This is a tough one to rate. Â As a bar its great. Â As a restaurant..Poor. Â I've been here many times and there are a few things that stay constant. Â Bad Service, average food at best, the beer is great, atmosphere is great and people are great. Â Mainly because the location is excellent. Â They are usually understaffed, you wait forever to get recognized at a table and you rarely get a beer menu. Â If you go to Taco Tuesday DO NOT get fish tacos. Â Our group are 100% positive they were canned Tuna fish possibly mixed in with a little Mahi. Â I will continue to go back for drinks but will choose elsewhere for food.
Review Source:Here's a good bar for people who want to try craft beer but still prefer tried-and-trues from time to time. Wednesdays are good: all-you-can-eat sushi, and it's not half bad. The decor is cozy and the biggest attraction are the self-serve taps. But it's just a casual place to go on Las Olas, though you can still feel a party vibe.
Review Source:It can't just be my low Miami expectations - my group and I found American Social to be absolutely delightful!
First, I love the set up. Our table was situated behind the bar with a great view of the TVs and the rest of the restaurant. I love the comfy couch-style stools and welcoming atmosphere.
A couple of different staff members took care of us on this late afternoon Saturday. Usually when that happens, it can be awkward for the customers or team members, who don't always know what's going on. These waitresses were on point: they were friendly and worked as a team, one seamlessly taking our order for the other.
I had the homemade veggie burger. I appreciate the challenges of making your own and enjoyed the freshness of the patty. However, the beet base came out a little sweet for me and was difficult to manage due to the burger not holding its integrity. The side salad boasted fresh, crisp greens and crumbled goat cheese. Again the dressing was a bit sweeter than I prefer, but the goat cheese counteracted it well.
I also tried a couple of fries (delicious) and a piece of the seafood flatbread (yum, wished the  bread was a bit more crispy though). The drinks were cold and refreshing - my hubby enjoyed the beer list, I had an above average bloody mary with delicious fresh olives, and we all enjoyed a round of perfectly concocted lemon drop shots. Win!
Bottom Line: Solid food and great service and atmosphere, American Social satisfies all around.
I really like American Social. Â It's got the perfect mix of very yummy food, friendly staff, a creative menu and the perfect casual atmosphere. Â
The tables outside are so nice for a daytime drink and a snack, probably my favorite place to be. Â The bar inside is big and round and fun for a social happy hour drink or nighttime cocktail. Â The music they play is always great and at the perfect volume so you can enjoy the music and still hear yourself and friends talk. Â The entire restaurant is very clean and the bathrooms are well kept and designed very nicely, which for me speaks loudly to what is going on every where else in the restaurant.
I've only tried a few items (a had great martini and VERY yummy macaroni & cheese). I am really looking forward to going back to try more of their dishes, and check out their happy hour and nightlife action! Â
It's one of the best places on las olas, for sure!
This place was fun, cool, hip, and relaxing.
Came in with a group of 9 and they had live music. It wasn't annoying live music, it was  legit guy who was playing awesome music. They have the table taps which I didn't get to try but I'm sure they are fun. Very relaxing seating around the exterior walls and a very attentive bartending staff.
Great place to just "chill" and even meet a couple of cool people.
SideBar: From the looks of it they had really good food!
I think people keep missing an important point here. It's not just full of douch bags, but also their female equivalents. A bunch of stuck up, self-absorbed plastic surgery disasters. It's a shame because the place looks nice and the food is alright. Big selection of beers too. But just like a lot of these spots in Broward (ex. Tap42) the clientele ruins it. Another grain of sand in the Las Olas cultural desert.
Review Source:I recently found out about this place through the Sun-Sentinel newspaper. The article raved about how American Social's popularity is soaring due to the food and not just for their extensive selection of craft beer. So, my husband and I decided on a whim to try it out on our anniversary last Tuesday. Upon entering, you can't help but drool at the tap selection. There are dozens! Sorry, I don't have an exact count but it is definitely a beer heaven for beer lovers. Upon sitting down, the server asked us what we wanted. Well, uh, we have barely had time to scan through the taps so we asked her for a beer menu to decide on what beer to start with. We settled on Hoegaarden.
