I ordered the Taleggio and it was divine! I ended up ordering the other two popular sandwiches on the menu but they weren't as delicious. Can't wait to come back and order it again!

Completely obsessed with this place. The variety blows my mind. Glad I do not live very close otherwise I know I would be in there twice daily and would end up with health problems!

It really doesn't get any better than this place. I discovered a wine here called Hart's Desire that has become a favorite of mine.  I've since visited the winery in CA and get a variety of wines shipped to my house.  I never would have found this wine without Cheesetique.  The variety of cheeses and selection of items to pair them with is amazing.  The restaurant offers great food items, wine flights and you get yummy dark chocolate chips delivered with your bill.  This place rocks!

Went here for drinks and a late dinner and was pretty disappointed by the food here.

    I Ordered:
-a brie-esque cheese which was good, but for $10 they give you only a tiny little piece
-mushroom meltdown grilled cheese -this was terrible.  horrible combination of flavors and sandwich was soggy
-mac n cheese.  The cheese to macaroni ratio was WAY off.  Too much cheese, not enough flavor.

    Definitely a cheese lovers paradise.

Our first experience with burrata cheese and it was fantastic, the wife had to buy several containers to bring back home.

We dined in and ordered the Italian burrata app which was the highlight.
The wife just had a house salad and I went with the lobster mac which was not the greatest.

4 stars just for the vast selection of cheeses and nice selection of wines to pair.

As far as I can remember, I've always loved cheese. I love this place they have really good quality cheese and wine. All of there dishes feature a different cheese. The staff are extremely helpful.  The only issue with this location is parking, usually you'll have to park in the garage and walk back up to the building.  This would be a good casual restaurant for a date.

If you are looking for a cheeze shop with a huge selection then this is the place.  I was not however impressed with the resturant.  I got the grown up grilled cheeze and did not enjoy.  These cheezes they choose for this sandwich did not go to together well and were a bit over powering.  I was sooo disappointed

The food was delicious.  The portions were quite small, but the flavor of the cheeses was pretty powerful.  I really liked this and it had a good happy hour option.  I had one of the mac 'n cheeses with the bacon bits.  It looks to me as a good date place!

Wine and cheese; it's a winning combination! It's about time someone created a restaurant which brings these two arts together in perfect harmony. It's also a great first date place. The complimentary dark chocolate bits they provide with the bill are a sweet touch!

I love cheese! If you do as well, this is your place! I love the concept of this shop, pretty casual atmosphere and the staff was very nice and welcoming.  We decided to try the lunch here.  The Mac and Cheesetique was perfect.  Nice flavor, the right amount of fresh cheese, and topped with seasoned bread crumbs.  Only slight complaint is that I wish it was a bit bigger in portion.  Also tried the grilled cheese and onion sandwich with a side of tomato soup.  Spot on.  Couldn't have asked for it to be better.  The waiters recommendations were pretty good.  I really wanted to try more food but decided to save it for the next trip.  On my to eat list includes: the cheesesteak, french onion soup, a cheese board, and the pear flatbread appetizers.  Overall, awesome experience and I will definitely be back!

DIED and went to cheese heaven thanks to this delightful restaurant! The only hiccup was parking -- we parked in the back where the sign said it was for customers of their address, but I got a note on my car afterwards saying it was private property for employees only of a nearby company. That was definitely confusing, but at least I wasn't ticketed....:

As for the meal -- I went with my coworkers (we were all first timers) and we ordered their Pear and Gorgonzola flatbread appetizer to share. When it arrived at the table, it was fresh out of the oven with the ooeyest gooyiest (I'm sure I butched that spelling, but you catch my drift?) melted cheese on top of fresh warm pears, toasted walnuts, aged balsamic vinegar and some carmelized onions (i think -- we were all having our Homer-Simpson-eating-a-donut moment -- so I am not 100% sure if that was on there). Either way, it was SO good and I don't even like gorgonzola!

As for the entrees, I ordered their Apple and Brief Grilled Cheese that came with the most perfectly buttered brown crusty (yet sturdy - this is key when dealing with melty cheese) bread holding together super melted brie, warm apple and a slice of proscuitto. To be honest, when I ate it, I couldn't really taste the proscuitto since it wasn't in abundance but I didn't care. It was that good. I would highly recommend ordering this sandwich which also comes with a side of the Deep River Rosmary Kettle Chips.

Enjoy and savor every bite :). I can't wait to bring my husband there to try out their French Onion Soup.

