Two friends and I decided to visit Tigin's for some late evening drinks.  The place was almost empty.  The atmosphere was more pub than restaurant, but that was o.k., since we really came to drink.  Our waitress, although fun, didn't know much about the beverages on the menu.
We ordered some different beers, and a couple house specialty shots.  The shots were fantastic.  The waitress was leaving for the evening and asked us to close out the bill with her.  Not a problem, but we were completely ignored after she left.  We did order one serving of garlic fries.  They were good.

Good, albeit typical stateside Irish pub. I stop by at least once or twice every St. Louis trip. Great outdoor patio area for being outside and people watching while enjoying a pint.

Don't know about the rest of the week but I arrived shortly after 9am on a Saturday and they were open, the yelp page indicates they don't open until 11am.

The inside is nice and open.  The service was pretty good.  They have some tasty local beer on tap.  I would give them 4 stars but I'm not a soccer fan.  I didn't really know that this was a soccer based bar until it was to late.  They don't have a lot of TV's and the ones they had were strictly for soccer, no cardinals game no basketball playoffs nothing.  So needless to say I ate my pulled lamb French dip sandwich, and guzzled my tasty beer and left.  A little emerresed I brought my boss here with the table that rocked back and forth and they didn't have the game he wanted to watch.

This place looks tired and touristy. I mean, it's attached to a hotel. In that setting, what can you expect, really, other than a restaurant/bar that's kind of boring? To compound my poor impression, much to my chagrin, I was served a not-full-enough glass of wine for almost $8. Not OK. There are just so many other great places in STL that have a lot more authenticity and flavor, but if you're looking for someplace fast and easy, and don't care to work very hard for a good night's meal, you could go to Tigin.

Decent food, but more expensive than I expected.

Okay.  We ate here because it was in the lobby of the hotel and it was freezing outside.   We should have ordered Domino's or maybe even room service (although room service probably uses the same kitchen).  The burger was super salty and the boxty thing was super bland (which may be how it's supposed to taste).  We also had some other beef thing that didn't taste that good. Maybe we should have drank more or maybe the right game wasn't on.  Alas, two stars.

Me and the group that I was with are really not sure how this place has 4 stars. Maybe we just went on a bad Friday night. We went in expecting an Irish Pub feel. And, aside from the decor, there was really nothing Irish Pub-ish about it. It had a laptop dj playing pretty horrible music... way louder than it needed to be considering that the place was more than half empty. The drink selection was ok. The prices were toursity, but it is attached to a hotel building, so that's expected. We did not try any of the food (which may very well be good!). The service was ok though. We stayed for one or two drinks and moved on. I would most likely not go back to this "pub" if I were in the area.

I was staying in the Hampton and stopped in for a late dinner upon arrival.  The staff was very nice and attentive.  The pulled lamb was very, very good.  If I lived in St Louis, this would be 'my bar'.

Went for lunch. Friendly service. Had the Irish all day breakfast. Would go again.

This place has a cool atmosphere given the mostly-business-hotel neighborhood, and the fries with curry cause didn't set me wrong. The corn beef and cabbage was average but saved by an excellent mustard cream sauce. Great selection of Irish and British draught beers. Wouldn't go out of my way to come back but I wouldn't mind ending up here again either.

awesome service! great food! fun times!

    beef boxty - delicious
shepherds pie - to die for
lamb french dip - very tasty; lamb flavor without the gaminess

my wife, mom, and son liked the fish and chips.
my wife debated that the mac and cheese was better than her own.

Hit this one up twice while in town for a business training! Checked it out on day 1 because it was the first place we saw, then made it a point to go on day 2 because we enjoyed it so much!

I really enjoyed this place. Very nice bartenders and a great beer selection on tap! Very quick service from the bartenders. My buddy plays here on Wednesday nights, so stop in and check them out! The place has a nice European bar ambiance and TV's with soccer on usually.  Food is actually quite decent for being a bar!

Tigin looks rather unassuming on the outside.  However once you step through that front door you feel as though you're walking in off the streets of Dublin, not St. Louis.  Decorated in typical pub fashion with various European-styled nick-nacks adorning every wall.  The dim lighting and all wooden bar made it a very warm, inviting atmosphere on this chilly night.  Various soccer banners also hang around the bar area, making me yearn for some World Cup soccer.  Instead it was a college football game, but you gotta take what you can get.

