Went in on Monday night and was shocked to hear they were playing some amazing Heavy Metal... Chad (bartender with the crazy Mohawk ) has a "metal Monday" theme for late night... Incredible tunes, bar was packed full of very "happy" people... Great vibe, and as always food and drinks were fantastic.. Love this place now a little more that now I know I can have a steak and hear Iron Maiden... Nice job Chad and Franklin
Review Source:I love the Franklin in southie. Being a south end girl I have always liked the Franklin over on shawmut but the southie location has won me over. It's much largerer and a different crowd. Scott I believe the tall and charming bartender is a doll, he apparently works both locations, he just makes everything perfect. The cucumber Collins is my new summer cocktail, though everything I've had there is great. I love the steak tartare, lettuce wraps and oysters are always great. I only took away a star because I hate trying to find parking. When it's super hot and gross out, cold/snowy or rainy I'm not walking. Also there is a slightly hipstery bartender we once had who was terribly rude, ignored attempts to get another drink and yelled at me for having my purse on the seat next to me even though the bar was rather empty. Maybe he was hung over or something but whatever my favorite bartender and the good food and drink with great prices for Boston makes this a favorite.
Review Source:This was my favorite restaurant in Southie, but unfortunately it has consistently gone down hill. We have given it several chances and it gets worse each time. The menu is very limited and seems like a Winter menu. The best appetizer was tuna tartar, but they did away with it. We sat outside and there was bird crap, that had been there a long time on our table. The place wasn't crowded at all, many tables available outside, and it was a sweltering hot day. Â After looking at the menu, we decided not to drink our meal. Â The waiter was clearly pissed and said that in order to sit outside we had to eat. So, we ordered fries. How can you mess up fries? Â I'll tell you, the bottom of the frying pan, tiny, crunchy, greasy & overdone. I feel like I've lost a good friend. Franklin Southie, please come back to me.
