Decided to check this place out because India House is under renovations and it was the closest "Indian" place.  In the future, I think I'll walk the extra .25 miles so I can actually have traditional Indian food and decent service.

A few friends and I showed up around 7pm and were happy to find that there were a few open tables.  The hostess informed up that she was just going to clear the table off and we'd be sat.

    Awesome... or so we thought.

We watched the table be cleared but then the hostess didn't reappear.  We waited a few more minutes and we were still standing waiting to be seated.  Finally, we tracked the hostess down to be sat.  Apparently, when she meant the table was being cleared it wasn't for us but for a reservation and that it would be another 45 minutes before we could be sat.

Sorry?  Didn't you tell us the table was being cleared for us?

So we asked about the other open tables.  Also for reservations.

I managed to make a reservation (thank you, smart phones) and we were sat within 5 minutes.  The individuals that had the other reservations?  Never showed up.  Way to lose money there, Bombay Spice.

Of course, the hostess couldn't resist getting a condescending jab in at me: "Funny, we didn't have a reservation for you a few minutes ago.  Did you just make a reservation on your phone to be sat? Smart phones are just dandy, aren't they?"  Great customer service, there.

We were sat and then waited what felt like forever just for water.  When we finally ordered, the food came quickly but that's the only thing that was timely.  It took us quite a bit of time to track down our waitress (this is a small restaurant, it shouldn't have been that hard) and when we finally got the check and handed it back to her, it took 10 minutes for her to return.  Bombay Spice has an appalling lack of service.

All in all, the food was okay but definitely not authentically Indian (as one reviewer stated, it's more like Noodles and Co where you pick your base, sauce, and ingredients).  However, the horrendous service and lack of respect by waitstaff is enough to keep me away from Bombay Spice in the future.

Wow!! Loved this place! Excellent service and modern Indian food. Leaves you feeling healthy and full for some reason :)

Nice little lunch place serving westernized Indian fare. I don't usually go to less-authentic places for Indian, but Bombay Spice didn't skimp on the, well, spice... so it's fine by me!

I had the Chicken Tikka appetizer (basically Indian fajitas) with a side of brown rice. The tikka had nice flavor, the rice was perfectly cooked, and the cilantro chutney was the only cilantro chutney I've ever liked! The portions were generous too, so I was completely full with just the appetizer and rice.

I was visiting for the first time using a ridiculously thrifty Belly Bites deal, so I was a bit concerned that the staff would roll their eyes at me (we've all read the deal site horror story Yelp reviews). But I needn't have worried; the service was excellent! I also liked that they had TVs, it gives the solo luncher something to look at.

First let me say the food was great. I really enjoyed everything I ate. I had to give this place three stars because of the lack of knowledge nor willingness to help of my waitress.
I am gluten-free, not by choice, by disease. This place advertises a lot that their cooking is gluten free or that they have gluten-free items, its on their website and on signs hanging in the window. Some co-workers and I tried it out the other day and I was excited that this place knew about gluten and had options for us gluten free folk. I was surprised that nothing was labeled gluten free. Thats fine, I don't expect every restaurant to cater to my dietary needs, but when I asked the waitress what items would be safe to eat, she knew nothing. She pointed out items that had noodles, and when I asked if they were rice noodles, she said she didn't know but did not offer to check with the kitchen. When I expressed to her that I couldn't eat gluten or anything with wheat she just said, "well... most of the food we cook here is gluten free..." with no further concern.
So, I finally selected something I was confident was safe and when it arrived it had a huge piece of decorative bread wedged in it!!

I've only tried this place once and I don't want to write it off because of one unknowledgeable waitress... but her lack of willingness to help was a turn off. It wasn't even busy. The food was good enough that I will try it again and hope to encounter a different waiter.

It's healthy, fast, cheap, and casual. The combination makes Bombay Spice a big win in my book, considering the high priced and fancy restaurants that surround it. What can I say, I'm a sucker for anything that stands out and on it's own!

