The Walnut Room is my favorite pizza in Denver. Â It's thin and fairly crispy, which is how I like it. Â And my favorite topping is green olives, which many places do not offer. Â
I would give give The Walnut Room five stars except for a couple things: they need more craft beer on tap, and the place is quite small so sometimes it's hard to get a table. Â However, I love the place because of the pizza (the garlic bread is excellent too) and they have a great patio. Â If you like thin crust pizza and haven't been to The Walnut Room, get there ASAP!
This place is usually quite busy, but bartenders are friendly, and service is expeditious. The food is very good, and the pizza is recommended if you enjoy thin crust. Frequent live bands, most of them good, play in a separate room. The sound system is better than average. One of my favorite bars in Five Points.
Review Source:Though it won't be the best pizza you'll have in Denver, it's worth going to. Love the location and it's usually not so crowded during the weekdays. The pizza slices are huge, flavorful, and the thin crust is perfect. I wouldn't recommend going during their busy hours because you definitely will not receive any "service" since everyone is busy busting their butts to fill orders. If you go on a slow night, the staff is friendly and even suggests their favorite pizzas.
Review Source:So I just moved to Denver, in the RiNo district and been really busy, so I didn't feel like cooking. Â Wasn't sure what we wanted to eat, just knew we didn't want to go anywhere, so searched for delivery places close. Â Turns out the Walnut Room, which is a bar, delivers! Â Awesome! Â Â Searched their menu and read some reviews and decided we would try it out. Â Called in the order, person I talked to was really nice, told me the order would be delivered in about 35-40 minutes. Â We ordered a 14" margheritaville pizza and a cow town sandwich with a side salad, ranch dressing. Â First off, delivery did not take 35-40 minutes, it was delivered within 25 minutes! Â The pizza was plenty big enough for two and it was delicious! Â Was not something you would expect to find at a bar. Â The salad was great, what ever kind of dressing they use was delicious. Â And then the thing that really made me happy was the cowtown (french dip) sandwich! Â I have been looking for a good french dip sandwich for a long time now. Â And so far every place has been a let down, whether it be the bread used, how the meat is cooked, or the au jus. Â You can't have a good french dip with an au jus that is chicken or vegetable based! Â Just doesn't work! Â Well, not at the Walnut room! Â Their au jus was actually a yummy salty-beefy goodness! Â I did ask for white bread, but they gave me wheat instead, so that is one down side, but the bread was still good (and healthier than white), beef cooked right and just the right amount of cheese. Â It was great! Â I was sooooo happy to finally have a good, no, great french dip sandwich!!!! Â My fiancee and I were very happy with the food we got from here. Â Thank you Walnut Room!!
Review Source:I came here with a group for pizza before last week's Yelping in Candyland event and was pleasantly surprised by the pizza! And by pleasantly surprised, I mean this is honestly some of the better pizza I've had in Denver!
My +1 and I ordered the Iron Maiden which is the three meat pizza. The crust is super thin and cut into squares. Unless you want leftovers, I'd suggest ordering a size down. We ordered the 14" to share which is what they suggest for 2-3 people. However, we would have been fine with splitting the personal size.
The only disappointment was our server. He was pretty slow, even before the place got crowded and rather rude as well. That said, it's not enough for me not to return for some more of their tasty 'Za.
I've been here a few times for a variety of reasons and have always had an OK time. Had many a great night enjoying live music, or hanging out at the bar or having a couple of slices.
Though I always felt the service was a bit off here, I think it's worse now that they have gotten rid of the counter where you used to order food. Now you have to get a too-harried server to get your food and it seems to not only take a long time but you also get very brusque service. Not the best if you are in a bit of a hurry.
I think the Walnut Room is a difficult place to work well because it works at a lot of cross-purposes. It's a music venue. It's a neighborhood bar. It's a pizzeria. So you got these huge crowds blocking up all the space as they wait for the music venue to open. And you have servers trying to wrangle some people who only want to drink and others who want more of the full service they would like at a sit-down restaurant.
I do like Walnut Room. And they actually have great pizza here. I just wish it thought a bit more about the logistics of how it was going to handle everything before it closed the order counter.
