This place has fantastic breakfast tacos.  We come in here most Saturday mornings and get the tacos to go.  They are so large and at a great price.  I can feed my family of 5 for under $20.  My wife also love the barbacoa plate.

It's hard to find authentic Mexican food in Sugar Land, although the city is littered with Tex Mex joints.  Fortunately, we stumbled upon TMGB!  And what a satisfying experience!

I opted for tacos a la carte:  shrimp, al pastor, and grilled steak.  They're topped with the typical onion cilantro and the flavors were delish!  Would def order them again!

The mister got the Diablo Fajitas which came with chicken and steak, drizzled with their 'diablo' hot sauce, which I didn't care too much for.  It was no comparison to my yummy tacos.

Their margaritas were strong.  Service was friendly.  Reasonable prices.  Casual sit down ambience.  Would recommend if you're craving real Mexican food and don't wanna venture into Houston.

Well let me start by saying that was and used to be very in love with this place because of their good food and cheap prices. But it was a killed lately by its staff and who knows what new chef came in. Couple months ago we came in and place was almost full I mean that was a first time
Ever. They had like 4-5 tables dirty with dishes and we stood around for 10 minutes at door so they can clean the tables and we could sit down. 1 waiter said hold on a minute ill take care of you after 15 or so minutes. Kept waiting qife and kids were having enough and was like in my head ok 5 more minutes. Then another group came in and the 2nd waiter that didn't even make eye contact with us walked to the group. Pulled them to a dirty table and cleaned it out there on the spot and they sat down. Walked out of that POS. well months passed and was so craving the food one day so we decided to try again maybe it was just staff issue that time. This time we for some fajita tacos that meat was not even marinated or seasoned so tasted like i just bit it off a cow.  Fried breaded fish we ordered we got was not breaded , looked like it was just thrown into some jack in the box dirty oil pit. And finally we also had seafood mixture soup and was horrible. Nicely told guy in charge wife didn't like the soup can we get something else cause it tasted like can or just not well done. Guy said " sorry because u tasted the soup now we can't put it back"  even if it was on the table it shouldn't be pit back. And how the hell were we supposed to know it wasn't good without tasting it?! He said " I'm gonna have to charge I half of the price for that just to let you know. We said whatever and got some tortas at least something simple and can't get easily f"Ed up.
I was planning to to pay for the soup at the end but guy realized we were pissed so didn't charge and now this is what they get in return from Yelp.  Hope this helps ya out

Terrible service. Terribly bland food. The chili con queso might has well have been water with a little milk and yellow food coloring. That is what it tasted like.

Food is reasonable/cheap, service is always friendly, and its not just your server who checks on you, all the servers are helpful and friendly regardless of if youre "thier" table or not.

i normally get quesidella grande for like $6, last time we went there i was REALLY craving tortilla soup- and i was curious when i couldnt find it on the menu- they said they could make it for me--- WAY more that what i had expected, i had ordered a taco al carbon to accompany it, but ended up taking the taco and half the soup to go. The soup had everything in it, and totally hit the spot. took a bit longer and i had to sit and wait longer the others at my table-- but it was steaming hot and way worth it.
not sure what we ended up paying for this giant bowl of soup, but honestly, i dont care- it was that good.

its been awhile, but a few times weve gone in and there has been live music-- ask the older guy to sing its a wonderful world-- it was great:)

I thought I might have found another good Mexican place in Fort Bend county when I saw Mojarra Frita on the menu.  But nah I'll stick with the Tex-Mex but good El Vaquero in Stafford.

Bland salsa and overly salted mojarra.  A+ for actually serving authentic Mexican amongst the plethora of Tex Mex restaurants in Sugar Land but hey, make it tasty please.

This place is located slightly above Town Center in Sugarland, in a strip mall over by the Baby Depot, on the left feeder road next to US 59 North. Spacious parking, not as hectic as Town Center/First Colony, but the drivers are selfish and reckless in this area in general.

The atmosphere, was laid back super casual, wooden booths and wooden tables, but quiet comfortable, the bar is located to the far right, with a mass tv screen mostly on sports, but the volume was very low, so it was more of a  background visual than a distraction. My friend and I sat at a far booth, all the tables were clean , but  we and another customer was there and that was it, but it was 3pm!!!

the server came right away, greeted us and gave free chips and salsa and queso and menus as well. She ask us our drink order as well. my friend order a dr. pepper, I order a mix drink ( adult beverage) with Don Julio, couldnt get it because the bartender wouldnt be there until 4pm( I guess when happy hour kicks off)end up get a frozen Rita, which had a kick  to it, which I wasnt expectimg!!!

The menu is very very very long, at 3 full pages back to back. I was overwhelmed with the selection, so I just went off the pictures instead of the descriptions. My friend went with a classic beef enchalada( misspelled) with rice and refried beans) I followed her same footsteps and order a beef  burrito with chili and cheese(#20 on the menu) with rice and refried beans. The server gathered our menu quickly and brought out  the drinks soon after.

