Had lunch and the beef brisket was the best I have ever had. Great atmosphere and very reasonably priced. Wait staff was wonderful. Great food, great price, great service - what more is there?

After moving to St. Louis and learning Blueberry Hill was THE place to eat at if you wanted to experience true St. Louis based food. I have to say that if this place represents the food this city has to offer, I think you should find a better representation for the food here. After living in town for a few months, I've come to learn that it is in fact more of a touristy kind of place but locals still enjoy going there to see shows, drink some brews and grabbing a quick bite to eat. I can see the why people come here but I don't see why it is a place to continue to return to. I had the special of the day, which was the sloppy joe served with potato chips. I did enjoy it, at first, then my heart began to give out because of all the grease. hahaha. They have other, less greasier options but the menu is massive and I just couldn't decide on what I wanted because there was so much to choose from. The service was good, there are a lot of hipster kids working there which I found hilarious. Hipsters look cool, what can I say?

The environment was really neat, a bunch of things to look at on the walls and the restaurant itself is huge and filled with knick knacks all over the place. It does get kind of loud in there but nothing unmanageable. One thing that I did like was the live music area.  Tucked away in the basement, there was a huge stage and plenty of room for dancing, along with a full bar. The atmosphere was neat and and aspect I would definitely return to. As far as the food goes, I don't feel like I am missing out on much.

As far as the touristy aspect, I WAS expecting to meet Chuck Berry. I'm just saying, I thought it would've been cool if he was in the back cooking burgers or something.

I wish I could give half ratings. I wouldn't quite give it a 4 but 3 seems a bit low.

The local vibe is felt here, and the legendary Chuck Berry is said to play here once a month. The wooden booths are intimate and there is low lighting. Now, for those that know and read my reviews, you know I don't like dim places. I like to see my food clearly. And let's face it. I need good lighting to take those food pictures. But it wasn't too bad a lighting.

The service was fine. I ordered a regular classic burger with Provel cheese. Now I thought this was Provolone cheese (ha) so I picked the wrong cheese. Stick to cheddar cheese people. Anyway the beef was thick and had a barbecued flavor to it. It really reminded me of grilling with friends and having a good ol' burger.

The fries were pretty good also.
But with so many other great options in downtown St. Louis, I would pass and try other places. Unless you want to hear Chuck Berry, of course.

Came on a Friday for lunch and the place was not crowded at all.  A lot of the customers opted to sit outside but we went in.  Ordered a burger and fish and chips.  Both were okay but nothing special.  On a positive side, the prices seemed very reasonable for a tourist area.

The wait staff here represent a veritable rainbow of the unfortunate run-ins one may have with the motley crew that are St. Louisians. Therefore, in a way, for the "off the beaten path" tourist, this place is perfect- the only sheen to be found here lies on the overly groomed mustaches of vain employees I regret are all too telling of how unseemly us hometowners can sometimes be.

Three stars for the food, then take them away for the service but add two back for owning Delmar Loop's only photo booth- legend has it the thing even works, sometimes.

Went to Blueberry Hill last night for the first time in a few years. Had great service, the kiddies loved looking at the toy displays, the buffalo fries are still awesome, and the burgers are still good. Yes, just good; not the best one I've ever had, but the burgers are consistently...good. I always bring out-of-town guests here, and it's always a hit.

meh. the place is alright. the moose heads on the wall are a bit creepy but set the tone if you're in the mood for a drunken gaston song. come here with lots of friends and you're sure to have lots of fun.. but then again you can go to turtle park with a bunch of friends and you'll be sure to have fun only difference is that you can get alcohol here. my favorite thing about the place is the bathroom because someone wrote, "this way to the ministry of magic" above the toilet; if you are a female be sure to visit it. oh yea, and the table tops are always sticky with residue from previous customers' sugary sodas or drinks and the booths make an effort to hurt you when you're getting in and out.