A cool feature is their "walltender," in which there are six different beers that you walk up and pour yourself. You pay one price and you get to fill your pint glass with your choice of two beers. My husband and I decided to eat there since we had not eaten since the morning. The menu is not a huge menu but there are vegetarian options (since we are). We settled on their Truffle Funghi Portobello and Shitake flatbead for appetizer. It was delicious. Not too heavy on the cheese, which was a good thing and it was lightly drizzed with truffle oil. After we had the flatbread, we decided on the Traditional Mac and Cheese Skillet. It was just okay. The presentation was nice as it is served in a miniature cast iron skillet.
Overall, American Social is worth a try for simply the beer. The service was mediocre. The server was disinterested and unattentive. She was more interested in talking to her co-workers. We went on a Tuesday, which I suppose is a slow day but still make an effort to attend to your customers and make them feel welcome. I would not go to this place on a weekend night. It has that feeling that it gets crowded and standing room only. My husband and I like it quiet so if we go back to American Social, it would be on a weekday afternoon like we did for our anniversary.
This is a tough review for me. Let me first start with the positives. The decor, lighting and music were all 5 star. The ambience is second to none. The drinks are pricey but priced right for the location and the above mentioned. Now... Here's the downside.... I've never, never ever ever ever...ever... Seen a place jam packed with the biggest group of guy D-bags on the planet. Do not be fooled, this place is clicky and loaded with regulars who happen to be young mid to late 20's dressed as yachtsman. Yes, they all look like Scott Dissick aka The Lord from the Kardashians. And not just a few of em.. It was all the guys in there. And nothing against em, it was entertaining for the most part but super annoying to watch guys at a booth acting like there at a club getting bottle service. All and all, I wasn't disappointed but I wasn't blown away either. I think 3 stars was accurate. This is a place where you definitely want to start your night with about 2 to 3 drinks then move on to something else on the strip.
Review Source:Stopped by on a Tuesday night for a couple of beers and dinner. The beers are great, they have unique options and a fun atmosphere with well-placed TVs. I've been here before for happy hour and just had some of the appetizers, which were typical bar food, nothing to write home about. This time we started with the Pickliz & Pork Tostones, which were tasty (watch out for the spicy peppers!!), good start.. The Caesar salad, while plentiful, tasted like they poured mayo over lettuce. PLEASE do something about your caesar dressing. The Amso burger was ok, but we ordered it medium and it came out well done, and to make it worse, the fries were undercooked. Usually the saving grace is the fries, not the case over here. I might come back for some drinks and to watch a game, but I have to say, I'm pretty disappointed that I chose to give American Social a shot over a guaranteed great dining experience elsewhere -- will probably not make that mistake again.
Review Source:American Social felt like a smaller World of Beer, but with food service. I found the food not very notable though. The beers are decent but the craft beer selection can be found almost anywhere that serves non-Bud Lite products. If you care about a good beer place and not just a scene, I would recommend going elsewhere.
Review Source:I found myself wandering around Las Olas Boulevard after a long day of soaking up the rays on Ft. Lauderdale beach. I asked around for a good dinner spot for young adults and the general consensus seemed to be American Social. Â The first thing you notice is that everyone there must moonlight as a model. I'm serious. The patrons, the waitresses, even the bus boys looked like they just stepped from the pages of Vogue. It made the place immediately more appealing. Anyway, they had a decent selection of drafts and my Rogue Dead Guy Ale was delicious. I'm pretty easy to please, so attractive girls and cold beer would have been plenty, but the food was actually really good as well. The only downside was that it got pretty packed later in the night (it was a Friday) and the bartenders were a bit overworked. To their credit, they may have looked overwhelmed, but that didn't stop them from smiling and making small talk when I ordered another drink. The average age of the crowd is probably mid 20's, but there is a smattering of 40+ year olds trying to be hip. Overall, it's mostly attractive young professionals in a trendy atmosphere. Solid night for sure.
Because of the late night crowd I can't give it 5 stars, but the fact that it's so popular is probably a good thing! If you're on Las Olas then I absolutely recommend American Social for lunch, dinner, or a late night snack with a few drinks.
Delirium Tremens on draft. Sports on big screens. Thirty something's chatting up some twenty something's watching 40 plus something's eat. Lots to see and a bit too much to hear at this bar/lounge ( good and loud crowd on a Saturday night). I had no food but I will give the menu a try next time because the interesting and varied selection of beers includes my very fave Belgian, and others, and there is enough people watching action to keep one entertained through at least a round or two. Don't know how long the buzzy mood here will last so come here while it's hot.
