Beautiful surroundings with awesome river views. A nice, enormous fireplace and lots of antlers.

But the food was, well, boring. My companions ribs were, well, boring. My steak was slightly over-cooked and mostly flavorless. This is straight, middle-of-the-road food served in a nice location. For me, I went to Rocky's By The River the next night and had fantastic food and a great experience. But this our first night in Clarksville and the Buckhead was the first place we came to.

The Buckhead is the place for the company lunch or the dinner with Grandma. No one will be offended the amazing food won't distract you, because they don't have any amazing food. It's serviceable which, in this case, isn't a compliment.

This place had gone downhill. The atmosphere is the best part. Sitting next to the Ohio River, you have a great view of downtown Louisville. The food is just okay and a little too expensive to be just okay. If you want to take your kids for some chicken fingers or a burger you might give this place a try, but there are too many other delicious places near by to waste your money on something so dull.

Such promise.  Great impressive entrance hall.  Comfy, overstuffed leather chairs in which to await our table.  Fun, sassy server (named Amy).  But the food.  This is, afterall, a restaurant review and the stars need to reflect heavily on the food.  And it was not good.

The strawberry-banana smoothie didn't taste like it had any naturally-grown actual strawberries or bananas in it.  Two sips was all it took to relegate the glass to the far corner of our table.  As it sat there with the liquid mixture separating gradually, the server never mentioned it.  Never asked if I didn't enjoy it.  Nothing.  It was like the odd uncle everyone pretends isn't there.

The potato skin appetizers were overcooked and definitely over-hyped.  No wonder they were on sale.  You couldn't have made me eat another one if it was free, though.

The pork chops, which sounded so tantalizing on the menu, were dry pork pucks.  The baked apple side was swimming in gelatinous apple filling substance.  The mac'n'cheese side seemed embarrassed to be in the company of these inferior dishes.

Someone needs to take the chef and maybe the whole kitchen staff on a trip to culinary school.  And while they're out, replace them with a real team so that customers can appreciate food whose taste matches the awesome setting and view of the Louisville skyline across the river.

The restaurant seemed ok when my mother and I first walked in. It was our first visit and definitely our last. My mother made her order and when I made my order, the girl seemed irritable and was rude. It was a simple order of four sides with a basket of rolls added and the girl was nasty about the order as if I was the one that did not get my order right. She asked me if I "wanted two" and when I asked for clarification as to what she meant, the girl unnecessarily explained that there were two COMPLIMENTARY rolls that went with the order and went on to spit the order that I had just given her right back to me as if I didn't know what I was ordering. I told her that that was what I wanted, but did not want to seem rude because I already didn't trust what would have been done to my food because of her unprofessionalism.
After the order was made, I went on to look at the menu thinking that the waitress was just tired from that busy Sunday evening.  It didn't make sense to me that she'd made the order more difficult than it had to be because she didn't understand that the two complimentary rolls *that automatically went with the order* were not the same as a basket of rolls being ADDED to the order. I figured she was new and thought that the two rolls were an extra basket that went with the order, but she still should have been a little more professional in her approach rather than act as if her customers didn't know what they wanted upon ordering their food. As a matter of fact, since I'd not asked for what went with the order and I'd not made any complaint dealing with the order I felt the whole explaination was completely unnecessary (as aforementioned) and a waste of time combined with pointless hostility.
We were given a time of ten minutes before our order was ready, but we wound up waiting almost 30 for the order. Again, that was chalked up to how busy that Sunday evening was, so we didn't think much of that.
The rest of the staff seemed pretty good and checked on us to make sure we were taken care of during our wait, so the whole experience wasn't all bad. The manager for that evening was very professional and helpful to us *as well as to others* and she'd even thanked my mother and I for the visit and told us to have a good day. Although I did not realize she was talking to us because I was trying to hurry and leave the busy restaurant, it was nice to be acknowledged and thanked for our business. Had the manager been able to be in more than one place I'm sure that employee would not have been as unprofessional as she had been that evening. I believe she did a fabulous job at managing the restaurant and it's a shame that employees like that can ruin a descent experience at such a nice and well-run restaurant.

A brief on the food: Meh...
The food wasn't as good as expected. My mother was a little disappointed that her rolls were a little burnt, but they still tasted ok. She claimed the creamed spinach tasted like it was missing something that the Buckheads Mountain Grill we normally eat at puts into its creamed spinach; mine was ok, but it was not as smooth as the creamed spinach we order at the other Buckheads Mountain Grill. Some of the rolls (from my order) were burnt, but the others were well-made and tasted fine.