We selected a seat at the bar, where they had little hooks to hang our jackets on (or purses for the ladies out there.)  We were greeted by the bartender who introduced himself as Nate and even took our names as well.  He remembered our names throughout the night, which I thought was very nice.

I ordered an old fashioned which was poured strong, the kick of Jim Beam punching my taste buds with each sip.  My wife elected to grab a beer.  They have a good mixture of imports, local, and traditional American brews on tap or in bottle.

We asked him for his appetizer recommendations and we actually wound up selecting what he mentioned.  First up was the Smoked Salmon bites and they were amazing!  Perfectly balanced smoke flavor with a subtle horseradish sauce that just melted in your mouth.  My wife is not an avid smoked salmon fan, but even she loved these tasty morsels!

As the second appetizer we ordered the Corned Beef rolls.  Corned beef smothered with a not too overpowering mustard sauce, rolled tightly into a boxty, and finally topped with sliced cabbage across the top of it.  I would highly recommend these rolls to anyone!

Overall the food arrived quickly and was everything I could hope for.  The service was top notch,  the staff were all very friendly.   I look forward to coming back here for a full meal in the future!  Who knows maybe even during the next World Cup I can catch a game here.

I can't imagine this place having a 4 star rating.

I came here after working a Rams game to grab a beer and get a bite.  The bartender ran around in circles in a frenzy.  It took a ridiculous amount of time for me to be greeted.  I got a beer and he was professional enough to shake my hand and introduce himself.  After that....this visit sucked!

It took me at least 10 minutes to get a menu after I got my drink.  I finally found what I wanted...took 10 more minutes to get his attention to order it and then be told that they were out of corned beef.  An Irish restaurant out of corned beef at 6PM?  I rebrowse the menu as I finish off my first beer.  Bartender?  Bartender?  Bartender?  Where the hell is the bartender?  Oh!  It's shift change...now there is a new bartender who is ignoring my empty bottle pushed up to the beer trough and my closed menu waiting to order.

I couldn't even get a check to leave.  My beer was $3 on special...I hope they didn't expect tax on the sale, because I left exactly $3 on the bar and walked out.  The bar is very small and wasn't even full.  I will mark this place off of my list of fond memories on a road trip.

It was good for a late night drink and snack after the Cardinals game, but I probably wouldn't go there for a nice dinner. Nothing against this place, but it was loud and the servers looked overworked.

solid pub that just happens to be inside of a hampton hotel.  darker interior lighting in a traditional irish pub layout, meaning sectioned, mix of high & low tables, shelves with books and other home items that serve as dividers.  big focus on draught beers & irish whiskeys.  bartenders are great, attentive & informative.

west side of the bar contains the tables, etc., whereas the center & east side is the bar area.  there is a small (2-3 stool) bar on the west side.

wooden bar top with no rail.  beautiful taps in the front center of the bar that really stand out.  stools with no backs, & unfortunately no foot rest.  the bar back is well done.  not sure what are in those drawers (not sure the bartenders know either), but they slam the hell out of them when trying to find something inside.

very good pub food with traditional eats.  atmosphere is pretty subdued with a mix of locals and travelers.

Fun place to have some drinks and food.

Its a modernized Irish Pub. Lots of good beers on tap and lots of good food. Our server was a little slow but not bad. The place was expensive though. I would come again.

Visiting from out of town and needed a place to watch Chelsea play so stopped in around lunch time.  It's an official soccer bar, which is really cool, but the location could be an issue for anyone not staying in the area. My server was awesome, not just because she was a fellow Texan but she did a great job. Ordered the Blackened Chicken and Shrimp Boxty and it was great. The cheese sauce was really tasty and added a great flavor to the potato pancake. My only issue is the shrimp tastes frozen and they could cut them in half to make it easier to eat. The mixed veggies are carrots and red onions, not great on their own but with the cheese sauce they were tasty.

No complaints, would definitely visit if back in town.

It's amazing how the right server on the right day can make a meal that much better. Tigin had such a server last Monday. Charming from the start, her sweet accent, good timing, promptness and wit took what would've been a broadly pleasant patio lunch into the stuff good days are made of.