This review is for Cheesetique as a cheese shop; I did not dine there.  If you've ever been to Neal's Dairy Yard in London, this is probably the closest you're going to get in this area.  The staff are extremely well-versed in everything cheese-related and the variety is wide enough that you won't feel like you're missing anything.  Even if they don't have what you want, they'll point you in the right direction for something similar.

Parking is iffy, as it is in most of Del Ray, but worth it when you find it.

This remains one of my fave places as a cheese lover- there's also one in Shirlington but I like the customer service at this location a bit better. The seasonal crostinis are always a hit and definitely go for the wine tastings they have all summer. You'll stay for more! Great, intimate but casual first date place. Vegetarian dream. I'm a meat lover but it's nice to know where to take veggie friends when they visit. You can also sit outside and tie your dog next to you on the railings. Dog-friendly!

    Would absolutely recommend.

Cool place to hang out...several very friendly servers. Had an amazing grown up grilled cheese with bacon and tomato and a cup of tomato soup last visit. Compliments to the sandwich chef, Tom. Best grilled cheese I had eaten in a restaurant :)

Pear, gorzonola, and walnut flatbreak. Yes, please. All the food here is so delicious. Obviously they have a ton of wonderful cheeses, so a must is the sample cheese board. Usually 5 cheeses is enough to get a flavor for what you like. From the grilled cheeses, I recommend the brie and apple sandwich - so delicious with a salty and sweet taste. From the mac-n-cheese section, the lobster mac is amazing! If they happen to have it, the pumpkin apple soup is also wonderful, but I'm pretty sure that's a seasonal item.

Cheesetique is a great brunch location.  Their menu isn't huge, but they offer a nice variety and some unique items.  For example....have you ever been undecided whether to get mac-n-cheese or hog dogs?  If so, Cheesetique's "Hot Diggity Dog Duo" is for you!  Order it and you'll soon be dining on two high-quality hot dogs -- one topped with truffle mac-n-cheese and the other topped with blu-cheese.  And of course you can always go for a cheese board! With the cheese you can either make your own selections, or ask for them to decide.  If you pick yourself, you can go pretty conservative or pretty wild

Service is decent to very good. The atmosphere depends on where you sit -- a bright and open bar, a few bistro-style table near the bar, or the more secluded and dim back room.

With much anticipation, my girlfriends and I met for dinner at this restaurant on March 19.  I arrived late, however my girlfriends were kind enough to have some cheese and wine waiting for me.  I had asked for something "stinky", such as epoisses, instead - the waitress recommended something mild and soft.  By the time I arrived, my girlfriends had already ordered.  I waited for the waitress to bring me a menu, asking twice, so I too could order an entree.  All of my girlfriends had their entrees by the time I was finally able to order, since our waitress was nowhere to be found.  Once my order was taken, and my finished appetizer cheese selection was taken away, I attempted three times to catch our waitress' eye to order a second glass of wine.  She never acknowledged me, nor did she come to check on our table after all of our food was finally delivered.  So, no second glass for me.

The one shining grace was the water re-filler, she was wonderful.  Once our meal was completed, and our plates cleared - the water re-filler asked us if we wanted dessert; kindly bringing us one menu for the 5 of us.  However, no one ever came to our table to see if we wanted any dessert.  In fact, our waitress never returned (we couldn't find her).

After nearly a half an hour of waiting for our waitress to return, (and many expertly re-filled water glasses later) still we waited, hoping we could order dessert - we finally gave up.  We asked the water filler-upper to bring us our check.  She kindly did, and another waitress brought us our bill.  If it were up to me, I would have left 5%, given that our waitress abandoned us.  My friends were much kinder and left 15%.

I truly do love that of the cheese.  I was so very much looking forward to enjoying a cheese feast.  After my experience, with such horrid service at this restaurant- I am, sadly, never planning to return.

Cheese-store meets hip bar bistro.  Classic cheese shop with many cheese options at a price.  The restaurant is a fun change of pace.  Gourmet mac-n-cheese and fancy grilled cheese are the headliners, with upscale hot dogs and salads to fill out the menu.

Menu is not broad enough to please everyone all-the-time. If you want something cheesy with salad and a glass of wine, you cannot do better.  Prices are fair, but not a great deal.   Restaurant seating in the back is cozy and quiet;  seating out front on sidewalk is a complete joy on a beautiful afternoon or warm evening, although limited.

Great one stop for dining on good food and wine plus purchasing additional items to take with you. I love the large selection and the people are friendly. Great place for a small group outing. I only wish it had outdoor patio dining.