I had a slice of pizza here recently after seeing the menus on the bar at Mile High Spirits. The Fat Sully's slice truck was supposed to make an appearance at MHS but had truck issues, so we were without food. And we wanted food! First, my group decided to order a few slices and a whole pie, so I called and listed off the items we wanted, and then was told there would be a 45-minute to an hour wait. Since The Walnut Room is only a few blocks away from MHS, we decided to walk there instead and hopefully eat sooner since we were all starving and the wait went down to just 20 minutes (plus no delivery charge, though it's minimal). When we arrived, our food was ready. My slice of cheese and mushroom pizza ($3) was burnt and had a charred, crunchy crust. Kind of a bummer but I was so hungry I ate it anyway. I had given them my card over the phone for our original order, and even though I later called and canceled our delivery order, when we got to the Walnut Room, everything had still been charged to my card. It seemed like too much of a pain to split it all up, so we didn't but the waitress seemed a little awkward about it. There were a TON of specials - daily, happy hour (I think twice per day) and more - on their menu, many of which looked appealing to me. And I love pizza, and I love this neighborhood, so I'll probably be back.
Review Source:Boneless Wings are hot! Service not so much... I would like this place a lot more if the staff was not on auto pilot. No personality or engagement, and the food is just okay, but it would be so much better if it seemed the staff gave a flying.... well that would at least be something to watch.
Review Source:I've been here for pizza and I've been here for a show. I can say that this place does them both well, but I'm not blown away by either situation.
It's been a while since I had the pizza, but I remember it tasting pretty durn good. Except, well, there were all these people hanging around waiting for a show to start, so it was crazy crowded. The show I saw here was pretty dang awesome too. Except, well, there were all these people hanging around eating pizza, so it was crazy crowded.
The problem with this place is that it's too many things in one space that's just too small for all of the things.
The actual concert space is very intimate with a white sheet for a backdrop, which I really liked, to be honest, because what we saw that night was very local and very raw. The space is also about the same size as the bar outside and it was nowhere near capacity. I don't know if that's a common occurrence, but it seems like they could maybe take some of that space and add it to the outside area.
Overall, this is a good place to get pizza and a nice place to see a show. Just don't expect to find a quiet, intimate corner. In fact, don't expect to get more than 2-3 square feet to yourself.
The walnut is good because it's a little off the grid not ever crazy good food good drink specials, dog friendly patio. Â I have not ever ate it but one of my buddy's likes to go there because they have gluten free pizza so its a good place for us to hit up, only thing I don't like is the way they cut there pies Detroit style squares but all in all you wont be disappointed
Review Source:We (TIffany W, Carly B and Kate G) were hanging out ad using a Living Social deal at Mile High Spirits last week. Post-workout, I was starting to get pretty ravenous. We saw people having pizza and sandwiches delivered to them from The Walnut Room and opted to place an order. Since the order was going to take 45 minutes to 1 hour for delivery for a place that was 3 blocks away, we decided to walk there.
Upon arriving, we paid and then sat down at the bar to eat our meal quickly. I ordered a white pizza with sundried tomatoes, artichokes, and spinach and it was delicious. The place is very neatly decorated with a comfortable interior. Lots of tables and a full bar. I would definitely like to return and have a pizza and a beer. The menu offers a broad selection sure to delight veggies and meat-eaters alike.
I actually went here to hear an old friend's band, but caught up with another friend before the show for a drink and some eats. Â
Now the pizza smelled wonderful, but the other person in my party wasn't feeling pizza so I went with wings and loved them! Â Very hot (right out of the fryer) and a good spice without burning your tongue. Â Plus the side carrots and celery seemed actually fresh! Â No droop here. Â
As for the band space, it was cozy. Â I am not sure how many tables they have in there (maybe a dozen) plus stools along the side and a bar of its own back there. Â It is great because you can really see and hear the artists and if it was like the night we went they sat in the audience and listened to everyone else on the bill, so you get to meet everyone. Â
It was a nice laid back environment! Â If it was at all close to me I would drag the hubby all the time!
De-licious! The pizza is perfectly done.. thin crust, right amount of toppings, excellent taste. The service is always super friendly. Â They are laid back but so attentive. Â The house salad (which normally doesn't do anything for me) was actually quite tasty. Â Simple, crunchy croutons, a little cheese. Â Perfect before a pizza. Â
I'm in love with the JB pizza. Â I'm not sure I'll ever order anything else b/c I'm a creature of habit. Â But if i get a wild hair and do so, I'm sure it will be just as tasty!
What I had? Â Don Ho Pizza (Smoked Ham, Pineapple, Tabasco and Fresh Garlic
Food review: Â Ok, so I lovvvee Hawaiian style pizza but once again, I was a little nervous to try Walnut's variation of it. Â This time around, it was quite a success. Â The tabasco added to the sauce made a great combo.. kind of a sweet and spicy deal. Â Oh.. and the crust... incredible.. light and crisp. Â I was quite satisfied with it.
