Thai On The Beach

I hardly give 3 star and I have eaten in many Thai places. Pad Thai is sweet even after I asked for extra spicy. Masaman curry was nothing more than coconut curry.  If you are not foodi with exotic food experience, it's good for you. Fried rice was very good.

The first thing you will want to know about this restaurant is that it is extremely small. We went for a birthday dinner and it was a party of 10. We were the only party there and there was NO way another party would have fit and no way they could have fit more than 10, so if you have that large of a party, make sure you make a reservation. Other wise, it's small 2 person table all around. I don't think it's good for kids in a large party because again there is not much space. We had a 4 and 2 year old and that part was a bit stressful. I can't give it less stars though for that because I didn't choose the restaurant but my mother in law told me it was going to be small. Now if just my husband and I went with our son, then it would be totally fine. As for the service and food, it was great and delicious. There were only 2 employees working (tells you how small this place is) but they got to us in a timely manner. We had all kinds of sushi, green curry, whole snapper, duck, chicken wings, fried rice, miso soup & more. Not one of us complained of our food, we all thought the food was amazing. In fact we couldn't stop eating and walked out of there overly stuffed. I will definitely be going back with a smaller party. As for parking, you are lucky to find a spot behind the building and have to pay for it on a busy night, or they say you can valet, but when we arrived, we saw no one to take our car.

Right off the bat I'll preface this review by saying it's 3 stars for the food, plus an extra star for reasonable prices and a great location if you're staying at one of the nearby hotels.  Okay, now that that's out of the way...

We stopped in here for dinner since it was within walking distance of our hotel and it was reasonably priced, especially compared to the over-priced restaurants at many of the hotels.  We started with the edamame and golden shrimp.  The edamame was overcooked which was a bummer.  It also could have been seasoned better (I love my edamame covered in salt).  The shrimp was good, a lighter dish than I was expecting from something that's fried.  However, the filling was a bit bland and could have used a little something extra.

My husband ordered the Hawaiian fried rice for his entree while I went with Fresh Ginger with Tofu.  The vegetables were cooked well in my dish and it had a nice kick of ginger.  However, the dish was very saucy - it would have been even better if they had cut the amount of sauce in half so the vegetables weren't literally swimming in it.  Overall this is a nice place with attentive service and great prices for where it is.  It's not the best Thai food I've ever had but definitely better than I was expecting to find in the area.