Review Source:We had about an hour to kill before we wanted to start getting into Fort Lauderdale Airport, and saw that Las Olas Blvd. had a lot of dining and shopping selections. Unfortunately since it is such a nice looking area a lot of the dining options are on the pricier side, and we didn't really want a huge meal anyway before jumping on a plane. We opted for American Social Bar & Restaurant since the flatbread pizzas and sandwiches looked like a lighter (and slightly cheaper) option.
I think most people go for the beer, which is obvious when you first walk inside and see nothing but people crowding around with beer in their glasses. Normally I would have grabbed a beer with my dinner but I also don't like to drink before flying, as the combination doesn't always agree with me. Thus we were probably the only table without going booze-free. The inside was way too crowded and loud for me, but luckily there were a couple of outdoor tables still available on the patio, and that area was perfect. Not only was it quieter but was also a prime location for crazy Floridian people watching.
For dinner I ordered the French Dip sandwich ($15.) The roast beef had a nice herbiness to it, and the beef itself had a good flavor to it. The provolone cheese was in perfect harmony with the beef and the bread was perfect for dipping into the au jus. The sandwich also came with an order of fries which were hot, crispy and potatoe-y. $15 was a bit much for a sandwich, but it was still a decent sandwich.
The missus ordered some kind of mushroom flatbread pizza ($13) that came with carmelized onions as on top as well. The flatbread was charcoaled and crispy...the perfect flavor and texture for what it was. I snagged a slice (after removing the mushrooms) and it was pretty darn good.
The place may be a bit costly, but that just comes with the Las Olas area. I feel that it is the one of the better options in the area. I wish I had come for a normal meal where I could have enjoyed a cold one with my meal, but it was good for what it was.
Bar crowds on Los Olas range from old to young, sparkly to slimy, affordable to cost prohibitive, etc. This bar's clientele falls into the "20-30ish semi-shiny crowd looking for an affordable option in Los Olas."
I personally don't even like Los Olas anymore - too many fake tans, Ferraris, and freaking obnoxious people, but when I go it's either here or Rocco's. Last time I went we won trivia on a Monday night, which was pretty cool, but moving around in here on a weekend should be an olympic sport. It seems like a place that would have had a lot of popped collars in the late 2000s.
Idk, if you're in your 20s or 30s and looking for a young crowd and standard bar menu (the food is pretty good), hit it up. There are really no other options because Fort Lauderdale sucks.
I was down in Fort Lauderdale for surgery and decided to meet a friend for dinner then night before.
this place is pretty quaint. Very chill vibe. Huge bar with many beers on tab. TV's circle the entire bar. The seating is spacious. There were pretty comforabtle couches towards the back side of the place.
We had the Amso Mac & Cheese with crab and also teh crab cakes. Both dishes were very delicious and filling.
Very chill spot to catch up with a friend, eat good food, and watch basketball.
I had a great time here and would revisit next time I'm in Florida.
Came here for dinner with 2 friends this evening and, unfortunately, it wasn't the best dining experience.
We requested an outside table and were quickly accommodated, and our waitress was friendly enough, but the food took too long to arrive and, it turned out, wasn't worth the wait.
I ordered the skirt steak with chimichurri sauce - the steak was really tough and the chimichurri sauce was just some parsley DRENCHED in oil. Â My whole plate was just covered in oil. Â I ordered roasted potatoes, and they actually got soggy from sitting in all of the oil on my plate. The meal was also pretty bland.
One of my friends ordered the salmon, which she said was ok - just salmon covered with what seemed like canned mangoes. Â This meal was also too oily.
My other friend ordered the burger, which was overcooked and completely unspectacular. Â The only highlight of the meal was the truffle french fries.
The atmosphere in the bar seemed nice enough, and I might come back for drinks, but I would never come back for the food.
I came to America Social for Sunday brunch while in Florida and had a great time at this bar/restaurant. Â I will say that they are a bit on the expensive side but the vibe and staff at this place is really nice. Â
It's a really laid back environment with TV's circling the entire bar so no matter where you're seated you will still get a great of any game you want to watch. Â
The seating is spacious and comfortable, the booth tables have beer on tap at the table that you can fill your cup and drink from without having to ask the waitress for another round... I thought this was pretty awesome.. Although it can get pricey since they charge by the ounce. Â
Sweet potato fries are tasty and the trio sliders I ordered were as well!