Now I'm Indian and I love traditional indian food, and this is not that, but I can appreciate the spin they're putting on it. Traditional indian fare is notorious for being ridiculously unhealthy, soaked in oil, etc. so it's nice to see a fresh approach! The food is good, whatever you get. I haven't had anything particularly bad here, though I usually stick to the "Create Your Entree". I also like the little chai they give you when you come sit down ... nice touch! And a little traditional chai can fix all sorts of ailments so it'll have you feeling good and primed for a solid meal that won't break the bank! Oh and make sure you use the chutneys, they make everything better, not that it particularly needs it.

This is also another great bang for your buck restaurant for the River North area. Nice and modern environment without making it romantic, so that's a nice differentiation.

Healthy indian food. Modern interior. You can walk out of this place and actually feel good about the decision you made. Wish they'd put away the TVs (river-north mainstay?). Don't expect a particularly diverse beer selection.

Modern-style cocktail bar Indian restaurant. Quite classy as you might expect from being so close to downtown and all the big hotels. Thus, a little pricey. My friend and I had a decent mail there. My vindaloo was really quite good after I asked for it to be more spicy (US hotness, not UK). A yelp deal got us a free starter too, which was excellent (chickpea ceviche). Service was very good/friendly. We went in at 8.30 on a SUnday night and it was not that busy. Rather a different way of ordering your curry too, as you pair up the choice of meat/veg with a list of the standard Indian sauces (masala, norma ...). Shouldn't be that intimidating to the non-curry crowd as the standard Indian menu basically just does the same but in a longer format. The Bombay Chiller cocktail was adequate. Overall, I recommend it.

Decor was surprisingly nice: cloth napkins, leather-bound menus. Sadly, food was super mediocre/disappointing. I ordered the Naan-wrap and was shocked to find that what this join calls "naan" is NOT the fluffy amazing flatbread that is served at every other Indian restaurant I've ever been to. Instead, it's a TORTILLA, maaaybe roti. Whatever it is, it's a non-naan (excuse the pun)!

More like Bombay Bland.  I ordered a veggie naan wrap and samosas to-go - both were so bland and flavorless.  I've had plain tofu with more taste.  Will definitely not come back here again.

I'm pretty happy with this place. Above avergae indian food (read non oily and overly full of spices) and pleasant, minimalist ambiance. Great for lunch and lunch dates.

Went here with J and W for lunch. We started with the bhel puri, which I was pleasantly surprised by. It had a nice mint edge to it that added freshness to the dish. The flavors were authentic as well and it was well mixed, with no dry spots.

After that we had the quinoa salad, which comes cold. Perfect for a hot summer's day. They also put chaat masala around the lip of the dish and I was pig enough to lick it all up. Yum yum.

We got the naan (SUPER not authentic at ALL, but served the purpose) and the chicken seekh kebab. This wasnt authentic either, had a gravy on it, and comes with onions and red peppers. That being said, it tasted GOOD. So, all's well that ends well.

Love. Happy, beautiful staff. Happy, beautiful food. Get the chef's sampler, you get to try a bit of everything. It's a lovely place to grab a healthy bite and a cocktail. Bombay Spice does not disappoint! Service was delightful and the food came out very quickly. Oh, and the bathrooms are beautiful.

Staff is blah, but they have good drinks, and yummy, almost home-cooked and healthy Indian food. The flavors are authentic, even the spices. I'd recommend the appetizers (bhel puri, dahi puri). I also like that I can dictate the sauce, meat/veggie, and spice level in a main dish. Their tandoori is blah. I like the atmosphere too.

The first time at most restaurants is always nothing more than a preview of quite possibly what the package has to offer. Quality of food. Attentiveness of service. Price for whole package. While passing through River North, I walked by Bombay Spice Grill & Wine, and figured that I would park it for a while and see what the menu had to offer for the palate.

Lentil soup. Samosas. Bombay Spice punch. Chickpea ceviche. Chicken tikka.

