Patchogue institution. Â The place is always filled with locals sucking down the beverages and eating the food. Â
As most of the prior reviewers have noted, this is not a large place. Â The bar area is fairly small and there are only about 7 or 8 tables in the dining area. Â I have never found either to be a problem. Â If going there for food you can usually wedge yourself into the bar area if there is a wait to be seated.
Service there has always been very good. Â The staff is always friendly.
Food is your typical bar fare. Â It's very good, but nothing to write home about. Â I usually stick with their sandwiches or burgers. Â They do offer other more elaborate dishes but I'm typically in there later in the evening so a full blown meal is usually not something I'm going to order.
The bar is fully stocked. Â There are several beers on tap and numerous others available in bottle form.
Reese's has such a nice, quiet atmosphere, and the food is simple and delicious. I've never been disappointed. When my brothers drove into town in the middle of the day (one from California, the other from Upstate), and I was still at work, I told them to head to Reese's for a good lunch. They both raved about it. Everyone I know loves the food here, and for good reason.
Review Source:Reese's 1900 is all about the atmosphere. This old school, Irish pub is sure to please anyone looking to take a step back in time. As those yelpers before me have posted and I can confirm, most of the customers are as old school as the establishment itself. For me, I find the clientele as a welcome surprise and escape from your typical bar scene. I have been into Reese's on more than one occasion and warn to not be surprised on your visit if there is somewhat of a wait. (A great excuse to sit at the bar!)
One cannot forget what Reese's truly is and that's an Irish Pub. From the moment you walk in you are welcomed by dark paneled walls, a tin ceiling and an old oak bar with brass railings. They offer a selection of beers on draft including Guinness and Blue Point Brew as well as a limited selection of wine. What Reese's truly has to offer is their assortment of liquor. Behind the bar you will find row upon row, shelf upon shelf of your favorite libations as well as some new varieties to try. All offered up by their skilled bar staff who are ready and waiting to mix up whatever strikes your fancy.
A simple yet diverse menu offers options that should be enough to please anyone in your group. From an appetizer menu of soup, chili and potato skins to entrees as simple as hamburgers to as decedent as NY Sirloin, seafood and Shepard's Pie. Reese's also offers a variety of sandwiches piled high on fresh bread served with homemade coleslaw and pickles. I recommend checking out their menu on online, you just might be surprised. http://reeses1900pub.com…
On Sept. 4, 2011 in Syracuse NY 10 burgers (one from each region of ny) battled for the best burger in the state. Â After hearing about their nomination for the best burger in their region my friend and I went to see what their burger was all about.
It's a great little local pub with all the normal bar food and a good selection of beer. With how the place was packed you could tell that it was a local favorite.
The burger was mediocre a bit dry oddly built with the bacon under the melted cheese. After having many of the other nominated burgers it's good they didn't make the trip. It's a great local place and much better then fast food but i wouldn't drive 2.5 hours to eat it... again. In a party of 5 with two that didn't eat meat it was hard for them to find anything to eat. Even a broccoli cheese popper that we were led to believe were meat free had bacon.
This is weird to say... but I feel like an adult when I come here.
I was definitely the youngest person in there by about 2 decades. They don't have too much on tap, but their liquor selection spans 3 shelves wall to wall!
It's a very authentic feeling, old-timey Irish Pub. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area and looking to grab a drink while avoiding the douchey college scene (and by college, I mean Suffolk Community). I didn't get to try any of their food but their burgers & fries sure looked tasty...
This is the place to get the best burger in Patchogue. Â It is one of the few establishments that will properly cook a medium rare burger. Â (many places cook to well done regardless of how ordered) The slaw is creamy like home made. Â Other items on the menu are a good choice too. Â The pub is small, and historic looking. Â The waitstaff attentive even during busy times, but they do not rush you.
Review Source:Patchogue's, North Ocean Ave teems with history. Reese's 1900 keep the feel in the aesthetics of the building. Approaching Reese's has more of a museum than bar feel.
The proprietors of the Pub are genuine with the warm greeting you get when you step inside. To the right is the olde timey Irish bar to the left is the sit down restaurant section. The walls are adorned with a collection of authentic turn of the century photos of the area amongst the typical Guinness ads.
The Menu is standard Pub Fare sprinkled with some not so typical items, like the soup of the day was a cream based corn and shrimp chowder. My agenda was the burger. Easy choice, The Reese's 1900 Burger. AKA Bacon Cheeseburger. Service abides to the old school NY style of a plate of Pickles and Coleslaw prior to the Burger entree. The Coleslaw was creamy a bit sweet and delicious.
The burger was outstanding quality I knew someone put this together for me. Not unfrozen or pre packaged. The bacon; not too smokey, appropriate thickness, cooked to not too crispy, chewy but not like jerky. The Chop Meat was juicy and a robust hearty flavor. The fries were a pleasant surprise actual cut potatoes.
The bar is well stocked; overall it's a cool unpretentious feel with great service. I'd go back to throw back some pints without hesitation. I'd recommend Reese's to anyone visiting Patchogue especially someone trying to avoid some douchebaggerry that plagues a lot of would-be decent Suffolk locations.
Reese's bills itself as a "Pub of the Old Style." Â Its clientele is of the old style as well, which makes this a good spot for those who would like to grab a burger with members of prior generations. Â I like spots like this every now and again, they are quiet, unassuming, and reliable. Â
Reese's has your Guinness and Bass on tap as well as local Blue Point Toasted Lager and a domestic mass produced pilsner in both standard and light versions. Â The bar has a great selection of liquors, including several Irish whiskys. Â The decor is standard American-Irish pub: dark woods with the walls adorned here and there with hackneyed Irish "prayers" and "blessings."
The menu has all manner of pub fare: sandwiches, fish and chips, steaks, etc . . . I've only had burgers here, and they've been very good. Â Bacon and blue cheese is a great option for your burger.
Two caveats: The pub has old fashioned values, so while blue cheese is available, blue language will be chastised, even if you are the only patrons in the bar (I know this from experience). Also, for those whose balance becomes impaired by strong drink, the bathrooms are upstairs. Check out the picture for the vertigo view that will await you after relieving yourself.