Blueberry Hill is a loop mainstay and a tourist trap for people visiting St. Louis, probably due to the Chuck Berry connection. I have eaten there for about a decade now and I am pleased to report that their burgers and menu haven't changed much since then, though you can get a bigger and tastier burger in my opinion at Five Guys now (which hit St. Louis in the late 2000s) for less.  Their buffalo fries are worth the extra dollar or so to get them over the regular fries, since they are served like chip fries.

Really good burger. Decent mainstream beer selection including a few local choices.

We went here with my daughter on her recommendation and we were pleasantly surprised.  It's a quirky, fun restaurant with a nice, well rounded menu, great service and the food was great.  We will be back to try more menu items the next time we are in St. Louis.

The food here is your classic fried fare and predictable hamburger-centric menu. The draw of Blueberry Hill is the historic, music-driven feel and the walk down memory lane inspired by the collection of music posters on the walls. The bf and I brought our friend from back home (CA) here to experience some local flavor and check out The Loop area, so while food wasn't really the priority, I was still a bit disappointed with the meal. I ordered the veggie burger with the spreadable cheddar at the suggestion of our server. Public service announcement: "spreadable cheddar" is an abomination to all cheeses (and I say this in the land of the hallowed Provel) and should be avoided. It tastes like eating the powder from a kraft mac-n-cheese box mix (don't act like you're too cool to have tried it). The veggie burger itself was nothing spectacular, definitely out of the box, but dressed well with fresh tomato and lettuce. The mozzarella sticks were probably the highlight of my entire experience... but it's kinda hard to screw up fried cheese. They have a solid beer menu, and I'm sure this place would be a fun if you were just popping in for some appetizers and drinks. Overall, it's not really my style for dinner, but the service was friendly (besides cursing me with the most disgusting cheese on my burger) and the experience was pretty low-key and fun. It reminds me a tiiiiiiny bit of Madison Bear Garden in Chico (but NOWHERE NEAR AS MAJESTIC), just because of the colorful walls crowded with posters and the sticky wood tabletops.

Don't know how many times I've been here, but over the years I have always enjoyed this place.

The food is great, cheap and more often then not rather fast. I've never been here without 6-8 friends and they have always found room for us with little fuss.

The place is huge and while I've been there many times, I never knew they had a dart room, which I can't wait to try out some time! Funny that I have missed it all these years!

Just wanted to mention that this place has some very unique hot sauce. It almost tastes as if it has liquor in it?! Anyway, it made my turkey burger a lot tastier.

    Ambience is fun.  Totally.
The food is meh.  Coupled with the service (which borders on terrible), not splitting checks and the VERY cramped seating in some places of the restaurant (yes, I'm fat.... but it goes beyond that- no one wants to be that close to each other) I won't ever go back.  I possibly would if the food was outsanding, but it's not.

Blueberry Hill is the type of place that I will go to if people want to go there but I wouldn't choose on my own.  The food is always fine.  The fun thing that they have to offer is all of the memorabilia on the walls and in cases.  But for me, once you've seen that once, you've seen it a hundred times.  Its a decent hangout but neither the food or the service is good enough to leave me craving more.  So, you will get a decent burger here or some mildly interesting apps like the buffalo fries or cheese balls, but I don't think you'll find much you haven't seen before.

Seating is usually self-service which is nice because you can sit quickly but then you might have to wait a few minutes before a server knows you're there.

Nothing to write home about. I'm sure it would be fun if you were with a group of people, drinking, dancing, whatever. Lunch was just average in my book. Too many good places to try to go again.

I'm sure the food (at least the burger) is awesome, but we came for beer and darts, and those two elements did not disappoint.

I would have even added an extra star had the ambiance somehow been able to boost my sad dart skills.

Expect to wait, but its worth it to look around the memorabilia of the place!

This place is pretty unique.  Where some people hide their hoards in garages, the owner puts out his massive collection on display.  Everything from Simpsons, sports, music, animal heads, juke boxes, and the list goes on.  You name it and there is a decent chance there is something on display here.  Pictures of celebrities who have visited also take up space along all the walls between the various collections.

