Located in the lobby of the B Ocean Hotel, directly across A1A from the beach and Atlantic Ocean at Sunrise Boulevard, a great setting and backdrop for a fabulous time.
A rare, 5-STAR review, because: Â
* Tried Zipang Sparkling cold sake (a waitress rec) and it was OUTSTANDING! Like champagne ($22)
* I like Miso Soup, this was the BEST I've ever had. Fresh, Fresh, Fresh, with vibrant scallions and excellent broth ($4)
* The SAIA-Rita is a "skinny" hit with muddled lime and jalapenos ($10), make sure Joejolie makes it, Karin was smitten
* BBQ Lamb Lollipops were AMAZING! This was the most tender and deliciously seasoned lamb I have ever eaten, bar none. Addison's Restaurant in Boca just got dropped to #2 now. ($17)
* Bartender recommended the Fire Dragon Roll and it was a hit, too! ($19)
Loved it, all around. A little pricey for the area, but I will be back. After you leave, stop by McSorleys and tell 'em Steve sent you: <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fbit.ly%2F14S8lYS&s=b7bdecef7bffac8b702474bfc60672537babbff43a0e8708082f2ed07d51b906" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://bit.ly/14S8lYS</a>
Cabeza OUT!
If I could use one word to describe this place it would be pretentious. When we first walk in there was no hostess and so one of the bartenders called over and told us she would be over. Not once but twice we were asked if we had a reservation. Um no and by the looks of it we don't need one since people were at only about 7 tables so why ask that. If we had a reservation we would have said so. We tried the spicy edamame (first of all its not spicy and second of all it really was just seasoned) and three sushi rolls which were awesome but overpriced at 15 to 17 dollars a piece. The salmon tempura and tropical rolls were awesome. The knock out roll was good but way too much jalapeno. I order rolls with jalapeno regularly so its not like i cant handle it. But i like to be able to taste my sushi too. We tried 3 different drinks off the specialty cocktail menu, all of which were awesome. We are huge fans of spicy anything but every time we ordered something spicy off the menu our waiter warned us. Um dude we can read. Our waiter was attentive to the point of annoying. If we have questions we will ask. You don't have to explain the menu in detail like we are children and you don't have to hold our hand as we eat. And it drove me nuts he pronounced salmon as SALmon. Maybe it was the accent but when you have multiple items on the menu featuring salmon you should know how to correctly pronounce it. I was so tempted to correct him but restrained myself. Â Even if you are trying to be a high end sushi restaurant know your locations and your clientele in the middle of laid back Fort Lauderdale beach.
Our total bill came to 95 bucks for 3 sushi rolls, an order of edamame and 3 drinks. Really? Â That's a bit ridiculous. Â If this place lowered its prices for the rolls a couple bucks I might give it another shot. Otherwise it is only worth it at happy hour.
We are staying at B Ocean and since we are unfamiliar with the place and lazy to drive somewhere else with the rainy weather me and my husband decided to try Saia. The hotel gave us a free voucher for the sushi of the night, which ended up being California roll (cheapeast roll).
We ordered the following:
Sushi/Sashimi/Roll Combo (1 rainbow roll, 3 nigiri tuna, salmon, shrimp, 6 sashimi tuna, salmon, white fish) $40 and it doesn't seem fresh.
California Roll - rice seems old
Mongolian Bbq lamb chops - small serving but this is pretty good
Tempura Fried Banana with coconut ice cream is tasty. We asked for more ice cream and the server gave us a cup of ice cream, yum!
Only 3 stars because this is a sushi restaurant and they can't serve fresh sushi. Very disappointing.
