Mc Fadden's?  Where'd you head off to buddy?

It's McFadden's remarketed as more of a sports bar instead of drunken Irish drinking hub spot.  It's a cool spot.  Definitely has all you need to have a great night watching sports and kicking back.

I dragged my friends here last night kicking and screaming   It is not one of south Boston's top eateries but deserves three stars for its price, wings and atmosphere. The wings are 40 cent and they serve mini pitchers. It's definitely worth a look for some comfort food. I would have given it four stars only the burgers were burnt and definitely not cooked as my disappointed friends wanted. Still, everything was eaten and I will be back

I work right next door and I can't stand the Stadium.  Every time I went there for lunch it would take almost 40 minutes to get our food and the place was always empty.  It always appears as though you are bothering the staff with any request you make and you never feel welcome.  The menu looks and taste's as though it's the farm team for "The Four's" that will never make the majors.

Great sports bar! Their lunch specials are awesome and priced unbelievably low, and their drink selection is more than you would expect. With such a large space, you can always get a seat at lunchtime, and the pub fare and many massive TVs make this a fun place to go with friends. I haven't been here except for lunch, but several such occasions have convinced me that this place is a great option.

Everything about this place is average and generic... from the menu, to the beer selection, to the staff. Nothing is special, but nothing is horrible either. Standard bar food and a bunch of TVs, if that's what you're looking for.

I also tried two different drafts, and they tasted funky.  I'm not an expert by any means, but I do drink copious amounts of beer.  My guess is that they don't clean the lines as often as they should.

Went here with a travelzoo voucher as my last meal in Boston.

Not worth it, I ordered the swordfish tips, I'd never eaten swordfish before, but what they served me tasted like dry blackened chicken. There was a boring side of rice with some pico de gallo which was alright.

The fish and chips were better, although definitely lacked flavor, they were at least edible.

their tartar sauce sucked, it tasted cheap and really sweet.

And the deal came with 2 free sodas, not beers, which was stupid.

This place is great on weekday evenings. The bar staff are very attentive and the girls uniforms are really cute. I will definitely come back after work with my friends soon.

    This place is suck.

Terrible service from incompetent and apathetic servers.

Horrible food. Yeah, they serve standard bar food but considering the quality of ingredients they use, they should lower the prices.

Been several times with work colleagues and now I shudder everytime it is suggested we go here. So many other places in the area...

Old Colony Ave location. Review for both the function hall, and the bar downstairs.

I was invited to a birthday function at this location, but I was one of the volunteers (photographers/guestlist) so I had to come a little early. I got here around 7pm with a small group of people. Things were still pretty snafu as we were waiting for everyone else.

For a place in Boston, it was actually pretty casual. I'm used to people being dressed up wherever I go in Boston. The drink prices were pretty decent, and they had specials for $2 pints and $8 pitchers. The only thing was you're technically not allowed to bring pitchers upstairs. Which wasn't a big deal for me since I was designated driver anyways.

They also did catering for the food upstairs. It was just finger-foods like mozzarella sticks, wings, and bread sticks - but it was still something. I really liked the wings because they weren't too saucy or dry.

    Now for the technical stuff:

-The (dj) lighting system upstairs could use an update. It's too concentrated towards the front, and doesn't come from above and around enough. What happens is it starts to look like you're dancing with silhouettes.

-It says there's a parking lot, but in actuality that's like 8 spaces - most of which will be poorly parked and taken by the time you get there. There's street parking too, but it could be a hike depending on the size of your party.

-Staff seems to be temp unless you're talking to the manager. Procedures that are standard elsewhere are gray here. Communication between all levels of staff should be clearer. Waiting is a dangerous thing to make customers do while you clear it with other people.

All in all, I can see this establishment being good for watching sports and casual outings. However, they need to work out a few kinks.

This was the worst service I have ever experienced in my LIFE. Do not come here if you plan on having a drink or more because they do not understand the concept of bar-tending. F-

Would not recommend and will never go again

Pretty slow as far as service at the bar. Good luck coming here on a Sunday to watch football because it takes 15-20 minutes to get a beer. I don't understand why they don't just add another bartender.

The best thing about this place is the deals during the weeknights.

I did not care for this place at all which is a shame because it was right down the street from my old apartment.  Way, way, wayyyy too loud (and I'm no geezer, either).  My boyfriend got a burger; I suppose he liked it but he always gets burgers.  I got a steak tip salad and it was just....not good, really.  I made the mistake of not asking for the dressing on the side so it was basically a pool of dressing with some lettuce, etc. added in.  I ate the tips because they were actually cooked right.  The tables were kind of dirty but the service was good.  I just wouldn't bother again.