You can, unfortunately, expect a bit of wait for food once you are seated as the service tends to be a bit slow.  I feel this is outweighed by the food you receive.

Indulge yourself with cheddar cheese balls or hot pretzel sticks with nacho cheese (hold onto this for your fries later!) for starters.

For the main course move onto a juicy,  7oz (you can get 5oz) hickory burger with soft spread cheddar. The burgers are always cooked to my specified medium request, with a decent grill crust to seal in the flavor.  The soft spread cheddar really pulls this burger together for me.  It just adds a texture and flavor to the burger that takes it up a notch.

Go ahead and order that small order of fries to share with your companion, my wife and I do.  Perfectly salted and ready for dipping in that nacho cheese you saved from the pretzels earlier.

This meal will have you coming back for more, it does for me!

Why 5 stars? Because this burger sits atop the BCS ranklngs.

For my 365th review in my first year as a Yelper, I'd like to recognize the greatness of Blueberry Hill. They are up for the National Championship this year in the "BCS." With plenty of underclassmen at the skilled positions, they are poised to compete for a very long time. I loved this place, despite it's touristy feel. It seemed like a restaurant that tourists love to frequent, but that locals can still appreciate.

There's all kinds of random merchandise all over this giant establishment. I kind of wish I could have cool displays like this at my house, but I get anxiety from ever hoarding anything. I like to throw un-used items out... but I can appreciate a place like Blueberry Hill that keeps everything for our oo'ing and ahh'ing pleasure.

I was EXTREMELY disappointed with this place. The food was not very good and the service was HORRIBLE! We were a large group so the tip was included in the bill but we would not have left a tip otherwise. It was too bad because the ambience is so fun.

First time there, even though been by it many times.  Service was great and so was the food.  I had the Reuben, which was I thought one of the better ones I have had in St. Louis.  My wife had a burger, which she said was cooked just right and was good.  Only change would make is fries instead of chips, but would not change my opinion anyway.  All the cool "nick nacks", were fun to look at.  Will go back.

I've been to Blueberry going on a million times over the course of the last 20 years, but I've only ever eaten there once or twice. The rest of the time I was of course getting my drink on. #PrioritiesFAIL

Last night was my little brother's birthday. He's there all the time. He's the eight year-old black kid with the dreadlocks. (If you see him down there, feel free to say hello.) We had a nice, long table in the back room with the dart boards. The scene was kinda sparse, because I heard there was a big event downtown, but then I've never needed other people around to have a good time, now have I?

There's an extensive list of beers you can order from, but I just stuck with my usual Miller High Life longnecks, because I find pretty much any beer to be fantastic; because my primary objective last night was to put on a drunk, not to taste orange peels or anything; and because I don't want to be that guy who spends 20 minutes studying the menu. It's not that serious.

A selection of appetizers was ordered for the table. Maybe I should have been more proactive in stating my preference? We got a couple of things of chicken wings, which is never a bad selection anywhere, even - god forbid - Pizza Hut, but I wasn't as crazy about the other things we got. The cheese balls, or whatever they're called, didn't taste like anything you couldn't get in a big 10 gallon container from the frozen food section at Sam's Club -  though I did appreciate how unhealthy they seemed, as a matter of principle. Buffalo fries seem like they would be something other than a lump of deep fried potato in the shape of one of those deep fried pickles they sell at the almighty Hooters, like a tater tot someone stepped on, but no, they aren't.

Several rounds of shots and a shedload of beers were brought to the table throughout the course of the evening. Things got a little bit rowdy at times, but that didn't seem to be an issue. I've had people there tell me I needed to tone it down, but I don't think they actually worked there. You know how people like to stay in your business. I know like half the people who work there, and some of them even took part in the festivities. One dude was already borderline comatose with his head down on a table by the time I got there at like 7:30. Of course I give the entire staff five stars.

