I feel bad that I'm the duchess here :( the burgers used to be awesome and then umm something took a turn for the worst whicjph is really sad because all their burgers are amazing I've tried them all and now JUNK! Save your money go across the street and goto outback for a better burger! And why the hell does their waitstaff constanly pay with their hair or rub their noses and I told the girl behind the counter before you help me go wash your hands before you take my order because you just rubbed you nose and the chick told me NO I will never return there! But the health department should!!

While we don't eat burgers often, we love gourmet burgers every now and then as a treat.  Shula's is a clean, well kept environment with friendly service.  Burger was above average, for sure.  I would have liked a thicker patty, as the toppings overpowered the meat big time.  Toasted bun was excellent, but again somewhat overpowering the meat itself.  Toppings were fresh and plentiful.  Sweet potato tots were a nice touch, and both fries and onion rings were crispy and well made.  3.5 stars.

Minor issue: metal chairs on a hard floor makes a really jarring, annoying sound every time someone stands up.  They need to put felt or rubber caps on the chair feet.  Just a suggestion to keep the place quieter. Another issue is that they don't have napkins on the table.  That's a big annoyance at a burger joint; constantly getting up for more.

Would definitely recommend.  Family friendly.  Food was great!  Service could be a bit better, but nothing that can't be remedied.  Overall, this is a place we will be visiting again!

So me and a buddy of mine are always looking for new places to try and Shula Burger was the option of choice yesterday. Lot's of mixed reviews had given us weary feelings about giving it a go but we were cruising around so figured what the heck. With that being said, I'm going to break down my 3 star rating the best way I can.

Decor: Very clean and elegant for a burger spot. It's an order and sit format so there isn't the overbearing presence of a server as it isnt needed for a burger joint. Good amount of football designs and TV's seem to be visible from all seat locations. It's kind of what you would expect for Shula's meeting fast food. No issues here.

Atmosphere: Dull. Maybe we caught it at a bad time but this place was DEAD. There was more action going on amongst the staff in the visible kitchen than throughout the entire spot. Any noise seems to carry an echo throughout the entire place which isnt a problem for me but I know alot of people prefer a more tranquil setting when eating out. Just simply didn't cut it for what I was expecting when walking in.

Food: We both went with the "Shula Burger" and "Sea Salt Fries". Including a drink, the total came out to $15 each, which is about par amongst comprable options. I was actually impressed with the burger compared to reviews I read before going. This is not a Five Guys burger or a BurgerFi burger, however, it was it's own breed. This was more of a upscale burger you would get at a formal resturaunt (like Shula's on the Beach) with a great char finish and a perfectly cooked medium inside. It was great but I can't say I would choose it over BurgerFi. The fries however were obviously from frozen. Texture and taste resembled those of a concession stand and certainly not handcut or prepared which seemed odd considering the quality of the burger.

Staff: Everyone was friendly but most definitely a younger staff as stated in previous reviews. Some staff members seemed to be busting it while others were hanging out at the tables. If this place intends to stay around, they must improve the staff etiquite to not show lack of interest to easily be perceived. I will give props to the guy who cleaned up as he showed interest in our opinion of the experience.

Overall Experience: 3 stars. I think this is a place I could see myself going to again if in the neighborhood and looking for that change of pace burger. Only problem is I am a BurgerFi fan and remain so even following this visit. Best of luck to Shula's as it is a dense area with food options and can easily be overlooked.

Went with the family for an early dinner, the place was quiet and felt a bit sterile. Heavy metal chairs and some football themed graphics on the wall. The staff was very helpful when ordering at the counter, but the food was a big let down.

THE GOOD:  We ordered the BlueCheese Chips, which were tasty, but a bit cold. Nice crunchy onion rings - not greasy.

THE BAD: The main event, the burgers, were really disappointing. A couple of us ordered the signature "Shula Burger", my mom ordered the french onion and I ordered the turkey burger which was a bit dry and had a strong celery flavor. For all our burgers there was the overwhelming taste of a butter flavored spread they had toasted into the buns. It was very overpowering and all 4 of us found it off putting. We have found better burgers at Gilbert's and Five Guys, up the street on 17th. Also recently dined at One Burger and had a nice experience.

If there is one thing you can be sure of it's that aging sports figures and musicians will sell out and put their names on just about anything to make a buck. Legendary football coach Don Shula is obviously no exception to that rule,

Proof of this is Shula Burger!

Showing exactly what a sell-out tool Don Shula has become, not only is his name on the door and the cups, but he also has his name on the steak sauce and spicy brown mustard as well. And oh yeah, they even sear his name onto the bun! How tacky is that?! I was too scared to go into the bathroom to see if his name was on the urinal cakes too, so I will just assume it is.

As for the food, the burger itself was okay, nothing great, but certainly not bad. Honestly though, you can find a better burger at just about a hundred other places. I really did like the sea salt french fries. They were very tasty and seasoned perfectly.

The service for the most part was good, although when placing my order I asked how the "Shula's BBQ Burger" was. The girl at the counter said it was her favorite burger. I told her to give me that but somehow she still rang up the wrong burger. How you do that after we actually had a conversation about the burger was beyond me, but other than that, everyone was very nice and accommodating.

