Maybe it was a bad night, but we found that their food has gone seriously down hill compared to years past. Â My husband's order had a funny taste to it and the tap water had an unusual strong medicinal taste to it (iodine perhaps?). Â For now, this restaurant is coming off our list. Â It's unfortunate as they used to make the best burger in town. Wine selection was also rather non-existent.
Review Source:You can take the 'Foo Foo' restaurants in this town and throw it to the birds! Â This is my spot when I'm here. Â The friendliness of the owner and staff is above and beyond. Â Great comfort food, and a clientele that are down to earth. Â Thank God for The Foundry and this spot... otherwise I'd say just keep right on 9 and keep going.
Review Source:This place was pretty much the epitome of small town. We stopped in here to get food before we wandered the town, and we were hungrier than we thought. Ordered, sat, waited. We didn't think to rush them at all because we figured, "We're getting out of the city to relax, right?" But that was on us as TWENTY MINUTES after we ordered, the waitress came back for the first time since taking our order to let us know that the kitchen had somehow lost our order and we'd have to order again. We kind of stared at her because we were all starving, but they gave us an appetizer on the house (which came out quickly), and the manager and server both apologized multiple times. Still, pretty disappointing.
With all that, the food was "eh" - typically oily plain - and I wish we'd stopped into one of the nicer places along the street instead. Â I wish I could give them better because they were really nice. Check-in discount on Foursquare.
while the veggie burger is certainly a tasty lunch (with a satisfying side salad and pickle wedge all for $10), the real reason i like the silver spoon is that they don't bat an eye when i walk in drenched in sweat after a long day of hiking. Â they also have a nice spacious restroom where i can change out of my shirt and wash my face. top it all off with monster drinks - like 32 oz of soda and water - and you've got my favorite late-lunch, post-hike spot in cold spring.
also, the place has a pretty decent bar.
First time going to the SS, it was a great experience. I had the fried greens beans(for the first time ever) and the patty melt. I was really impressed, the food was excellent (See Photos). Second time was ok. I had pulled pork sandwich which looked more like a sloppy joe, but still tasted great. The down side came when the fried green beans were over cooked. It didn't get better the third time I went. The fried green beans were over cooked even more than the last time, and my patty melt was over cooked. Service was great considering...the last two times I was there, the server/waitress/bartender was busting her @$$.
Review Source:We were up for a concert at the really gorgeous Our Lady Restoration Chapel. Our bikes were on top of the car ready for a new trail to explore after dinner. We ventured into town for an early dinner. The town was super cute, very laid-back. It was almost difficult to select a restaurant from the outside decor. We chose Silver Spoon because of the outside option (or, so we thought) and a great selection of fish on the menu. The wasp did not leave us alone outdoor so we tried dining indoors. The bar was crowded with happy patrons drinking beer and watching the game. It was a bit loud, but when our food arrived I completely forgot about that, My cesar salad topped with grilled Salmon was fantastic. The fish and chip accompanied by real cold slaw was pretty good also. Try the chocolate cake for dessert. Good family restaurant, fun bar scene and after-hours jam sessions on Sunday, cool!
Review Source:Silver Spoon is a laid back, home cooking restaurant in Cold Spring. I went to Silver Spoon after a day of hiking. It was one of the few places open on Easter Sunday.
For appetizer I had the Maryland Crab Soup. It was soooo good. It comes served in a toasted bread bowl. It was some of the best soup I've had lately. For dinner I had a bowtie pasta dish. Also pretty darn good.
Silver Spoon also has some great beer on tap.
The service was also excellent. I highly recommend Silver Spoon if you are in the area.
Silver Spoon extends the relaxed feel of Cold Spring with its homestyle and welcoming atmosphere.
The crab soup comes in a toasted bread bowl - a wonderful meal on its  own.  If you're still hungry, the patty melt and pasta are equally as good.  Don't forget to grab a nice cold beer from the tap!
I received a delightful GC for the Silver Spoon and finally used it...and was glad for the experience.
My giftor assured me that I would enjoy the Silver Spoon...but I just kept forgetting (bad, huh?)
So finally we were out of local options and did not want to travell too far so we had a lightbulb moment ..."the gift certificate???", and off to the Silver Spoon we went...
I always enjoy a little karma and when we were able to park right in front...I knew we'd have a good time! Â We were greeted zealouly by the owner and after choosing our table our server was prompt and charming.
We were not seeking full dinner fare so we settled on some munchies and a loaded caesar salad! Now to me the real shards of parm/asiago/romano make the salad (and of course the gahhhhhhlick) and SS sent me the bestest salad I've had locally!
I think I might stop by again!!!! Yep...I just might!
there's a new chef here and the specials are delicious. Cold Spring is a small town where many of the restaurants close early but this place is always open for good food and drinks. live music, great bar, and even play lotto while you at it. I live here in Cold Spring and I recommend it to locals and visitors.
Review Source:Wed. was Ron's birthday, and we are here in Cold Spring, NY in the dead of winter. Â Ron is the delivery guy at our place and he was born and raised here in Cold Spring, NY. Â Ron is 70+ years old. Â After a long work night, we chose to go to Silver Spoon for a drink for Ron's b-day, and we were greeted w a smiling staff, that was happy to see us. Â The place is indeed a good place, and I felt at home. Â The moral of this story is, we are all different, perhaps in age, perhaps in gender, and perhaps in views, but we shared common grounds in Silver Spoon.