The lentil soup was definitely a great starter. Perhaps the next time I go, I shall request that no salt is added because the flavour seems a bit heavy with it. The samosas were good, as well, once I got past the baked aspect of them as opposed to them being fried. The Bombay Spice punch packed a punch, indeed. I know I could enjoy that after work on Fridays. Where things stood out the most was with the chickpea ceviche. There was a semblance of India meets Mexico and in a very good way. I could have had that dish only and in a quantity greater than the one dish that I had. The chicken tikka, while tasty and flavourful, was a bit more Americanized than my palate is accustomed to when it comes to Indian food.

Lots of seating in the restaurant, I was fortunate enough to have arrived early so that I could have a window seat to take advantage of natural lighting for the photography I planned to do for my food blog. The service was a bit reticent in the very beginning, a whole lot more welcoming towards the middle and in the end. I think that Bombay Spice is a nice introduction to anyone who wants to delve into Indian food without going full speed into Indian dining, who hasn't done so already. And the price isn't so bad either.

What a joke. This place is hands down the worse restaurant I've ever eaten at! They have this weird create your own entree thing, which is interesting as a concept, but unless you want to have some weird curry-like gump dumped over rice in a completely unappetizing way, DO NOT GO HERE.

We had the spinach with chicken. It was bland, I had to season it myself at the table with Salt and Pepper. The chicken was undercooked, and the spinach was at various levels of done-ness throughout the dish.

The lamb korma was a joke. The lamb was raw, and completely unspiced.

There was only 1 waiter for the WHOLE restaurant, and getting anything taken, orders, checks, was a nightmare. I'm never going here again, and neither should you.

Work provides catering services through a company called Fooda. This restaurant was providing the catering for lunch today, and I was very impressed. The staff was very helpful and friendly, and the food was fresh. When I reached the register, the employee informed me that I could get a Samoa in addition to what I already ordered for the same price. She didn't want me paying for something I didn't get. It was such a nice gesture and so sincere. I love that there are still good business people out there, and this restaurant gave me hope that there are more. I will be going back soon.

When one goes to an Indian restaurant, one typically is given a menu and a mute waiter. Then one orders blindly without any idea of what they'd want or being able to understand the menu...and then one wishes they got what the person at the next table ordered because it looks so much better.

That's the standard Indian restaurant experience at a lot of traditional. Bombay Spice looks to do things a little differently. Most importantly, they provide you with an actual full-blown dinner (what a concept!). They have rice bowls, dinner platters and different types of wraps. For that alone, they deserve at least three stars! You actually are getting a meal, versus most Indian restaurants that will gladly let you order butter chicken with no naan or rice to consume it with.

Bombay spice is not my favorite Indian spot in the city, and the bill will add up quickly if you want to try a few things...however if you haven't been to an Indian restaurant before or were super confused last time you went....GO HERE!

I came to this place for an early dinner once evening before there was really anyone else in the restaurant. Such a great experience! It's a fun spin on Indian cuisine making it not super authentic, but definitely unique and delicious. The highlight of the menu is the make-it-yourself feature where you can choose your base (basmati rice, brown rice, or quinoa which was very fun, I had never had quinoa with Indian before), your sauce, and finally a couple vegetables/proteins/meats. You know you're getting exactly what you're looking for.

The food seemed lighter than typical Indian food in a good way...it seems healthier and you don't get the stomach rumbles afterward. The restaurant itself just has a very cool ambiance--upscale/modern Indian style which feels just right, not forced. And the staff was very friendly, there when you wanted, but not "hovering" despite the lull in customers.

Also, they have a punch card (I'm a sucker for these)! After four of the make-it-yourself "bowls", you get the fifth free! Definitely an intensive to come back if the delicious food didn't have you already

I was more than pleasantly surprised by Bombay Spice my first time there earlier this week.  My girlfriend and I had a relatively small window of time to grab dinner in the river north, and we came across this place via Groupon Now.  I see that recent reviews voice some frustration regarding takeout, which I cannot vouch for.  I can, however, say that we had a tremendous experience dining in at Bombay Spice.