I went with the Wagyu Burger, which is a relatively new addition to the menu, and I suspect is a response to the notion that the food at Blueberry actually isn't that good. The burger there was once routinely selected as the best burger in the area, but that was before a lot of places had good burgers - the pre-Yelp era. The new Wagyu burger boasts a full half-pound of "Australian Wagyu" beef, plus bacon (bonus!) and a fried egg on some sort of special bun. It comes in a plastic tray with a sheet of tissue paper and a handful of tater tots that taste just like the ones they serve in high school, i.e. delicious.

The special Wagyu beef didn't strike me as being much better than, say, the burgers at Culpeppers, around the corner from where I grew up in Creve Coeur, top of the food chain. It was fine, but I think they're trying to pull a fast one with the fancy name.I asked the guy who brought it out if I could get it mid-rare, and he was like, of course. Of course it wasn't anywhere near mid-rare. (Few places really will sell you a damn near rare burger.)  I wonder if that was because they couldn't really be sure where that Wagyu beef came from. Maybe that was just the cow's - or one of the cows' - nickname.

Still, I'd put the Wagyu Burger up there in the top five burgers I've ever had, with the caveat that I haven't been able to try as many burgers as I'd like to, due to personal failings. And it's not like you go to Blueberry to eat gourmet food anyway. It's all about the atmosphere, the location, the toy collection, the occasional hot chick, the cool rock club in the basement, and the condoned drunkenness. The great burger is just an added bonus.

When in Rome act like a jackass? That was apparently the mood my 67 year old father/lunch partner was in yesterday during lunch at this historic STL landmark restaurant.

Dear Dad: I get that you are a Republican. I don't judge you for it....in fact I agree with a lot of your fiscal policy. That being said, why in God's name would you feel the need to not only talk politics at a bar - LET ALONE THIS BAR IN UCITY WITH YOUR MEGAPHONE VOICE? I was mortified.

Was the Slinger Wagyu burger fantastic....yeah if you could over the paranoia that the hipster in back hadn't just pee'd on it out of pure spite for me bringing Bob Dole into the bar.

The quality of food has gone down a bit since I used to frequent Blueberry Hill about five years ago, but it's still pretty good. Nothing fancy. They used to have the best fettuccine alfredo in the history of the pasta world, but they've since replaced it with mac 'n cheese, which is bland and unassuming. Their "best in St Louis" rated burgers are, uh, nothing to write home about. Cole slaw was good, the veggie sandwich was good, but nothing stood out. You could easily go almost anywhere else and get the same items for cheaper.

The atmosphere alone is why I'm giving this 3 stars instead of 2. The atmosphere itself deserves 5 stars. All the incredible vintage paraphernalia and music collectibles just make this place unique and interesting. You'll never look at everything, because there's so much to look at.

However, be warned: it gets loud. Annoying kids, even more annoying parents, live bands, and crowded tables make for a not so comfortable atmosphere late at night. I love a good live show, but not at the expense of being able to talk to friends over a drink or a good appetizer.

Sorry, Chuck Berry - this place needs a menu rehash, ASAP.

I get why everyone suggests this place when you visit the area.
It's interesting. Like a hipster version of Applebees with fun stuff on the walls and a historical ambiance.

    Other than that...
    Meh.
    Food is OK.
    The burgers are tasty.
The thing that irks me the most?
They dont split checks. They leave it up to you to figure out, who, at your table of 7, had cheese on their burger ($) who got which soda, tax included, and write down how much to put on each card.
So, after a long day and just wanting a quick bite to eat, my friends and I were left there, 15 min longer...trying to make the server's life easier. Not the customers... but, the place of business.

After having been there twice and not really being impressed, I probably wont be stopping in again when I'm visiting The Loop.

    Ohhhh Blueberry Hill....

Upon walking in you are hit with wall after wall of childhood nostalgia as well as fun nick-nacks. It's an incredible decor that would take hours to look through completely, and I always see something I haven't seen before when I come in.

