I was urged to try this place as my buddy is a cop in LBTS and let me tell you- HOME RUN! Best steak salad I've ever had. The Philly Cheese looked incredible- that's next. This place is on my short list for great food.

Grilled cheese is amazing .. Like 4 different cheeses, bacon, tomato AND avocado!
Truffled macaroni is to die for...
Though I rate it 4 stars because they don't do very well when they are busy.. No oranges for my blue moon beer. And spinach and crab was a bit flavorless compared to previous visits.

YUM YUM YUM from the apps to the entrees to dessert (which we were almost too full for), this was a fantastic meal and a great experience.  The food was so good that we ate here twice during our 4 days in Ft. Lauderdale.

Highly recommend the vegetarian pizza, the fish and chips and the fish tacos.  We also loved the calamari (ordered that twice!).

On Friday night, we enjoyed live music on the patio and on Sunday late afternoon a relaxed, laid back feel made it the perfect end to our getaway weekend.

    Definitely will be going back!

We visit this place every time we vacation in Lauderdale by the sea! (Which is often). My fiancé and I love it here. It's a cute spot and it's a bit more upscale then the surrounding places. The food it great, and the bartenders are all fantastic! They have the best late night pizza!

Pretty decent food, good calamari- crowd is a little old. I ordered a cobb salad, which was pretty standard, but good.  I noticed someone ordered a steak salad which actually looked amazing and I regretted by order, so if you're interested in a salad, I would recommend that one.  This is a great place to go after work to unwind- right by the water and a good selection of drinks, especially martini options.  I am sure I will venture here again sometime soon.

Warm tenderloin salad, lasagna. Very good dinner and great service. We ate outside street side which was pleasant but the table rocked around so much we had to synchronize knife strokes.
This was not our first dinner here, it is always a great experience wobbly table notwithstanding.

101 Ocean is a good place to have a beer and something small at the bar. I love the fact that the bar opens to the sidewalk which makes the place somewhat unique. It sits on a busy corner where there's lots of foot traffic which makes it fun. The bartenders are friendly and attentive and the food (I've only tried their small offerings like the flat breads or wings) is pretty good and very reasonably priced. The crowd that goes there is a mixed bag; mostly 40 somethings. A lot of tourists or out of town business people which is OK because visitors love Fort Lauderdale and tend to always be in a good mood. The percentage of gusts that are Real Housewives types and their douchy husbands is a bit high; but they are easy to ignore. Like with all places on that corner, parking is a nightmare. I haven't been there during the height of season, so this review might change, soon.

Can't go out East without stopping there.  Even if just for a beer or two.  Best Flatbreads ever!!

Wow what a great little place! Tucked in between beachy dive bars is an upscale dining experience. Everything we tried here was absolutely fantastic, and we tried a lot! They have a great happy hour to unwind after a hard day at the beach, but the small plates menu is where it's at. From flat breads, to asian noodles to fresh oysters, they have it all covered, and at a reasonable price too.

Going to touristy Las Olas was odd for me, as I always hate being a "tourist" no matter where I am... (exactly WHY I haven't gone to Las Olas in Fort Lauderdale since I moved here)

Strolling around the area the tourist factor was super high visible...

But there was something elegant about 101 which seemed to be a spot that people in the know would go.

We were seated fast and very politely.  We got a nice spot in the corner where there was a large aquarium and a huge tv screen (there are many).

I like the decor.  It was dark, with rich tones and the bar wasn't shoved into a corner or right in the front (where you have to squeeze through a million people to get to  or leave your table...)  The bar was against one wall of the restaurant with cool organized seating.  There was a scattering of round high tables for people nursing drinks and the rest of the floor space was beautiful tables/booths.

Server was really nice, funny, helpful and not too pushy at all... Encouraged us to go for the Osso Bucca, which we knew would be super heavy, but feeling daring we decided to go for it.  We had two starters as well.

    So - The apps

    Chicken Quesadilla - Hello!!! yum.
Spare Ribs with Asian sauce - ok, so think app - 4 pieces?  not here it wasn't.  Like a stack of logs - had to be 8 pieces.  Was so so so fingerlickin good!

The Osso Bucca made it's grand entrance while we were still on the apps... That is not the best thing to happen, because something is getting cold and there is disarray on the table.... It was forgiven.  The dish was huge and heavy, but I was happy.

The fireworks was the creme brulee for dessert... you probably know by now I would sell my mother for less than a quarter for a serious dessert.  Must admit, definitely one of those.