What's really cool about their menu is that you can construct it yourself.  Don't want basmati rice?  No problem... get your meal with brown rice or even quinoa.  Want something other than chicken in your Tikka Masala?  That's fine, you can put any meat or vegetable with any sauce.  I constructed a Mushroom and Tofu Masala served over Quinoa and it was amazing.  The beauty is everything is made to order so that you can get whatever you're craving.

The staff was very friendly and attentive.  Decor was classy but not over the top.  Overall I felt that the prices were high but justified given the quality of food and the location of the restaurant.  Again, I can't vouch for carry out... but I highly recommend Bombay Spice for dining out.

We ordered from Bombay Spice a couple of days ago for take-out. About 10 mins after placing the order, they called to tell us that they don't serve noodles anymore. I said fine, we'll have basmati rice. Whatev.

When I arrived, I was shocked to find that the bill was about $9 more than the take-out menu online said. I showed them the menu on my phone and they said "oh we updated our menu". I said "well these are the prices online on your take-out menu", and the manager ONLY offered me 10% off the bill. WHAT??

They've increased the price of each entree by about $4, and still wouldn't honor their online take-out menu that hadn't been updated. I said forget it, keep your food that is already made for us. Great business decision, Mr. Manager.

On top of this, as I exited, they STILL had the old menu/pricing on the outside of the freaking restaurant. I'm pretty sure it's required by law to give me the prices that are posted.
Just stinks because their food was decent.

What a surprise this place was. We wanted indian and yelp brought us here. It's so classy with an upscale feel to it. Very trendy inside the restaurant all the way to the bathrooms. Smaller more intimate inside, but has outdoor seating for a nice breezy evening too. The food wasn't spectacular, but it was up to par to all other indian restaurants. I think the only difference to this restaurant to all the other restaurants is that it's a classier/trendier look and feel.

    - Chicken Bowl
    - Naan
    - Grill Tikka Chicken
    - 2 Mango lassi's

    $35 total.

I like medium rare steaks, Sushi and etc, so I'm no stranger to rare food, but I'm completely baffled as to why Bombay Spice Grill sent me completely raw Lamb!

It was well seasoned, but you could tell that they did not cook it at all. The seasoning had that wet look that it only has when it's seasoned and uncooked! I decided to take a bite anyway, and when I bit into it nothing happened. The meat was so rare that it would not tear. Basically, I'd need a mouth full of canine teeth to actually eat that Lamb meat. I cooked it in my oven and it was fine. I didn't complain, but I will never order from them again. How do you miss cooking the food completely?

I am not sure what I was thinking to bite into it and give it a chance when I could see that it was just seasoned raw meat. Isn't it illegal to sell completely raw Lamb for consumption?

It was my first and LAST time ever eating there! I can cook my own lamb at home if I have to pay restaurant prices and still end up firing up my oven!

I'm Indian, so I get to be a harsher critic when it comes to Indian cuisine.  As someone who is tired of the same old heavy Punjabi Indian menus that you see over and over again in your typical Indian restaurant, it was nice to see a new healthier take on the same kind of cuisine.  I wouldn't call this food authentic Indian - it's more of a blend of traditional Indian cuisine with an Americanized take.

The atmosphere is casual but still trendy with pretty reasonable prices.  The menu is fairly limited as compared to your usual novel-sized menu at a traditional Indian restaurant.  But Bombay Spice keeps it simple: you pick your flavoring, you pick your meat or vegetable, and then you pick your carb supplement.

The service is a nice combination of modern and hipster with the same Indian hospitality and attentive service that we are used to.  We were instantly served little chai samples as well as other various dessert and daal samples throughout the night.

The chickpea ceviche is basically chaat with papad, but it's very light and tasty.  I think the ceviche name is a little misleading, but be sure to try it.

