I liked it more than I expected. Got the breakfast and it was fast and exactly as we ordered. LOVED the decor - 1970's red vinyl booths and tables plus wood paneling and a small color tube color tv set playing Gunsmoke. Awesome! Â I was right out of 1974...
Staff was great with exceptional customer service. I've been in Cincinnati 10 years and this is the first time I've been. Will definitely go back.
In a competitive chili city like Cincinnati, you often only hear about Skyline and Gold Star. Unfortunately, many of the little guys get forgotten about. Delhi Chili is one of them. With a charming staff and great food, you walk out feeling like you were just in one of the last remaining good neighborhood food establishments on the West side of Cincy. They have awesome chili and double deckers. But breakfast remains their badge of honor. Â Just walk in and order a "shooter on the run". Before you even decide what you want for breakfast, your "shooter" (cheese coney) shows up as an appetizer to start your day off right. While looking at the menu, and eating your shooter, you'll see some great menu options. Try the goetta double decker or ask them to make you a goetta and cheese omelet with chili on top. Both will put a smile on your face that you can only get on the West side of Cincinnati. If you are feeling adventurous, order the Hogway. Invented originally as a late night, post-drinking gorge-fest, the Hogway should be featured on Man vs Food. It's a five way over two eggs, hash browns and goetta.
Review Source:Oh chili... can I ever get enough of you? Â The answer is of course, no.
My quest to sample every chili joint in the region eventually took me to Delhi to try out their spin on the local favorite. Â Delhi Chili is a very small, mom and pop style diner tucked away in the city's southwest. Â When I say mom and pop I MEAN mom and pop, as I'm pretty sure the nice woman and man running the place were the owner/operators.
I sat at the bar, and glanced over the menu. Â I knew what I want - coneys - but I figured it'd be worth a look anyway. Â The woman called me sweetie, which reminded me a lot of my grandmother. Â I ordered my staple of 2 coneys, and patiently waited.
A young woman in track pants came in, and their faces lit up when she did. Â Either she was family or a close friend, because immediately the place stopped for hugs and greetings - and I mean the whole place. Even the other patrons seemed to know this girl, and I could clearly tell everyone was a regular. Â It felt like I was in someones living room on Christmas.
Eventually, my order came, and I scarfed it down, noting each part of the melody that makes up a good coney. Â The cheese was good, above average dog, fluffy bun. The thing I actually did not enjoy as much was the chili. It almost tasted a bit smokey.. maybe a tad overdone. Â Not bad by any means, just could be better. Â Regardless, the warm service more than makes up for it - I'll certainly be back.
Making small talk, I told the woman about my quest to try every chili parlor in the city. Â By that time, I had 8 coneys under my belt and 4 to go.
"Oh sweetie... you're gonna be sick if you do that!"
At the end of the day, my stomach was a bit angry with me, but I was still proud of myself for doing it.
Stupid grandmas... always being right.