Food seems to be what the major problem is here. It's overpriced bar food that is usually either bland or absolutely terrible. My trick is just to share appetizers with friends. Maybe split a basket of their fried cheddar cheese balls and some chicken strips.

The drinks are great. Never had a problem with bar service.

Service can be pretty terrible. The worst is late at night when you have to wait at the kitchen window to get your own food. For such a large and successful restaurant, you would expect at least one late night waiter.

All in all, it's a must see staple for St. Louis, but don't get your hopes up too terribly high.

I had lunch here on Thursday, 7/12.  Cute place, great vibe.  Probably one of the world's worst bowls of French Onion Soup possible.  The balance of the 'bar food' sty;e lunch was okay.  Nothing to write home about, just okay.

Would I eat here again?  Yes.  If I was on the show survivor and Blueberry Hill were the only place to eat I would eat here before starving to death.  Sooner than die from starvation in a life and death situation one could survive.

When you go here, get the dinner portion of macaroni and cheese.  Then you can try the three best things they have: mac n cheese, house prepped butter, and cucumber dressing. Although, of course, you can't go wrong with anything fried; the fried zucchini has gotten me through a couple hangovers.

This can be a fun place to go for a drink, too.

When you walk in, the vibe here is pretty awesome! There's all sorts of memorabilia of St. Louis and it makes it a great place to be as a tourist (which I was!).

    Appetizers:
Cheddar Cheese Balls - These are absolutely delicious. It's not overly breaded and once you bite in, there's an amazing burst of cheddar cheese with a little heat added.

Toasted Ravioli - These were really good. Like the cheese balls, these didn't have too much bread and still tasted great.  I really wish there were more for the price though.

    Mains:
Wagyu Burger - The egg sort of takes over the entire burger's flavor, and it's a bit runny, so the burger eventually turns messy and a bit hard to eat. But it's a big burger and fills you up. Unforutnately the tater tots that came with it tasted a bit undercooked and bitter. =

tl;dr - the burgers are alright, but the apps are what it's all about!

In order to have some food in our stomachs before going to St Louis Microfest 2012, the D's and T's  stopped in for burgers at Blueberry Hill.  On this occasion we all ordered burgers of one sort or another.  All of us were happy with them.  Blueberry Hill makes a good burger and I will have to get back for another one to see if they are consistent.

Ms T and Mr D had 5 oz Hickory burgers.  Ms D and I had the regular 5 oz burgers dressed up.  I added bacon and mushrooms and cheese.  My burger was properly cooked, the way I asked.  It had grill crust and good seasoning.  It seems that I am having trouble finding many burgers that have both.  I know a lot of people feel BB Hill's burgers are over rated.  I felt they were solid efforts on this night.

A truly great place to grab dinner, have a beer, see a show, play some darts, or whatever else, Blueberry Hill truly is a St Louis highlight.

As far as their food goes I would say it's solid bar food, nothing exceptional but definitely good.  For me the real highlight here is the atmosphere and dart room, both of which I think can give you a real feel for St Louis.  Blueberry Hill is a classic STL institution that is definitely worth a visit when in town.

I came to Blueberry Hill on my first afternoon in St. Louis on a recent trip to visit an old college friend. We'd already had lunch, and we were out enjoying the Loop until the evening activities. So-- no need for food, just time on our side.

This was a great place to kill some time, catch up, and get a feel for some local flavor. We ordered a pitcher of beer, got some darts, and headed for a large room with about a dozen dart boards. It was mid-afternoon on a weekday, so we had no problem having lots of room for our game (which I need-- I'm not very accurate with flying sharp objects). Overall, Blueberry Hill was exactly what I needed it to be.

There had been some kind of kitchen fire or fryer malfunction or something, so the three rooms up front were quite smokey. At first I was concerned that St. Louis didn't have a smoking ban (as I'm used to state-wide in Ohio), but turns out it was just the kitchen.

There's lots of stuff on the walls-- it made for hilarious conversation starters, especially the mass amounts of pictures of the owner with different celebrities through the ages.