All in all I had a great time here and would revisit next time I'm in Florida.
I know this place is known for the huge selection of beers they serve so perhaps not being a beer drinker I should have avoided it-but the food was soooo mediocre (and I'm being nice) I had to yelp about it.
We went on a Sunday evening about 7-730 and noticed some outdoor seating, so we decided to give it a try after walking by it so many times. ( we are year round dtwn residents). Host was very friendly and hooked us up with a table outside, and after a few minutes a very sweet young lady came over, introduced herself as out server and got us some cocktails. So far so good we think.... Well then we ordered food and we were truly saddened that this place took a fast and furious nosedive towards mediocrity. I order the ASB burger, my partner the Tuscan burger, and we had the spinach dip for an appetizer. To break it down-
Spinach dip -was fair, Â but OBVIOUS that it was not house made, most likely a pre made food service product from a can or plastic tub. Chips served with it also pre made, but not terrible. Repeat-from a can....not cool.
The ASB burger- a thin, wimpy patty that was basically flavorless and had no char or seasoning to it. And the bun (again from a food vendor, NOT fresh made) was stale and very hard to chew....not good at all. All the burgers come with a side, so I got French Fries-cold, soggy and again, frozen out of a bag from a food vendor. Our server was nice enough to bring me hot fries, but they still weren't that good-mediocre fast food (at best) quality.
The Tuscan burger- wimpy sized under-seasoned patty with mushy, cooked arugula and some sort of roasted peppers...and guess what, they came of out a can as well! This was served with a side Cesar Salad that resembled a salad from the school cafeteria lunch line. It was chopped so small and stringy, and the croutons were seriously BURNED so badly they could not be taken seriously.
This is a place for beer lovers who eat before they go. Not sure who the owner/management thinks they are fooling with the horrible cafeteria quality (again being nicer that I should) food, but for the price we would NEVER eat here again. Bleeech...shame since we are the guys that are still here in July and August when many places in town are totally deserted.
Really is, as good as it gets. Great ambiance, fun & friendly staff, on point management and a solid list of craft beer options. I didn't eat, but the food smelled and looked great as it passed my table. The crowd was great also...this will definitely be a regular visit when I come up to Las Olas.
Review Source:My husband and I went to eat dinner here on a Saturday night. It was very busy! We checked in and were told the wait would be anywhere from 20-60 mins. We gave them our phone number and walked around until they called us. When we were called they seated us outside. I was a little upset because it was in the low 50s that night. They did have heaters going though.
The service was ok. Our server was a little slow but she had a lot of tables. They have a decent craft beer list. I am from Orlando and I noticed the beers I order in Orlando were a dollar or two more here. My husband got a burger and I got a salad. Both of them were ok. I wouldn't order either of them again. I was happy when the bill came. My six dollar cream ale beer was only $3! I asked the server if it was on special she said yes they had a couple beers they were trying to get rid of. Why wasn't I told this before? I would have ordered more!
I haven't had the chance to eat here so my review is based on the night life of American Social.
Let me start off by saying I enjoy a dive bar rather than an upscale martini bar, so I was happy to hear American Social was somewhere in the middle. However, this place just isn't for me. Â There always seems to be a line/a wait to get into this place. Â It's always so crowded, its hard to navigate through the crowd. This place reminds me of crowded college bar.
Sorry American Social, I'll try to give you another chance on a less busy night.
Spontaneously came here to grab some alcoholic libations. When you walk inside you realize it's obviously not a very defined establishment. It is a mix between a bar, a pub, a restaurant, and whatever else you want it to be. They have seating inside that is super comfy and outside for people watching! They have a pretty awesome selection of beers and taps on the wall like a frozen yogurt shop. I got to try the pretzel appetizer which sported some warm pretzel breads and sauces. Bonus points for the "ale cheese" dipping sauce! In a nutshell, the service was friendly and the beer was cold.
I would recommend you come and check it out at least once.
Had a fun experience here with a few friends. It was during NFL playoffs on a Saturday night and the place was beyond bumping. We put our name down for a table, walked around some more and got a call about 40 minutes later. We didn't get one of those cool tap tables but that's ok.