The biryani was good, but a little too nutty and too much cumin for my taste.  Then again, I'm not a huge biryani fan so I'm biased.

I've tried a few of the sauces, and the masala sauce is by far my favorite.  It's definitely more tomato than coconut and has a great flavor to it.  It goes very well with shrimp.  The curry sauce and vindaloo were both good, but missing something.  I am not a korma fan, and their korma sauce was even fruitier than usual.

The best part about Bombay Spice are the carb free options.  You can choose from regular rice as well as brown rice, quinoa, or noodles.  Combine this option with the fact that their food is not oily or greasy at all, and you've got a way to eat Indian food without feeling the need to workout nonstop afterwards.

The food is good enough for what it is, and the atmosphere and service make for a fun evening out.

You have to take Bombay Spice for what it is: a modern iteration on Indian food that lets the patron build his own custom dishes. It's not an authentic experience. But for what it is, it's really good. The food is spicy when you want it to be, there are lots of options on the protein, veggie and grain scales, and the vibe is pretty nice as well.

I'd say it's better suited as an intro to the potential of Indian food. Seasoned Indian cuisine experts may be slightly taken aback.

I must admit I was impressed with Bombay. Went right after work with a few people so it was fairly empty.

The food was plentiful and flavorful for it's cheap prices. I don't exactly know what I ordered. but whatever it was hit the spot. They have a lot of options, everyone I went with got different items and all were tasty. The great thing about the restaurant is that all of their items are healthy and have low calories. Waitress said they're all below 500 calories.

They are definitely heavy handed in their approach to get you to order drinks and dessert so beware of the puppy dog eyes of the waitress.

I am so confused why this restaurant has the great reviews it does. I have eaten Indian more than any other cuisine and this was by far the worst.
    1.) DRY
    2.) BLAND
    3.) NON-AUTHENTIC
    4.) HORRIBLE SERVICE
    5.) COMUNAL TABLES

I AM VEGAN AND ONE OF THE "SAFE" FOODS FOR ME IS HUMMUS AND THIS RESTAURANT SERVES ONLY DAIRY LADDEN HUMMUS. WTF?

I was so excited to come here, but left feeling beyond disappointed.

    MY SUGGESTION, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE

I just had dinner from Bombay Spice: they set-up a pop-up restaurant in my building's lobby, and were serving a combo: a samosa, chicken tikka masala, rice, and rice pudding, for $12. Great deal.

The food was okay, but uninspiring: they're attempting a slightly healthier take on Indian food (olive oil instead of ghee, etc.). That said, I'm of the opinion that just because a dish has meat in it, doesn't mean you have to exclude all vegetables, especially if you're going for a healthy spin. The chicken tikka masala was just lumps of chicken in lots of very liquid sauce. It could have also carried some sweet potato chunks or another vegetable. Flavor-wise, it was just okay. The chicken seemed a little dry.

The samosa was disappointing. The whole point of such appetizers, in my opinion, is the crunchy fried parcel. This appeared to be baked, and had no color to the dough (it was nearly white). The filling seemed to be 99% potato.

The rice pudding had a great flavor, and some spices (I think cardamom) and small pieces of pistachio, but texture-wise, was a little watery.

I'd definitely try eating in at the restaurant, as I don't think eating food from a mobile hot-plate, cooked several hours earlier and kept warm, is a fair assessment of their normal quality.

Went here on a late lunch break with a friend; we both love traditional Indian food (tip: the best outside of India is in Cincinnati, OH).  He's a vegetarian, I'm vegetarian-centric, which is not a thing that really exists, but it means I also enjoy fish.

Anywayyyy...I ordered the spinach sauce with brown rice and chickpeas as my veggie.   It tasted healthy, which is something I have never said about any Indian food ever.  It was delicious by many standards, but I know my lunchmate was disappointed because it definitely lacked that buttery, creamy goodness that we all know and love.