On my way out, I saw Chuck Berry, in the flesh, in his signature captain's hat.

All-in-all, Blueberry Hill was a good experience, if a tad gimmicky. I'm glad I went, but I probably don't need to make a return visit.

Mmmmm.  Two words: Classic and Delicious.

Of all the places my brother wanted to take me during my visit to St. Louis, Blueberry Hill was the top choice.  Walking in, you can tell this place has HISTORY.  The decor is inviting and whimsical, with warm wooden booths and various decorations along the walls.  The restaurant is very large too.  My one gripe is that the bathrooms are less than stellar (ex:. there is a nice Dyson hand dryer, except its busted) and matched the "Bar" in the Blueberry Hill title more than the "Restaurant."

But on to the more important details: Food and Service.  We ordered their signature burgers, fried ravioli, and buffalo chips with hickory sauce.  KNOCKOUT MEAL.  Service was quality.

Burgers were excellently crafted, we wolfed down the fried ravioli and buffalo chips.  Man, those buffalo chips were DELICIOUS, full of flavor, crispy on the outside and warm potato goodness on the inside.  Dip in it in the cool hickory sauce and that right there is a quality side.

My one recommendation for the burgers is to pay the extra 50 or so cents and get the fried onions.  The raw onion slices were too big for the burgers and made them harder to wolf down.  Other than that, if you ordered what we ordered, you'll come out satisfied.

Oh and since you'll be stuffed after that meal, I recommend taking a walk in the Botanical Garden or Forest Park, but that's for another review.

Came here for dinner last night and then after going to the Tivoli for a few cocktails with friends.  First, the place has a lot of character.  Each part of the restaurant kind of has its own theme and vibe which certainly makes it appeal to a lot of different types of people.  The place is plastered with photos of the bands and performers who have passed through and had shows at the place and it is really neat to just peruse the place and look at everything.

The game room is absolutely huge and plenty of space to spread out and get a dart game going or to watch whatever game happens to be on.  There is also a nice little enclosed area outside for smokers that has some heaters.

The food here is excellent. There were so many items on the menu that I wanted to try but I had to get the 7oz burger with the soft cheddar and it is to die for.  A few of my friends had the grilled cheese which looked awesome as well.  I'll have to check that out next time.   As others have noted they are pretty generous with their liquor pours so be ready for that.

Only downside kind of was the service, it wasn't super busy both times we were in there but we felt just a little neglected by our server both at our table for dinner and the bartenders when we stopped through again for a night cap.  It wasn't too bad but it was notable to the point where we all commented on how slow it seemed to be.

All in all, a fun place to have dinner and drinks with friends.  Definitely recommended stop if you are going to see a show at the Tivoli before also.

I've been going to Blueberry Hill since before I could drink (it gets substantially better when you can), so I have that inherent bias that's wrapped up in lot of good memories.

There are a lot of good things about Blueberry Hill. It's a great place to take out-of-towners, it's a St. Louis institution, and Chuck Berry plays there. I love the decor, the rotating window display, the board games on the tables, the photo booth, etc. It has personality. The food is served with a stack of paper plates and I like that, because they're not trying to convince you they're classy.

I consistently order the 5 oz. burger ($5.50 and just the right size) with American. Add the grilled onions ($0.50) for something extra and split the large fries ($5.75) with a friend. The wings are a good starter if you're super hungry, and the French onion soup always looks legit when others order it. They have Strongbow Cider ($14.50 for a pitcher) on TAP, which is awesome, and their list of domestic and imported bottles offers something for pretty much everyone. You can sit on the left side of the restaurant for dinner and get a dimly lit booth, which is the kind of atmosphere I appreciate.

I can understand where the bad word of mouth comes from, and I will admit that some people I have taken here have been unimpressed. The service is pretty consistently apathetic, which can be a little annoying depending on your expectations. Veering from the "standard" menu offerings is, I have found, a mistake. In an attempt to be healthy I ordered the Jerk Chicken Breast ($7.95), which was a bland chicken breast with long grain and wild rice (meh) and a dinner salad (double meh). Sitting on the right side of the restaurant during lunch is a total mistake unless you like screaming children. Depending on who you are, these can be overwhelming cons.