Reasonable, no drinks - 2 people, 2 apps, 1 entree and dessert split down the middle was $36 each.

    Definitely would go again...

Looking for some good food and drinks right on the beach? Then look no further than 101 Ocean. Its located at the very end of Commercial Blvd in Lauderdale By The Sea. They have dishes to meet any taste and the food is fresh and delicious. I had a grilled chicken sandwich that was topped with melted cheese lettuce tomato and a rosemary thyme mayo. It was super good and I wanted another one. The interior is trendy and modern and the side facing the beach is open to let the sea breeze in while you dine.

I've eaten here a few times. The mussels are what brought me back. The menu is extensive but I've only ordered pizza and beer.

Great outdoor ambiance and lively crowd, awesome place to hang out and a plus that it's only a few steps away from the beach and the pier.

Came here because i was staying in pompano beach and i had bought a living social deal for here.  So i thought the place was going to be good (wrong).  The restaurant is really nice and the staff is friendly but the actual food is not that great.  The ambiance is really great with a lil bit more of an upscale crowd then the other restaurants nearby.

We started with the truffle mac and cheese ( the only thing i really liked) and the shrimp and chorizo flatbread (flavorless) i should have listened to the waitress that suggested the prosciouto/argula or the steak/bleu crumble maybe it would have been better(my bad).

We had an early dinner and i went with a kobe burger ( i ordered med) came out well done (overcooked def for my taste), with melted brie (couldnt find it) and caramelized onions.  The fries were not even seasoned, no taste whatsoever. My hubby had the sirloin strip sandwich with bleu crumble, he said the cheese was so overpowering that you couldnt even savor the steak, and his fries were the same.

Definitely wont be coming here again for the food,  The bar was slammed every time we passed by that weekend, so maybe i come back for drinks sometime (FYI my hubby doesnt drink so i guess i wont.)

Nice place, nice crowd, but nothing like... reeeeaaaaalllllyyyy special..
    it's okay..

I thought that the drinks are a little pricy for what it is...
well.. I'll came back one day... just for a second opinion..

    You should try anyways.

Great time was had here on a picture perfect Friday afternoon / evening!

We were here for a birthday gathering, but we arrived early and sat at the bar. The bar is fantastic because the way it is situated, you can opt to sit inside or out. We opted for out as it was a gorgeous day!

They have a fine selection of beers on tap as well as very inventive, reasonably priced cocktails. I believe a spicy jalapeno martini was consumed by the BF, while I had an excellent draft beer.

We also sampled some food - the calamari and the mussel bowl. The calamari was crisply delicious and the mussels were fantastic - simmered in a saffron broth with a side of toast to soak up all that goodness!

The bartender was amazingly friendly! Just a super nice character. As the night wore on and more and more drinks were consumed, he managed to put up with all of our requests, "Can you close the tab? No wait, can you add one more martini to that? Ok, now close it. NO, wait, how about a vodka soda??" LOL! Drunk people!

The interior is really nice - the location and the pricing are that of a beach shack but the interior is definitely upscale. The only drawback was that it did get pretty crowded inside as the night wore on.

Also, the night that we were there, a band was set up on the dead end street outside of the bar. Bonus live band!

We came in late Monday night, after 10 and were greeted and seated immediately. Sitting at the bar and enjoying a great view of the local action, we enjoyed a great craft beer menu, awesome appetizers ( truffled Mac n cheese!!) and killer entrees. Great friendly staff, clean seating area and bathroom. If I lived here, I'd visit once a week!!

I met a friend here for after dinner drinks. They have a full bar and the bartenders are happy to make all sorts of interesting drinks. I just wanted a beer. They have a dozen or so draft choices and some good (though not great) bottled beer choices.

A good menu of nibbles. Try the macaroni and cheese which my friend really enjoyed. I had a chicken quesadilla that arrived with a little pot of spicy marinara sauce for dipping. Shredded chicken, so gravity managed to grab a good amount of it between the plate and my mouth

Parking is very tough because it's very near the beach.

I really enjoy this place, for me the location is perfect and the food is pretty damn good. The staff is also equally friendly. Foodwise my favorites are the fish tacos and steak flatbread with blue cheese, the only thing that is not so great in my opinion is the rib appetizer. I really enjoy their wine selection and one of my favorite places to hang out on a Sunday. Be warned that this place gets pretty busy on the weekend but well worth it!