The price point was decent, I think mine was $10 and I did have enough for another lunch the next day.  The ambience was ok, kind of generically loop lunchtime hip/contemporary (do they all use the same uninspired decorators or what?), but certainly not uncomfortable.  The staff was very friendly and willing to explain anything, so speak up if you have any questions.

Almost forgot about the naan:  very good, love the tamarind sauce.  Over and out.

After an afternoon of drinking, my boss and I wanted to grab a bite to eat, even though we just ate at 3p.  So, he said he is pretty open all kinds of foods.  So, I mentioned Indian or Thai.  Either choices he was very happy with.  After returning to his hotel, to drop off our stuff, we asked the concierge where we could go.  One of the places mentioned was Bombay Spice.

Upon approaching this place, you can truly smell the curry.  Love that!!!

After entering the place, it is very modern.  Has that hip, trendy feel to it.

To make things simple, we sat at the bar to watch some basketball and food network.

We started off with hummus and spicy wings.  Awesome!!!!  Hummus had something in it that made it very unique (that is in a good way).  The wings had zing.  Your lips were left tingling after you were done but you were on fire.

For a main, we did the chef's special.  You can choose from two meats (I did Chicken and Lamb).  Then we get four different sauces.

It was very good.  I like trying different things so that If I ever go back when one to try again.  Samplers are awesome if you a very curious and want to try many options within that one seating.

    I will definitely go back!!!

Great staff, great location, great food, great price!!

It's a trendy, but yet, economical (given the area it's in), good fusion-indian restaurant.

It's more of a fusion place than a downtown indian place trying to be authentic.

We just had appetizers, but they were really yummy! The lentil cakes were really tasty. the only thing I would say is that it has too much sauce, though you can still taste the lentil :D

And we had one of the puris (from the cold appetizers). The sauce was really yummy! The tamarind mixing with the yorgurt...tangy but sweet!

The dessert is really good. we had the sampler...and I liked the carrot halwa the most. but they are all very good.

The wine list is inexpensive, but in retrospect, I could probably do without the wine

Absolutely loved this place - it's a far cry from the ghee-filled, oily and heavy Indian food you often find. I lived in India so I can appreciate some ghee, but it's a really nice and welcome change of pace to find a place with fresh, healthy, and delicious food.

The samosas are baked, not fried, and are absolutely delicious. I also tried the garlic naan, chicken lentil soup, quinoa salad, and a tofu vindaloo curry. Everything tasted excellent. I also loved the masala tea. All of the spices were really well-balanced and I left feeling full and satisfied but also not guilty! I will definitely be back.

I went to Bombay for lunch and was extremely pleased with my experience. Note this is NOT a place for the most authentic, greasy, Indian food. But if you like Indian food/flavors and want a lighter lunch this is the place to go!

Tasty food, great portions, super affordable!

Chicken Tikka - Huge appetizer portion. Chicken cooked really well, delicious mint sauce. Would be great as an entree with a side order of naan

Samosas - This i may pass on next time. Only because real samosas are only good fried :) These were baked to be healthy...but just not the same

Then we did the make your own.

Lamb Curry - Lamb very well cooked, great curry flavor!
Mixed Veggie Vindaloo - Strong spice but not too overwhelming

For someone who loves Indian food but likes to eat healthy this was a perfect spot. The server told us at the end each dish was under 500 calories!! I'm still not certain I believe that but if that is the case it is AMAZING. I'll definitely be back.

Bombay Spice has made my River North sit-down lunch rotation. Not only is it close to the office, but the owners have clearly taken pains to make sure midday eaters can be in and out within about 40 minutes.

The menu is set up so that you can customize your meal by choosing your base (rice, quinoa, or noodles), protein, and sauce. The DIY aesthetic threw me off at first, since it seemed to detract from the upscale atmosphere and make the place seem more like Curried or Roti, but I actually found it helpful in getting exactly what I wanted. There are other main course options, like briyani and naan-wiches, which I would love to try sometime. My table started with samosas, which were standard (aka deliciously potato-filled and crispy). The meat eaters among my group also ordered the tandoori wings and absolutely destroyed them.