We went to Buckhead for lunch for my friend's birthday. I've not been to the one on Bardstown Road but this location is worth the drive just for the lovely view of Louisville across the Ohio river. Needless to say, we asked to be seated by a window. We ordered the following dishes:

    1. Summit Sampler - You get to pick 3 appetizers so we got the fried green tomatoes, potato skins and chicken wings. (3 out of 5. Good but nothing special.)
    2. Wyoming-style Pot Pie - Tender chunks of Chicken and Vegetables in a homemade sauce topped with a Flaky Crust. (5 out of 5. Excellent pot pie)
    3. Manhattan Roast Beef - Texas Toast topped with tender slices of slowly cooked Roast Beef and smothered in a rich Brown Gravy. (4 out of 5)
    4. Chicken Penne Pasta - (2 out of 5. Disappointing. Not much flavor)
    5. Bourbon Butter Ribeye - Juicy Ribeye Steak topped with fresh mouth-watering Bourbon Butter. (4 out of 5)
    6. Cheesecake (3 out of 5)
    7. B'day Sundae (3 out of 5)

We enjoyed our dining experience and most of the dishes we ordered, and the service was superb!! What is impressive about this place (besides the location and food) is the sheer number and variety of items on the menu to suit most palates.

    Friendly service. Okay food.

Nothing to complain about really. It was a busy night and the server was attentive and helpful. Nice selection of beer.

My family was so fortunate to have discovered Buckhead Mountain grill in Jefferson, In. While visiting the Louisville area.  First and foremost I wish to give the Chef my utmost compliments.  We all had different entrees and we all enjoyed them immensely.  The presentation of each dish was very creative as well as delicious.  The view and the waiters are all added bonuses.

Location, location, location! This large handsome restaurant has serves up good food and service, but the view across the Ohio river of Louisville's gorgeous downtown skyline is priceless!

Not really anything to complain about... and not really anything to compliment. Nothing was great, and a few things were bad (lima beans, chicken tenders). The cinnamon bread was good. Overall this place has nothing going for it other than the view, which is about as good of a view as you can get in the Louisville area. The service was nice and friendly, can't complain there - if only they were serving something worth paying money for.

it's disappointing when you say, 'hey, I'll go ahead and have a steak, it's been months!' but the steak is sub par. great beer selection, service, and the fried green tomatoes saved the day but the parking situation needs attention.

Was traveling in the area and found this place from the Yelp reviews.  Wow I was pleasantly surprised with this place.  The bread and cinnamon apple butter was really tasty and the starter salad was also very good.  I ordered the ribs which were good, but a little colder than I would of liked.

Overall the food was pretty good and very reasonable.  I would agree with the other yelpers that it's like a fancier version of Chilli's but with a great view and much better food.

    Lets start with the good:
    View
    Service
    Food
    Rolls
    Location

    And the bad:
    My stomach isn't very large
I want a BHMG in Saint Louis.

Hmm I guess that says it all.

Well maybe not, so I have never eaten here before but after searching Yelp for a good place to eat while on Vaca we stumbled on this place across the river from Louisville.

It is in a great area and was easy to find.

It was an awesome day so we sat on the patio with a few others. The tables were nicely shaded and our waiter was awesome.

We got the boneless wings in teriyaki sauce, they were fabulous.
I ordered the Original patty melt and my wife got the bacon double Burger. Both of us got the chips.

My patty melt was great, and I wish I had room for two cause I would have eaten them both.

My wife loved her burger and ate the whole thing also.

I think we took the left over chips back to the hotel and ate them later for a snack.

I was really impressed with the food and service at this place.

My husband and I had a great meal here. Beautiful location, ate on the deck at sunset looking over the river.

Food was delish. Fried green tomatoes were amazing. I had the grilled whitefish, fabulous. My husband had a steak which he enjoyed but wasn't life-changing.

Our waiter was hilarious, basically think Andy from Parks and Rec. We had to wait for a table even though tables were empty, I guess they had 2 wedding receptions at the same time and they were trying to let the kitchen catch up.

    A highlight of our trip.