The service: 4 : We could never locate our waitress and she was a bit forgetful

The seating: 3 : There weren't enough chairs for a bar!

The food: 7 : I ordered a salad, it was edible... was it amazing, no.

The bathroom: 8 : ironically bathroom was most impressive part - clean, functional

The bouncer/id checker : I am not even ganna bother rating.. the guy asked me for another form of identification... really? I fly with my ID and my identity obviously isn't questioned because I look like my ID... but okay sir. Whatever, I guess maybe it's a form of a compliment and when I'll be 30 I'll look like I'm 20?

From the outside it looks like an Outback or an Applebees, on the inside it's a large dive bar.

The service was speedy and friendly and they had all of our Oregon, Arkansas and LSU games on.

Another decent bar in South Boston to visit after work for drinks and decent food. The nachos here were good and filling, and the beers were well, beers. Decent selection of beer, and reasonably priced also.

The best part is the different specials they have on different nights, whether 25 cent wings, 1 dollar sliders, or free appetizers on Friday. Recommended if you're in the area.

The only good thing I can really come up with is that they have Big Buck Hunter.

I met a big group of friends on Friday night at about 8:30 for dinner and a few beers. It was all downhill from the moment the waitress came over...(they make them wear cheerleader-type skirts that are WAY too short for the kind of girls they have working there...I dont want to see a waitresses cellulite thighs rubbing together...and the fact that they wear imitation football jerseys only added to the "linebacker" look).

I ordered calamari for an appetizer, and a chicken cuban sandwich. Well, my cuban came out about 5 minutes before the calamari (when the waitress brought the sandwich, I reminded her that I had ordered calamari too. Her response "yeah, I know"), which was actually the worst calamari I have ever had. The breading was soggy and the "meat" tasted like salty rubber bands. The cuban was not much better. The bread was soggy and the chicken and ham were bland.

I remember when the Stadium first opened a few years back, and it was usually pretty good. Now its deserted. We left a little before 10 on Friday, and there were maybe 15 people in the place. Apparently there was some kind of reggae concert going on upstairs, but if you ask me, any group for whom a bar needs to hire a special police detail isnt worth the trouble.

I know the place isnt independently owned, but I cant imagine they are making very much money considering that the Friday night "crowd" consisted of less than 20 people.

    I will not return.

Oh goodness... I love this place. The food is delish, the servers are friendly and for the quality of food you are getting, the price is pretty good. On game day it gets a little crazy which is to be expected but I am a girl so that stuff is not my cup of tea.

$2 burgers in the summer time, half price burgers in the fall & trivia night, make Stadium the place to be. Their burgers are to die for.

I deducted half a star for the awful parking situation. The lot is small so if you don't go there early enough you will be stuck having to find street parking in Southie. Good luck with that buddy lol.

I also took away another 1/2 star because of the number of creeps I have encountered there. If I an going to get hit on at any bar, I prefer the men to be under 40.

OK, so the crowd is kinda meet-markety and the drinks are weak.

But they have clean bathrooms, a good space for live music, spicy chili, and fried Twinkie sundaes! That's worth at least three stars.

I like it.  I do, really.  I can go out on a Saturday night in jeans and a T-shirt, play some darts, and drink some beers.  No fuss, no muss.  Just come here to have a good time.

Minus one star for the fact that the bartenders don't know how to make certain shots.

Came here for a comedy show. The service was so-so. The waitress was not familiar with what was on tap. In the middle of telling me the IPAs she walked away.  I went to the bar and got my own. The bartender was swift and attentive.

My friend had to go downstairs to get a drink because the upstairs bar didn't have the ingredients.

The waitress was good with food service. The food is typical bar fare. We had half price apps. The nachos were my least favorite, topped with melted shredded cheese, too much canned salsa, sour cream, canned jalapenos, and what appeared to be guacamole made from mix.

I would come back. Nothing to write home about, but not bad either.

Out of the many bars in this area, I have to say that Stadium has the be the best place in South Boston! The staff are very friendly and the ridiculous amount of tvs keep me from missing any red sox games.

Now the level of food quality in many sports bars has taught me to keep my expectations low but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised with the food here. They have a "Black and Blue Salad" which is seriously amazing. Usually I just bypass the salad section at a bar for fear that they are just using leftover bar garnishes but this one is extra special.

I read another reviewer complaining about the quality of tvs but they were all in HD so they must have upgraded since his last visit. All in all, whenever I'm lingering in South Boston, this place has always been a great restaurant to go to.