Our waitress was really nice and helped me pick a tasty cocktail. I don't remember which one it was but they all sounded good and mine actually was. We all shared a few snacks too- various sliders and fries. The sliders were REALLY good and the fries were fine. You know, they were fries. Biggest complaint was how SLOW everything was. I don't fault our waitress and I know they were busy but the sliders were probably not very hard to put together.
It's ok though because I would definitely go back with a reservation and maybe on a less crazy night!
For a few months now, I've been hearing about American Social and how awesome of a place it is. Beer tap at the table, chill vibe, young crowd- sounds like a winning recipe for a good time, but wow what a failure.
I did not try American Social out as a location to dine so I have no idea what this place is like early in the evening and as a restaurant, but as a bar on a Saturday night after 11pm, it is just not where you want to be. Well, I take that back. American Social is obviously where loads of people want to be, just not me.. and probably not others like me who also have a thing for personal space.
You know that scene in Finding Nemo (spoiler alert) where Nemo gets all the tuna that are trapped in the net to "swim down" so he can break the net and free Dory? Yeah, that's pretty much what I felt like coming in here, like I was in a packed tuna net. It's that kind of place where you have to grab your friends' hands and form a chain to navigate through the crowds and not get separated; the kind of place where you have to turn to the side and suck in your gut just to squeeze through the masses; The kind of place you know you will die in if a fire ever breaks out.
I didn't even get to have a drink on my one visit here because the bar was out of control. My guess is that unless you are looking for a beer or a vodka cran, you are not going to get a well crafted libation, not during the late hours at least.
The only reason I could see someone wanting to come here is if they are an FSU alumni. The guy who owns American Social is a Seminole and he actually brought down some of his troops from Tally to work the place. I am not an FSU alumni and therefore have no affiliation with the place nor an eagerness to revisit.
I gave American Social two stars opposed to one because I do think that Las Olas needed (and still needs) something to liven the line-up of restaurant after restaurant. Other than YOLO and Vibe which are more or less for the older crowd, if you go to Las Olas for dinner at one of the many great restaurants and want to follow up your meal with a beer and a chill scene, you have to go to Himmarshee street  which is either a hellacious walk (in heels) or having to get in your car and drive + pay for parking.  So I think the concept of having a young "divey" kind of bar in this area is great and all, but American Social is just not cutting it in my opinion.
Not my favorite spot- terrible service and the good is sub par. Â
The interior is ok but the music and sound is awful and way overbearing- it makes for an uncomfortable experience.
I wish it was better las olas could use more fun places to go but this is not it. Â Way too much of a drunken college scene.
American Social is a great addition to the Las Olas restaurant scene - I really like this place.
We walked up to the restaurant on a Monday night looking for some late night eats and a few drinks and sat outside to take in the warm night. Â That's when I noticed that Dennis Rodman was literally sitting at a table diagonal to me facing me. Â How I didn't realize that when I first got to the table just shows how unaware I am of my surroundings. Â But still, f*cking Dennis Rodman was sitting diagonal to me.
Where am I going with this. Â Uhm, American Social serves awesome meatballs and awesome flatbreads. Â The drinks aren't overpriced and the service was sweet. Â And every time someone asked Dennis "Are you Dennis Rodman?" he looked like his head was about to explode. Â He was a dick.
But yeah, American Social gets a super thumbs up.
This is def Lil' Tallahassee on Saturday. Seminole country!  Its crowded, loud, and overpriced! But it is def fun if you are there for the right reasons. Which is to watch the game & to reminisce  about those good ol' college years.
I was upset that I had to pay to park down the road, and there was no way to get a seat when i finally got in. Everyone was standing and packed in! I drank & ate standing up. Once I got over it and squeezed into a hole where I could get the bartender's attention, it was ok. Â I think the prices are marked up based on location, but the food IS of great quality & flavor.
When we got service nafter waiting 20 mintes the waiter, Brian, was rude and unhelpful coming by to say he'd be with us in a minute and came back in 10 more. The place in general doesn't know what it wants to be. Â My thought was mostly that it was douchebag central and not worth the hype.
Review Source:First visit.
* Hip and hot crowd
* Loud music
* Big Bar in the center
* Hot servers and bartenders
* Soft Pretzel Sticks with dipping sauces ($8) curry, ranch, beer cheese were tasty and warm
Nice corner spot on Las Olas. Looking forward to sitting outside when the weather is cooler and trying more food.