One Chicagoan and two New Yorkers arrived after a long business trip. We are still raving about the "out of this world" Fried Green Tomatoes! Super delicious, you must get them - the very best! We had the beer flights, very cool idea, and a perfect way to taste 5 beers for only $4.99. A most lovely setting on the river, casual and fun on the deck. Good selection for dinner. Very pretty at night to see Louisville across the river. Wish I lived closer. Loved it!

This is the third good restaurant I experienced during my recent work trip to the Jeffersonville, IN area.  This restaurant isn't anything over the top or "special" - they serve good food and have good service.  I would classify them as a higher-end version of Applebee's or Chili's.

The best part of the meal was the bread.  It was soft, fresh, and beyond tasty.  It was accompanied with a cinnamon apple butter that made the bread irresistible.  Our bread was replenished multiple times by our waiter and I wish I had stolen more of it and the butter to take back to my hotel room for later.

My entree was a sirloin steak (cooked with the amazing cinnamon apple butter) with a side salad and green beans.  I asked for my sirloin to be cooked medium and it came out perfectly - it was a good piece of meat.  Side salad with fat-free ranch dressing was served cold with the dressing on the side - I was very impressed with the salad.  The green beans were green beans - enough said.  I highly recommend this sirloin steak entree due to the cinnamon apple butter coating (your palate will be satisfied).

The service was good and the price was right.  Our food was served to us in a timely manner, drinks were refilled promptly, and there were no check issues (4 of us, 4 separated checks by request).  I couldn't ask for anything more.

I gave this restaurant 5-stars because it does everything it is suppose to do without any glaring issues.  It's not high-end, but it did everything I expected without costing me an arm and a leg.  Frequent this establishment if you want a pleasant dinner out with friends and/or family that does not disappoint with it's standard American fare and causal ambiance.

Buckhead Mountain Gill has a Passport beer tour where you can try different beers. If you complete a tour you will receive gift or tribute. I am working on the Draft Tour. The gift is a hooded sweatshirt. Last week I tried a local brew. This was the Kentucky Ale. My first though was why the glass is so small. After tasting the beer I realized why. Kentucky Ale is aged in bourbon barrels. I really liked this beer. The Buckhead Mountain Gill is very cool!! They have large monitors scattered around the bar which was showing the hockey. The food seems to be very good. I tried the wrap and it was very good. However with more than 80 beers on the menu I will be back. Buckhead Mountain Gill also has excellent views of downtown Louisville.

The only reason this review gets a 3.5 star is purely for the view. Seriously, the food - it's alright. But the scenic riverfront view looking back at the downtown Louisville - that's pretty awesome.  Esp if you get a booth seat like we did or out in the deck.

The scene reminds me of a combination of family restaurant mixed with sports bar. There are flat screen TVs in all corners of the restaurant - any games you can be thinking of, you can be sure to find it on one of these TVs. At one point, I actually switch seats w/ my BF just so I won't be distracted by the game. Friendly hostess sat us right away and we were greeted by our waitress. Typical southern menu with many fried items - I opt for the Chicken Fried Chicken and the BF got Mushroom Jack Chicken. After we order, we got our fresh-baked bread - which was quite delish. Warm and soft, perfect start to my meal.

Each entree comes with 2 sides to choose from - my Chicken Fried Chicken was heavily coated in batter for my taste - but it was juicy and tender esp with the pepper gravy. I chose green beans and mac & cheese - both were non-memorable. The BF's Mushroom Jack Chicken was to his liking - tons of sautéed portabella &button mushrooms top w/ melted Monterey Jack cheese. He enjoyed his green beans and baked apples.

We ended the night with their peach cobbler w/ vanilla ice cream - this was the epic fail moment. I've never had such a disappointing cobbler...it was overly sweet and the peaches tasted like they were from a can. So sad...I almost wanted to ask for a refund for this.  If it weren't for this dessert - I would have given it a 4star.

So to sum: go for the view, mediocre food and absolutely DO NOT get their desserts. :P  Save your money and go to Graeter's Ice Cream instead...if you want some REAL dessert.  That's all folks!

3 stars for the view and the draft beer selection. Dogfish Head, Rogue, lots of local stuff like BBC and NABC, and the typical stuff like Bud Light.
Service was slow and rude. When I asked for a drink menu the waitress snapped, "You need to get out your ID now cause you look about 15!" Yeah I look young for my age but I hadn't even ordered the beer yet! Food tasted ok but definitely not worth the price. All the restaurants in that area probably stay in business(and jack up the prices) because of the nearby hotels.