So yummy when it comes to all things cheese! They've got a wonderful cheese shop in the front along with other specialty goods (like chocolate!) and a cozy restaurant in the back.

Their french onion soup is delicious -- not too salty and topped with gooey Gruyere. I tried two grilled cheeses: the Brie, Apple and Prosciutto and the Taleggio and Onion Confit. Both are a must try! The potato salad is not your typical, run of the mill salad. Instead of going heavy on the mayo, they choose to let the flavors of their herbs and seasonings shine through. It was fantastic, and I usually don't care for potato salad! I need to return there to try everything else on their menu, especially the macs!

I was put in charge of finding a spot to get my girly gossip on and after perusing through food pictures on Facebook, I came across a picture of two beautiful hot dogs--one topped with truffle mac 'n' cheese and the other with mustard and bleu cheese--from Cheesetique.  Mission: complete.  My two girlfriends and I were going there and eat those wien...hot dogs.

The meat had a crisp exterior and the condiments were superb.  Very creamy mac 'n' cheese, nicely sharp mustard, and tangy bleu cheese.  My only complaint, however, is that the buns were lifeless -- a bit dry, a bit too doughy.  Because it was Sunday brunch, I was able to have chorizo potatoes as a side, and those were phenomenal.  Outside of brunch, the side options are salad and potato salad.

Service was decent; not great, but not terrible.  The front of this cheese boutique (Cheesetique -- get it?) is a small shop selling things from cheeses to wine bottle openers, while the back is the actual restaurant.  I would probably not eat here for dinner, but it's a great spot for brunch or lunch and you can grab frozen custard at The Dairy Godmother across the street!

I finally got a chance to try Cheesetique, and I am happy that I did.  I went for Sunday brunch with a group of friends and enjoyed every minute of it.  The service was attentive, and food was tasty just as it should be.

Upon arrival, we had a table in the back room...which makes this place a little bigger than it looks.  We passed a grocery cheese section, table seating and a cool bar area on the way.  The back room looks like a wine room because its decorated with bottles of wine along the wall.  I tried the Rustic Fritata with a mixed green salad.  I paired this with a mimosa.    The food was delicious and I can't wait to go back and try dinner.  Between the cool atmosphere and food, this place is a winner.

I went to Cheesetique to catch up with some friends on Friday night.

In order, to access the restaurant portion of Cheesetique; you have to walk through the retail portion. It makes it feels like you're going  some exclusive club when you get to small dining room. (On a side note I plan on going back to the retail selection of Cheesetique. It had a large variety of snacks and cheese choices.)

I highly recommend coming early to get a seat. The restaurant portion of store does not have a lot of seating. (It would not be a good spot for large group). It will also be more likely you'll find street parking (the only type of parking available) if you come early.

The ambiance of this restaurant is intimate and if with the right person could be romantic.

The waiter was helpful making suggestions when I had hard time understanding some of the specialty cheeses. I also appreciate he let us sit and enjoy our meal. I never felt rush which was perfect because it allowed me to catch up with my friends.

Although, the price(s) of wine might be considered a little high everything else was reasonable for the area and specialty cheese.

To steal a quote from Billy Madison for my own use, "It's cheese-tastic!"

From the outside it seems like any other neighborhood wine and cheese shop. When you first walk in, you get hit with that undeniable aroma, but when you are greeted about halfway through the store by a host/hostess you may be a little perplexed. Why the uptick in service for a bit of deli style tables and counter? Then you are escorted through a hallway into a very cozy wine library/dining room. It is not very big, but that adds to the atmosphere. The service is friendly, and for the most part attentive. The only thing I would say is that if you are serving soups and grilled cheese...you may want to ask each customer if they'd like their soup served first or with their sandwich. That is really my only gripe...and yes, I realize I am nit picking a bit.

The menu features some creative takes on an old childhood favorite as well as a mouthwatering selection of mac n cheeses. They have a nice variety of beer, and decent selection of wine. Everything we had was delicious, but if you are coming here for the first time be sure to order the Gjetost & Banana. Don't forget to add the bacon. Easily the best take on a grilled cheese sandwich I've had to date. Peanut butter, banana, & cheese grilled to perfection on cranberry toast. Yes, they strongly recommend you add the bacon, and I am seconding that! This sandwich was nothing short of ridiculous.