Operating from the lobby of the Hampton, this micro-chain outlet has a number of seating options and is certainly large enough to serve as a meet-up or party place. Outside, there's a semi-enclosed section as well as a small number of tables. Inside, there are a couple of different spaces, each distinct, intimate and pleasant, not unlike scenes from every good pub story you've ever heard.

So, do you come here or go up the street to the Dubliner when in search of an Irish-inspired pint and plate?

    Either.

I preferred the cozy confines here to the loftiness of the Dubliner and had better luck with the staff too (the Dubliner hasn't ever been a problem, it just seems more business-like). The food at both includes mostly sandwiches and staples like fish n' chips that are good and comfortable. Tigin's main weakness, if you even want to label it as such, is its location. As a destination, it's fine but it's a short drive or longish walk to the main bar strip on Wash Ave for those planning to hop. The Landing is a short walk, but note that you'll have to go under highway 70 to get there and the sidewalk/path may not be the best in spots.

Went here for the first time a week ago with a friend for some brunch. It was nice sitting on the patio right by the Arch! Cool location.

Order the Breakfast Boxty. Just do it. it's one of those things that you just won't understand until you try it for yourself. I plan on going back and will probably get the same thing again, it really was that good. My friend happen to order the same thing and had the exact same opinion of it as me.  And if you wanna be cool like me order some mimosas with it and get your day drinking on. Then follow it up with a Captain & Coke.

Note: this review is from late 2010 - it sat in draft status in my yelp account until just now.

On a business trip, I was walking around and saw this place and decided to give it a try.  It was a quiz night and I really liked the atmosphere that created, since I was sitting by myself.  They had an exceptional belgian beer, which I drank while I waited for a quite delicious shepherd's pie.

The food experience was a notch above what I would usually expect from an irish restaurant while the atmosphere was loud, raucous, and generally fun at the same time.

I have been here four thousand times in four years it seems like, but its at LEAST been 400 for sure.  The best sandwich here is the lamb french dip, and they also have lamb sliders with bleu cheese, which is pretty tasty.  I always get the bleu crunch salad with grilled chicken, its got bacon, candied pecans, bleu cheese, and something else tossed in a balsamic vinaigrette, I highly recommend this.

They have an outside seating area that is really fun to people watch.  The Guinness is the best pour in STL.  The staff is nice, Jen is one of the best bartenders, JD is great, all the staff is the best..

I always have a great time here, which is why we have been back a billion times!

Again, It is more like 3.5 stars rather than 3 stars. It was more than just an OK.

    The service
You came in the restaurant and sit wherever you like. Once you sit down, the server will come and take your orders. We got a male server who seems like to talk but not in annoying ways. He was friendly and quite a character. We enjoy his companion

    The food
I ordered Tigin special burger. It was pretty good. The meat was a bit salty but that's  how i like my meat. The potato wedges was crispy and not too damp. It is better than a normal fast food burger yet not good enough for signature homemade special burger. My friends order pulled lamb french dip and he likes it a lot. I tried for a bit and it's pretty good. However, I can still smell the lamb so I am not too eager to try the second bites.

    The atmosphere
Just like a normal pub. It was weird that we ate our lunch at a pub feeling restaurant. It would be better for dinner with more relaxing atmosphere.

    The location
Situated close to the arches and convenient. Parking would be a hassle. But it is not difficult to find and convenient if you are walking

The place has a friendly atmosphere and attentive server. It is strategically situated on the ground floor of the Hampton Inn hotel but the server told me it has no association with the hotel-chain except renting the space for the restaurant. We visited the place during Saturday lunch time which is the time when there is a live soccer broadcast from England.

The signature Pulled Lamb French Dip sandwich is tasty and delicious, it comes with the signature wedge cut fries that cooked perfectly.

I did my Yelp! Research and wanted to find a really great Irish Pub. I read the reviews , but I must have over looked the fact that it is IN a HAMPTON INN hotel. That's right it's in a hotel. I wish I would know that.

It's a step up from an Applebee's food wise, and somewhat small. They were out of the special by the time we got there, and the bartendar was nice, but was really busy talking to regulars to refill our drinks.

Food was okay, Staff was okay, but it wasn't anything special.

I've been to Tigin quite a few times and really have nothing to complain about.  We usually have good to great service, and it's a nice spot to hit up before a Cardinals game.  We've always been there for good weather and enjoy sitting outside.  Sucks to have traffic right there, but it's the price you pay for a little sunshine sometimes!