    GO FOR THE VIEW!!!

Was passing through town on a roadtrip and came across this place.. What a gem! We chose this place for the view - hands down beautiful! You are literally seated right on the river bank overlooking the bridges.

It was probably around 95 degrees at lunchtime when we stopped. There was nobody sitting outside on the deck, but we really wanted to. Nobody gave us dirty looks or rolled their eyes or anything at our request to be seated outside (which I half expected).

We got a friendly waiter who was very attentive, even though by our sitting outside we were forcing him to work in the heat. He was friendly (not fake), attentive, and gave good suggestions when we asked. He kept our water glasses full to keep us cool in the heat.

My son and I split the chicken fingers - which were probably the best chicken fingers I've ever had! They were delicious. They gave us a suped-up baked potato which was seasoned to perfection. And we had the baked apples - all I can say is - OMG!! Yummmm yumm yum!

Oh yes, and how could I forget the rolls?! They give you these amazing warm rolls when you are seated, with this cinnamon butter and it is to die for!

Prices were reasonable for what you get.

Overall - I LOVED this place and if it wasn't so far away I'd be here all the time. Definitley a must go!

Buckhead Mtn Grill was a great Yelp suggestion. After a long business day I wanted to have a casual dinner, couple of cold beers and chill out watching sports and let's see Buckhead has:
    TVs everywhere, all on sports
A ginormous beer selection, draft and bottle
    Attentive Service
    Great food
I sat at the bar and ordered a Steak and Blue salad and it was fine... Good portion steak cooked medium as ordered. Bartenders were pretty busy but very helpful regarding menu questions and beer selection. Fellow diners surrounding me had no issues and their food looked pretty darn appetizing as well.  Their menu is pretty broad everything from fried tomatoes, steak, chicken, and fish.... The beer selection is amazing and I will definitely take a pint tour next time I'm in town.....
If you are in the area or staying at one of the hotels by the river I would definitely recommend the Buckhead Mtn Grill.

How has no one mentioned the fried green tomatoes?  Traditionalists might scoff at the panko breadcrumbs, but they are a remarkable improvement over your basic cornmeal.  I've been known to drive to Southern Indiana just for the tomatoes.

Admittedly, most of the menu is 3-star caliber fare.  Not that it isn't good, it just isn't anything particularly special.

But seriously, try the fried green tomatoes.  They are 5-star worthy.  As is the view and the beer list. So we'll average that out to 4 stars.

Half-price appetizers and cheap beers combined with a snowy vista of the Ohio River and the Louisville skyline makes for a very "Happy Hour".I only wish I had my camera. My friend Bridget and her BF Donny were excellent compliments to my huge tater skins and Coors Light. I only wish I had a West Coast Korean to go with them.Gotta make do with what ya got.Good time and got invited back.

The view is definitely what sells this place.  And the cinnamon butter served with the hot rolls, which are themselves fantastic.  I've eaten here many time and cannot say that I was really ever impressed with the food.  We ordered chips and queso for an appetizer, and the queso was very thin and not really great.  My stepfather made a complaint about it, and it was nice that they gave us the order for free.  My buffalo chicken salad was not bad, but I didn't really care for the non-nutricious lettuce and load of cheese.

This is one of those places where it tends to be someone else's choice, not usually my own.  That view though is why I really go back time and time again.

I LOVED this place.  The food was awesome, the view is amazing and the service is great!

I had the bourbon butter steak and some sort of micro-brewed beer and I was beyond full.  The rolls rock my socks off!

I wish I could eat here at least one or twice a week.

This is a very nice place...obviously by the name it is a meat and potatoes type restaurant not seafood...for gods sake this is Kentucky not Boston.
The chicken pot pie and outside bar are to die for at this place...and if anyone desires to attend the 'Thunder over Louisville' (kickoff for the Kentucky derby) this is the best place to view the second largest fireworks display in the USA. The airshow is also quite good.

Within a short walk there are two other restaurants Italian and a seafood place that are equally nice, if anyone reading this can tell me the names please reply. (and I don't mean Hooters guys) although they have a nice one right by.

The view is really the only reason to come here.

I should know better than to order seafood inland.  My pasta with salmon was edible, but nothing to rave about.

Nice view, average service, average food.  The menu is typical Bennigan's/Applebee's fare.  It's a good place if you want to sit at the bar with a beer and some nachos, but just average for an actual meal.  Good butter rolls, though!