Service? Â OK for how busy the place was.
Other thoughts: Â For as nice as the place looks from the outside, I was hoping for a little better beer selection. Â That being said, I think it probably has the best beer selection out of the music venues I've been to so far in Denver. Â Man, I've been having some really good pizza lately. Â :-)
Great pizza, even better place to see live music.
I've been here a handful of times to see small local acts and have always had a great time - the music venue is in the back and is separated from the rest of the bar, giving it a small-club type of feeling. Â The sound system is fantastic in that little room - everything from from folk/singer-songwriter to rock'n'roll sounds good through their system. Â
Staff has always been friendly. Â Go check 'em out, you'll be pleased you did.
Such a great music venue! Good pizza and a solid beer selection. (Okay, okay, I will say that about anywhere that pours Titans....) Really friendly staff, too!
I don't know much about music, but the one night I came here all three bands gave a shout out to the sound guy for making them sound so good! Assuming he works at the venue, that's another plus!
The bar/dining area is teeny tiny and gets super crowded before a show, but I imagine that's alleviated in the spring and summer when the patio is more hospitable.
There's an itty bitty parking lot, but if there's a show, you'll need to find street parking.
What a nice and well ran venue for local and non local bands.
The food smelled fantastic!
I sat with the open band chimney choir, which is a local band. The vocal and sound was a nice folk and unique feel.
Then when you think you have a genre they throw in a rock border line metal(so small you might sit by family)( which I did!) then back to a total different type of music.
Throw in my last drink for free... Thanks walnut room!!
I'm with the band.
Dreamt of being that girl since I watched stovepipe-trousered Beatles flee frenzied birds with bouffants. Since Diane Lane rocked skunk hair and panties over fishnets in "Ladies and Gentlemen, The Fabulous Stains."
Since Pamela Des Barres wrote her memoirs, one and two.
And as a girl with the band, I'm fully and first-person qualified to tell you The Walnut Room plays topnotch host to the acts booked to play there. From the elevated stage (and drum riser), to comp guest list, lights and Randall the sound guy. There's even a green room. I had to restrain myself from running wildly down the just-as-you-imagine wide halls, burning hot white from fluorescent bulbs overhead yelling, "Hello Cleveland!!"
Okay, maybe I did.
And the joints feeds you, on them a pitcher of beer per artist (whatever you like on tap, the Stella good and cold) and share-worthy 18" pizza. Sliced Chicago style (in squares) and with a wafer-thin, crispy crust holding up inventive and inspired toppings. After a mix-up with another bands comp, the super-attentive staff brought us two (enough to feed the guys in the band, the girl and various friends). The Iron Maiden comes topped with pepperoni, sausage and smoked ham, each of the meats chopped and cut and crumbled thick and chewy, spicy and oily. Complimented by a simple and herb-aceous red sauce. Â
Word of advice, always order a bars namesake. Especially if you find yourself at The Walnut Room and it's the Walnut Special, a happy pie smeared with tomato pesto and layers of tomatoes, green olives, onion, garlic and walnuts. Walnuts! The crunchy, earthy feel and mouth taste had even the most traditional pizza eaters take notice.
Split an Antipasto Salad, fresh spring mix, ripe tomatoes, artichoke hearts and peperoncini plus what look like meat spring rolls - a slice each of ham, salami and provolone laid one on top of the other, rolled like a Cuban then cut into large pieces. A meaty mouthful, best to unroll and enjoy each layer separately.
Like to think I'd be the girl sneaking out, circa 1975 NYC, to see the Ramones play CBGB's. But I'd have been the puss at home listening to Captain & Tennille records.
And I was 10.
So boys take note, the ladies love the musicians. Singers make the "O" face and sway their hips, drummers bang hard. I bet even tuba players get some action. A guitar has the curves and nuances of a woman's body. Play that and we imagine how you'd play us.
In the good way.
I've been to shows here before (it's just something you do growing up in Denver), but never had gotten to try out the food. Now that I'm working like 4 blocks from here, I've been able to hit them up a couple of times.
I've yet to try anything other than the pizza, cause really, why would you? I love their Mediterranean pizza (without onions) -- Feta on pizza turns out to be really delicious, and it's the perfect size for one. Their service isn't stellar, but my servers have always been friendly, and I've never felt completely ignored or that they were being rude to me.