First off, the cheese dip and wedges are to die for.  If you like cheese, and you don't get these, you must be a moron.  Trust me.  Eat them and be happy.  I haven't even tried other apps, because these are too awesome to stray.  For entree, I usually stick with a standard fish and chips, and I can't remember ever having issue.  Granted, I'm usually drinking, and we don't entree it up every time, so take that as you will.  I do have to add that many a friend rave about the boxty varieties.

I'd seriously go just for a sit outside and some cheese dip.  No joke.

Imagine it: a warm day after the Cards day game with a great friend...while on what turned into a long walk to find a good bite away from the ballpark hype, we had a preference for an outdoor table to enjoy the sun & decided to try Tigin since it wasn't packed. Blue Moon on tap was visible at the outdoor bar.  It seemed to beckon .

The food was perfect  and hit the spot.  Their Blue Burger rocks.
Irish fries (heaven forbid we call them french ) were interesting. .. more like thin cut potato pancakes. Loved our server's description with his Irish accent. Charming.

The service was attentive, prompt & highly recommended.
Looking forward to returning next time in St Louis which might be sooner than later.
    :)

This is as good as it gets. Seriously. As good as it gets.

I have been to so many Irish pubs in the States since I've been back from Ireland and there have been a very select few that get everything right - I'm talking the food, the service, the Guinness, the Irish decor, and even the Irish-accented owner (I think he was the owner at least - either that or they even go all out and hire a faux Irishman with a friggin awesome accent. Either way, mad respek.) who comes around table-to-table to see if you're enjoying your meal. Man I loved this place. I really can't over-emphasize how truly nice and helpful our server was and how he really knew what he was talking about when describing the Guinness and the food. I highly recommend any dish with the lamb!

Yup, like some other people have mentioned, this had to have been the best Guinness I've had since I was in Ireland - they really do know how to make it here. Even those at the table who "hate dark beer" finally knew what Guinness is all about. As our server reinforced to them and what I know all-too-well, "Americans don't know how to serve Guinness!" Indeed they don't. At Tigin? Well now laddy, that's a different tale altogether.

I love Tigin! Best Guinness in town, with the perfect pour every time! I can't tell you how many other places mess up/don't care about doing it right.

We come here often on summer weekend nights when free outdoor concerts are taking place at the levee. They have all your Irish stables. And frankly I don't know why you wouldn't order off their specialty menu. After all, they are an Irish restaurant. The corned beef dinner is meaty and juicy; the bangers and mash is imo the best in town. These sausages always surprise me! You bite into them and realize they are actually quite moist, not your run of the mill American Irish restaurant offering.

Food is not cheap, but imo they are very reasonable considering the qualtiy and portion (we never get sandwiches so not sure about the size of those). The restaurant is well kept, and I love the large patio at front. It's perfect for people-watching and chatting with a loud group of friends.

Call me picky, but I know my Irish pubs.
Plain, plain, plain.  The Guiness was very stale.
Bartender informed me they change their Guinness keg only every 45 days...
    Yikes!!!
The pub steak was decent but the potatos that were served with them was a really small portion and just had no flavor.
The woodwork inside was very cool though.  You can tell they put a lot of effort into how the place looks.  But in the end, a good irish pub has to have a little more than dark woodwork and a couple Irish beers on tap.

Apparently, I am a man of influence.  Tigin has _finally_ added the lamb sliders and lamb french dip to their menu!  I'm so freaking happy.  Admittedly, portions aren't huge and the french dip is a bit expensive ($12.95), but it's wicked awesome.  At least I think it is.

And after not coming in for months, we've managed to come in 4 times over the last 7 days.  Which also means I've had a bounty of Guinness as well.  And I can truly confirm that this is the best Guinness I've had.  Not just in St. Louis, but anywhere (still haven't been to Dublin though...)

The food is pretty much on-par for Irish pubs. For the uninitiated, this means don't come here if you're on a diet. Seems pretty similar to other pubs like the Nine Irishmen in Vegas or any number of indistinguishable pubs in the Gaslamp District, but far more reasonably priced. Even the salads were pretty good.