I thought this would be a good place to watch Game 6. Wrong! Appearently the staff forgot that the Celtics were in the NBA finals and didn't add any extra servers for the night.

We waited 30 minutes for our 1st pitcher of beer! And the server seemed annoyed at us for asking where it was after 20 minutes. "somebody was supposed to bring that out" she claimed and walked away. We had the chicken bites, which were good, but way over priced for the tiny portion you get.

Finally, most of the TVs were fuzzy, some were not working at all. I was hoping for a better showing from a sports bar.

Great place to watch a game.  The menu is typical bar food. The nachos were big for a single order, but had some weird tasting ranch sauce on it and not beans for some odd reason.

The Coor Light is only $3, good place for a beer and a game.

They have a parking lot and Triva on Wednesdays at 8.

Went here last night for Trivia.  Good place to do trivia. Enough tables to sit with your friends, but enough competition to make it fun. Small parking lot behind it was helpful, though I got the last spot. Not sure where I would have parked otherwise. Guess I would have walked from the T.  I didn't eat, so can't comment on the food, but the stuff at the table and others around us looked promising. Pizza's seemed big and Nachos looked good.

Last night, they were out of pretty much every beer. No IPA, no Sam, no Corona. They had Corona light. What? Isn't this a bar?  They said their shipment was supposed to come in tomorrow. Now, I feel badly for the wait staff when this happens, because they have to listen to all the drunk idiots get mad at them, when it's not their fault. But, I feel like the manager should have run to the liquor store or something.  Being out of three staple beers struck me as pretty odd.

Anyway, the atmosphere is good. Typical sports bar, but spacious and clean/bright looking. Waitstaff was fine and wearing  cute little referee outfits. I think our waitress was in training. She'll do fine.

A decent sports bar in South Boston near Andrew Square.
Full bar and menu, spacious dining and bar area, plenty of flatscreens, and weeknights offering varied amusing games.  The waitstaff has always been decent.

This bar has gone through some changes recently.  It's still a good sports bar, but the female waitstaff now has referee-style uniforms...  knee-high socks, short skirts, and striped tops.  It's a little annoying in a pseudo-Hooters way.  The female bartenders seem to try hard to flirt which, while I understand it's probably a managerial initiative, is annoying.  It's just not my scene.

The food is ok, a standard pub menu (decent nachos, sandwiches/burgers, and salads).  Some amusing martini/mixed drinks straight from P.J. McFunsters chain.  Great view of all the tv's and games when they're on, and we've never had an issue finding seats.  The interior is really nice and well kept.  Wednesday night trivia was always fun.

All in all, if you're in the neighborhood it's a respectable sports bar.

I've only been here once but i will probably be back, so this review could change, but i feel pretty good about a 3 star review.

I was here on a monday night, the dining room appeared to be empty but the bar had a few groups of people in it including some rowdy irishmen. It seemed like a good crowd for a cold monday night. The main reason i expect to be back is that the bar area has an awesome TV situation. Big tv's on every decent sized surface. This is pretty much the most important thing in a sports bar, and they got it dead right.

The beer selection is completely standard, there isn't anything on tap there that will excite a beer person, but the pours were 20 oz and tasted clean. The menu is standard bar food. I had clam chowder; it tasted like pretty much any clam chowder at any bar in boston. Definitely hit the spot, i wasn't expecting to be blown away and i wasn't. No harm no foul. My date had BBQ wings, which were kind of small and the sauce tasted, again, pretty generic. Kind of dissappointing, honestly, but not offensive. They'll do in a pinch. Service was fine, the bartender was doing card tricks all night but was pretty quick with a refill.

I would come here again to watch a game and drink some beers, and i'll probably try the pizza sometime, but the draw here is that it's a decent looking place with nice tvs.

I just returned from this place this evening... could I be more disgusted and angry?  Probably not.

My boyfriend has gone to this place many times, both with me and with friends from work.  They enjoy the food and the atmosphere, and I don't mind having a few beers on a Saturday afternoon while the baseball games are on.  All in all, we had decided this was a good little place to go that wasn't too crowded.

Tonight, we decided to stop in after an event we attended in Wilmington.  We sashayed up to the bar and took our usual spots right in front of the center TVs, and after a few minutes the bartender asked us what we'd like.  She asked for our ID's, and we handed them over and continued talking about the Sox game.

The bartender really scrutinizes my boyfriend's ID in particular. Note that it's an Indiana ID, given that he moved here not long ago after graduating from Purdue.  She gives it a look since it's a little beat up, and asks for another form of ID.  We then hand over both a credit card with his name and his old Purdue ID with his picture.