So basically, you can do better but you can do worse. I wouldn't go out of my way to go here but I wouldn't avoid it either.

I kind of like the idea of a franchise named after a renowned professional athlete or coach. I mean, I hope one day Lionel Messi has his own Argentine steakhouse and places one somewhere in Hollywood (Argentine food in the Hollywood area stinks). But, he has another ten years to go before anything like that is likely to happen.

Let me stay in topic: football and burgers.

    Shula Burger.

I liked it. My first impression was that it some sort of Pei Wei burger joint (Pei Wei is opening soon in the same plaza, BTW). It's like a knockoff of Five Guys, only way much better -- better service, food, cleanliness.

The workers are friendly, we were greeted by the management who were helpful with the food items. To make a memorable experience short, I ordered the Shula Burger, and I have to say, it was pretty fuckin' good.

I place Shula over Five Guys, but it's not in the same range as Gilbert's (best burger in Fort Lauderdale, IMO).

As a side note, it's located in a plaza neighbored by the likes of Chipotle and a Pei Wei (opening soon). This actually happens to be a downside to me, because I'm a huge Chipotle fan. I hope this doesn't make me turn them down in the future, but I'll see.

Just as Tex-Mex fast food restaurants are on every 3rd corner we know have fast food burger restaurants (which use to be called joints until prices) on every 4th corner. They all 'serve the best (fill in your own beef) in town but the bottom line is you order and pay, pour your own sodas, get you own silverware (at least it isn't plastic here!) and, in our case, the cashier served our food.
I watched half of our order sit under the heat lamp (there are advantages and disadvantages to having an open kitchen) long enough that the cashier/server had to worn us that the plate was very hot.
Allen had the "Big Dog" ($6.99) which is advertised as being'1/4 lb of beet hot dog, which means it is 4 ounces and isn't that big a hot dog! I had the "House of Blue" ($7.99), being a burger--didn't see the weight anywhere --served with blue cheese, red onion 'jam', the latter being very sloppy, and balsamic greens. I wasn't asked how I wanted it cooked--yes, I know the 'laws'--but it was thin enough that if you got it medium you would be lucky. We split an order of Sea Salt Fries (($2.49) that certainly wouldn't threaten McDonald's or Burger King.
I did call the manager to complain about the fries. I told him upfront that I didn't want him to change them or to take it off the bill but I just wanted him to know that except for the ones on top the rest were overcooked. He insisted that is the way they are cooked! Really? By the way both ketchup machines were empty and we had to get packets. The manager was sitting right next to that station with two other people and did nothing about the situation
We each had a soda for $1.99 each so with tax the check came to $22.74 For lunch, for a fast food place, it's a bit much but then I guess you have to pay for Don Shula's name branded into the burger bun! By the way if you don't know who Don Shula is you can read about him on a big plastic shield at the entrance/exit to the place.
I still haven't found an answer to the 'tip or not' in places like this.

This is no different than Five Guys. Their website makes the burger seem so big, but it is not and they have the nerve to charge $10 for one glass of wine? Come on. You can get a whole bottle for that price. I won't be going back

Was lucky enough to be invited to the soft opening of Shula Burger.  I've always been a big fan of all things Shula whether it be the Steakhouse or Shula's 347.  Just like everything the Don touches this place does not disappoint.  Shula Burger is a great place to get some great food in a casual environment.

We started with the Blue cheese chips and all I can say is WOW!!  This appetizer is HUGE and can be split between four.  This very tasty mound of chips came topped with blue cheese and bacon....need I say any more?  You could easily just eat this for your entree although you would probably die instantly from a heart attack.

I had the Shula Burger which came out nicely branded on the bun.  The burger came cooked medium and was nice and juicy.  The Angus, Short Rib, and Brisket gave a really nice taste to the patty and it made my hungry belly very happy.

The steak sandwich was even better - a delicious steak covered in onions and Gruyere cheese.  Definitely a winner!

We did not have room for desert, but the Milkshakes here are INCREDIBLE.  We had the superfruits flavor and it was delicious.

Overall, score another win for the Don.  This is a great place to take the kids and they even serve beer and wine here if you want to hang out and watch a game.

Knowing that anything attached to the name of a sports figure, no matter how much of a has been that figure may be and no matter how crappy the item they're pushing,it  seems to sell in South Florida, I as rather loath to try Shula's Burgers but I'm glad that I did. They have a good menu of burgers as well as other eats; the service is impeccable though obviously suffering with some of the usual new place start up problems.

Made from a blend of what I have been advised to be Black Angus beef chuck, short rib and brisket I found their burger meat to be both flavorful and tasty. Indeed far superior to the supposedly upscale burgers of Burger Fi (horrid) and some of the quick food establishments like 5 Guys, but not quite up to par with the likes of Gilbert's, ROK:BGR, Burger & Beer Joint (I really love their burgers) or with Alibi's burger cook off winners such as their Champ or Knock Out.

One real nice feature of Shula Burger is that they offer a limited but reasonably good selection of beers, several on tap, as well as wines.

Overall, it was good enough that I wouldn't hesitate to return.
