I don't find myself in Edison Park that often, but I had to schlep out here for a friend's shower.  I'm kind of glad I did.  I was pleasantly surprised by the food here (even if it was in family style form whilst being bombarded with pink baby products).

I'm just going to give you a run-down of the food because my opinion of anything else has been tainted by a) my intake of wine and b) the fact that I was at a PINK EVERYTHING BABY SHOWER.  Seriously, I have a bottle of glittery pink nail polish to prove it.

The menu was really solid:  Three types of bruschetta (I had two out of the three and they were AMAZING!), fried calamari (DELICIOUS and came with a great spicy marinara sauce), a Caesar and House salad (looked good...but I don't eat lettuce), pasta with red sauce (wish I could tell you what it was, but the sauce was good.  And I am PICKY about my marinara), chicken with prosciutto (PROSCIUTTO.  The end.), and pork tenderloin wrapped in pancetta (PORK!!  With gravy!!  YES!!!).  There was also some rosemary garlic potatoes and mashed garlic potatoes that were pretty good too.

If I ever find myself in Edison Park again, with a hankering for Italian, I'll be sure to come to Zia's.

I'm a sucker for the right ambiance- it can really set the tone for the rest of the night, and if it's lacking, well, needless to say, I probably won't come back.

Zia's definitely did not disappoint in that regard- intimate, but not small, classy, but not snobby. I like their bar area, it's where most of the crowd was, but the dining area with the exposed brick, cloth table covers and low lights is definitely the selling point.

The service was extremely friendly and for the most part efficient- i was disappointed to realize that it took the kitchen close to half an hour to bring out the food, but I was having such a good time catching up with a friend that I didn't weigh it too heavily. Also, the waitress seemed sincere when apologizing and offered, numerous times, dessert on the house ( THAT is how customer service is done, people!)

I ordered a classic- simple margherita pizza with a glass of white wine and my friend ordered the asparagus salad with a glass of red wine.

Everything was delicious!! (especially the bread with olive oil and Parmesan, yum!)

I was surprised at how thin the pizza was- it was exactly what I wanted- deliciousness minus the guilty feeling of eating carbs after 9.

My only negative is the street parking- a quarter for 7 minutes...ouch! I have a strong hate for all things parking-especially when it's that expensive. However, considering that we can stop paying at 9 and because I had such a fabulous time, the parking situation won't deter me from coming back.

Is there a parking lot? I didn't see it.

Here midday with a very large group - bruschetta was very good, didn't taste the calamari, chicken marsala was tasty - tira mi su magnifico!  All served family style-not a fan of paper tablecloths.  I'd return BUT getting through their entrance door with a wheelchair was a 45º nightmare.