Cabeza OUT! Check out my blog <a href="/redir?url=http%3A%2F%2Fclubcabeza.blogspot.com%2F&s=fbcc986a45268278dc4c9f15d4b57bc000c6d6b6256503705908d1dc61dcb881" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://clubcabeza.blogsp…</a>
I like the place. I've been twice now and enjoyed myself both times. They have a great craft beer selection with prices slightly higher than Laser Wolf or Fat Cats, but cheaper than Tap 42. They have some quality beers priced at $6 or $7 apiece. The decor is pretty nice inside and the staff is friendly. Service seems a little slow at times but the place is still fairly new and they get very busy on the weekends.
I have only snacked on a couple of appetizers such as the pretzel sticks and grilled chicken flatbread that friends ordered but it was decent to above average bar food. I would mainly go here to have drinks and appetizers. It's a bar, and I don't think they are trying to be a dinner destination on Las Olas. It's a younger crowd compared to most places on Las Olas Blvd, but in my opinion that's not a bad thing and it's a little more sophisticated compared to the bars on Himmarshee/2nd Street. I did not think they were pretentious at all and will definitely be back. We had a great time watching football and having beers the last time I went (Go Noles!), but if you're going there to watch a big game, you may want to arrive early or there will be nowhere to sit, and there's not that much room inside for standing.
The first time I went we tried the pour your own taps, which is a cool concept and could come in handy when the bar is packed, but even tilting the glass correctly, a lot of foam came out and I didn't think we got our money's worth, so from now on I will avoid those and just order from a waiter or bartender.
The music does get loud but again, it's a bar and they have a DJ at night. If you are looking for a place to sit and have a quiet meal, then I don't recommend it. But as a bar, I think it's a great addition to Las Olas and plan to come back soon.
I went to American social while in town on business. Â I have to say I was very impressed especially hearing it was brand new which means they will only get better and better. Â The decor is classic and warm, servers were attractive and kind and the owner or manager came over and bought my table a round for coming in. Â There is nothing like some real hospitality, knowing that it is most peoples first time and letting them know you appreciate their patronage can go a long way.
For drinks well I love the tap system, it was really cool, they are on the cutting edge when it comes to craft beer self service. Â I also was impressed by their selection, a couple of my favorites they had where; Breckenridge Vanilla Porter, Dogfish IPA, Angry Orchard, and of coarse Tampa's own CIGAR CITY jai alai, and maduro YUMMM!!!
For food I tried the slider trio, and the Ahi Tuna. Â These are obviously on both sides of the food spectrum and I was very pleased with both. Â No it's not 4 star dining but the food was fresh and bursting with flavor, and considering it seems they are more focused on drinks it was a great surprise!!!
I will be back.
I think this has great potential. I did not eat here on my first visit because I was timid due to some gut wrenching reviews. So we came in at around 1:30 for a beer and to scope the place out. I first off love the bar stools. They are the most plush comfortable seats I've ever been. Like my boyfriend said, "I could sit in this all day." So I liked the decor, and I loved the idea of the serve yourself beer taps. Only problem: if you can't get to the two tables and dine at the one with the beer you like, you can't have that beer. They didn't have any menu/board to tell you which were available in the taps at the table or the wall. So I didn't figure it out until I ordered my first beer.
Nikki, our bar tender, was extremely helpful and pleasant. We were allowed to sample any beer on tap we wanted to test, and I love that. All the food we saw come out to the customers looked very good and no dish was returned or uneaten in the 2 hours I was there. So I really can't wait to go back to test those taps out some more and absolutely try the food. There are so many options that tempt my taste buds. I don't know how busy it get late at night, and what issues they may have, but when I went it was very relaxing. On top of that, they are a newly opened restaurant, they need time to adjust.
They have a decent beer selection and a really friendly staff, and for me the highlight of the place was the self-serve beer taps available at some of the booths. Â Unfortunately the place was packed to the gills inside, extremely loud, covered with big-screen TVs and loaded with hooting, moderately obnoxious kids (but not way-over-the-top frat boys like Himmarshee Village or the ambulance-chaser lawyers you see at YOLO... These were second-tier douches in training, bearable from a distance in small doses). Â So we sat outside where it was more relaxed and not super-loud, but unfortunately there are no self-serve taps outside. Â
I'm DEFINITELY going to return on a weekday afternoon just to check out the tech behind those self-serve taps - it's a beer version of the concept that Vino Venue pulled off with wine in San Francisco. Â It looks like you can choose from among 4 different beers at your table, and then pour a little to taste or a lot to drink whenever you want, and a digital display right there shows how much has been dispensed and how much you owe. Â Like a gas station for alcoholics... It's a wonderful gimmick. Â I'm extremely curious about how many beers you can choose from, and if it's more than 4, how do they clear out the lines when patrons change their choices?