I stopped by 101 for dinner tonight during my touristing through the far reaches of the 954, and have to say I had a pretty decent impression of this spot. As one of the other reviewers mentioned, my waitress would also be lost for a little bit. However, due to a packed Friday night house and that she would happen to show up enough I'll gladly round up to 4 stars.

Free wifi - great for solo diners - also gets them an honorable men tion.

My dinner was a tasty, generous serving of penne pasta with sweet sausage, ground beef and a good spread of marinara sauce! The caprese salad tower was nicely presented (a vertical stacking of mozarella and tomatoes with sweetly balsamic) but I could pass on the lettuce.

However, the star of the night was the resumption of my love affair with Eva. Nicely presented with a crispy crust, sweet creamy filling and a sprinkling of strawberries on top 101 Ocean served a creme brulee worth the drive up!

Consistently excellent! Great location, top notch service and tasty food.
101 Ocean is a favorite for us. A twist between a trendy South Beach cafe and contemporary seafood restaurant. 101 Ocean is a great place to people watch beach goer's if you're not distracting by the sporting events showing on all the T.V.s.

Reasonable prices and great drink specials all week long.

    Location is great.
    Food was alright.
    Service was above par.
    Prices were average.

Came here to grab a late lunch. Ended up staying for almost 3 hours drinking because of a small storm that rolled in.  The waitress was very sweet always checking in.  Management didn't seem to really pay us any attention after seating us.  Would have been nice if they actually came by to ask how everything was.

If only the food was good instead of average, I would be all over this place.

I had high hopes for my first visit to 101 Ocean - I'd passed by before, and thought the place looked cool and had a good menu, so I was excited to finally try it.  Unfortunately, it was not a great experience, and if I go back, I will be careful in ordering.

The biggest disappointment was with the pizza.  If you're going to make a show out of having a dedicated pizza making room, oven and dough tossing 'show', the pizza should at least be good.  Instead, it was a bland, undercooked crust, with some really bad canned tomatoes for a topping (and this at a time where I'm getting great tomatoes on sale at just about any market that I go).

A Cuban sandwich was better than the pizza, but was made without much care, and was a little bland - at least the fries served with it were good though.

Service was the high-point - our waitress was very friendly, and looked after us well.  She was quick to mop down the ceiling vents that were causing it to rain on my head and the table.

This place has a good location, decent design, and a menu that is very appealing - unfortunately, like so many places near / on the beach, it seems that they are content to let the location fill the restaurant, and have the kitchen do just enough to get by.  I won't rule out a return, but I'm certainly not in any rush to get back after this disappointing first try.

I didn't consume any food. I was here for drinks at about 11 pm on a Friday night and all I have to say is "WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT MESS I WITNESSED?!". The drinks were so strong, I understand why after seeing who all was there.

I had been wanting to try this place for a while.  We live in downtown Ft. Lauderdale, but it's nice to go to Lauderdale by the Sea for a nice change of scenery sometimes.  We went for a late dinner one Friday night.  The place was busy, but we were able to get a table for four without a problem around 9pm.

The service was good and the food was solid.  Nothing extraordinary.  Actually, we went just last week and I can't remember what I ordered.  But I remember thinking it tasted good.

At one point, I looked up and about 5 tables had been cleared and the chairs stacked up on them.  A lighted ball had been turned on on the ceiling.  DJ came on, and top 40 music started playing.  Apparently, this place becomes a "club" on the weekends??  At that point (which may have been 10pm) I just started feeling really weird that we were finishing dinner right at the periphery of a dance floor with 2 people dancing on it.

Cool location, good food.  But the whole restaurant/pseudo-club turned me off.  It's not that kind of place.

What a great little treasure in Lauderdale by the Sea! I would drive up from Miami to eat here again on a weekend. The ambiance was "up-scale beachy". You don't have to dress-up to get this kind of food and service by the water.

We ordered the seared tuna (twice). That's how good it was perfectly prepared and fresh. We also had delicious grilled fish tacos and a hummus platter with other spreads which were actually very good for this not being a Mediterranean restaurant. We also ordered the mac-n-cheese which was full of cheesy goodness and bread crumbs. They called it "truffle", but the cheese over-powered any truffle flavor.

We sat outside, had some drinks and listened to some Bob Marley. There are plenty of bars to walk to if you're in the mood. There is valet for $6, and if you dine at the restaurant, you get a free drink. So it all works out. 101 Ocean is my new little vacation destination.

This place is solid. There's nothing outstanding about it. The food is all very good, the interior clean and neat. It's a nice restaurant.

I give it 3 stars because I felt prices were a little high for the quality of food. Portion sizes were large though.