Blueberry Hill could be great. They should probably limit the menu, serve bar food, and OWN it. Don't offer a healthy option that sucks. It might not be amazing, but I will continue to go here and appreciate the good burgers, the cold beer, and the general ambience that is Blueberry Hill.

Came back to Blueberry Hill for a double date last night. I love that Blueberry Hill is open 365 days a year, although the more I think about it, the more I feel bad for the servers/staff that have to work Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc.

Anyway, we started with the chicken strips appetizer. They were super tasty, and pretty large!

For my entree, I was really tempted to order the burger (after my amazing experience with their burger a few years ago), but I decided to go with the vegetarian lasagna instead. Trying to be a *bit* healthier in 2012! It came with a side salad. The lasagna was really tasty and super filling, and the salad was decent. It also came with a huge hunk of bread with some sort of herb butter. Not bad.

Our waitress was super friendly and efficient. I don't have any complaints about Blueberry Hill. I think it's a pretty solid spot in the loop. I'll be back!

The best part of my meal was the bread that came with my salad. A HUGE chunk of it, slathered with some kind of herb butter. Yum!

Came here for lunch with fellow Yelpers. We got the cheddar balls with ranch as an appetizer. Get half off an app by having 3 people check in on Foursquare. They were pretty good, but not amazing, and neither was the ranch. I got the mac n' cheese and a salad. The salad was ok, the dressing (house) was ok, the mac n cheese was ok. Nothing special with any of it, except the bread.

The waitress was efficient but not friendly. They wouldn't give us separate checks, though they did let us pay separately. Bummer for groups coming who want different checks. At one point, my sister dropped by and was going to join us. They wouldn't let us put a chair at the end of the booth, nor did they offer to let us move so she could eat with us. She ended up leaving instead - lost business.

    Meh.

I typically head to Blueberry Hill only for live music in the Duck Room, but I still find the rest of the restaurant intriguing when I actually have a chance to wander through the other parts.

The Duck Room - named for STL native Chuck Berry's famous strut as well as all the duck memorabilia on the shelves - feels like a warm, dark cave. You creep down a narrow stairwell to what seems like a giant, low-ceilinged wine cellar. There's a bar toward the back, and the bands' merch tables usually are set up between the bar and the door.

If you want to sit, there are maybe 20 tiny low pub tables scattered around; if you want one, get there early. I'm not a sitter, so I lean against one of the wooden beams until the show starts. There's a decent sized space for jumping, dancing and head-bobbing right in front of the stage, but if more than 20 people decide to flail at once, it's a bit cramped. The stage is about a foot and a half from the ground, so it's easy to bond with the musician and the music; it's also nice not to cran your neck all night.

Indie rock seems to be the primary concert genre for the Duck Room, but straight-up rock, rockabilly, pop and other genres are represented, too. My favorite acts: Will Hoge, Jump (Little Children), KT Tunstall. And don't forget that the legendary Chuck Berry performs about once a month and usually has a great local band opening for him. Snap up those tickets the second they go on sale, because the show WILL sell out. Tickets for Duck Room artists generally are $5-20, though I think Mr. Berry runs about $30.

The rest of Blueberry hill is pretty cool. There are several rooms to hang out in, and there's crazy toys and memorabilia everywhere. They also have darts and the usual kind of bar stuff. Don't forget to look for the photo booth!

I've only eaten here once, and my meal consisted of cheese sticks and breaded mushrooms a couple of years ago. My friends swear by the burgers and beer, though. And a friend who used to be a server here said that it was the best job he's ever had (that wasn't in his preferred field).

Inside is smokefree now - hooray! Smokers are on some patio or smoke room or something.

Because it's in the Loop, Blueberry Hill is easily reachable by bus or light rail.
