Ugly hookah lives up to its name. Outside looks nice and hip, while inside looks like a bomb cleared up the place. The service was ok, not the greatest. When we moved to a better table, we were told that we had to move from that table if she received a bigger crowd and mind you, we changed places from a 4 seat table to a 4 seat couch. Very unreasonable if you asked me.

This is by far the best hookah bar in Chicago. The customer service is incredible. MJ makes the hookah smoke great from start to end. The girls serving there are very quick and extremely friendly. The place is lit up and not dark like most others. There is no loud music. They play most the games on huge tv's. Best place to smoke hookah at.

Sooo my bf is in love with this place because according to him they have veeerrrry good hookah... Me being not a big hookah lover I see the place for all the other things that it...doesnt provide me.

It is cleaner than it used to be, but it would for sure use more clean-ups. Their bathrooms are no longer as awful as they used to be, but not amazing. The cards that they give you to play with are diiiirty and leave your hands black, I kid you not. Yes thank you for providing complementary cards to use while there, but investing 50 cents, even a dollar for a new deck once a month isnt going to break the bank.

One thing that I really like, their smoothies are made in the house and are veeerryy good. Have one for sure!

They have nice hookah's. The one we got smoked good at first, but then began to burn my throat and also my the girl I was with. No one ever came to check on us. They'll charge you $2 for each water bottle you brining in. Totally unacceptable. Alcohol would be fine I guess, but other location have no such charge. The atmosphere is a bit strange. You'll see gangsters and commercial people. It's very bright in there and open. The seats are not too comfortable. We were there for about 40min and left. I will never go back.

Been Going to Ugly Hookah Cafe with my husband Devin and our best friend Tom for as long as I could remember.  I love going in there to smoke me some great hookah. Plus it helps when you know the hookah master himself lol. But besides that ugly hookah has a great selection when it come to hookah . I usually go for the mix fruit or whatever new experiment they have and it never is disappointing.  The only thing that we find bad about the place is after they hookah is brought no one really comes back to see if you need anything like more coals for you hookah or even something else to drink. And then when your ready to pay they put an extra money on the bill for the waitress when honestly the last time we were there our friend the hookah master showed up and asked us if we needed anything. not the waitress and when they put her tip on the bill they took it off. Because we are not going to tip someone who never helped us to begin with. other then that problem it's a great place to chill with friends and relax.

Ive been here a few times with a previous boyfriend and some friends. It is a nice hookah bar despite the name. they have comfortable chairs and card games as well as Arabic music playing. The ambiance is intimate, relaxing and casual. top it off with some Arabic tea and you've got yourself a night!

Nothing special.  It's okay, there are defiantly better places in the area.

If you're into a less traditional more urban hookah joint, this is doable.  If you don't care so much about the ambience and just want a good hookah you should check out this no-frills cafe.

    Err where to start..

It's close to my house, i like trying out different hookah bars, so i come here once every two weeks.

I don't really like the decor. The hookah is the best thing here!
Usually I frequent "Alibaba" on Lawrence and Pulaski. Alibaba's hookah is not as good as it used to be to Ugly Hookah is better in that category..

This place is Mehh I guess.. =D

Ugly Hookah is just that plain UGLY,
    Why Sugar Coat it.
It is ugly smelly and old.
Not really what I am looking for on a Friday ,Sat or Sunday night.
I dont know why my friends brag about it, its basically Oscar the Grouch- looking ugly, dirty and ancient. The backyard sofas probably have mold and are so old your ass could probabbly sink right thru them.
And if u have been in there recently you will know that they no longer offer food. But u are more than welcome to stop by 7 eleven and bring your sesame seeds and chips.Regardless, I still dont like this palce or understand what the fuss is about, yes its open late and yes it has wi-fi,but the hookah isnt even decent; and it should its  HOOKAH Lounge.

This place is great if your looking for a quality hookah .
Due to Chicago laws they cannot serve food anymore but they let you order Pizza and other delivery out as well as BYOB .
They have a very mixed crowd which I like and a huge variety of Juices, sodas and drinks. Free Wi-Fi is also included.