I suppose eventually I'll venture to try something different, but for now, I have my dish I love here. I will say that I wish they had some more regular height tables inside. The bar stools hurt my knees, and it's been too hot to eat outside. Otherwise, a fun, fresh and tasty place to go.
The original Walnut room is leaps and bounds better than their pizza place on Broadway. Â Incredibly friendly service, a better vibe, and better pizza.
We stopped in here shortly after moving to the neighborhood with a Living Social deal in tow for $20. Â It was still happy hour and we were able to get in an order of pesto cheese bread and beers before it ended (half off). Â I went for margarita pizza....I've had it at the Broadway location and was not a huge fan. Â This one was much better though, with crispier crust, less sauce, and tons of basil and garlic.
They entered in the wrong pizza for the boyfriend so not only did he get the wrong pizza, he also got the right one! Â
The final order:
3 pizzas
1 side salad
1 order of pesto cheese bread
3 beers
PRE-COUPON: $24
And everyone we encountered was consistently friendly!
Great spot for happy hour, and not as bad of a place for pizza as I thought, given previous experiences at the Broadway spot. Â Can't wait for patio time here.
This is a cool little spot. Little is definitely the operative word, though. This is definitely not the place to bring several friends. I think max capacity at any table was 4.
Before I got there, my friends had a difficult time flagging down a server. They waited at their table for 10minutes before they got service. That's pretty lame for a place this small.
There is plenty of free parking in their lot and on the street.
Their happy hour is pretty awesome. My Goldschlagger shot & 3 beers were only $10. Good deal.
This place is a bit out of the way. If I find myself in the neighborhood, I'll probably find myself at Cassleman's (it's just got more room and is more comfortable), but I wouldn't mind dropping in at The Walnut Room again, sometime.
Really yummy pizza. Â This place is very close to downtown and has a great patio. Â You don't need to pay for, or even look for parking, thankfully!
I can't wait to come back when there's a really great band playing.
I wasn't totally impressed with our waitress, could we get a refill PaLease!
Also, pulling up your tube top, under your arm pits right before putting lemon in my tea kinda grosses me out.
This is karaoke Mecca on Tuesday nights! Â They offer a real stage, floor monitors, lighting, and there's even a sound mixer guy in a booth in the back of the room. Â The sound quality here is awesome! Â Pair that with the vast song options from Uncle Dutchie and it's winner, winner, chicken dinner!
The décor in this bar's entirety is very modern and streamlined.  Even the smoking patio was classy which is a nice change.  The bathrooms are very clean and there are enough stalls for everyone.  The room for karaoke is separate from the regular bar area and has its own designated bartender.  Also, don't worry about parking.  Not only is this bar located in an industrial area downtown (hint: free street parking), but it also has a parking lot.
As for the patrons, you get an interesting mix of trendies, yuppies, and semi-weirdos. Â On this particular night, I thought I was at a skinny jeans and mustache convention. Â Total flashback to the 70s minus the tacky clothing. Â One dude actually had chin-length feathered hair. Â However, these guys were great showmen. Â I laughed so much, my face hurt. Â
Not much for drink specials besides  1/2 off pitchers of beer, but this place still rocks!
I really wanted to like the Walnut Room. Reading the reviews here on Yelp before going, I thought for certain that I would. Unfortunately, that's just not the case.
I thought their pizza was gross. It's one of those paper thin crust, California style jobbers, and thus incredibly over-priced for what you get. a $17 pizza of $5 worth of ingredients. We got one with pesto sauce, but it actually came with both pesto and red sauce, which was over-powering, bitter and un-enjoyable. Â We also had the wings, which were soggy, small and disgusting.
The food is done separately from the waitstaff.  And it was difficult to get resolution on our lackluster meal. It was also nearly impossible to find our server to cash out our drinks tab, or to re-order.  The bartender in the food room seemed on top of it. I wish we would have  only done business with her.
With the disgusting meal behind us, it was time to check out the live music. This part of the Walnut Room earns them another star. Great acoustics, 2 great bands, professional lighting, nice stage. Â The sound man tends to like reverb on the vocals a little much, and the lighting person is obviously not a professional lighting designer, but overall, a very nice venue. The bartender in that room was a complete amateur. Though, that made for pint sized cocktails at regular price, if you could stand waiting to get one from her.
The Walnut Room is a nice looking establishment, full of a mix of chads and hippies. The food must be an acquired taste, because I found it absolutely disgusting, despite the many good reviews here. If this is the best Five Points has to offer, I'll gladly stay in Cap Hill.