The bartender retreats to the end of the bar to speak with someone. After a moment, the bartender returns to inform us that she cannot accept his ID.

    Uh, what?

I ask, rather confused, why the ID is unacceptable (especially since we've been to the Stadium, and carded, many times before!).  She tells us that her manager has declined to accept his ID, which totally confounds us.  I ask to speak to this manager to find out exactly what the issue might be.

The manager comes over, and I immediately ask what's going on.  She tells me that she can't accept his ID because it has no hologram.

    Uh, what?

I incorrectly stated at first that the Indiana licenses don't have a hologram - the old ones did not, the newer ones do.  Indiana ID's have a valid barcode (which was not scanned at any point in time) and a hologram of the same image you find on the Indiana state flag.  The Purdue ID we offered had his picture as well, and obviously the credit card has the same name.  For reference, we're both 25.  Neither one of us looks like we're under 21, although we might like to think so.

She again states that no hologram means no alcohol service.  Does she actually check for a hologram?  No.  Considering the place is dimly lit in the first place, I expected her to check with a flashlight like bouncers often do.  No dice.  After trying to reason with her for a minute or two and realizing that she had no defense for not serving him and still did not plan to offer him service, we left in complete shock.  Of course, the first thing we did was put the ID under the car's interior light.  Yep, there's the hologram!  It's &%$#ing magic, lady.  Really!

After going to this bar on weekends for the last few months, we've never once had trouble with his ID.  Ever.  So why tonight, when there's only 20 people in the place anyway?  Who knows.

What I do know is that this bar is not worth the trouble you'll get for service, no matter how low your expectations may be.  After recommending it to our friends and visiting often, this kind of thing is an utter disappointment.  The food is pretty good and their beer specials are very decent, but it's definitely a big price to pay considering that you'll be treated like crap.

3 valid forms of ID, dozens of visits, and with one frustrating night you've definitely lost our business.  Sure, he plans to go get his MA license as soon as his work schedule allows... but I'm sure us and our coworkers can find a much better establishment to visit.

I have been here a few times before but just to drink so this review is about my latest experience. While service is okay the food is boring and blah. We got their nachos- which I don't think is something that is really hard to screw up. There are good nachos and then there are great nachos and these were below average. A lot of chips were not covered with cheese, clearly jarred salsa, not much sour cream, no spice.
Service is pretty much always good there. They have pretty little waitress run around in ref uniforms- enjoy guys.
We went on Tuesday- Karaoke night. It was sad to watch the guy who lugged all his equipment in try to get people to sing and no would would, at least not for the hour+ of Karaoke time we were there. However, any sympathies were quickly squashed down... he was BLASTING his music. I think they got the point after a few glares from me at song changes.

The location of the stadium is a little sketchy when you don't know the area, but the atmosphere and devor inside is really nice. This place is fairly large with a clear bar side and a clear dining side.

The food is good and you get a lot of options. There are also numerous TVs, on both sides, and a good beer selection.

Interestingly, the trivia is on the dining side, which is fairly uncommon for Boston trivia. This place has a lot of regular teams, many of whom have matching t-shirts made up with their names on it. This makes it hard to win if you aren't a regular yourself. But is really laid back and fun.

Good Bar, Good food, prices are fair.  They recently tried to spruce up the menu and added good pizza.  The only reason its not 5 stars is because the service is very inconsistant.  Sometimes the staff is very nice and other times very rude.  Sometimes the food comes out instantly and other times I have considered leaving I waited so long.

The Nachos here are really good and they have the $10 Bud Draft pitchers.  Good place to go for dinner on a random midweek night.

Came here on a girls' night out & had a pretty good time.  It's a very comfortable environment - whether you want to sit in a private booth or shimmy up to the bar.  They have enough of a selection of beers on tap, though if you're looking for something other than the average Sam, Guinness, Bud Light, Coors Light, you will probably not find it on tap.  The bartender was extremely friendly & accommodating (there was a bachelorette 80s group there so he played some 80s music for them & as soon as they left, changed it to something more fitting).

The t.v.s are decent - clear & placed everywhere (even in the bathroom), though do not expect any sort of audio of the game.  The food looked alright but the prices seemed a bit high for bar food.  They have perhaps the largest order of nachos I've ever seen so if you're bring friends if you want to order that.

The customer service in this place is awful.