I would also recommend sampling at least one of the mac n cheese's...the serving size is not very large, but great for a group of floor to just get a taste if you are ordering meals. They, of course, deliver a solid creamy tomato soup which goes perfectly with the Grown Up Grilled Cheese. Oh yeah, add bacon to that too. I think it may be a bit of a seasonal menu, but when we went they were offering a pumpkin apple soup. The lasting heat from the curry spice was a perfect warm up on cold winter day.

The store itself seemed to offer all the cheese varieties one could ever want for, as well as a number of other specialty items. The day we were there they were also featuring a wine tasting which was a nice touch especially if you needed to pass the time waiting for a table. The store is a bit tight, but I think they manage the space well.

Huge selection of cheeses and meats, and a large selections of wines and other gourmet goods. They've also got a small cafe area in rear for you to enjoy some wines and dishes if you want a sit-down meal. The staff is friendly and helpful. The Lyon mini baguette is awesome and a very reasonable price. Felt good to be able to pop in, grab some bread and cheese, and munch on them while walking around the neighborhood.

Will have to come back to try the cafe/wine-bar area next!

I didn't know that there were fifty different kinds of blue cheese. I didn't know you could make a cheese with actual Guinness Porter. THERE ARE SO MANY THINGS I MUST LEARN ABOUT QUESO.

This quaint shoppe, as its name suggests, has a pretentious variety of cheeses which gives all the yuppies a false sense of social superiority because they don't stoop to the single slice kraft cheese of the other 99%.

I remember seeing a small jar of expensive craft ketchup that was categorized as "scooping ketchup". You know, because squeezing it out of a bottle is so bourgeois. I can totally see James Bond demanding, "scooped, not squeezed".

Anyways, they have an awesome variety of crackers, spreads, cheeses, and, oh yeah, the great wine wall. Its actually a good design alternative to putting up wallpaper or painting it.

If you can force yourself past the amazing collection of vittles and libations you'll find yourself at the cheese and wine bar. (Fun fact: I took six weeks of Chinese classes at work for fun and the only word I remember is 'wangba' which is Chinese for wine bar. I am so useless.)

The space is cozy and you can either sit at the actual bar or at tables. They have a pretty impressive menu and you can't really go wrong anywhere. Prices all range from the $8-$12 range for entrees. I split the lobster mac and the steak and cheese with my coworker and was not disappointed. The steak is cut pretty thick and served on a ciabatta bread with a slew of fantastical melted cheeses. They do not F around with their cheeses. Its so flippin good. All this melted gooeyness oozes with a spectrum of flavors. Its like what would happen if cheese-wiz found out he had a distant billionaire relative and he was the only heir and inherited all the money and decided to pump up the decadence up in this piece.

You know that sigh that you make where you breathe out your nose because it tastes so good but you're chewing and you need to exhale from the foodgasm you are having? I did that.

The lobster mac n cheese was also very good. The cheese is not overly creamy and has some serious substance. The lobster chunks were not as plentiful as I would have liked but when I did sink my teeth into one it was great.

While the portions aren't huge it makes up for it with great flavor.

Chipotle cost conversion: one entree = 1.5 burritos

Verdict: I'd still go here because of the ambiance and fantastic cheeses.

Lots of great wines and cheese! There is a dining area as well. There was a wine tasting going on when I walked in and I ended tasting some very nice wine, mead and cider.

I walked out with a nice tempranillo and some mead. I also picked up a very nice creamy California cheese, a baguette and two very nice salamis.

This the place where the best wine and cheese go down!

Great cheese and wine shop in the front, and super cozy restaurant in the back...great combination to shop or to stop for lunch or dinner. The menu is filled with delicious and classic cheese-tastic favorites, like several varieties of mac and cheese, grilled cheese, sandwiches and salads. And of course, vino.

We stopped in here for a very special celebratory lunch that consisted of sparkling Rose wine, french onion soup, brie and apple grilled cheese, and the onion confit grilled cheese sandwiches. Everything was melty good and warm which was perfect for the late afternoon early winter weather.

Staff is super friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere is very cozy and romantic, especially in the back along the wall of wine bottle and sitting in red velvet armchairs - it's a much bigger space than it seems from the front. Just one of the many surprises about this place. In addition to wine and cheese they also sell specialty micro-brews in the front - including cans of 21st Amendment beer from San Francisco...how could I not love this place? Best spot in Virginia we've stumbled upon so far.

If you are looking to fill up on cheese this place is for you.

I've been here for lunch and dinner and both times the service was awesome and the food was delicious.