The Walnut Room has 2 major things going for them: Â great live music venue, and awesome pizza. Â Let's start with the pizza first....wow. Â I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of their ingredients. Â Bryan and I ordered the Iron Maiden: Â pepperoni, sausage, Canadian bacon, and herbs. Â They were kind enough to oblige our request to substitute meatballs for the Canadian bacon. Â As previously mentioned, it's a super thin crust pizza, but perfectly made with top quality ingredients, and a great price. Â Yum!
And after the pizza, came the show. Â It really is a great place to watch some live music. Â When we went, they didn't have any chairs or tables set up, so everyone had to stand. Â After stuffing my face with pizza and Strongbow, however, I didn't mind that at all. Â I also liked the fact that there was a bar in there too. Â Made it very convenient as opposed to having go back into the dining room.
I definitely am a big fan of the Walnut Room, and will absolutely be back....if not for a show, then for their awesome pizza.
I have yet to see music here, but I hear the acoustics are outta this world, I will get there some day for that! But for now, I will continue to eat here...YUMM!!!!! Â I wish the Walnut Room was closer to me, but that might be dangerous!
The atmosphere is super fun here, everyone here just has fun, and it's contagious.
I love the pizza... it's just really good pizza. Â The variety of specialty pizzas makes deciding what to have difficult! Â The service is always great here, I have never had a bad experience. Â The crust is done to perfection.
The Walnut Room is a complete package for music entertainment! It has it all, great service, great American thin crusted pizza, great bar, cool patio and not forgetting, a cozy accoustic place for live music.
They have food and drink specials every day of the week, and Tuesdays is "flip-it and call it night", sure enough, I had ordered a large "Iron Maiden" - pepperoni, sausage, canadian bacon, flipped it, called it, and got a free pizza!
Pizza veridict:
American style thin pizza: filled with toppings, crunchy and well seasoned crust, thin, very greasy but I was expecting it from the fatty meats, and from the cheese! Was great, the only cons I have about their pizza is that its cut in squares, and it get a bit difficult to eat... Other than that its great!
You walk in and for a split-second, your heart drops. It's a typical bar. But no. This is even better than the beer nuts. Because behind the only unusually large-sized door is your ticket to a private event. Beautiful stage, lighting and entertainment included.
The drinks were perfect. The service, great (including the lovely server and the humble doorman, unlike some places I know). You wouldn't think anything so fly was out in the middle of industrial Denver, but it is.
I'd recommend ordering a delicious $5 Bloody Mary on a Sunday afternoon and sitting back to listen to a great line-up of musicians in your personal portal. Next time, we're trying the infamous pizza.
If this were the set of Jeopardy, and the blue screen said: "This snuggled gem located in Denver, Colorado, is named after the genus Juglans."
I'd reply, "What is the Walnut Room?"
i'm giving this place 5 stars because of its magic combination of delicious pizza and cool music space. I'd gone here a while back to see a band play but had eaten prior to arriving. I sat and waited for the show smelling the amazing pizza aromas wafting around me. I knew I had to venture back here to try it.
The music space is cool, and it is in its own room in the back. The whole place is new so it is very clean (somewhat rare with music venues.) They seem to have a good mix of music coming through.
The pizza was delicious. We got the "Three Amigos" which has pesto, bacon, and red sauce. Yum! Bacon on a pizza. Sign me up. It was, as other people have warned, very greasy. But hey, if you are put off by grease, why are you eating pizza in the first place?
The Walnut Room is one of those places you like but that you forget about because it is in a district where the homeless people sleep under tin sheets. Now I am not trying to rip on tin sheets here, but they just get so dang rusty and lazy like my cousin Leroy.
To carry on, I do enjoy this place because the food is pretty good and the prices are not too shabby. But best of all they have The Banquet on Tap and that my friend is the Roosters Cock   a-doodle-doo.  The venue is pretty money to, great place to see a small band or inspirational dance.
My only qualm with this place is that the bar tenders seemed a bit angry to me. I don't know if they are just jealous of my sparkle or if they just woke up from their tin sheet nap.
Kind of in an odd location, but at least parking's no issue here.
The pizza is kind of greasy, almost to the point of overkill. Â However, it gets one more star for cutting their pizza into squares. It kind of reminds me of Chicago Style thin crust I'd eat back home. Â
I might come back if I find myself in the area again, but otherwise I'm not going out of my way to eat here.