They have a large beer selection which is welcome when you don't want something by the standard three.

    I'd eat there again.

Just had dinner with a few friends here Friday night and enjoyed our visit. We've been on several occasions and it is always consistent. Our group of 6 treated this meal in a tapas style, sharing several menu items.  Food is tasty- flatbreads and pizzas are great options. The jumping shrimp appetizer is also really good. The mezze plate is a nice sharing option however a little chincy that they charged us for additional pita ($2.50).   Oysters were on point-pun intended (they were blue points). The bar drinks are great, I recommend the Asian dragon which is made with a newer flavor of vodka- sky dragon fruit. We had a few bottles of chandon at the table which was fun and inexpensive ($28/bottle).

101 is a great place to catch up with friends, in a classy bar/restaurant setting. The surrounding area can get really crowded when they block off the street for a live band and parking can be a challenge (valet available).   Inside the restaurant,  around 11pm on fri nights, they bring in a dj who plays a variety of hip hop and dance music. It's loud, not too much of a scene but there is sure to be great people watching opportunities. This last time we saw a couple that def needed a private room- kind of repulsive behavior.

If you haven't been, it's worth a try. Sign up on their website for a $10 off your visit!

This is a great happy hour stop. We spend a many after work night with a good drink and good friends here. The whole block has a great feel, punctuated by this lively bar. The flat breads are all good and the calamari melts in your mouth. The bar can get a little tight and servers push to get by you, but that is the price of popularity.

We love coming here for drinks mostly but have enjoyed some meals as well.  This place is pretty fun with a DJ on the weekends, especially considering the sleepy beach town surroundings.  On a recent visit we were in for a late bite to eat and enjoyed a few different kinds of flatbread. The spare ribs app was disappointing but everything else was good, especially the Cesar salad.  The side portion was big!  The wine list is pretty good and reasonably priced.  Also a decent selection of beers on tap but nothing too special.

Our waiter seemed like he was 1/2 asleep and wasn't too quick to attend to us.  We had to wake him up from a standing nap at the bar to get the check at the end and he watched us walk out without a thanks or have a good night uttered.  On other visits the service hasn't been an issue, maybe this guy was pissed he had to work on the 4th of July!

Great little ocean bar with decent food.  The drinks are stiff and quite tasty, but somewhat pricey.  The NY style pizza here is some of the best I've had in S. Florida.  Highly recommended.

The service is good, but only "okay" sometimes.  Depends on how busy they are.  The waiters and bartenders are friendly.

Great location as well.  After a few drinks or a late night snack, you can walk over to Arubas for dancing, take a stroll on the ocean walk, or get a little ice cream or chocolate at Kilwins (next door).

Good for dates or watching sporting events.

    Will go again for sure.

Stopped in for lunch this past weekend. We enjoy Lauderdale by the Sea with so many local shops, bars and restaurants. Laying in the sun all day we got hungry for an afternoon bite. This is probably the nicest restaurant on the beach. Decor is simple, dark colors, beautiful salt water fish tanks, very relaxing. They have daily drink specials for $5 and the wine list is not bad. They had Jordan Chardonnay priced at $40 a bottle, whew nice for a great bottle of Chardonnay.

Service was excellent, our waiter was top notch. He was quite busy and we never waited for anything water, drinks, checked on us at least four times. Hmm, what a difference from dining at the beach in Miami. The menu was cool having a good variety for everyone. Hamburgers, sandwiches, fish and steak.

We ordered a Meza platter and a Turkey Club Sandwich with fries. We shared each dish and it was prefect. The meza platter came with pita bread shaped like triangles, warm and very good, hummus, taziki, and two other dips that were very good. The sandwich was so good and huge, great turkey and bacon with lettuce, tomato and cheese. Fries were steak fries, hot and fresh.

Great restaurant with awesome service, very good food with a nice vibe. Restrooms are clean and classy. Really enjoyed our lunch and will be back next time we are in the area.

Great outside seating, plentiful and huge bar. Very nice!!

It was our last night in Ft Lauderdale and E and I were looking for something close, special, and a little pricier than what we'd been paying the rest of the week. We settled on 101 Ocean on a busy Saturday night and were pleased to be immediately seated outside. The beautiful thing is that we weren't just sitting on the patio - instead, the road had been closed off for live music and so we got a cute little linen-covered table in the middle of the street.

We basked in the last of the evening Florida sun and ordered drinks - a margarita for E and a melon martini for me. While both were delish, we wondered why both were served in small plastic cups, which was the theme of alcoholic beverages the entire trip. Is this a FL thing, anyone?