    Highlights:
    - french onion soup
    - cheeseboard with 3 selections (and a side of caramelized figs)

While everything else we had was solid I would pass on the lobster mac n cheese. It was just ok...better options on the menu.

The Shirlington location is also great. Both spots are great for dates.

LOVE this place and love that its less than a mile from home.  Its dangerous, though...often,  a quick bite turns into 'just one more bottle of wine...'. Something from the mac menu is a must-do. The grilled pimento cheese with bacon is to die for!  The cheese selection in the shop is absolutely overwhelming!  I usually suggest what flavors I like and let the staff pick - after giving me many samples, of course.

I came with girls. I thought this place was a very small place but they took us to the back of the restaurant. It was very huge. There were a huge selection of wins on the wall. It creates nice ambiance.

I received very friendly service. I love it. I asked the waitress about the wine that I was thinking about trying it. She brought me a sample.

They got wonderful cheese selections. I didn't know there are so many different kinds of cheeses. Also the breads were soft and freshly made.

we also shared salad and cheese steak sandwiches with three girls. It were a perfect portion for all three of us.

I would love to come back again again again.

This is a perfect restaurant to have a good time with your friends, couples and family.

I stopped into this Cheesetique to kill some time before a flight to ATL... and the place largely lived up to its Yelp-ish reputation (I found it with the Yelp App)!

A gazillion reviews and almost a 5 star average so I won't bore you with a lengthy description of my entire experience... but here are the hot points:

    - Honey Goat Cheese - you MUST order this... period.
    - It's cheap to add some dried fruit and bruschetta to your cheese plate... DO it.
    - Wine selection isn't the greatest on the planet, but shows some care and diversity.
    - Prices are a tad high, yes, but quality is too!
    - Service was good (despite my internal smile at the mispronunciations of cheeses in a cheese focused spot).
    - Atmosphere is light, cozy, and comfortable.
    - Shop up front has some cute and clever cheese and wine knick-knacks!

Bottom line: it's worth at least one visit, and I'm willing to bet you bring someone back with you next time!

I've been here a couple of times since my last review and none of my recent experiences have come close to the first experience. So, if my first experience is repeatable, then I would say to go with the cheese boards and house wine since that is their specialty. It was a fun group experience years ago but it was very difficult to get a table as a large group b/c of the limited seating. In fact it's always awkward trying to get a table. Rumor has it that this location may start taking reservations.

Fast forward to now...I have been trying out their actual food menu which is not as good as the cheeseboard option. I have tried the grilled pimiento cheese. It was okay. Most of the cheese oozed out of the sandwich. I have also had the grown up grilled cheese and tomato soup. The soup had a sour/tart taste to it. The grilled cheese was decent. They use their specialty cheeses for the grilled cheese which makes it taste better than your standard sandwich.

My friend tried the house salad and the chorizo potatoes and thought they were both acceptable. She did not enjoy the side of bacon as much. I ordered some Red Dragon cheese to-go which I had loved years ago, but this time it was way too hot. The cheese was fine when mixed with other cheeses, pickles, wine etc. But on its own, it was not as good.

Also, I recommend avoiding the sangria. It was not well mixed. The fruit was fresh but it tasted as if they just poured some cheap white wine on top of the fruit moments before serving. It was also strong. Strong to the point where I had a raging headache and had to go home and sleep for hours to let it wear off.

I am so obsessed with Cheesetique.  I love cheese, but I currently eat vegan at-home, so when I go out, all I want is cheese.  This is the place to get your cheese fix.

My favorite dish is the mac and Cheesetique, though I've also had the grilled cheese with greens.  The mac and Cheesetique is excellent.  The truffle oil soaked breadcrumbs are awesome, and you can definitely smell the truffle oil before you even take a bite.  I do wish the mac would come with a small side of greens though, like the grilled cheese.  Grilled cheese was good, but a tad a greasy.  Still, it is tasty, and if I did not crave the mac everytime I came here, I'd get it again.  Both of the wines I've tried, the viognier and the gambellara, were excellent.

Service has been outstanding, and prices are extremely reasonable.  The back room makes for a great date spot.  Nothing has ever appealed to me on the dessert menu, but you can linger over the delicious dark chocolate bits they give with the check.

Now, if I was going to cook a special meal (special meals do not fall into my veganism), I'd definitely come here for cheese and wine too.  Wine tastings are offered on Saturdays, which is nice, and cheeses are available for tasting.  So far, I really like the raw milk manchego.

Cheesetique is a really nice shop/bistro, and I am always ready to return.  It is probably a bad thing it is so close to my place.