Because I trust (most) Yelpers explicitly, I had high hopes for The Walnut Room's Walnut Pizza. Sadly, I was disappointed.
Yes, the addition of nuts to a 'za is brilliance. Even as charred and unevenly distributed as the ones on ours were, they were indeed tasty bits of oily, crunchy, nutty goodness... not bad! May I suggest using pine nuts instead? No? Your want your nuts to reflect your name? Oh... okay then. They were still good.
My main beef: the red sauce. I've said it before and I'll say it again: I don't like red sauce on pizzas (see my Virgilio's review... they're still the best). I choose not to order it whenever possible. So when I see that a pizza is described as having pesto, it SHOULD naturally follow that said pesto is IN PLACE of the red sauce... not IN ADDITION to it.
Well, The Walnut Room's Walnut Pizza had red sauce. Lots of it. Yes, it had globs of spattered pesto too, but come ON. There was no mention of renegade red saucery! Begone from my pie, foul slurry!
Another issue: why cut the pizza in squares instead of wedges? It only serves to make those middle, crustless squares hard to pick up and messy to eat. My friend got grease on her dress. Not totally your fault, Walnut Room... but still. Pizzas should be cut in wedges, if only for the sheer simplicity of having a handle of crust to hold onto. Â
Simply as a place to drink, The Walnut Room is decent enough. It's worth a solid three stars. The interior bar area is way too narrow though, and when it's crowded it can make mingling (or just heading to the bathroom) quite difficult. Nice patio, however! Just remember that there's no server out there, so if you want food/drinks you'll need to order at the bar.
So, three stars for the Walnut Room. But five stars for Sam, one of the bartenders!! She's super-duper nice.
Walnut Room has an attractive combination of hip and low-key that should make anyone feel welcome. Most bars can't accomplish this without a certain amount of Trying Too Hard in one direction or another, but Walnut Room makes it look easy.
The full bar has a great selection of liquors, but it isn't so much a wine bar. Mixed drinks are just like you like 'em: strong but not full of ether (cf. the Church) and reasonably priced.
The patio is a great place to just chill out on a moonlit night.
One caveat: although this bar has a room for live acts. this is NOT a good place to go see said acts. No seating. One bar area. Tiny. Not the greatest stage in the world. Unless you're in the front, you better just be there to dance or listen and sway in place, because you won't see a thing. Well, unless you're seven feet tall.
I was here for the first time just last month. A buddy of mine was in town from L.A. (he was part of a tour that was playing the Walnut), and we got to catch up while I got to check out this great new Denver venue.
The Walnut Room just turned 1 year old a few months back, and I've got high hopes for this place. They've got a really cool bar area, and a stellar room for live music. They've also got Oskar Blues' beer in cans, which is freakin' tremendous. It's a bit out of the way, which is part of its charm, no doubt (and I'm sure that before long LoDo will have spread its tentacles out this far!), and definitely worth the trip.
Ladies: You know what I'm talking about. You go out to hear some local music, have a few beers, and soon enough you're making that dreaded walk down a dark hallway, only to find yourself in a grimy bathroom, where you try to hover over the toilet with impaired balance  without wanting to touch the sides of the stalls.
It doesn't have to be this way! Next time, go to The Walnut Room, where the bathrooms are actually truly nice and clean.
Plus, they've got REAL food: pizza on super thin crust (you should totally try the Walnut Special, it sounds a bit odd but it works), salads and sandwiches.
The beer is cold, too: Guiness, Harp, Fat Tire, etc.
The music venue side has excellent sound and is extremely intimate. And don't worry, you can get drinks on that side of the door, too.
Staff is usually quite attentive, but they are all apparently good friends, so you might have to wait for them to finish their chit chat before you can order your beer. There used to be a total jerk of a doorman, too, but the one I've seen there lately is a perfect gentleman.
Other drawbacks:
-Music on bar only side is usually sucky and WAY TOO LOUD. I sound old, I suppose, but it really is ridiculous to have to yell to the person on the next bar stool if you're competing with a juke box and not a live musician.
-Teeny tiny, makes it hard to find a corner in which to devour your pizza, which you eat off of squares of parchment paper. (However, they have a patio in warmer weather, which more than doubles the seating area, I think.)
-Location (not the swankiest part of town, you have to admit) and parking.
Finally, the crowd is not great for people watching, because they tend to be really "normal" 30 somethings, or older. This could be a pro or a con, depending on your perspective or mood.