Service was very good, though I was immersed in reading stuff for work or answering emails (hey, what else do you do when you're alone on a business trip?!). Refills came without being bothered about it, check came promptly, etc.

Like most places downtown, this is best experience by coming in a group, drinking heavily, and enjoying the big game. I have no pallete for beer so I won't comment or rate it.

Oh, and for us left-coasties, smoking is allowed in bars. Yeah, I forgot this is the normal everywhere except California (but I wont' mark them down for it).

My mom and I were looking for a good Reuben sandwich around 5pm, to cushion our systems before going to my cousin's wedding reception. The place up the street couldn't, or rather wouldn't, serve one after their lunch hours, so we bailed and came here. The cheerful (and cute!) server was more than happy to bring our Reuben, along with an order of their lamb sliders. O.M.G.!! The Reuben went largely ignored as we fought tooth and nail over those things! ("Mommy, you wouldn't take food from the mouth of your starving son, would you?" *CHOMP* "Oh. Guess you would...") Tender, succulent, albeit a bit salty, and served with lamb au jus, the sliders are a perfect foundation if you plan to sample the many draft beers and fine scotches and whiskeys they serve.

Fun, classic Irish pub atmosphere, complete with flags and innumerable TVs showing sports. I would happily come back. Heck, if I'm in the area, I'll definitely come back for those lamb sliders!

I only drank here and their beer list was extensive.  On Tap they have the usual suspects that you would expect from a Pub: Guinness, Harp, Smithwick's, Bass, Newcastle Brown Ale and Boddingtons.

Some additional European specialties:  Stella Artois, Carlsberg, Bitburger Pilsner,Hoegaarden, New Belgium 1554 Black Ale, Strongbow Cider, Leffe High Gravity, Bitburger Pilsner,

And a very good local St. Louis microbrew: Schafly Pale Ale

Oh, and Bud  & Bud Light too (this is St. Louis after all).

Decor is warm and welcoming.  Lots of dark wood and warm lighting.  Everything is new, but it felt cozy.

Service was exceptional.  The waitperson was able to describe the difference between the various beers and make recommendations.

I'd go back next time in town...

I've been to St. Louis four times over the past month and each time I've stayed at the Hampton Inn Gateway Arch, where Tigin is located. After having a particularly long day on the job I decided to just walk downstairs instead of heading out of the hotel.

Penn State also happened to be playing their NIT semi-final game against Notre Dame this night. Being in town alone, I took a seat at the bar and asked if they would be able to turn the bar TV to ESPN 2 for the game. I was told they couldn't change the bar TV, but that another TV in the room could be changed. Normally I would say that is all well and good, but nobody in that area of the restaurant happened to be watching this particular game, which was kind of annoying, but at least one TV was changed.

The bartenders are definitely trained in pouring a proper Irish pint of beer. They may not have waited three minutes in between pours, but it was close enough, most places just pour and serve. I ordered the Sheppards Pie, it was good, nothing to write home about honestly, but it was a good meal, filled me up and I was satisfied walking out.

If you are staying at the Hampton, or any of the several hotels in the area hit up Tigin, especially if you want some good beer, the food probably won't win awards, but you won't walk away dissatisfied.

Literally hours after I stepped off the plane, I was in Tigin's for Mardi Gras.
Ok, so it was way more drinks than hours by the time I graced their door, but in the fuzzy haze, what stands out the most is the boxty quesadilla. Yeah, that and the huge 40+ year old that was hitting on me like I was goin out of style. . .
Even in the stupor, oh I knew I was having greatness. Boxty is made up of potato, most likely run through a ricer and fried up like a tortilla. Fill that with chicken, cheese and a fine tangy sauce and you have a Drinker's Delight.
Friendly, fun Irish pub setting and good food? Shit, I may just move in.

Tigin Irish Pub is a great place to go and have a nice and refreshing beer, and something to eat as well. The food is great. I actually went and ordered the Smithwick's Mini Burgers, which I enjoyed and to tell the truth I ordered because it had the flavor of one of my most favorite beers, Smithwick's. The burgers were nice and tasty. Later I ordered the bread pudding. I must say that it was wonderful. Each bite that I had was perfect. I don't order bread pudding often, but if it taste like what Tigin made it, then I think that I will have it more often.

Tigin also has a nice little selection of beers to choose from, it is after all an Irish pub.