We tried the salsa it wasn't good, it was stinging hot with a white vinegar finish, it didnt have  the sort of classic salsa taste my friend and I love. The Queso dip was watery, but it was miles better than the salsa, so when the server came back we asked for the Green chili salsa instead, she brought three different variety( the darkest of the three was best, but stinging hot )

We got our food within a 10 minute wait give or take a few mintues. the dishes were hot and steaming( so were the plates be careful). The portions are good size, not so big that you wish that you had a second stomach, but not so small that you know you will have to eat again within the hour. The first thing i attacked was the burritto itself. The chili to cheese to beef ratio was great, the taste was good, the meat was tender and bite size, the texture of the burritto was soft, and edible, but as I dug more into it it was alot of more breading to meat to cheese ratio, so thats when i started stuffing my rice and beans into it plus a little green salsa for a little bit of heat just to jump start the palate , to balance it out again. My friend said her dish was great, she finished it with a ten minute span.

All the staff pretty much took care of our table( two cute old lady came in after the other customer left and one dude at the bar and thats was it until about 5pm). The older gentleman server was very nice and always asked nicely were we finished before clearing the table( I though he was cute when he started singing a traditional mexican song that came over the radio, when he thought no one was looking, he has a nice voice too).

Overall Good Place Great Staff!!!( Clean Bathroom, according to my friend)

    Two Entrees: 6.99  each
Soda: 2.50 ish  ( endless refills)
frozen Rita: 5.00 ish ( came right  before, but gave me the same deal)
grand total: 21.00 dollars  with tip: 25.00 dollars

My favorite mexican good place in Sugar Land!!  Great food, very modest prices, authentic mexican dishes and you're staple Tex Mex dishes available as well.  We go here at least twice a month.  My only compaint is the service.  It's hit or miss.  When it's really busy, they tend to be very slow.  But the food is just so good every time!  We've introduced several people to el Mexicano and they all keep coming back!

If half stars were available, I would give it 3 1/2 stars.

We have been here several times.
The place has friendly service.  Food comes out fairly quick.  It always seems pretty packed when we go.  The prices are CHEAP!
There is complimentary queso and chips and salsa.
Food taste though is just average.  There are so many choices on the menu, maybe I just haven't discovered the right thing to order yet.
Will we be back - yes, probably!
    Very casual dining!

This is the place to go for cheap mexican food and some alcohol!

Service is GREAT! There is someone asking you if everything is okay, filling up your water, and attending to you almost every 5 minutes.

The free queso is not good, it's more like yellow water. BUT the guacamole is really good and fresh (hence why it's not free)!

I really liked my sandwich, and the people I was with really enjoyed their plates (the portions are big).

My new go to place for great Mexican food at great price.  My family and I ate for $25 dollars (not counting tip).  I had standard Tex-mex meal actually called Tex-Mex it was two enchiladas, taco, rice, beans, and salad for $7 something.  Wife loved the Al Pastor meal for $6 something, and son enjoyed his $6 chili re-llano meal. All of the food was very good with good spice and seasoning.  The atmosphere was cozy and pleasant.  The place was clean.  FREE queso while you wait.  The staff were all very friendly and constantly checking on how everyone was doing.  This place was awesome, so much more than expected, so many choices, so little money, such good food.  If you are in Sugar Land and love Mexican food, this is a must try place.

This was our first visit here. We thought we would try it because it was close to where we were, had good ratings and excellent pricing. We were not disappointed.
The place is small, but the tables are not so crowded that you end up sitting in someone's lap.
The menu is extensive with lots of choices. My husband had the Tex-Mex dinner, which included a taco, 2 nice large cheese enchiladas, beans and rice.and a small salad. My son loved the chili relenos, I tried a bite and it was very good. I had the al pastor which is a combination of marinated beef and pork, served with beans, rice and your choice of tortillas. I never thought to have such good food for the price. The highest priced dinner was just under $8.00. along with the fresh chips, salsa and queso it was a very good dinner.
    We wil definitely return.

Small place in a not so noticeable venue. However, good food and good prices. All in all a good experience.

Every time I come here I love it more! 1-2 times a weekday night. Always good and tasty. Wait Staff and everyone is Awesome.  If you get your BVD's in a wad, move on; this ain't Franchise TEX-MEX, this is real.  You want trendy, go to Mickey D's......  I have never been unhappy here and the people working here are real, not fake and snobs!  Food is WOW.  If you can't find what you want on the menu, tell 'em, they take care of you!  Clean, neat, personal, second home.

The previous reviewers are definitely suffering from grade inflation. I've driven through this parking lot maybe over 100 times going to all the other restaurants and stores in this shopping plaza but had never noticed this Mexican restaurant. The reviews on yelp are authentic but inflated.