A word of warning: Those looking for your usual oil-and-cheese superfatty Indian offering will be let down, since Bombay Spice cuts out the bad stuff and keeps things pretty healthy. I really like this. I mean, who can go back to work after pigging out on paneer mahkani? Food coma city. It's also not the most authentic, according to my Indiaphile best gal pal. More like India-lite, for the pretty stick figures who inhabit River North. But, hey, who doesn't want to be one of them??

I had the veggie curry (medium spicy) with quinoa and found it to be filling and tasty, though not as satisfying as places that use cream and butter. I would try a different sauce next time or up the spice factor, since it was a teeny bit bland. But again, I felt good after eating it and it kept me feeling full for the rest of the afternoon.

Our server was a bit flustered and mixed a few things up. It also took a while to run our cards after the meal, but that's just how it goes when you pay separately, five ways.

The cost was about $15 which is a bit pricey for what I got. But overall I enjoyed Bombay Spice and would definitely come back.

To me, this place is like the P F Changs or Ben Pao for Chinese food....aka I feel like this is fake Indian food.  Although I am not India so I am not an official source, but hey I am a foodie who loves Indian food so I feel like I can call out a fake when I see it.

We ordered the Raita dip to start..and the only reason we did was because we saw it came with Naan.  Now I love Naan...it's like a fluffy pillow of warm bread.  So as you can imagine I was looking forward to this.....and they gave us toasted pita bread.  Since when did pita bread = naan.  Like I know I am not Indian but I know the difference between the two and when I ask for Naan I expect real Naan!  Raita dip was good...but I would be shocked if they could mess it up.

We ordered the chicken biryani and curry vegetables (from make your own menu) We got our Biryani first, it was definitely different from the biryani I am used to, it wasn't made with basmati rice so the rice was a little more saucy than I am used, and it had tomatoes and raisin in it which I have never seen, but I did like the taste.

We had not yet gotten our curry vegetables yet so we waited and waited and waited....pretty much 20 minutes came by before we got our second entree.  There was no apology from our waiter in our food taking a long time.  And when we first walked into this restaurant, we were one of two tables.   They had four people in the kitchen so I have no idea what is going on back there.   We had ordered curry vegetables with brown rice for our second entree and they gave us the wrong rice.  When we told our waiter they gave us the wrong rice he offered to have the kitchen make a new one for us but I think he saw our faces in the prospect of having to wait again for the new dish, he told us I will make sure it comes out quicker this time?  OH WAIT so you totally admit that we waited a L O N G time for our food now?

I would say that the restaurant is pretty sleek and it is a very nice decor, but whenever I want Indian food, this would NOT be the place I go to.  However if I want fake Indian food in a really nice setting, I would come here.

Amazing food, great service, and it's right around the corner from the office.

I came here for dinner last week with a friend and our server, Jay, was quite possibly one of the friendliest servers ever. He walked us through the menu, explaining how the idea behind the place was "healthier indian". Using spices rather than creams and oil to bring out the flavor of the food. They also have quite a few wines that are line priced at $7 per glass and $25 per bottle, I believe.

We ordered 3 appetizers and then didn't have room for an entree, so we carried out to share with our book club. I liked the addition of quinoa to rice and brown rice options, and we got to try all the sauces thanks to Jay's quick thinking and subbing in the sauces with the papadum appetizer. My favorites were the korma and spinach, but my friend liked the masala best. All were tasty.

    Food breakdown:

Baked samosas: yummy and it was nice to eat them without the extreme guilt that comes with a giant, fried ball of dough.

Chickpea ceviche: refreshing, healthy and generally awesome. It's also quite filling, so you could do this as a light entree. I see myself ordering it many more times come summer.

Papadum appetizer with entree sauces: another great appetizer that let us really get a taste of all the flavors Bombay had to offer. Again, the spinach and korma sauces were my fave.

