Las Olas Wine Cafe

Decent sandwiches. Fair wine selection (no prices on bottles for sale). Poor purchase policy. Poor service.

We stopped by to try this out. It is in a little alley way off Las Olas. The interior was a familiar sight, wine in self serving vexing machines. You choose the wine and one of the 3 pour sizes. This is nothing new but the manner in which you participate is different that our prior experiences with this kind of dispensary.

Elsewhere, you purchase by the actual drink(s). Here you need to purchase a card with a minimum purchase price. This means that you most likely will have some change left over on the card when you leave, unless you add to it and continue to drink. We didn't like that.

Next, the service was friendly but non-attentive. We were seated, read the rules, escorted to the counter to purchase our card, then basically ignored. We took our drinks, looked around, and noticed there was food. had to aggressively capture the servers attention to order some food.

We moved from inside to out to finish all then wandered away never to return.

Great place for a light lunch and a relaxed afternoon. Nice fresh sandwiches and tapas matched with wine suggestions. Quiet inner courtyard off the street. A fantastic way to sample a bunch of different new wines.

Used to be a great place, but has gone completely downhill.  We were here a year ago and had an excellent experience, so we searched out the place this year.  What a difference!  My wife and I are both very experienced in wine, and the servers here are not. Half the wines were empty, the place was not busy, and two of the wines we had were faulted.  When we told the staff, they did not care.  Stephanie said "it is probably just not your style of wine" when the other guy said "what do you mean by faulted?".  Clearly no idea.  Then I asked her if they taste every wine before serving it to customers and she said "they are all fresh when we open them."  HAH!  She finally snobishly offered to "make us happy" but only with their "house wine" which was crap.  I asked for Stephanie to at least cover the bad wines we dumped to which she said they can't do that.  long story short, if you know anything about wine, do not come here unless you are looking for a good laugh!  Oh, and ask for Stephanie!  :)