I was here for Week 17 of the NFL season last year.  If any of you can remember, 2008's Week 17 was probably the most exciting Week 17 ever.  There were five games with playoff implications and the Lions were fighting to stave off the possibility of a perfectly crappy season.

First, the waitresses flat out refused to change the television from a Colts game with no playoff implication to the Lions game.  Then, she said she would, but didn't.  Then I asked to speak to the manager, the waitress said she was the manager (insert jerk-off hand motion here), and she said she'd do something about it but didn't.  Then I finally talked to the man in charge, and he changed it immediately, and apologetically.

I have been here a few other times in the past, and it's pretty consistent that the staff just doesn't seem to care.  I guess it comes with the territory since their available talent pool (and ensuing customer base) comes from the projects across the street.  Every time I am dragged in there by some Southie or South-of-Boston friend cluster, I cringe and wonder why we're not going to Tom's English Cottage a few blocks away for less pretense, more authenticity, pool, darts, Big Buck Hunter, colder beer, and more attentive service.

I can't give this place one star because the physical establishment is well-maintained and well-designed.  I would love for either A) the current owner to undergo trepanation or B) the place to be sold to someone who cares about how their customers feel.

Okay, I see the wide variety of opinions on this place and I have to interject. There are not many if any bars of this kind in south boston so maybe that is why ppl are so easy on it. I went there last week 9 randomly ) and my nachos were all cheeze wizz!
The servers dress in these tiny skirts and sports socks up to their thighs. Granted, this is a positive to some but they do not do their job unless their job is looking like a skank. Its like a glorified chilies with all the cheese ball names for their food and everything!
we were unimpressed, better off driving 6 min away and going somewhere in the s end. or even Shenanigans up the street.

Sick of the East Side, we came this way to catch a game.

This time, the bar was packed, shoulder to shoulder, the bartenders were great, we randomly ran into some friends we know---  Buuuuuuuuuuut story-wise, my roommate was offered a seat to sit down by this guy, who we later found out to be one of the managers... After hitting on her for ten minutes, realizing it was going anywhere after 1. telling her she was beautiful, 2. offering a job, he then became a complete jerk and was quite rude, so we left.

The stadium is a great place to hang out and watch any sport you can imagine.  The atmosphere is good stuff, although just like any other bar no less southie bar, drunk bros can get a little out of hand...whatev.  It's also very southie atmosphere, no need to dress up its better to wear a torn red sox top, a pair of jeans, and work boots which may or may actually be the boots you wear to throw up dry wall  at the local construction sight.

The bar staff is really chill and helpful, although the last time I went I tried to alter my meal slightly (I am a weirdo) and they were really apprehensive which I found weird.  Also they changed their menu and I liked the other alot better, give me a petition or something!!

I love that they have food other than typical bar stuff, and actually throw in some regular resteraunt goods...overall good for most occasions...other than hot first dates.

After BDD scrimmages in Southie (Joe Moakley park) we usually head over here for a beer or two and more importantly - food.

Last night I shared some spinach dip (yummy, but a not enough for the amount of chips given) and loaded cheese fries. fries + cheese + sour cream can never be a bad thing in my book .

As for the bar - its clean, large, has alot of seating, nice bathrooms. my only complaint was that there were some meat heads that did some hooting and hollering and well, that's just not appreciated.

The Stadium. Never a bad seat in the house!!!!  The best damn sports bar... period!!

The Stadium, one of Southie's news venture's, has come a long way since its former self, Kelly's Cork 'n Bull.  The Stadium is a sports bar and grill with exposed-brick walls and 30 plasma televisions.

Extensive martini list and build-your-own appetizer platters. Known to females for its famous tiramisu martini, but little else, this is the Mecca of sports bars in Southie!!!  The menu is built on pub classics like the burger and tips.  The waitstaff is hip, young and very friendly!

The stadium offers entertainment too.  Game Night on Mondays from 7 - 9, where you can play XBox 360 on huge 42 inch plasma and compete to win prizes. Trivia on Wednesday nights!!! And on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays half price appertizers!!! Fridays and Saturdays the kitchen is open to MIDNIGHT!!!!

If you are looking to throw a function the "Clubhouse" is awesome!! The atmosphere is amazing. Offering a separate entrance, lounge, dance floor and two bars is a perfect setting for any type of gathering, guaranteed a fun & memorable experience.  2 projection screens and built-in ceiling projectors.  The Clubhouse is a vibrant backdrop for fun cocktails, great food and dancing from 40 to more than 280 guests.

Open Sun-Thurs from 11 am-midnight, and on weekends until 1 am. Kitchen open til 10:30 pm.
