This place is TERRIBLE! The food sucks and most of all the SERVICE SUCKS! The staff is soooooooo rude! I am 27 but my license had expired a few days before going in.. so they put black X's on my hands (understandable) but when I went out to smoke with my aunt.. the owner came out.. Grabbed the drink from my Aunts hands and told us to leave because she THOUGHT she had bought it for me. I was embarrassed and horrified from the terrible treatment we recieved. I was there to see a friend playing in a band with my mom, brother, aunt and had invited about 10 friends to come as well.. That was my thanks for bringing them in some extra business... Its cool they have live music, but its not worth it. I'll NEVER go back. EVER!
Review Source:This place is the WORST. Not only was everything over-priced and service painfully slow (ie 30 minutes for a drink and another 45 minutes for a plate of chips and dip), but when my drink finally arrived, it was NOT the Boulevard Wheat I ordered, but a Bud Light with a lemon in it. Now, I'm not a picky person and I've never sent a drink back, but I refuse to pay $7.50 for a cup of Bud Light. Then, instead of replacing my beer, the bartender just SMELLED it and returned it to me, stating that it smelled like a Boulevard Wheat. Well, this was because there was a lemon floating in it. Her reasoning for why my "Wheat" was a different color from the other actual Wheats at my table was because the color changes as it gets closer to the bottom of the keg. However, my drink was much lighter and clearer than the other drinks at my table, which is pretty much the opposite of how bottom-of-the-keg Boulevards look. The bartender made a huge deal out of replacing my drink (she angrily threw it in to the sink), then went on to serve my table THREE MORE Bud Lights before the end of the night. Last call was an absolute fiasco, and the aforementioned bartender tried to yank drinks out of our hands less than ten minutes after she served them to us. I have never experienced such awful, hateful service.
Review Source:It's very rare that I don't enjoy my experience at Danny's. As bar food goes, I've always found it to be quite good. Highly recommend the wraps (Buffalito and Caesar), as well as the daily specials.
To me, the thing that most sets it apart from other bars is the service is always quick and friendly. Now, I've never been there during live music or a big game. So I can't speak to how quick and friendly they might be when the place is packed. But during my visits, it's always been good.
I used to come here every Tuesday and Thursday night with my friend for their taco special but we have since stopped. Â I would say I was pretty regular, we'd come in for just drinks on the weekend and have a great time.
The last two times we went in for taco's the next day was not pretty as in we're certain the meat was bad in the tacos since everyone that ate some were making frequent trips to the bathroom. Â On top of that, there have been some staff changes in the last few months that have ruined the experience for me. Â More often than not, you'll get a waitress who doesn't seem to understand that their job is to keep an eye on you to refill your drinks and check back to see if you need anything. Â We had to wait over 30 minutes to even see our waitress a few of our last visits, this was the main reason we stopped going.
Aside from terrible waitresses, the bar staff is still very prompt. Â If you sit at the bar and want a drink or food, it's there before you realize it. Â So if you do go, sit at the bar, avoid the terrible wait staff.
I've got to say. Â If you want to see some live music, and you are in Lenexa, this is definitely the place to go. Â I cannot speak for what their regular music calendar is. Â But I feel that Danny's does a good job of being both a sports bar AND a respectable venue. Â The stage is actually a stage. Â And the bar itself does a good job of promoting the show, taking care of the band, & creating an atmosphere that encourages the support of live music.
Danny's is a few things though. It is a sports bar for sure (MANY TVs). Â And it is also a grill. Â And not JUST a "bar and grill' type grill. Â The menu is really extensive. Â You can get salads, sandwiches, pasta, etc. Â Honestly the menu is HUGE. Â And everything on it is reasonably priced, too. Â
Even though it was super busy this most recent time I was there, we still managed to receive good service. Â I was impressed with our server who had to take food orders, do cocktailing & wind her way through the masses of people there to see the show (which also made it a bit difficult to hear).
There are booths & tables, a large bar, AND an outside area. Â The bathrooms are clean, and the staff is nice.
Each time I have been there, it was for "louder" type band. So I can't really assess the actual "sound" for the room. Â I have a feeling that depending on the band, the sound is probably really GOOD, or slightly too loud. Â It's all relative to the type of music, and the amount of people in the room I think. Â All in all I have had a good experience every time I've gone there.
Parking is free, abundant, & well lit.
I come here twice a week for taco night. Try the hard shell chickens! Â Yummy! Â The chicken is grilled and delicious. Their salsa is homemade, I think. I know I do not like grocery store salsa, and this stuff is great! Â The staff is fantastic; low turnover, so the waitresses know you after a couple of visits. Nancy and Penny are the best!! Â I have also been here several times on weekends for bands, and this is a decent venue. I like the clientelle, in general. It may be Lenexa, but not your typical JoCo crowd. Try it!
Review Source:So I finally tried the 50 cent tacos on Tuesdays...they're really just dandy. They remind me exactly of Taco Bell...same taste, same quantity. What does that mean? It's not a great taco, but for a 50 cent bar taco with several affordable drinks...it's quite a fast, unhealthy treat.
This place is still best for drinks only, where they are quite cheap and served up quickly. Well, it can take some time to get a server's attention at first (other than at the bar, where it's always quick), but after that...they keep good tabs on you.
Oh and another recent Friday night trip drinking mostly specials - we had 9 wells (liberally poured), 2 Fat Tire cans (which fall under $1.75 domestic can specials, as does Blue Moon) and a Boulevard Wheat for $26 with tax.
One thing is that you ALWAYS see some of the same customers in here. I have been there on Fridays at 12am, Sundays at 11am, Tuesdays at 4pm...always in there. That's not a good or bad thing, just kinda funny.
Cheers!