We splurged and ordered an app, a rarity for us. The calamari was absolutely divine. We munched and enjoyed the tunes the band was playing - all Elvis, which was fun and lively and had me dancing in my chair in no time. For our main, we ordered the Fisherman's Bowl -  whole mussels, whole clams, red potatoes, corn on the cob, and 3 half lobster tails steamed and sitting in a bowl of broth. It was exactly what we were looking for, super tasty, and filling enough for both of us. Having never had mussels or whole clams, I was pleasantly surprised. They were prepared beautifully.

Another splurge came - dessert. When I heard that their special was blueberry bread pudding with vanilla ice cream, I couldn't resist. If you eat here and that is a dessert option, ORDER IT! It was the best dessert i have had in a long time - gooey on the inside, crunchy on the outside, with an ooze of fresh blueberries and a warmth that mixed beautifully with the cold ice cream.

Overall, this was a fantastic end to the day, and a meal I enjoyed from start to finish. With drinks, app, entree, dessert, and tip, I spent about 70 dollars. And I didn't regret it :)

I went on Monday night with a date around 9pm - and the restaurant got more and more crowded as the night went on.

Prices were typical South Florida "beach" - $13/salad w/out meat, and i think about $14 for the pizza he got (don't quote me on that one). The app was prob about the same.
My greek salad was great and huge - but i asked for dressing on the side and it came smothered. My date's pizza looked amazing and easily could have served 2-3 people.

We had the hummus/greek appetizer - pita bread with 3 kinds of hummus and tzatziki . really really good.

they have a full bar as well and everything from the wine to the dirty martini (obviously tried a few) was good.

I would definitely go back to 101 Ocean

It's an upscale place with nice decor and solid food.  It almost feels like a Houston's, but thankfully is a little better.  The food is ok.  Not as good as the decor would lead you to believe, but not bad.

There is a whole street party scene on that block on Friday nights, which can be fun every now and then, but the restaurant can get very loud, and it feels like it is searching for an identity.  The other restaurants involved in the street party are more laid back and upretentious, but 101 Ocean is trying to be something different, and I am not sure it really works for it.  For example, last Friday night, while the street party was still going on outside, the restaurant had an extremely loud dj start playing music.  It was almost like a competition with the street party instead of being part of it, and the result was simply a lot of noise.

Although the restaurant itself was fine,  I am dissapointed at the service. They charged my card $8 more than the total with tip, it's been like 2 monhts, various phone calls and emails, and I have not gotten my money back! Horrible Horrible. I know is'only" 8 bucks , but hey , that could be for another meal and I don't give away money so..terrible

What a welcome new addition to Lauderdale-by-the-Sea!

It's both classy and a beach bar at the same time.  The open air, the massive bar centerpiece, the water running down the walls, the New York black the bartenders and wait staff wear, the glass wall allowing you to see into the kitchen and brick oven... all lend to an upper-scale, chic atmosphere.  But at the same time, the cheap prices, the attentive and friendly service, the large portions, the multiple plasma televisions circling the bar, the willingness of the bartender to hand over a remote control to change the channel of one of those televisions...makes it also very casual and laid back.

The music is groovin'.  Throwback R&B like Fresh Prince and Boyz II Men, soul-soothing rock from U2 and Toad the Wet Sprocket... it works.

We spent post-dinner here at the bar, watching some baseball and the Miss Universe pageant at the same time.  We had a couple of uber-cold pints of Coors Light ($4, easy on my stomach...although they had a pretty decent selection on tap), a couple of double Patron Silver tequilas neat ($8.50 for a double), and a dozen steamed littlenecks in plenty of white wine-lemon-garlic broth with two good-sized pieces of freshly-made garlic bread for $10.95.  The menu reflected that of a bar and grill, but more refined -- with better ingredients and local fish.

My only complaint had nothing to do with the food or service.  There is another waterwall outside by the entrance that flows over their large posted menu, which has quite a few spelling errors -- including "dozon" instead of "dozen".  It kind of detracts from the classiness they otherwise project.  But then again, maybe the errors in the waterfall menu just add to the classy+casual dichotomy.

I can see this becoming my quick drink and/or eats hangout bar down the street (I live in the same zip code).   It is within eyeshot of the beach, doesn't have that super tourist feel, and isn't crowded with them either -- like the Fort Lauderdale Beach restaurants/bars or even the Village Pump or Aruba across the street.