The guy who prepares the Hookahs has been there a while and really knows how to make them right. Be sure to ask his recommendations he's like a wine specialist accept for Hookas. LOL

The waitress service is so so. Depends  the girl.

You wont find any better Hookah in the area unless you have someone from the mid east sending you a private stash of (tumbac) AKA flavored tobacco

My boyfriend and I were browsing Yelp looking for a hookah lounge to visit and we were both in awe to see this place receive such great reviews.

It looks like an over-crowded cafeteria full of underaged girls looking for attention and a crap load of gangster wanna-be Middle-eastern dudes straight out of high school.  Besides the lack of ambiance and the not-so-pleasing crowd the tobacco was TERRIBLE.  It had no real flavor and started to burn almost immediately.  I would never go to this place again and recommend that nobody else does either.

Only been there once but i loved it. The hookahs are not expensive and the food was amazing. You must try to kefta plate (sp on that!)  I went with a few friends and we had a nice chill time. The server we had, Renata, was really sweet. My friends and i loved her! I'd definitely like to go back to this place again.

I'm a loyal Ugly Hookah goer. The previous place I went to closed MUCH earlier and after finding out the place closes at 4 in the morning or so. My friends and I have been coming here regularly for the past few months. The tobacco is good-like everyone else says there's a large selection of flavors that you can mix and match, the food is good and the kitchen stays open late. The service is slow at times a lot of times it depends on the waitress but it's a small price to pay.

this is the first and so far the only hookah cafe i've been to.  it may be the only one i've gone to because i don't really want to go to any other place.
    this place has free wi-fi!!!
the service is a bit slow at times but there really is no rush when you're lounging around on what looks like your grandmother's wicker chair smoking out of the hookah.  the menu doesn't have the many different tobacco flavors but you name it, they probably have it.  you can even combine flavors for a yummy tobacco cocktail.

i do not smoke cigarettes but i make an exception for cigars and hookahs.  i think it's because i don't inhale.  haha.  i just taste the smoke.

the food is alright for late night munching.  i get the kabob sandwich (the meat is really tender).
they're opened until 3 or 4 in the morning so it's a nice place to just hang out with friends.

I was excited when this place opened but I regret to inform the Yelp crowd that the best thing about Ugly Hookah Cafe is it's name. The food is very mediocre, on a good day, and their prices are nothing to rave about. Having been to a bunch of different hookah bars I can say with certainty that the shisha selection here was lacking, as well as lacking in flavor. The servers were very nice, but very slow, and the place had kind of a dead atmosphere. For being so close to Northeastern U they had very few young people in the crowd. This might be explained by the abundance of hookah cafes in the North Park neighborhood and the unspectacular nature of Ugly Hookah Cafe.

Only been here once, but definitely DO want to go back!   Even though the service was super slow (but friendly) and they slipped a couple things on the bill we didn't order.  That tells you how GREAT  the food was!  Seriously loved it.  I didn't get a hookah, but they're $20, so, next time.....

Been there only once so far. The shisha (hooka) was good but the food was not good at all. The service was ok. The atmosphere was fun. They had some good music on.

One of my best hookah experiences yet.
They opened September of this year.  I'd started going beginning of December and been stopping in since, many times.
Hookah, sheesha (spelling unsure), is great.  Always a great treat, never harsh or inconsistent yet.  I was thoroughly surprised that the hummus and Baba ghanouj are very tasty and satisfying.  Next time will have to have hummos w/meat.
25 Hookah flavors.  Almost any combination you can think of, they say.., they can accommodate.
I like that waitstaff are always around and present.  Also that different people have different duties.  Its not all piled on the server, there is another person that maintains the hookah and makes sure that everything is working fine.
The room can suit maybe 100 or less comfortably.  Single wicker cushioned chairs and love seats.   A flat screen on opposite walls pumping out popular middle eastern pop music videos.  They are open till 4am!  Take reservations online at myspace, their email addy and by phone.
I remember another patron telling me that on weekends they may host belly dancers or a Dj in the future.