The service was very friendly. The restaurant is clean with a very oversized bar. There are several large TVs showing football games, so if you like that (which I don't) then you'll be happy. You are immediately served with chips, salsa, and complimentary queso. The queso is the consistency of water and lacks flavor. The menu is extensive with every possible combination you might think of which makes for lengthy reading. I finally gave up after reading 50 different combinations and just asked out waiter for what I wanted. He was very accommodating. I ended up with a combo plate of a chicken enchilada, chicken flauta, and chicken crispy taco. My husband ordered the chicken enchiladas. Our food came out quite fast, amazingly fast. The flauta and crispy taco was ok but the chicken enchiladas were covered in a luke warm thick brown gravy. The gravy wasn't very tasty. I found a huge toothpick buried inside my flauta. I was glad I found it before I accidentally swallowed it or stabbed myself with it. The rice was just ok and a bit overly sticky. Everything was cheap but just average in taste. The friendly service certainly helped the evening. Our two combo plates and two sodas was less than $19.

I wasn't impressed at the end of the evening when one of the bus boys put a tray filled with dirty dishes on our table (while we were still sitting there) while he cleaned another table. Sure, this place is casual, but that's ridiculous. This place wasn't bad but it was definitely sub par. I don't think I will be back.

This restaurant is on my list of most frequented.  I have tried many of the things on their menu and most of them are great.  I really love the soups in particular.  Their cheese enchiladas are good as well.  You can also get fajitas for a reasonable price.  If you are looking for a frozen drink, I just the mango margaritas, just ask to have them extra thick.  Like a few have said, they give free queso in addition to the salsa every time you sit down.  They are always quick, and very inexpensive.

Good Cheap Mexican food.  That sounds like the ideal that we all strive to find.  Generally, it's in a hole in the wall in not the best part of town, and never in the expensive confines of Sugar Land, until now.  And generally cheap means cutting corners on the meat portion, so you can have more cheap rice and beans instead.

Taqueria Mexicano Grill & Bar changes that axiom.  First of all, it's in an upscale shopping center in Sugar Land (Home Depot Area, next to Outback Steakhouse and Jason's Deli and when you look at the hours, the first thing you notice, it's open for BREAKFAST????  That's not the norm, so then you look at the menu.  Most items are $5.99, $6.99, with only a few items above $10.00 each.  My wife ordered the Sopa de Res (Beef Soup), and expected to see a minimum of beef.  We were extremely surprised when we saw the large amount of beef in the soup, (see photo) along with the whole vegetables with it.  Taste was excellent.  My son ordered the Carne Asada, which he said was extremely tasty.  I ordered the Carne Guisada, substituting the beans for extra rice (see Photo).  The Carne Guisada was exceptionally tender and well seasoned, and the rice was perfectly seasoned.

Generally we all expect to see chips and salsa as a free appetizer in a Mexican restaurant, but the extra they provided was chili con queso as well.  The consistency was good, but not exceptional.  But since you generally pay extra for this condiment, no complaints were made at our table.

    (Insert cheap movie cliche here)

    We'll be bauck!

I was really pleasantly surprised by this place for two reasons.  The first was that my mother picked it, and she doesn't live in the area and tends to like things that I don't.  The other is that it was breakfast time.

I ordered flautas and queso (not breakfast food, but that's what I liked about it--it was early enough to be breakfast but early enough for a broader menu).  It was delicious.  The service was good, the food was fabulous, and the only complaint I would have is the crap they had playing on the TV.  Other than that, it was great.

This has to be one of my favorite places for breakfast and lunch in the Sugar Land area. The food is consistent and very reasonably priced. As mentioned in previous reviews, while you wait for your food you get FREE queso! My favorite here is the chincharron tacos and the agua de melon.

Surprised about a couple of things - that I'm the first to write a review since I've had a couple of friends say the place is pretty darn good, and surprised at the quality and value.

Stopped in for lunch, and was looking for something as healthy as you can get as a mexican restaurant and the wife and I both opted for the lunch chicken fajita's for $5.99.  That price would help explain why the place was full for a Wednesday lunch.

First, we were presented with chips, salsa and queso (what?  Free queso?!?  My wife was sold right then and there).  Loved the salsa - nice heat.

We requested both flour and corn tortillas.  Both arrived with our meal and smelled absolutely wonderful.  We were not disappointed with them being hot, freshly made and simply delicious.  The chicken fajitas were served green peppers, onions and tomatoes cooked with the chicken, refried beans and rice.  The fajita's were really good - beans and rice were typical mexican restaurant fare.

We left with a full box of leftovers to go - very generous portions, but they did charge for additional tortillas.

Bottom line:  we look forward to going back with the kids and trying more on the menu!