Potato and Zucchini masala over quinoa - Very tasty, but we got this as a carryout option, and while it was tasty and great for us, I think it was a tad small for the price considering how reasonable everything else is on the menu.

Message is, I will be back for more nicely spiced, healthy food!

I'm Pakistani and all though not Indian, we use the same ingredients and spices so I am reviewing this place and being a bit "picky".

Nothing here is worth it's price if you know how to cook. If you love Indian food, you won't love this place, because the management added a bit more "Western" style into the ambiance and food.

I've gotten the Samosa's here, which is the best thing to get at it's worth price. Got the ones with potatoes and they will taste good. I'd rather get wings from Buffalo Wild Wings or a local bar, but people like the Tandoori ones there. Also, the carrot halwa is expensive but worth it if you have a sweet tooth.

Staff is nice, a little educated about the food and the longer they work at the new place, they will get better. A good stop! Family kinda crowd too.

If you love Indian food, run away - this ain't it.  If you think Applebee's is a nice dinner, then step right up.  Honestly some of the worst service I've ever had and the food was bland and poorly prepared.

A group of 6 friends decided to meet up after work here on a Tuesday night because we all had a discount from our graduate school, which was next door.  Here's the rundown of 10 reasons why this was a biiiiiig mistake :

    1. The place was empty, but they made 5 people wait at the bar because I was still on my way.

    2.  My friends asked to split a bottle of wine and the bartender split a GLASS for them!

    3.  When we were finally allowed a table and asked to transfer our bottle fee to the table check, the server answered "Sure, but you'll have to pay the tab first."  Guh?? So we did.

    4. The entree menu is odd, as you don't order traditional dishes, but rather select a meat and a sauce a-la-Noodles & Company

    5. I ordered the Chicken Vindaloo.  The waitress told me it includes potatoes.  I don't care for them, so asked if I could swap out for eggplant, which was another veggie option on the menu.  She seemed confused, but actually managed to get that part right when my food arrived.  I had to ask for straight up chili sauce though, because the VINDALOO (i.e. muy caliente!) tasted liked Hunts tomato paste.

    6.  My friends' Naan-wiches were, in fact, tortilla wraps which equaled the appearance and quality of the 7-11 "deli"

    7.  Our check came and 2 of 3 "entrees" had an extra charge added for eggplant.  Go figure.  So I asked our server who at least was very sweet, if we were accidentally charged for my aforementioned eggplant which was explained to be of no extra charge.  Big mistake.

    8.  It ends up only the vindaloo includes a vegetable and a meat.  My friends' dishes with different sauces didn't... even though the menu said that the entree itself includes a vegetable.  It's much more complicated than it needed to be.

    9.  The manager ended up getting involved and instead of waving the measly $2 added for eggplant in 2 dishes, he proceeded to argue with us about our polite feedback that the menu was confusing.  Then, oddly enough, he said he recognized us and wanted us to "continue coming" and said he'd "take care of the check."  None of us had been there before...

    10.  Ten minutes later, the poor waitress came back, almost in tears, explaining her manager wouldn't reverse the charge.  She offered to give up her service fee ( which was 18% and not mentioned on the menu) because she felt badly about the mixup .  Apparently her manager refused that too.  We paid the check and vowed to share our tale with the world.

How do you give no stars?

The place looks like an Indian version of McDonalds from the outside, but my co-workers and i decided to go anyway.

I'll keep this short. Because i have to make up for the time wasted on this meal and get back to work.

I ended up paying 17 dollars for a bland, crappy lamb burrito (called a naan-which, there is no naan involved, but a flour torilla) and an iced tea.

I had some lemonade mixed in with the iced tea, which made the drinks non-refillable. They neglected to tell me that the drinks weren't bottomless, all the while pushing refills on us the whole time.

The waiter tried to comp one of the drinks for us, but apparently the manager values the three dollars more than customer satisfaction.

As a result, they've lost the business of five or more patrons who would have ventured there for weekly luncheons.

I wish i would have just gone to McDonalds for a juicy double.