Basic but tasty pub grub. Â Tuna salad sandwich was delicious. Â Chicken philly cheesesteak (with honey-mustard sauce - huh?) was very tasty even though I'm not usually a huge fan of sweet sauces. Â
Worth a visit, but I recommend a weeknight or an afternoon. Â And if you want to have much of a conversation with your dinner/drinking mate, it's probably not the place for that.
I really wanted to like this place .  It did invade a key spot on Las Olas Blvd. which is saying a  lot.  Unfortunately, this noisy, messy, mismanaged bar is a pimple on the classiest street in Fort Lauderdale.  Tasteless decor accents the countless TVs.  You'd have to scream to have any type of conversation.  It is overpriced.  The staff barely greet you as you fight to order a drink at an empty bar.
This place has NO redeeming qualities. Â It does NOT belong on Las Olas. Â I give it six months. Don't waste your time or money.
I wandered into this place for dinner while on business in town last week. Â The entire bar area was packed and it was very loud. Â I left and found another place for dinner.
My meetings the next morning were done early, so I wandered over here again and found a seat at the bar for lunch. Â Business was brisk but the noise level was just fine for my liking. Â
I had an iced tea and a corned beef sandwich. Â I was so happy with my choice. Â The corned beef was from Carnegie Deli in New York. Â The accompanying fries were well cooked and delicious. Â Service was prompt and friendly.
I'll come back, but will probably be on a quieter evening or for lunch.
I had high expectations for the much talked about and highly anticipated arrival of American Social. Sadly, it came nowhere close to meeting my expectations.
Without further adieu, my suggestion is to try the place to the left or right
For good selection of beer with cheap prices, I suggest Laser Wolf or Fatcats.
For good food, I suggest Rok: BRGR.
For a less pretentious feeling from an establishment, I suggest Fatcats.
For a laid back ambiance, I suggest America's Backyard
Below is why I make these suggestions.
Walking in, the first thing my girlfriend notice is how pretentious it feels and deafening loud it is in there. Maybe, they are trying to promote intimacy between their clients and staff, but seriously, it was loud. The live act in the corner was completely droned out.
The place was packed and our wait was twenty minutes, but luckily we nestled ourselves at the bar by the taps. Speaking of taps, there are taps everywhere. Special tables with four taps are present at American Social just as long one is willing to spend $100/hr to occupy the space. This is what was told to me by a manager. I wonder how transparent they are with that tidbit and how strong they enforce the rule.
Back at the bar, we decide to order beer and food because, after all, it is happy hour. American Social has a WEAK happy hour. It is only $1 off drafts. At least, they ahve a good selection of drafts: Dale's Pale, Angry Orchard, Cigar CIty Jai Lai, Maduro, and Chimay. This is to name a few. The lady settles on the Angry Orchard, while I go for a Maduro and we both agree upon the Wild Mushroom and Truffle flatbread.
We enjoyed the beer thoroughly, however, the food was awful. The flatbread lacked any taste, presentation was shoddy, and to top it off it is not cheap. They tried to flavor it, I promise this is no exaggeration, with one shredded basil leave. Salt and pepper were non-existent. Has the cook or chef ever heard of salt and peppa and I do not mean the singers? I am just wondering what the other food taste like if they screw up something simple like flatbread. I made better flatbread imitations when I was kid with my pizza lunchables. American Social's flatbread is a JOKE.
Yes, I have been harsh, but I paid for a good experience and it was sub-par. My highlight besides my company was the waitress saying she loved my last name and it was a rock star last name. Not good for the establishment. Also, not good was how the service was very bipolar. I cannot count how many times I got ignored by a bartender having a conversation with her visiting girlfriends right next to me. It is one saving grace is it just opened, so yes, I do plan on returning because of their solid beer selection and I owe them to correct their mistakes
