David Dassa has been runninng his twice (or now three times) weekly Israeli dance sessions for years. Â His Wednesday night session is Los Angeles staple, a high energy one for teens through older adults, with more than 100 dancers attending each Wednesday.
Dance instruction is excellent. Â David tries to avoid overwhelming dancers with every new choreography that comes out of Israel. Â A new dancer can master the current set in several months. ...Of course, with new choreographies and dance camps around the world every few months, new dances are inevitable.
Since David's father was an accomplished dancer, choreographer, and instructor, and since David grew up in a dance family, David's Israeli dance background is comprehensive and he can be counted on for occasionally inserting an "oldies" night or finding some beautiful dance from the past to share.
High energy means that if you want to put out the energy you can get a lot of exercise out of this session. Â If you want lower aerobic value, dance every other dance! Â
The crowd is 50-50 American / Israeli and reasonably friendly. Â Bottomline: Â I think this dancing is quite accessible, especially for someone motivated to getting great regular excercise and potentially being able to avoid the humdrum boredom of a usual workout or gym!
